Hi,

Is anyone expecting a March baby?

I've just found out I'm pg following a mc in April at 12 weeks, so I need some company

nosleep thinking of you, hope you get good news xx

spilttheteaagain · 18/07/2010 21:16

Nosleep sounds like you're having a really tough time of it . Glad to hear you're home at least. How low did your blood pressure get?

madas I feel all fat as well and my tummy is tender. I think I'm just bloated though.

When did you all start showing with your first? (I'm fairly slim, tall, size 10 ish). I'm hoping it won't be obvious until after about 11 weeks as I have to go to a wedding then with lots of university friends... don't want to have to say anything for a while to them as I hardly ever see any of them anymore.

Campervanfan · 18/07/2010 21:51

Hi all, I need to change my stats, my due date per MN was 18 Mar but per NHS it's 20 mar.

Still no morning sickness, I'm 5 weeks today so bit early yet.

I have a confession to make ... I bought a maternity top today I know it's tempting fate but I figured that if it doesn't workout this time (fingers crossed it does) then I'd get pg again at a later date. I'm a bit superstitious about things like this as you can probably tell.

Nosleep what a nightmare, I hope everything turns out ok.

NoSleepTonight · 19/07/2010 08:46

spilttheteaagain It was around 75 over 50, and would sometimes rise a little bit or drop a little bit. When I came home it had risen to about 100 over 65, felt it go again a few times since.

I've just got ds1 ready for school and my mum is going to come and take him for me, ds2 started to walk yesterday so I doubt there'll be much rest here today!

I am so impatient, sat here waiting for hospital to phone me with when to come in for my scan, but the scan department doesn't open until 9, then they have to get the request from the ward, then process it etc etc so I'm assuming it will be close to lunch time by the time I hear anything. Hope they prove me wrong though.

On the plus side I'm feeling increasingly sick today, that has to be a good sign!

I was tiny - 5ft7, 7stone 10lbs, size 6, I'd been fighting a losing battle with weight since I had ds2 15 months ago, it literally fell off me, I'd tried all sorts to put some back on without success. Now I've gained 1stone 3lbs in 6 weeks, seems my body must know it needs more to sustain a pregnancy and I'm a lot healthier for it (other than this blip and morning sickness!!).
Hoping the weight gain now just goes to usual pregnancy standards, I've already got out my larger clothes and banished the size 6's to the attic!

Enough nervous rambling from me now, going to pace my kitchen with a cup of tea! I'll let you know how I get on

xx

coraltoes · 19/07/2010 09:56

nosleeptonight your weight gain sounds really positive and healthy! it must be frustrating to need to put on weight and not manage it. Our bodies are such fickle beasts arent they! Fingers crossed the hospital calls soon.

I'm learning to manage my morning nausea (not chundered yet- hooray). Upon waking i shove a petit filous down my neck to avoid that hungry feeling. Then at work i grab a latte and croissant (all i want is stodge at the mo and lots of fresh fruit). then slowly sip sparkling water all morning. At around 11 i start to feel human again. My friends have taught me (through observing their pregnancies) that the best way to avoid the worst of the sickness is to avoid getting hungry. It has worked for me so far and i know if i slip up that nausea really does start to get strong.

I've got cherries to snack on between meals, and bought tonnes of peaches, grapefruit, raspberries yesterday (and ice-cream. yumm)
Poor DH has been slaving away making me meals for the week. Bolognese, Chicken soup (really clear broth with pasta bits, chichen and lemon), so i can pick and choose what i might fancy. The worst is not knowing from one moment to the next what might appeal!

I'm calling the maternity unit today as they said to chase my booking in appt if i hadnt heard within the week. I am desperate to get dated as i have no real idea how far along i am. Guessing at 8 weeks...with EDD of first week of march. I bet i'm completely out.

BUnderTheBonnet · 19/07/2010 10:03

Hi everyone.

Not posted for ages, but I have been checking in.

Sunchild I hope your bloodtests are giving you some definite answers.

I'm feeling very bleurgh. And knackered. And very, very ready for the end of term. And spotty.

