Hi,

Is anyone expecting a March baby?

I've just found out I'm pg following a mc in April at 12 weeks, so I need some company

Hi Ladies,
Thank-you for the warm welcome to this thread. I have been lol at spilt falling asleep on the toilet
I have been so tired... but like polka I am a teacher and have finished for the summer so glad can deal with these early weeks over the holidays.
It still hasn't quite sunk in yet as we were trying for number 2 for nearly 18 months!!
Evianbaby I had a EMCS last time due to Pre-eclampsia so also not sure if I want VBAC or elective but guess will have these discussions with MW eventually. Just need to let news sink in first!!

flower11 · 23/07/2010 20:04

hi all
waterplate my friend had no sickness with her pregnacy which was 1st, had healthy baby girl.
i brought the sea bands this morning, still been feeling sick all afternoon, maybe they need to be on for while longer to work! heres hoping they work

KateandEmsMum · 23/07/2010 20:33

Evening and welcome to the new ladies

Spilt - I read your post about falling asleep on the toilet this morning and nearly laughed out loud in the middle of a (rather boring) training session. I vividly remember sitting on the toilet in work whilst pregnant with DD2 with my head on the toilet roll wishing I could sleep but feeling too sick. Well done for getting in a snooze!

Coraltoes - hope you're feeling a bit better this evening

Penguindreams - double congratulations but I bet you are in shock! I have this fear that we'll have twins as they are very common in my Dad's family. Given this pregnancy was a pleasant surprise rather than plan ned as with DDs, I think DH may fall off his chair if we get that information at the scan! Mind you, have been sat next to a colleague today who has 5 month old twins who are sleeping much, much better than my 10 month DD so he looked a lot less knackered than me today.

Mendipgirl and madas - what is it with this inlaws and boys thing? Its FIL in my case and almost feel like its some sort of competition between us and BIL and his wife to produce the first grandson. I love my two girls and would be quite happy to have another. DH is a bit worried that we don't have enough bathrooms in the house but I'm sure we can solve that before they hit their teens. I think I would like to find out this time having kept it a surprise both times in the past but we think we may find out but just keep it between us. But then I'm bound to slip up to my Mum and she really isn't all that good at keeping quiet - she just can't help herself when she's excited.

I'm not telling anyone except my best friend at the moment. With DD2 only being 10 months and we had said we'd be sticking at 2, I'm really nervous about telling people. I really don't want this baby dubbed as an 'accident' even if maybe it was unexpected. I just feel like its a lovely surprise package and hate the idea that people will judge. Maybe I just need to get over this though

spilttheteaagain · 23/07/2010 21:35

Glad I've amused you all

Campervanfan · 23/07/2010 21:54

Hi all, sorry to hear so many of you have MS, I've escaped it completely so far, I'm 6 weeks tomorrow, I think it hit me somewhere between 6 and 8 weeks last time.

I'm having trouble sleeping some nights, then I'm knackered in the day. I don't remember being this tired last time (but then again I didn't have a toddler last time).

jeffily · 24/07/2010 08:19

Morning all!

Haven't posted for a while, but have been checking in to see how everyone is getting on and keep up with the news! Think I am still feeling slightly better, but looking at a computer screen seems to make me feel sick, hence the lack of posting. My tummy is definately popping out towards the end of the day now, I noticed one of the other teachers stealing a glance at it yesterday as we were saying goodbye. Thank goodness that it is the summer hols now, that's all I can say, and I can 'bloom' in private! Guess I am going to have to steel myself for telling mt HT as soon as we are back though. He's not going to be impressed, I know. Oh well. 5 weeks and 2 days not to worry about it!

Sorry to hear so many of you are still seriously suffering with the MS. Hopefully even for the worst of us it will only be hanging around another 6 wks! I was just thinking last night how exciting it is that there is now a busy April thread as well. Shows how we are moving gradually closer to meeting our newbies.

Now, I'm after some advice. I've made a plan to see an old friend in a week. She used to live close by and we saw each other all the time, but has now moved away and we only see each other every few months, but I love her to pieces and talk to her regularly. She and her hubbie have been trying for a baby for the last 18 months, and I know that it is hard for both of them when they find out that others are pg, especially if it happened quite easily for them. So... do I tell her? How do I tell her? And once I have, what do I do next? (ie let her get in touch with me, give her space/time) Am really quite worried about it as really don't want to contribute to how I know she must be feeling. Any ideas?

Right, better stop this and go and make DD breakfast. Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

NoSleepTonight · 24/07/2010 08:24

Morning everyone, glad to see your pregnancies are all progressing well.
And welcome to the newbies!!

Spilt sleeping in the toilets at work made me

Well I'm almost half way through my 2 week wait - it's dreadful!! Though there's been no bleeding or even spotting so that's got to be a good thing.
My next scan is Monday 2nd August at 9:30 so I'm guessing I'll know for sure by 10am that day.
DH has taken the Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday off work as if it is for the worst I'll want him with me and also to help with the boys without 'farming them out' to the MIL.

