Jodie, sorry you're feeling ill and good luck at the dentist's today, at least you've booked the appointment and it will all be over soon. My DP has had a broken tooth for about 6 months and complains about it all the time, but I think he's just scared!

Sounds like you need to put your feet up, hope you feel better soon.

CLB1 · 14/06/2010 10:26

Morning All,

Ages seens I've come on, so much happening with everyone.
Good luck with everyone and their scans this week.. Mines on Wednesday at 11.15.

So 2 things -
Does anyone else feel strangled by their boobs when they lay down? They sort of fall back and make the skin gather under my neck, it freaks me out lol
I found stretch marks on saturday on my tummy. I lost about 8lbs when i started being sick. but for the last couple of weeks ive stayed the same weight if not lost a 1 lb. So no extra weight from eating and now stretch marks I am mortified. I'm only 11+3 and its my 1st child.

Back to work tomorrow after 3 weeks off sick with sickness. sickness seemed to evapourate about saturday but extremely tired but not able to sleep. Trying to figure out what I am worry about?

Hope everyone is well and i agree we are all here to support each other through the good times and the bad, so vent away, were here to support

SlightlyTired · 14/06/2010 10:38

Morning ladies. Hope everyone had a good weekend, and for those of you having scans today, best of luck!!.

JodieO, I am getting similar faintness episodes. I have low blood pressure so it is not that surprising but I didn't have anything like this with my first. I took DD for a long walk yesterday, as I try to do about 3 times a week, and when I was about half way around I really thought I might keel over. Went all clammy and shaky and short of breath, and found it difficult to walk in a straight line. (DH has since sensibly said that if I am going to go off tramping around the countryside then I probably need to take my mobile from now on...) I think it probably has something to do with all the extra work my body is doing, with all that extra blood etc - and pushing DD in her buggy over rough ground on a warm day is hard work at the best of times...I got her to get out and push it for me at one point!

CLB1 my boobs have never been big enough to even move when I lie down, more's the pity. But stretch marks...I think it's a matter of genetics as to whether you get them - and unfortunately can be caused by weight loss as well as gain (it's a cruel world). Don't worry too much - they do fade.

Seomum, welcome, and on the point about it being bad luck to get baby clothes before the birth...that just sounds like your sister's personal superstition to me. I'd have been cross if someone had said that to me - don't we have enough to worry about?! Anyway, when you've got a newborn on your hands, the last thing you need to do is start clothes shopping...

NickiSue · 14/06/2010 11:33

CLB1 get some Palmers Coccoa Butter (Boots), it's not too expensive, definitely not anywhere near Bio-Oil prices but should help with stretch marks. I have huge amounts of them (I have always had them, even when skinny oh so long ago- as have my sisters - odd!) but after DS they have turned silver/pale and are hardly noticeable.

JodieO Sorry you are having a bit of a crap time of it! I too get quite breathless and occasionally faint but it sounds like we both do too much rushing around and of course have the extra blood and hormones coursing around. Do see the midwife/GP though if its getting worse or worrying you x

chloesbaby · 14/06/2010 13:01

hi all,
been ages since i posted so thought i would say hello. i am 12 weeks today so feel like celebrating the milestone with you all! just had a slice of chocolate cake and tea to mark the occasion.
still no scan date for me but have left a message with the midwife asking about it. i am slightly concerned the appt could have been lost in the post - a congrats card my mum sent a few weeks ago never arrived - so am a bit suspicious.
anyway, i also have the start of a lovely bump! DH called me big bump the other day and i welled up (oh the joys of the hormones). i also, embarrassingly, nearly burst into tears on Friday in Asda when i saw a newborn.
started buying maternity clothes now as my jeans are no longer doing up. got some nice stretchy mat jeans in asda and some tops from H&M.
roll on the proper bumps! and congrats to everyone who has had their scans

emmaxmas · 14/06/2010 13:11

good luck to all those who have scans today x

ReshapeWhileDamp · 14/06/2010 13:16

Hello! Hoppe everyone else with scans today has had good news.

