Okey dokeys. I hear y'all. Bargains thru and thru.

cos pliz to receive bf instructions. Also does size o comedy bustage make a diff? Pal told me that having heavy boobs can make it more awkward. Troof or no troof pliz?

I think cos Tuesday will call her baybee Tuesday cos it's gonna be born today eg Tuesday that then really it's got to be a girl. Factoid.

Can I also ask if it's worth buying a baby bath / baby holders for bathing (looks like a slide) or is that just a waste cos you tend to hold them when you bathe them? Or for the more Eco friendly do you just stick them outside during a rain shower!

My side still aches. Badly. Just on the right. Think it's too high to be hip. . Bloody food shopping is a frigging hazard.

ski chunky monkey??

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 29/06/2010 09:48

CNUT Hooray! How exciting! (though I only entered the sweepstake yesterday and have got it entirely wrong....)

Might lurk not post today I think - feeling a bit rubbish (nothing serious, just heat/lack of sleep) but here's a breakfast platter of fresh fruit and pastries in the meantime. Plenty for the lovely Palace girls too! (and don't mention to them that we haven't paid rent on this wing of the Palace since we opened the Deli)

skihorse · 29/06/2010 09:58

silver I haz gone right off B&J's. I can't be doing with it's creamy-chocolatey goodness. I like orange Calippos right now. As for my shopping some has been new, some secondhand and given to me. E.g., the Quinny travelsystem I picked up for 125 euros with "all the bits" - wheras it'd have set me back easily 600 in the shops - so for me, that's 475 towards a ski holiday in January which Julian will appreciate much more I'm sure! I bought a bath from IKEA - 7 euros? The holder things and also the bucket things I've seen described on the Chat & Pregnancy forums as a waste of money and yet another thing they try and convince first-timers they need. As you say, it's not as if you won't be holding the baby anyway... Or if he's really shitty - obviously we'll just lie him in the bottom of the grown-up bath and blast him with the shower! You're ¬24 weeks right? I had blasts of pain & ligament issues for about a week then.

iggy The stinky nips bit was also something cossie imparted to me and of course it totally makes sense... however, I can't help but feel I'm going to want a long, cool shower after the main event and was wondering if the whole Tracey Cox natural perfume thing post-shower would also work - what do you think? Totally agree with you about the stepping btw - seems very naturally and puppy-like.

reginaMonologue · 29/06/2010 10:11

Morning all!

Sorry I've been lurking and not contributing, this hot weather has been doing me no favours what so ever.... meh!

fanny glad that all is ok after trip to hospital and speculum intrusion! Has everything settled down now?

poo I loved your list of man-hates. So much did I laff out loud OH wondered what was going on so I showed him your post, it must have been like reading his own Autobiography! I thought showing him what you said would be a nice and subtle way of suggesting he might want to consider doing a bit more .... I have already had to make a start on the "we need to clean the house for visitors in July rota" - I'm giving him good time to adjust to the idea of what bleach and limelite is for...

ski moi? organised... well maybe a little bit, long gone are the fleeting days of leaving assignments to the last minute and pulling an all nighter to scrape a degree! However if you asked OH we're not nearly enough organised, I thought I was doing OK however considering the monster pile of baby stuff I'm accumulating in the lounge/dining room/soon-to-be nursery... . Wrt your olive branch, pick the fruits carefully and only go for the ripe ones I say, mothers can be tricky (esp. mine). So much so in fact it was only last night I was pondering on what kind of "mother" I'd be, conclusion? Not much like mine, I really don't want to be seen as overbearing or interferring (even if she doens't know she's doing it!)!

moo are you a fellow compulsive list maker like me? Sad as it seems I love lists and to be honest it's the only way I can operate these days as my memory is like that of a goldfish. I too share your ability to opt for the most expensive version of anything that I may require... currently I'm investigating breast pumps... oh, how my days have changed (along with my browser history...)

muser agree with you on the online shopping thing. Whilst I usually enjoy a trip to the food pile (I work from home, it's surprising how exciting a trip to buy grub can be!) I am closing in on the point of returning to online purchasing, esp. for the heavy stuff and things we use lots of... OH might as well piss neat lemonade considering how much he drinks of it! Handily though we have a green grocer just down the road so I'll be sticking to getting fruit and veg from them, cos I've never had a good experience of nice stuff delivered by a man with a van... I have however noticed an Asda van doing the rounds of late which is great, because that now means they're delivery to our area and they are super cheap compared to our local sainsburys.

salty gusset checking is compulsary! Though I did refrain and only did one POAS... negative to that was an unhealthy amount of groping and wiping and knicker examining... like moo I also felt that the first 12 weeks was the longest ever so we booked in for a private scan @ 10 weeks which took the edge of the nerves a bit! Good news on getting your scan date through though at the end of July! One tip, the private lady we go to for scans does her nuchal stuff at 10 weeks, more accurate apparently, esp. the bloods (though she may actually do the scan bit at 11 or 12 weeks and combine the result then).

