Hi,

Is anyone expecting a March baby?

I've just found out I'm pg following a mc in April at 12 weeks, so I need some company

Madasajarofwasps · 08/07/2010 10:55

hi no sleep I hope the appt goes well. Ooooh are you excited/scared by the chance of twins? I had a weird dream last night that I had twins and I called then Salt and Vinegar!!!!! So strange!

I hope this pregnancy is less dramatic for you.

I still feel pants which I suppose is good. My mum and dad are coming over later - i think I will tell them as the no drinking will be soooo obvious!!

Hattie05 · 08/07/2010 12:43

Hi all!

Mum2G - so sorry for you, take care xx

Spoke to my midwife this am and i don't need to book in until i'm 10 weeks. Think she was shocked to hear from me as she only just delivered dd3!!

I've scared myself silly that i'm having twins. I feel really sick and have never had this in other pregnancies. We have twins in the family. And i just read that the older you are the more likely - i'm 32. and twins often come after people have 3 or more children. PLUS it said 9times more likely to conceive twins if you are breastfeeding!!! which i am! does anyone know if this can possibly be true? or is it just an old wives tale?

mixedmamameansbusiness · 08/07/2010 13:34

nosleep - you have the first apointment. hope it goes well.

mum2g - i cant add anything else if you are still reading.

re; the rash (brain gone to sleep and cant remember who mentioned it). BOth DC have come up with a rash, DS2 much more severely. Seems to not bother them at all and theyhave no other symptoms so took them to the docs this morning and they said COCKSAKIE (i kid you not that is the name) and it is a virus that all children apparently get and then are immune to. Running of a list of do's and don'ts he said avoid pregnant women... so the doctor has called another department for advice to see whether it is a problem for me and they dont know so further research is being carried out. Madness. Anyway, perhaps your DC has the same thing, apparently completely harmless.

snapdragon3 · 08/07/2010 13:46

Hattie I've been worried about twins too! We have twins in the family, I'm nearly 38, on third baby... but the sickness can strike with any pregnancy. Plus, you are bound to be more tired which can make you feel more sick
Here's some twin info

African-Americans are more likely to conceive twins than Caucasians. Asians are less likely to conceive twins.

Women between the ages of 35 and 39 are more likely to conceive twins.

The more children a woman has, the more likely she is to have a set of twins.

Taller women conceive twins more often than shorter women.

Conjoined (Siamese) twins result from the egg splitting near the end of the second week following fertilization.

Identical twinning is 9 times more likely to happen if a woman becomes pregnant while breastfeeding another newborn.

spilttheteaagain · 08/07/2010 14:37

Ah the twins paranoia! I had a dream about that 2 days ago too. In my dream I seem to remember my main reaction was to be cross that I probably couldn't have a homebirth

Hattie05 · 08/07/2010 15:04

Ah you see snapdragon Its the thing about breastfeeding that really freaked me. Do you know how genuine that statement is?

Spilt - no homebirth hadn't even occured to me. omg that would be sad. Although i'm sure i'd be grateful when giving birth to twins to be in hospital!!!

mendipgirl · 08/07/2010 15:11

Does anyone actually want twins? I would have quite likes it first time around (have them in the family as well) but the thought now of going from 1 to 3 scares me to death!!

Also on the symptoms thing....the nausea isn't too bad, it's the fact that it lasts all day that drives me insane...would rather feel sick for half hour and actually throw up, but this is never ending...although am trying to eat my way through it...twiglets, chocolate and sweets at the moment

Hattie05 · 08/07/2010 15:19

Same as you mendip Would have loved twins first time round, but considering this baby is my no.4 and that scares me, no. 5 definitely scares me!

Of course i'll love and cherish whatever blessed with, but we can barely fit in our house as it is.

I know my nausea is hanging around too, feel dizzy weak and wobbly most of the day too. No housework getting done here at the moment!

superpenguin · 08/07/2010 16:04

oh dear it has never even occurred to me to think about twins before!

I keep having weird twinges / like very mild pain that comes and goes, in my lower abdomen still. Now I think it's a bit different to period pain though. Very strange.

Did another test this morning just to check I hadn't been imagining those faint lines last week, and a got a very reassuring definite line this time!

By the way, to satisfy my constant snacking/grazing desire, I've found a fab website that sends you random nibbles in the post! (like fruit, nuts, olives, crackers etc). Anyway I have a code if you want to try it to get a FREE box. The free box code is FLCWCMPN and you need to go to: www.graze.com .

Hope everyone is ok. x

Madasajarofwasps · 08/07/2010 16:32

Interesting twin stats snap. Weirdly I quite like the idea of having twins - not sure why!! But I would worry about complications, the birth oh and having two babies to look after, but I still like the idea! There are no twins in our family so I would think it would be unlikely anyway.