I'm feeling about 100% better after the scan this morning, which showed a good healthy fetus wriggling away exactly where it should be! I was so dreading the scan - I can't shake the idea that it'll be another MMC, but today I had a Midwife-Sonographer (ever had one of those before? I didn't know midwives trained to do ultrasounds) and she was fab. Really reassuring, wasn't phased when I told her how nervous I was and that I just wanted the first bit (when they identify if it's a viable pregnancy or not) to be over asap. She found the baby, and the heartbeat, in less than 5 seconds! And she was LOVELY. It makes a huge difference, having a sonographer who has a background in caring for women already.

Anyway, all measurements (that we were having done) seemed fine and EDD is still 26th December! Baby wasn't bouncing about like DS had been at this stage, but was writhing and wriggling a bit. 61mm crown-rump, apparently.

Afterwards, we stopped off at Mothercare for the obligatory and traditional post-good-scan visit (after bad scans, it's Sainsbury instead, to stock up on blue cheese, sushi and booze....) to see if they had anything halfway wearable in summer maternity dresses. There was a nice maxi dress I liked (100% polyester WHYYYY? Sweaty!) but the boobs were incredibly tight even on a 16 and the next size they had, 20, was like a bell tent! I think I'll save my money and get a normal one - they're not usually fitted, after all.

ReshapeWhileDamp · 14/06/2010 13:41

Hoppe??

BBump74 · 14/06/2010 13:44

Hi all - first post as didn't want to jinx myself before 12 week scan! ( or equally hadn't really accepted there was a baby in there until I saw it). All fine so I can now relish actually feeling pregnant ( although all that amounts to is a stretched stomach that looks like its got triplets in it!)DD 22/12 so convinced it will be a Christmas baby!

WhatWillSantaBring · 14/06/2010 13:49

Congrats Reshape that is great news for you, you must be relieved.

I love your post-scan visit ceremony - if my scan tomorrow is bad I'll definitely be copying that one and stopping off for a wedge of stilton the size of Gloucestershire with a gallon of fine red wine. And also, thanks for the tip of telling the MW / sonographer that you just want the viablity bit done asap - will be telling mine the same thing tomorrow.

Anyone else waiting till tomorrow / Wednesday and trying to stop themselves from reading up on MMCs? I'm so nervous and can't stop looking, even though it just makes it worse.

[worried emoticon] [As a friend pointed out that worry, tiredness and guilt are three emotions that you'll never be without as a parent, why doesn't MN have these three emoticons? Or do they assume that its a default position and we're all feeling tired, worried and guilty at every moment in the day ]

notso · 14/06/2010 13:53

Afternoon All,
Congratulations to those who've had good scan news

Sympathies for everyone, (including me) who is still feeling grotty.

Saw my lovely midwife today, she's the one I saw for DD and DS so I am pleased about that.
Unfortunately I am officially high risk, she made me an appointment to see the consultant next week, and although I can ask him, she said it's unlikely that I will be able to have a homebirth.
She did say that due to the previous births being in her words 'perfect', I won't have to go into the hospital at the first twinge, like I had to with the other two, and there is now a birthing pool on the labour ward so that's made me feel slightly less disappointed.
She also said they will keep a close eye on the size of the baby I has a big jump from DD, 7lbs to DS 9lb5oz, she said they may not let me go overdue this time.
Discussing the previous births made everything seem very real and when she was booking all my appointments time seems to be flying by.

Bought a bargain maternity coat from ASOS, and my sister has lent me her humongous Cath Kidston Poncho for festival rain, have also ordered a couple of bits from Mothercare.

WhatWillSantaBring · 14/06/2010 14:30

Do you mind me asking notso why you were high risk? If its none of my business, do say so, I won't be offended.

That is disappointing for you, but hopefully a baba at the end of it is the really important thing so don't get too down-hearted. Sorry you're feeling grotty.

japhrimel · 14/06/2010 14:53

JodieO - could your bp be low? That's the symptoms I get with low bp.

Anyone suffering with PGP or SPD already? I have hypermobile hips anyway and they're really hurting today - I think a day in London with quite a bit of walking and a long car journey at the end was too much.

For whoever mentioned superstitions about having baby stuff in the house - yes, I've heard of it, but it's not practical at all. Baby clothes need to be washed before use and you need to have everything ready for when babs arrives! We're just waiting until after the 20 week scan to buy anything big.

