Just to throw another slant on it - I charged into the hospital at 36 weeks with DD after I had a waters leakage (well, a kind of weird pop and gush, but not a huge one. Enough to wet the bed though.) after lots of panic and excitement I was sent back home with the message to call the midwife asap if anything else happened. And then nothing did happen for 5 and a half very long weeks. That's babies for ya! You won't be able to plan anything to be on time again for YEARS! Hell, I couldn't even get out of the house on time with DD today as she reached the trying to be independent stage where she screams if I try and help her put her shoes on.

Backinthebox · 23/06/2010 10:26

All you girlies with less than a month to go - get your bags packed now! Trust me on this one, you do not want to go to hospital with a bag your man has packed for you. He will pack random bizarre things for you and sweets and entertainment for him and nothing at all for the baybee as it will not occur to him till he sees it that that is what you are going for! (OH brought me a laptop and some colouring in crayons to keep me occupied in hospital, but no food or clothes . On the plus side, when it became clear I needed a breast pump he went out and bought the most expensive one he could find, cause it's a gadget, innit? And men understand gadgets.)

My baybee has just started getting hiccups - very faint and cute right now, but if last time is anything to go by, will get increasingly annoying over the next few weeks, especially when they happen at 3am and baybee responds by thrashing around in frustration at them.

BTW I thought you would like to know a thing I learnt yesterday; If you spend ages and ages putting up one of those giant inflatable wallowing pools in the garden and then finally have a hot day to get in it on, don't assume that just because she has never pooed in the public swimming baths that DD will not poo in your own pool. Especially not great when she is having a naked splasharound.

CUNextTuesday · 23/06/2010 10:27

sqweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Competitive childbirth!!

Had back and front pains in bed this morning too, but they seem to have stopped

I shall now go and make a cigar out of toilet paper to poke that plug out...

iggypiggy · 23/06/2010 10:28

ski am gonna put the stuff out today I think then we can both pack TONIGHT too

well last week it was estimated at 6lb 9oz - it may put on 200g per week now (I know I am mixing my pounds and grams, but the doctor did it and I've lost my ability to do maths at the moment!) so in theory is on target for 8lb 12 oz or something if it arrive on due date (which it prolly won't) I have my next scan (number 7 million) on Monday - so will know more then..

boxy that's a long wait!!

Thank fuck am not at work this week is all I can say... my un-air conditioned loft room would be v. unpleasant in the hot weather...

Scorpette · 23/06/2010 10:29

I don't normally lurk here too much, but was so happy for Drom that I wanted to see your reactions too and now it looks like it might be Casper's time to ensprogulate! And I just wanted to say that me, my bro and every single relative on my Mum's side was born at 34-36 weeks with zero probs whatsoever (and all blessed with longevity too) - am going back at least 150 years of births here - so please don't worry too much about the 37 week thing. If it IS your time, Curlers, then I wish you all the luck in the world and will be on tenterhooks for you

And good luck to all of you

FannyPriceless · 23/06/2010 10:30

curly May I just say FAAAABBBBBADOODLE! I em vey excited! And fwiw I think your attitude is spot on. Get yourself organised and relaxed, don't panic, make yourself feel nice, etc.

One thing you haven't mentioned though: what are your plans for keeping us updated? Will there be a live web feed? This is a most important consideration. (Though obviously I set a poor example as all my good intentions of using MrP's Blackleberry turned out to be a bit hopeless when I realised I couldn't even work the damned thing and Mumsnet is practically unreadable on it.)

Poor cunty though. Do you feel your thunder is being stolen? Or will you join the race and as vag suggested, have PESHbaby twins?

iggypiggy · 23/06/2010 10:33

scorpy lovely to see you in here

skihorse · 23/06/2010 10:36

fanny You can catch all the action at www.curlysfannycam.com

cunty You need to get a nail hooked under it and peel it away.

boxer Yes, I'm not sure jailbait would manage anything but an outfit for Julian and a facecloth for me.