My parents have gone and I didn't tell them - not sure why I just couldn't fing the right moment and dd2 has ears like radar so I knew she would pick up on it. I'll tell them in a couple of weeks.

mendip the all day nausea is driving me nuts too.

EvianBaby · 08/07/2010 17:44

Hi all
Finally started to feel a bit more real today - i told my mum and sister. They were very pleased and excited. My sisters 3rd baby is due in December so roughly 3 months difference. Her (current) youngest child and my son are very close and there's 16 months between them so we're really pleased to be having more even closer together (if that makes sense?!)

I've been feeling dreadful today, nausea, tired, dizzy, faint. I didn't feel this bad this early last time. Totally understand what some of you are going through! I tried Locozade today, not wure why i've NEVER fancied it before, and it did help a bit.

The twin thing has crossed my mind as there are twins in the family. Not sure whether I could cope with 3 children under 2 and a half! I suppose I would have to! I don't fit into many of the other criteria though so i won't worry too much!

Oh, i think someone was asking in an earlier post about age/location. I'm 31 and live in the North East.

jeffily · 08/07/2010 19:45

Hi all

It was so hot down here today. I stood up too quickly after knitting club (with year 3 and 4, don't ask!) and nearly passed out as all the blood rushed from my head. Takes a while to get used to having to take it a bit easier, doesn't it?

Hattie, your youngest is still only little isn't she? I'm still BF as well- are you planning to give up before the newbie arrives? Have you got any brilliant tips?! My DD is bigger than yours (15mo) but I really want to stop before too long so I get a few months at least of not BFing. She's going through a really clingy phase at the moment though, so I want to do it as gently as possible.

Cr*p. Just realised the time and that by now I should have gone to cast my vote in the local election.

Hope you're all well!

polkadottytotty · 08/07/2010 21:21

Hello everyone

Thought I would pop by and say hi.

So sorry to hear your news Mum2G - I hope you are okay.

I'm not feeling too sick yet - had pretty much constant nausea with both my DS's from 6-12 weeks, but I'm only about 5 weeks at the mo.

We've told all our family already - it feels early but we told people at the same stage with the other two. We've also told the boys - theres no way we could have kept it from them, my 5.5 yr old would have sussed it out pretty quickly.

My youngest asked if the baby would be here when he got home from nursery! - so had to explain how it would be a loooong time until it was here.

My eldest wants a sister and youngest wants another brother but I'm sure they will change their minds - they are so excited, I knew they would be pleased but not this much.

We have been finding out how big the baby is at the moment - its the size of a poppy seed at the moment(so small!) - I'm looking forward to experiencing pregnancy with them -kids bring magic to everything.

I had a fab sleep last night for the first time in a week or so, but still felt exhausted this morning, couldn't keep my eyes open at work (and I'm a teacher!).

Thanks for the graze link penguin - am definitely going to check that out.

The twins info is interesting too - it seems I'm quite unlikely to have them based on that (phew!)

ThePFJ · 09/07/2010 08:19

Hi everyone, I am ThePFJ, and I got my two BFP's yesterday.
I have a lovely 2 year old boy running about, and I had an ectopic pregnancy in Feb where they had to remove my right fallopian tube. I think I had a cp last month, but everything seems to be back on track now. Midwife wants to do a viability scan for me next week to make sure I don't lose tube number 2 and she's been lovely to me so far.
I am very very excited about this pg, I didn't try at all in the last month for a baby and here it is!!
It will be so lovely if this one sticks and I get a little pisces baby like mummy is.
I added myself to the list below. Thanks everyone. xxx

snapdragon3 · 09/07/2010 09:03

Hi PFJ and congrats to you. What a lovely surprise after such a horrible experience. Fingers and everything else crossed the scan shows all is okay this time.

Morning to all. Hope you are all having a bit of sunshine. Bit cloudy here but think it's going to be gorgeous later on.

Both kids at nursery today, so need to crack on with some chores - my house is a shed

Hope all you ladies with bad nausea/sickness have better days. Went to see my fab GP yesterday and had a good chat about it all. We agreed a plan of action between us; to have the dating scan on Tuesday and see what the score is. He's reluctant to start me on anything just yet (and FWIW I agree - I've been much worse) at least until we know how far along I am and we decided I'll soldier on for now.

He's given me some dipsticks and trusts me to check daily for ketones etc. The MW is going to call in next week to see how I'm getting on. If things get worse and I'm really struggling, he'll put me on tablets and then decide about hospital admission for IV fluids. I'm already on prescription medication so he doesn't want to add any more risk factors if he can help it. If things go the way they did with DD, the sickness will just get worse and won't go away no matter what I do. It has already got so bad in the evening, I am having to give the kids sandwiches instead of a cooked meal. I can't bear cooking smells or the wave of heat over a pan/oven. I have to keep running to the loo.

Keep telling myself it's all in a good cause - and the most effective weight loss programme I have ever been on...