I don't think I posted that I got the letter from the Oxford Radcliffe with my combined results. I got a bit scared when it arrived on Friday as they said we'd hear by Friday if we were high-risk, but the combined result was 1:100,000!

Everyone's been told now and it feels more real, but a bit weird. I was at a hen do yesterday and all the girls were looking at my scan pics and asking questions!

Wholelottalove · 14/06/2010 16:21

Hi everyone and espeically sending thoughts to scan buddies today and this week.

Reshape congrats on scan news, that's fab!

japhrimel that's good news about your results.

whatwillsantabring - yes I did this last night. Had horrible nervous feeling and was looking up MMC and got myself in total state. Which was silly as have almost been positive about feeling movements last couple days...and turns out I was right!

Had scan today and baby was right where I have been feeling the twitches so pretty sure it wasn't just wind :0 Measuring 13+4 so a day in front which gives me EDD of 16th Dec. Everything where it ought to be and baby making some interesting movements - looked like it was bending itself over backwards, very odd. Very relieved all ok. Going to let everyone at work know officially (I gather I've been the subject of a bit of gossip last few days!)

Got scan date for start Aug at same time so we'll decide whether or not we definitely do/don't want to know sex before then

Wholelottalove · 14/06/2010 16:23

wwsb just re-read and I don't mean you're being silly for worrying obviously, just I was annoyed with myself for getting so freaked out and spending all night awake worrying and worrying. I think it is totally normal to be nervous before scans. Good luck for tomorrow.

WhatWillSantaBring · 14/06/2010 17:05

Oh, I know I'm being silly. Worrying is such a pointless thing to do, as all the worrying in the world can't change anything if it is bad, and if it is good then the worrying was just a waste of energy!! Still, we can't help how we feel. Right, must stop obsessing. Going to try to go for a bike ride this evening to keep my mind off it.

SeoMum · 14/06/2010 17:19

Hi all

JodieO and SlightlyTired - yeah I thought she was being a bit OTT but don't mind her looking after them for a few months, save them cluttering up my house atm

I am 12 + 1 weeks and in the past 6 weeks have lost 8lbs in weight is this normal? It is from the sickness and cutting out a lot of crap from my diet. Just concerned I am getting too thin, gone up a cup size in bra and have a slight bump but lost weight everywhere else. I am 5'8" and now 8st12 which is the least I have weighed for years.

Good news about everyones scan I still can't believe I'm pregnant and hoping it'll sink in at my scan on wed.
@Notso I am high risk as well which has upset the MIL as she only believes in home births.
@whatwillsantabring Try not to worry I am avoiding it too and still feel like at my scan on Wed they will tell me it is just bad indegestion or something

kiwi5 · 14/06/2010 18:00

WWSB - i worked myself up into a total state before my scan, huge row with DH, then drove off into the countryside for an hour! he was frantic and thought i had done a proper runner! i had been convinced there was nothing in there. just keep breathing and talking. will send you some positive hugs. all the best xx

miffster - i get itchy nipples and have to itch or rub them, which looks v bizarre and DH keeps thinking i am trying to suggest something (fat chance - too knackered) also get v itchy just below belly button.

had a lovely weekend with some girlfriends, who were super excited about twiglet.
still constantly exhausted, come on blooming bloomingness!

WalkTheDog · 14/06/2010 18:55

Hi all

Hope you feel better JodieO. I was at the dentist Fri and back today. I have a white filling on one of my front teeth and it fell out. It's a new dentist as we moved earlier this year. I am quite nervous until I get to know the dentist, but I liked her as soon as met her. Treatment was excellant, last dentist was good, but this place is great, and it's free

CLB1 it's quite common to have insomina when pg, so if you can't think of any worries, it'll be your 24 hour party animal in your tummy

RWD glad you got to do the Mothercare trip after your scan

welcome BBump74, glad scan went well

WWSB step away from all the MMC info, you can convinence yourself way to easily - I know I'm somone who has.

sorry that it looks like your home birth is out notso japhrimel have you hypermobility? Two sites that are quite good for info are : hypermobility hypermobility.org/pregnancy.php
and physio site (good for everyone)- leaflets you can read online
www.acpwh.org.uk/content/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=53&Itemid=12

WLL glad your scan went well

Seomum have you been sick or not eating? Any major concerns speak to MW or GP.