Someone at work asked me if I was pg on Friday. So yes, I am showing .

I am going to ring to arrange a private scan later today - fed up of waiting now....

OP posts:
snapdragon3 · 19/07/2010 10:05

nosleep how awful for you! Glad you're home. Hope the scan goes well - will check back in later to see if there's another update. The waiting game is really hard.

Madasajarofwasps I think my belly's got a bit bigger. I think my organs are already being shoved upwards and outwards slightly, which is what happened when I was expecting baby #2. Everything's gone a bit slack tummy wise in recent years

Well, the only different thing for me is that in between the sickness and nausea, I am craving cherries. Big time. I have got through a big punnet every day for the last 5 days. Oh, and I have gone off chocolate and chicken! My DH is shocked. I can't even look at the stuff . It's a really bizarre way of life at the minute because one minute I'm running to the bathroom being ill and the next I'm troughing cherries. Worse things to crave, I'm sure...

jeffily · 19/07/2010 11:54

Hello All

Hoping you've had your call and are on your way to the hosp for your scan nosleep

Ive been feeling pretty sick the last few days, and just getting through the time. DD Is napping at the mo and so I am sitting in bed with MN, but am going to try and nap in a min. Just wanted to check in and say hi to you all!

My brain is not functioning on a very good level, but is there not quite a high number of teachers on this thread? Interesting, I wonder if a usual random selection of pg women contains so many? Anyway, for my colleagues at the IWB-face- last week of term!!!! Roll on the best month of the year!

NoSleepTonight · 19/07/2010 11:58

Just to let you know hospital have called and I have my scan booked in for 1:45 then I'm going to the ward to be reviewed by the consultant. Let you know how I get on.
Thanks for the good wishes etc

Madasajarofwasps · 19/07/2010 12:50

Good luck nosleep thinking of you x

superpenguin · 19/07/2010 13:55

Hello all, hope you had a good weekend.

I spent most of the weekend in bed doing absolutely nothing!
Still feeling sick all the time and exhausted, but have dragged myself to work today anyway.

Not able to eat much at all at the moment and have actually lost nearly half a stone in the last week. Although I am a little overweight and needed to lose it this is probably not the time or speed to do so.

Nosleep thinking of you, hope you get some answers in your scan.

welcome to more new people!

much sympathy to everyone who is also feeling sick, we are a right bunch aren't we!

coraltoes · 19/07/2010 14:01

snapdragon3 i'm mad for cherries at the moment too! at least we've healthy cravings. if i were to get through chocolate at this rate i'd be the size of a house!

x

Celia76 · 19/07/2010 17:28

Hi everyone and welcome to the new members!

Sunchild - it goes without saying that you're in my thoughts. I hope you get the answers and support you need.

I sympathise with the morning sickness brigade!! This was the first morning in 10 days that my day hasn't started with being sick. It's so hard in this heat too isn't it?? I've got to do DSs supper and I'm going to try and fob them off with a sandwich because I can't face the idea of cooking!

Had my first midwife appt today which made it all seem very real! Midwife mentioned VBAC but after 2 sections I'm not convinced!

PS - Can someone update my due date to 6.3.11? Not the most computer literate person!

Sunchild I'm not sure if you'll check this thread again but in case you do I wanted to say I'm so so sorry for your loss. I have been thinking about you this last week and really hoped it would work out for you. Sending you lots of love and best wishes x x x

Kagey · 19/07/2010 19:31

Sunchild I am very sorry to hear that, I checked earlier and I was hoping you would have good news- best of luck and take care

I had my GP's appointment today and it feels it a bit more real. We had a good chat about hospitals as our local hospital where DD was born is being downgraded to midwifery led only and they may not take me as I had a c-section with DD as I might be deemed a moderate risk.

Anyway I hope you are all ok!

bluebeach · 19/07/2010 19:52

Very sorry sunchild, will miss you on here but sure sometime soon you will be on another due date thread.
Nosleep, hope your scan went well today and you got some positive feeback, sorry that you have been feeling so shitty.