I'll scan through every now and again but probably won't post too much until the waiting is over one way or another.

xx

Harriet75C · 24/07/2010 08:44

Hello newbies!

So, I finally got the results of my blood test, and they said 'normal for dates', which is good. Now just trying to get through the next fews days until my first scan (on Thursday) without obsessing or worrying too much (cue huge laughter from everyone that knows me, or at least DH who is the only one who knows at the moment).

Also, it's the MIL's birthday at the start of September and they'll want us to go round there and cook them a nice meal, like we usually do, but I'm not sure whether I will have had my 12 week scan by then, so we are trying to avoid phone calls from the parents in law at the moment. Before, I was jumping to the phone in case it was my results, now I'm positively running in the opposite direction!

You can get all kinds of books about parenting, but nobody tells you it's this difficult to be pregnant. you can find out all about the potential physical ailments and dangers of pregnancy, but the whole way you feel and act is a completely different story! Still finding it hard to get excited because I'm so scared of losing the incubus, but really desperately want to start feeling safe and properly pregnant. I'm hoping the 8 week scan will help. Anyone got any gems of advice?

KateandEmsMum · 24/07/2010 09:49

Nosleep - finger crossed that the bospotting continues and that you get great news on the 2nd.

Harriet - glad that you have some reassuring news. The waiting game is just awful.

Jeffily - we have a very similar situation. Friends of ours have tried IVF twice in the last 8 months and both attempts have failed. They are desperate to have kids and would be amazing parents. We are dreading telling them especially as we seem to be able to conceive very easily even if I haven't always been able to see the pregnancies through. I think you just have to go with what feels right and if your friend needs a bit of space afterwards, accept that it may be difficult for her. I've been on the other side of this coin and it is hard but you don't begrudge the pregnant person - you just wish you were too.

Hope everyone has a good weekend with as little MS as possible. Think we may be off to the zoo to see the new baby elephant!

coraltoes · 24/07/2010 12:29

Quick update... Bands help a bit, they take the edge off the nausea. Might be mind over matter though. Still not good today but better than yesterday. Not been sick at least, whereas yest i made firm acquaintances with the toilet, checking in every few hours to see how he was

I hope that helps sam26oscar! X

sam26oscar · 24/07/2010 15:40

Thanks coraltoes may give it a try!! I seem to be getting steadily worse, it started 12pm yesterday and on into early hours only to reappear about 9am i really don't remember feeling this ill with DS1. Fingers crossed i am feeling hungry by the time this evening comes cos at the moment i have yet to eat anything as it doesn't help one wat or the other if i eat or not tbh!! Hope everyone feeling not too bad

spilttheteaagain · 24/07/2010 17:48

Evening all.

I've got my scan date now, 13th August. They ask you to drink a LITRE of fluid in 10 mins an hour beforehand. Surely I will be sick??

I added myself to the stats about a week ago but I'm not on there anymore so adding myself again.
I've been away for a week stayed in a cottage on a farm in wales was wonderful! just what I needed.
I came back to post giving my booking appt and scan date, makes it seem even more real. I had some nausea on holiday but these past 2 days I've felt fine was getting worried so I used a test I had in the cupboard the preg line can up staight away even before the control line! It reassured me, I'm very silly testing again I know, blame the hormones
I'm planning a homebirth however am ready for a fight as my bmi is 30 just at the cut off for 'obese' and depending how these mws are they may try scare me into a hosp birth, however as a student mw myself I will not let that happen.
Just looking at the booking in dates and a lot are booking very early at 6 or 7 weeks unheard of where I'm training and the hopsitals around are too busy we normally book at 10 weeks at least. I'll be 11 weeks when I'm booked.

snapdragon3 · 24/07/2010 20:47

Hi everyone. just popped on before I go to work. Nosleep lovely to hear from you during this agonising wait. So glad you haven't had any other symptoms.

Spilt Re: the amount of fluid before a scan. The info I got states "an hour and a half before your appointment time, start drinking a litre of fluid. If you live a long way away, it might be easier to arrive half an hour before your appointment time and drink the litre at the hospital. Don't drink the fluid all in one go, especially if you are troubled by nausea/sickness"

I filled up a litre sports bottle and sipped at it and finished it about 10 mins before we went in. Oh, and then i had a hot choc in the waiting area! Plus, your scan is a bit later so should be easier to see, as we're due within a few days of each other.

Well, if my boss is doing the sleep in shift tonight, I think I'll be telling them. Not only am I starting to show now, but it's getting harder to conceal the sickness when the morning staff come on duty. I'd rather be up front and put them in the picture than them figure it out.

sevenbubbles · 25/07/2010 01:25

Just wanted you to know am thinking of you nosleep.