FannyPriceless · 23/06/2010 10:37

X-post cunty - YES! The baby-race is on!

scorpy my darling, so good to see you!
What a lucky BESH-thread you have going on there! Hope to see you mentioned in dispatches at some point too! (Well, at least before I get kicked off this thread for hanging around too long.)

iggypiggy · 23/06/2010 10:41

boxy and other experts - please to suggest some foods for hospital bag? I have no idea what will be sensible... If I have my way I'll pack Haribo tangfastics and crisps... (I don't currently eat these things, before anyone says 'no wonder you haz fat baybee', I would just like to... )

cunts I have told you - is friday for you

PollyPoo · 23/06/2010 10:45

Come on Cunty, get a move on! Go for a nice gentle walk if things have stopped - it started me off again with Boo. I think it is good to be up and moving about - give gravity a helping hand and all that. Hell, I can barely contain my excitement today!

CurlyCasper · 23/06/2010 10:47

Hush now, please direct your excitement towards the BESH Palace. There will be no news here for some hours to come. And even then it might not be from me...

I have a day assessment appointment at 2pm. MW I just spoke to really didn't sound bovvered at all. SFF not impressed at possibility of sitting in a hospital, dealing with a false alarm, while footie is on. I think he thought we'd go in straight away and get some answers. He'd have been happy to stay if it was The Real Deal, but could have got away if it wasn't. He's in between nights, so could really do with some R+R.

Bodily news: - Relatively painless contractions (bh?)about every 10 mins, but not that regular. Some more intense than others but really not bothering me. Show no longer showing, but think drips and drabs to be expected. I am, all the while, mindful of my mother's two pretty painless, symptom-less 37-week births and would not be surprised if it just crept up on me (scared to go poo in case it's a baybee! ). Nah, I am still chilled.

scorps lovely of you to pop over my dear

Hossie no likey laptops and phone shiz, so I doubt you'll be getting a live birth story. Might just go quiet for a while until I decide what I am comfortable with appearing on here.

CUNextTuesday · 23/06/2010 10:49

No, no thunder stolen, healthy babies is what we want, whenever they come.

CurlyCasper · 23/06/2010 10:49

shit, forgot to say scorps I'm praying, spoon ribbon tying, widdershin rubbing, sacrificing and body part crossing for you to join the MSDP. You deserve it

CurlyCasper · 23/06/2010 10:50
SkaterGrrrrl · 23/06/2010 10:57

Hey bumperlicious chicks

Well this thread is hotting up, isnt it? Ooooh, collustrum + show curly!

I have my first NCT class tomorrow night! As DH has already gone to Glastonbury ; I am taking my groovy liberal Dutch friend along. How long can we let people think we are a lesbian couple before I will be forced to admit I am really in a dull nuclear family?

Going to Glasto on Friday, cant wait, bring on the sunshine and the hippy crap!

Also, I can officially no longer see my fanjo.

Have we opened a book on who is going to pop next?

CUNextTuesday · 23/06/2010 11:01

All bets are off

PollyPoo · 23/06/2010 11:04
rots · 23/06/2010 11:29

cas excellent news from MW - reassuring Gosh, contractions and everthing.

aktulee I'm getting one as we speak but I'm not stealing thunder, 'tis a standard BH!

box interesting they "let" you go on after waters broke.. did they talk about infection? When I was in hospital there was a girl there who'd been induced following waters breaking about 4 weeks early and she told me she'd been told "she'd had no choice". Baby was perfect and gorgeous :-) I've always been concerned about waters breaking and infection meaning I'd be hospitalised but it's really interesting and positive to hear your story that it doesn't necessarily mean induction, and they can just let you be (hurrah).

at ski's pathetic apostrophe's excuse

PerfectDromedary · 23/06/2010 11:38

Hello. I am head-in-the-sanding at the moment. But I do seem to have a positive test for baybee.

How the fuck did you guys do anything between testing and 12 weeks? I am useless at work today.

Am cheering you on, casp & cunty. PESH race!

FannyPriceless · 23/06/2010 11:39

What do we want?
TMI!
When do we want it?
NOW!

CUNextTuesday · 23/06/2010 11:41

Drom!! We've made up the 12 week armchair in your honour! It has a well stocked virtual mini-bar in order to get you from 4 to 12 weeks with minimal consciousness

SkaterGrrrrl · 23/06/2010 11:43