Also all you ladies feeling bleugh, I can finally join you. Today I Didn't even make it out of bed, been feeling so dizzy and think I have ms mixed with a migraine as I had to have all the curtains shut and couldn't even bear to look at the computer screen.

An update on the brown discharge (sorry if tmi), had it for a day then nothing, have just noticed it again this eve but that is post BD (have strange thing of feeling really dizzy and ill but also really horny, had wierd sex dreams all day so had to get DP upstairs with some tomato soup (to eat) for very careful humping.)
I used to get bleeding post sex when not PG so I think I just have a sensitive cervix (maybe cervical erosion). I have my booking in appointment on wed so will talk to MW about it.

For all the cherry fiends, How brilliant that you guys are craving healthy fruit in season...much better than potato waffles!

Lots of love to you all xxx

spilttheteaagain · 19/07/2010 21:31

sunchild I am sorry. Wishing you all the very best for the future. I hope you have some understanding folk in RL.

Nosleep that is very impressive blood pressure, and I thought mine at 100/45 was quite bad... I hope your scan has given you some positive news.

I think (touches wood frantically) that I may be starting to come out the other side of the sickiness already. About 8 weeks and the nausea is definitely more bearable. On the other hand I may be just getting far more skilled at managing it - eat at first sign of nausea/hunger, eat the right stuff, rest lots etc. But it feels better so I'm hoping this is a gradual improvement towards 12 weeks. We shall see.

NoSleepTonight · 19/07/2010 22:48

Evening, had a crappy day so dh looked after the boys and my friend dragged me to the cinema.

The long and short of it is:
There is a bean, though measuring about 5+ rather than just short of 7. No heartbeat, but could be I ovulated late - had just had mirena coil removed.
I have to be re-scanned 2 weeks today, when there should definately be a heartbeat, obviously if there isn't by then it will be the end of the road.
There was a small area of bleed on the scan, which is what they think was seen on Friday (and caused the pain), after 2 different sonographers & a consultants opinions they are of the thought that this was a second bean that has sadly not made it & has been re-absorbed or whatever by my body.

So I'm on a 2 week wait, if I bleed I have to go straight to the ward, if heavy, I have to phone an ambulance (40 minutes away in the car) due to my blood pressure.

Just hoping I see a heartbeat in 2 weeks :/

snapdragon3 · 20/07/2010 10:01

Sunchild - wow, what a day you've had. Glad you have a lovely DH to take over looking after the little ones and that your friend took you out. So you're left hanging on yet again....there is hope, though. Our bodies do some crazy things so it's not impossible you ovulated late. Sad about the second bean I have every finger and toe crossed that in two weeks, you get to see a heartbeat, but I also realise you are on another knife edge of uncertainty. Love to you

Celia I think it's lovely that the MW even hinted at a VBA2C! It's crossed my mind - I'm just not sure how strong I feel to buck the system and fight yet again, when with my other two pregnancies I had to fight for the chance. The doula I had with DS has also mentioned it (I have checked her availability already!)but I'm just not sure my body works like it's supposed to. I would love to give it a shot but then I get this mental image of my consultant and all the MWs, docs etc wagging fingers and saying they told me so when it all goes Pete Tong. It's pretty much taken as read that after 2 sections, that's that. Anyway - long road ahead....

Sympathies to all those with sickness persisting or just cropping up. I continue my fond relationship with the porcelain god and then almost immediately need to devour cherries. Retched my way round Sainsbury's this morning after taking DD & DS to nursery. Couldn't think what to make for tea and then it hit me. I have to have lemon & ginger stir fry with a little hint of chilli. So root ginger and lemon zest got chucked in No matter how sick I am, the idea still appeals. Weird.

jeffily · 20/07/2010 11:26

sunchild life is so shit sometimes. I too hope that you have good RL support, as well as all us here of course! Thinking of you, hope that the uncertainty is not doing your head in too much.