This has been sickest day yet. Am lying in bed and room is spinning and can't sleep even tho I have been on verge of nodding off all day. Also stupidly bought new pair of jeans last week so not at all worn in ifykwim. Think they might last another week, had to change into pj's to accomodate my stomach. Even though I feel sick all the time am managing to pack in a gross amount of food. Have turned into carb monster and can't normally look at slice of bread without putting on half a stone. DP is already saying he thinks I need to be careful (in nice non.controlling way) Arrrrrggggghhhhh!!

sam26oscar · 25/07/2010 10:24

well, luckily my dinner went without a hitch last night, i actually managed to eat and was even hungry no body could tell either as i wore a long maxi dress which covers everything. Just need to get thru sunday lunch with heavily pregnant SIL who is having ELCS on my DS1 birthday!! She's very observant so will have to be clever!!! MS seems to have abated slightly today thank the lord!! Me23 i notice your DD is 5 yr also have you told her yet??? I am dreading my dating scan as it will more than likely be in summer hols and with DH away not sure what to do with DS!!! Hope you all feel ok and not too sick xxx

By the way told DH on friday night when he came back from exercise, now walking round like a peacock!!! Said he thought my tits were bigger

Purplefan · 25/07/2010 14:20

Afternoon Everyone,

Glad your dinner went well Sam
Well I went up the gym today as have been going every Sunday for a few months. I carried on with my normal routine and it was only when I was in the shower afterwards that I suddenly thought "Oh, I wonder if I am ok to continue doing this exercise now that I am pregnant?" Anyone shed any light on this?
I don't spend hours up there.. just some time on the bike, rower, cross-trainer, some weight machines and floor exercises.
However, I do feel like I have more energy and am ready to tackle the garden and the housework so must be doing me some good

spilttheteaagain · 25/07/2010 15:22

Purplefan I would have thought you're ok as long as you're keeping well hydrated and not overdoing it. Just worth bearing in mind that pregnancy hormones soften up your ligaments etc making it easier to hurt yourself/strain things. I'm not sure at what point of pregnancy this becomes a concern though.

Well done you for still exercising! I am doing bugger all, what with nausea and tiredness. At least I have an active job!

me23 · 25/07/2010 15:37

On the letter for my nuchal scan it states that I do not need to have a full bladder, which is odd because when I had 1st scan with dd I did need to drink about a litre of water.

sam I was debating on when to tell dd, dp wanted to tell her straight away, (in fact he is so excited he wants to tell everyone straight away!) anyway caved in and told her yesterday she is looking forward to a brother or sister, and keeps asking me when it is coming!

I don't have any pregnancy symptoms at the moment. I don't feel sick, boobs haven't grown are not really tender etc.. anyone else not feeling pregnant?

waterplate · 25/07/2010 20:38

Hi everyone

me23 I don't feel particularly pregnant - I've had no sickness at all but have needed the loo a lot and some boob soreness. Today I am EXHAUSTED though - definitely starting to feel like there something going on (specially strange since I'm a teacher and we've actually broken up now!)

I have spent the weekend at my brother's wedding and it was very odd not drinking - I normally do enjoy quite a few glasses of wine at family events so had to keep holding a glass to my lips and pretending to sip, and walking about with a glass in hand. Thank god for non alcoholic beer - I got to actually drink some of that! I think my uncle and cousin noticed at the meal that I wasn't really drinking but my cousin's wife is 16 weeks so they know what it's like; they were very kind and didn't say anything (unlike my bloody uncle who kept asking why I appeared to have given up the booze!)

DH and I told my mum this morning which was lovely! We didn't tell anyone else this weekend as we didn't want to take away the focus from my brother and new sister in law who are absolutely lovely, so we're waiting til 10 weeks or so to tell my dad and stepmum. They'll all be overjoyed!

Mum says she had no sickness with me or my brother so maybe it runs in families! Really sorry to hear about your bad day sevenbubbles - I'm thinking of you! Also those who are waiting on scans - best of luck and again my thoughts are with you.

My booking appt will be at 10 weeks so sometime around 22nd August - think different hospitals must give them out at widely different times!

Hello Ladies

Thought I'd introduce myself... I started up the April thread but I am not sure if I should be here or there following my chat with the GP! I thought I was 4 weeks, he thinks I am 8 weeks.
Fuck knows!

So no EDD, I have 2 DS's, one is 3 the other is 11mos.

I also have 2 jobs and am VERY tired. yawn

yoohoo ladies! Another week for us to put under our belts.
Well i don't know if i should be typing this for fear of jinxing myself...but....i feel HUMAN this morning! MY FLAMING GOD! not felt this normal in a fair few days.
No doubt my world will come crashing down around me this pm, but whilst it lasts i'll enjoy it.

I am exhausted, having slept badly and needing to pee every couple of hours, but tired compared to nauseous?! I'll take it any day!

I feel for you ladies attending weddings etc at the moment. I always get merry at these sort of events and people would suss straight away why i wasnt drinking! i do have one in early september but my booking in, scan and blood test is on 23rd Aug so i'll be able to anounce after that!

I hope you're all feeling a little bit better today. Sam26Oscar i ditched the sea bands...they didnt work at all in the end, was def a case of mind over matter.

x