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

ThePFJ · 09/07/2010 09:12

Hi snapdragon!

Sounds like you are having a time of it! I hope you are ok?

I have been so tired and hungry lately. I thought I had bad hayfever/cold until I found out I was pg. No sickness yet thank goodness, but my boobs are playing up alot now! Really really sore... ouch!

I am SOOOO happy to be pg. I have been grinning like a mad person since I found out!!!!

I have stopped taking hayfever medicines and beechams now I know I am up the duff. Hopefully no harm done there. I really need a nap. But I just got up!!!

Hugs to all you girls! xxxx

Hattie05 · 09/07/2010 10:37

Hi jeffily

Yes i will give up breastfeeding. I am returning to work in August so i was going to cut babies feeds down to morning and night anyway but i think i will try and wean them all off then. Unfortunately like you she is seeming keener to feed and she's waking more in the night and out of desperation i'm feeding her back to sleep because i'm just so tired! so i'm worried how this will go, although she's only 8mths so not as tricky for me as 15 mths are. I remember my first i tried to wean off the breast about that age and she was 2 before i succeeded. But that was because she relied on feeds to get to sleep, i had to substitue with bottle in the end. Best of luck with it! Had you considered tandem feeding at all?

Should i feel guilty that i have become a really lazy person since having dd3, i just can't do housework! I used to spend every spare minute trying to do a bit here and there, but in this weather and with dd3 to look after i just can't be bothered. My floors could really have a sweep and mop today, but i just thought who cares, who'd notice if i did them?

Congrats PFJ and welcome.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 09/07/2010 15:53

Hello newbies.

Super - glad there is a plan of action and help available.

Penguin - A guy in my building at work has those delivered every day to his workplace!

Not much to report here.... am feeling soooooooo tired that I took yeterday and today off which means I am going to have to tell work as we have an ongoing issue with chronic migraine which I have only just got under control so dotn want them to think I am just taking the mick.

Both days though I have napped when the kids are - pretty much inintentionally as I was trying to read but just could not keep my eyes open.

The MW still hast called which is peeing me off just ver so slightly as I called last Thursday and they said she will call early in the week. Will give them another week I think.

Oceanbreeze · 09/07/2010 19:01

Good afternoon ladies. Hope we'll all feeling good/better today. I've just woken up from an accidental mammoth 'nap' only sat down for 2 mins honestly

Does anyone have any advice/opinions on vitamins. I'm currently using Pregnacare with Omega, but now I've read I should also be taking calcium, which apparently it doesn't have...

spilttheteaagain · 10/07/2010 21:16

snapdragon you sound like you're really suffering. I really hope your scan puts you as further on than you think.

Am now 6+1 , only 34 weeks to go....!

ocean vitamin wise I'm on a cocktail of my own making. Folic acid, Vit B complex (B6 supposed to help with sickness) and occasional calcium & vit D tablets when remembered. I do wonder if I should take a proper pregnant persons pills though.

Celia76 · 11/07/2010 08:40

Mum2G - so sorry to read your news. I hope you're getting all the support you need and taking it easy.

My morning sickness has really kicked in. No actual being sick, but from waking up, until about 1pm I'm constantly focusing on not being sick, sipping water and sucking polos. It's horrible as Im telling DS's off constantly for being too noisy, jumping on me etc. I'm just waiting for DS1 to ask why I'm feeling sick and tired the whole time....

I'm dreading work next week! Hey ho, all in a good cause!

Welcome to the new members and congrats!

spilttheteaagain · 11/07/2010 11:07

For those feeling really sicky I thought I'd share some of things I'm finding helpful:

-sucking ice cubes
-drinking ice cold water with a slice of lemon in it (the slight sour-but-freshness really helps it go down)
-eating more "liquidy" food to minimise chewing (which makes me want to gag). So very small portions of tinned tomato soup (grate some cheese in for protein), a few spoons of natural yoghurt with a bit of brown sugar, soggy weetabix.
-Bland and soft fruit like honeydew melon. Also grapes because you can just nibble one very slowly and see how it goes!
-travel sickness wristbands (not sure if they do much, but sore wrists is a distraction!)
-trying to eat about every 90 mins to stop blood sugar going down.
-eat very small helpings
-send DH to the shops. The mere sight of most foods is enough to send me all wobbly and queasy.
-Drugs.

I've also bought some boiled sweets for work, but not yet been brave enough to have one!

Hope some of those help some of you. Any of your tips gratefully received!

I post on a postnatal thread for DD1 but I meet them in person now and they're my friends on FB so I don't want to tell them yet but have to speak to someone!!! So this is a new login name [sneaky]

Campervanfan · 11/07/2010 12:56

Oh and re morning sickness, I've not had any yet, only 4 weeks today(!) but I found last time that if I could manage some dry or buttered toast first thing before the nausea kicked in that really helped.