I've been feeling a bit better as well the last couple of days spilt. Not waking up at 4am and having to get up and snaffle a peanut butter and jam sarnie to fight off the sickness, and this morning I even managed to prise DH out of bed at 6.45 when DD woke up (usually he seems to be deaf to any noise pre- 7.30am, regardless of how many times I have been up in the night with her/how sick I am due to being preg ) and then stay in bed till the sickness drove me out at 7.45. Well, that and a little baldy head that came pottering into the room and clambered over my head en route to the glass of water... (that's DD not DH!) Funny that we are both feeling a bit better and are at exactly the same point. 7+5 isn't it? Frozen grapes- manna from heaven!

Can't remember who was asking about showing with first pregs. I certainly didn't get people asking me/noticing until I was 20 wks with my first. I suppose before then they might have just thought I was getting fat, which I wouldn't want old uni friends thinking about me! But maybe I am a bit shallow about such things... Do think I am showing already this time though, although it is all just water and flab at the mo. Felt uncomfy lying on my front in bed last night, for the first time.

Managed to make shepherds pie this morning. Am rather proud of myself, means that my family gets to have something more nutritious than biscuits and crisps for tea tonight. Good!

Bugger. Think I just heard DD shouting in her bed. She's meant to be asleep. better go and investigate.
Have a nice day all!

coraltoes · 20/07/2010 14:51

Oh god, was feeling so smug this morning "oooh nausea seems to have beaten a hasty retreat" and BOOM it hit me at lunchtime! the byatch!
Still, hasnt kept me away from my cherries nor a large chocolate and cream eclair which i am sure i'll regret later but am too much of a pig to resist!

is anyone else looking a bit round of tummy by evening time? i'm fine in the morning but have a distinct bump by bedtime. Bloody hope it isn't twins in here eek!!!

got my scan and bookin in appt on 11th Aug. How on earth will i survive until then?! I am the most impatient beast on earth.

Now...has anyone looked at private midwives or Doulas? any opinions or experiences? I am wondering whether it is worth having one just to ensure that when i am pushing and DH is fainting in the corner someone can tell the MW exactly what is in my best interest?

snapdragon3 · 20/07/2010 15:15

Coraltoes you have made me laugh! Glad you're still enjoying the cherries .

11th August ain't that far away, you know. And there'll be so much more to see for having waited. It'll be worth getting a pic.

Can't give you much clue about independent MWs but those I know who have had them have all said they were brilliant. I had a doula last time and she was worth her weight in gold. Obviously, I wasn't in labour at the time, but during the surgery she was fab and afterwards - well, life would have been that much harder without her help. I'm booking her for this time too, for postnatal help. Not really got much in the way of family. If a miracle happens and I spontaneously go into labour, she'd be top of my list. DH doesn't know that yet....it does cost though. I was lucky last time and got her on a trainee rate, as I was her first client from qualifying.

snapdragon3 · 20/07/2010 15:25

jeffily your DH too, eh? How do they manage it? My DD is brilliant when the sickness is bad - she fetches me tissues and strokes my hair. Bless her. DS hits me with a plastic dinosaur which is cute in its own way.... Well done on making the shepherds pie - the cooking's a killer.

I agree with #1 baby, it was about 20 weeks or so before there was even a hint of baby bump going on. Though there was a definite swell before that just looked like I'd eaten too many pies.

with #2 I showed a bit earlier - maybe 14/16 weeks, though trousers were tight by 10 weeks.

This time, I think it will be earlier. My upper abdomen is already solid where the organs are being shoved up and my work trousers are beginning to feel slightly uncomfortable, if not yet too tight.

I dread to think how big my boobs are going to be. I think they'll have to invent a new letter in the alphabet for my cupsize when my milk comes in I've always been quite generous in that department but oh my lord....

coraltoes · 20/07/2010 15:40

snapdragon interesting comments on the doula...i might look into it. Can i ask what you go through with her, how is it meant to work at labour? does it feel like she treads on DH toes at all? i'm just after a "client" perspective rather than one they'll try to convey to me...if you know what i mean.

Glad i made you chuckle. Slightly sad that my cherries were sweaty from being left in the car.