Started going through my clothes last night as pretty much everything now doesn't fit - argh and I'm only 11+4. I have only put on 3 lbs, but my bra and cup size has gone up (rib cage has gone up 1" which is odd) and my waist line has gone up a fair bit. Have a bit of a bump, but looks more like a pot belly to me! The rest of my body is the same size as before, in fact OH reckons my bum/hips have got smaller - maybe in comparison to my waistline (would be a good thing as I put weight on end of last year)

Miffster · 14/06/2010 20:00

Here's something to encourage us all

Babies born in winter are bigger brighter and more successful

Hooray for all the good scan news!

japhrimel · 14/06/2010 20:04

WalkTheDog - thanks for the links. Yep, I have hypermobility syndrome.

93pjb · 14/06/2010 20:55

Love the link Miffster! I was feeling v. guilty about a Christmas birthday especially as DD is Jan and it is rubbish for her - now I know I am clearly doing the best by my children I am much happier .

Glad to hear about all the good scans today. Hope those we haven't heard from are also all well.

I also wanted to say thank you for sharing ladies - you might feel worried about whingeing but I find this thread with all its ups and downs a real help and quite inspirational at times.

JodieO · 14/06/2010 21:00

Well I saw the dentist, need to take the filling out and redo it Not looking forward to it at all, she could have done it today but I put it off until next week. Hoping I won't need a needle as I'm so scared but we'll see, it needs doing apparently so, I don't know.

My back and hips have been killing me. I had spd in last pregnancy although they called it pelvic girdle pain and it's come back again. Seeing the dr tomorrow so will mention it then.

lavita thanks, went ok, could have been worse!

CLB1 I've also lost weight but gained bigger boobs, noticed a couple of small ones on them the other night. Only got them on my boobs last time, nothing helped though really although I use the cocoa butter cream.

SlightlyTired sounds awful for you, make sure you definitely take your mobile with you next time! Do you get palpitations with yours too? I get it a lot when I feel faint, also really breathless.

NickiSue Thanks, hard to slow down isn't it, especially if you already have dc. Seeing the gp tomorrow so will take it from there.

Reshape Glad the scan went well, what did you end up buying? I'm hoping for a trip for a few baby bits after Wednesday's scan.

Bbump74 welcome

whatwillsantabring mine is on wednesday, I found the heartbeat with a doppler the other night so I'm not as worried as I was, plus I had a couple of early scans due to spotting and pain.

notso I'm also high risk, have a consultant appt in a few weeks to see what they want to do.

japhrimel My bp is low yes but was with last baby and I never experienced anything like this, feels so odd. I have PGP, had it for weeks now but it's getting worse as time goes on and when I do more. After walking I feel awful and in pain. Had lots of walking yesterday and today it really hurts. My hips, legs, back are all killing me and I feel crampy. Can't stand it. Going to ask for a referral tomorrow at gps. How do you deal with it? Good news about your scan

wholelotta Glad your scan went well. Are you leaning towards finding out the sex or not?

Seomum I've lost over half a stone so far and still not put any back on. I'm always the same in the first 12 weeks though so it's normal for me.

kiwi I think the itching could be stretching, cream might help

walkthedog I don't feel much better if I'm honest, have so much stress at the moment that I'm finding it really hard to cope. Everything just seems to be getting worse and worse

LittleB · 14/06/2010 21:11

Just a quick high as battery is about to run out. Good luck for all the scans tomorrow, I've got mine wednesday and will be back here weds evening hopefully. Hope everyone is keeping well.

OnlyWantsOne · 14/06/2010 21:27

hey all glad all the scans are going well (seems like an age since I had mine) - my 20 week scan is on July 15th

Cant wait to be 16 weeks on Wednesday

JodieO sorry your ex is being a shit, mine is too - I saw him today at the contact centre and his eyes nearly popped out of his head when he saw my bump, although obviously he didnt speak to me (arse hole).

Can feel wiggles and little kicks im sure of it, and strong heartbeat on doppler

Have my 16 week MW appt on Thursday, cant remember from last time, but will she be taking yet more bloods from me?