silver I am liking the sound of your dallas divas and daughters show... I must look that up as our planner has far too higher ratio of man-watches over what I want to veg out in front of! As for knackerness - yep I too was zonked from about 6 weeks to 12, and only now at week 19 has the MS almost gone away (shsss... don't tell ski I said that!

curls sorry to hear about the readmit to hospital, how is the little mite doing now? On the subject of breast milkage I was wondering about this and which way is the best way to go? Straight from nipple or from nipple into bottle so that OH can do feeding as well. Is mixing and matching the too a bad thing to do? anyone got any advice on this? Don't want to cause any nipple confusion iyswim. Oh and kudos to you on the G&A thing - I'd love to

cos my sister is visiting in July and we are bound for M&P to get "stuff" - what bouncer thingy did you go for in the end?

rots good tips on baby clothes for november arrivals - thanks for that!

cunty excited for you! did you burst in public? I have nightmares about that sort of thing... I am pushing for you in my thoughts!!

On a positive note, my incesent peeing at night seems to have eased off, and the weird ass pins and needles I've been getting on my left hip down the front of my thigh and round to my butt cheek as eased off. Seemed to happen when I was laying down... anyone ideas as to what it might have been? I dare say it will revive itself in the near future, but at the moment I'm making the most of 7 hours consecutive sleep!

reginaMonologue · 29/06/2010 10:13

thing - I'd love to ....

open to suggestions as to how I should have finished this sentence off? Answers on a postcard!

reginaMonologue · 29/06/2010 10:16

OMG I have lost the plot! fanny soz I'm running on virtually no brain power atm, as you can see... from my comment to you. I'm giving up now....

skihorse · 29/06/2010 10:21

Gosh yes, reggie has reminded me, I wanted to say a HUGE shiny, sparkly, sequined, glittery and tassled COMGRATULATIONS to Curly for doing it on G&A - especially in light of her RA. You're a star!

Plz to all shut up about ms? This morning I had to run to the bathroom again and as jailbait followed me in between heaves I wailed "I've peed down my leg" - he hadn't realised it'd actually gone down my leg and formed a little puddle. I have a feeling this boy is not going to like lie-ins, he will want a 5am breakfast and if it's not delivered there will be screaming.

reggie Wrt mothering... we're having boys - so at least we won't repeat the mistakes...

PerfectDromedary · 29/06/2010 10:30

Hello! WHY IS THERE NO NEWS FROM CUNTY?

I am feeling mostly like shite today - back hurts, head aches, tummy is upset (though no vomming as yet), need to sleep for about a million years. I have also booked drs appointment to tell them that I think I'm pregnant and am now superstitiously convinced that I have somehow jinxed things. Although will have to get over that quick smart, as that way lies madness.

Returning head to sand now.

LittleCurly is gorgeous, and Casp you sound inordinately coherent for such new mother status.

skihorse · 29/06/2010 10:40

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/992664-Eaten-something-I-shouldn-39-t-should-I-be-getting

FFS! These children are going to be in schools and classrooms with our perfect children. Something ought to be done! It's people like this who are going to take all the fun out of our children's lives. Fucking twats.

rollerbaby · 29/06/2010 11:26

I hope Cunty is ok. I bet it's a pink one this time around.

Reggie also am at stage where looking at breast pumps and video monitors. Have finally decided upon video monitor - Luvion digital one. I like cos we can plug into TV and have our very own Baby TV (must book mental health appointment this week). On the breast pump note, reviews on here seem to rate the dual electric one from Ameda somthing. Its about £85 I think. The Phillips Avent one is £250!!!! I mean how can it be that much better? Hmmm.

Ski Delmonte do orange JUICE ice lollies. They are the business and taste of oranges.

laurielou · 29/06/2010 11:35

Cuunnnttttyyyyyy Hope you're OK, thinking of you.

curly Congrats again!! I'm so glad baby curls is starting to put on weight.

Hope the weather all cools down for you...

God, I'm ridiculously excited about this fred, tis all happening!!!

reginaMonologue · 29/06/2010 11:48

tsk ski you got told off on the dont-eat-anything-if-you-r-pregnant thread!

rollerbaby · 29/06/2010 11:49

Weird question of the day. Sometimes the baby kicks downwards on to my cervix - does anyone else get that? Feels really weiiirrrddd like my fanjo is throbbing.

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 29/06/2010 11:57

Laurie! How are you? Did you survive Glastoburn?

skihorse · 29/06/2010 12:00

reggie Tbh I didn't read the replies - but I do hope they're crying in to their cammomile tea & white bread dust sandwiches whilst wailing "won't somebody think of the children?".

I'm having major bump envy - at the outdoor pool yesterday there were a handful of women who were absolutely enormous. I'm full-term on Thursday and still relatively small. Jailbait assures me that I walk like a pregnant duck though...

Right, off to the midwife then getting bed-leg extenders. Glamma glamma.

Muser · 29/06/2010 12:14

I haven't even been given a list of what I'm not allowed to eat. And I had 2 glasses of wine on Friday night.

SilverSky · 29/06/2010 12:19

Is it wrong or offensive to consider perusing sale rale in Evans? Am thinking poss maternity favourable bargains to be had? ESP as they cater for generous buzwams.

laurielou · 29/06/2010 12:50

vag WAKE UP!!!! Yeah, I survived Glastoburn. Burnt my lip fanks to over-use of lip balm & burnt the inside of my nose each time I went for a pee. Eew, those toilets are rank.

Apart from that, I had a ball

Didn't see skater. Funny that, considering I have no idea what she looks like & there were approximately a gazillion people there.

I'm a bit cross that cunty hasn't updated us. Doesn't she know we all need to know .

Left over poppers all round....

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 29/06/2010 12:54

Gin is freakin' out at the Palace a bit, poor love - she ain't listening to advice but know you'll all be concerned for her.

While I'm awake - casp & fanny, I'd like to reiterate what the others say, your tales of early days motherhood are inspiring and are v much helping me to peek over the abyss with (slightly) less fear than before. This is what I have loved about MN and particularly the palace-cum-deli since I got here, it really helps to keep The Fear in perspective.

Fishslaps to all

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 29/06/2010 12:56

*isnotfair that I can virtually snooze and not actually

reginaMonologue · 29/06/2010 13:15

silver being undeniably fat (pre-pregnancy size 20) and enormous now (mid pregnancy size 22/24) I don't see any issue looking in Evans for maternity clothes, even if you're a svelt lovely lady - they will be much cheaper than those defined as specifically "maternity wear" I'm sure. Thanks to my Yo-Yo dieting I'm lucky enough to have a range of clothes that I hope will last me till the end of pregnancy, oh, with the exception of some leggins that I bought because they are handy for whipping down during scans/exams/foreplay....

The other place you might look is simplybe.co.uk - they cater for bigger sizes as well, and I think they may even have an actual maternity section or some such...

PollyPoo · 29/06/2010 13:48

Silver have you tried Blooming Marvellous or Crave Maternity? I've not bought anything yet (and hoping not to) but did get a few bits from both places last time. At the time Crave did some really nice 'dressy' dresses. Might be worth a try? (Soz, feel free to ignore if you've already tried these...) Also, Asos and Very both have a maternity range now too.

organiccarrotcake · 29/06/2010 13:59

cunty wowowowow - sooooo excited! Want info!

ski PMSL @ thread, your comments and replies. I started to write a reply and then couldn't be bothered. I was going to mention you eating raw prawns but thought I'd better not .

However, I kind of understand where women are coming from because as someone pointed out, it's really, really hard to evaluate these risks because getting the stats is really tough. Clearly worrying about an ice cream is nuts but I wonder how the health service goes about trying to reduce the risks to mums and babies without causing this terrific mass panic?

FannyPriceless · 29/06/2010 14:22

Hope it's all going well for cunty!

ski You do well to take the softly softly approach with your mum. Sorry if my advice sounded a bit mean but I have learnt from watching my poor sister. She (possibly unwisely) moved back to our home town when starting a family, determined to 'mend things with Mother'. They have had some serious emotional show downs over the years, e.g. joint counselling sessions, etc. After each big effort my sis has ended up more hurt when the old behaviour invariably resurfaces. The yo-yo relationship has become such a major part of her life.

In contrast I have probably taken the cheat's approach: live on the other side of the world, don't have any expectations of a great emotional connection, simply get on from a distance. It certainly seems easier.

reggie thanks for concern about my broken fanny. Still having pains and bleeding, but no longer fall-down-in-agony pains or gushing-like-a-fire-hose bleeding - now a bit milder all round. Have now read that after pains and bleeding can sometimes go for months! (Did not know this.)

By the way - the requested baby detail for the PESHes: I have typed all this one-handed while BF. We're on the sofa with my feet up. Boy is in rugby hold attached to my (gigantic) right breast, supported by the widgey pillow with another pillow on top. Surprisingly comfy (apart from the first 60 secs of power latch - perhaps should have called him Dyson?). He is half snoozing and doesn't seem to want to come off. He is wearing a Baby Patch cross-over vest and a nappy. (Inane details, but you did ask!)

organiccarrotcake · 29/06/2010 14:46

He's wearing a nappy?
