And don't forget the stats thread

Off on my hols for a week, not sure if I'll have internet access, so hope you all have a great week

CherylAnnTweedy · 02/07/2010 12:29

Enjoy Lavita.

Does anyone else get a weird pain at the front of their pelvis? It's mostly in the evening, but is hurting today. Really only when I'm walking, especially if I twist round when walking or going upstairs.

Strix · 02/07/2010 12:54

Sounds like softening ligament not holding the pelvis together like they used to. 'tis normal, but can turn into painful SPD. I get the former, but never so bad that it was painful. Just spoiled my running routine for the pregnancy.

japhrimel · 02/07/2010 13:40

aimee0211 - we're just tossing names between us occasionally, haven't asked anyone else. Having said that, some names I would've included on the short list have been vetoed because of what other people will think - I'm a major LOTR fan and have been since childhood, so way before the movies, lol. Might get Arwen back in as a middle name though as a colleague of DH's named her baby girl Scarlett (after the Gone With The Wind character) and DH now likes that, so he's coming round to more unusual names.

miffster - great news about your brother!

Where will you be moving with your DH's job? We're hoping to be moving too - to the US - but have put it off until after the baby is born - I refused to sell the house and emigrate when heavily pregnant! We've also decided to wait until after the baby is born and we know we're going to sell this house - moving twice seemed like an awful waste of money and energy.

notso - Yep Gatorade is a sports drinks. Unlike many others on the market atm, it doesn't contain artificial sweeteners and also contains a range of electrolytes - it's designed for proper rehydration, unlike many of the so-called sports drinks which are just nice tasting water.

CherylAnnTweedy - is the pain right at the front, like you've been kicked in the groin? It sounds like possible SPD. I've got it already - highly recommend getting a physio referral asap and starting swimming - the earlier you start addressing the issue, the more you can do to help it.

squistle · 02/07/2010 13:55

It turns out that my appt was a little bit of a let down. Got in, blood pressure taken, weight taken, doctor asked me if I was ok, 20 quid in the till and out the door.

PJen · 02/07/2010 16:19

Emma I am sure you are a wonderful person and please be kind to yourself. I am happy you are getting help. I went through a depression phase after my divorce from ex-h and I know how horrible it can be. Hang in there and relaxing in sun DOES help...

For girls who like shopping, I have found loads of good maternity internet sites and am already above budget as have ordered 7 wonderful dresses and am contemplating about 3 others... can't wait for them to arrive. Check these out

Sorry to hear about your news Jools. When will they tell you when you can have the other tests, if your having them?

Hope you feel better soon Emma.

Haven't had any pains in the front of my pelvis but I definitely feel like I'm walking with a balloon inside me. Weird Still haven't felt any movements yet any one else?

CherylAnnTweedy · 02/07/2010 18:08

Blinking 'eck! £35 for a vest! Even if I was earning shedloads I couldn't bring myself to pay that. Jeez!

Thanks for the advice re pelvis pain. It's a few weeks 'til I next see my mw, so I'll hope it doesn't get any worse before then. If it does I guess it'll be off to the gp's for a referral.

mumatron · 02/07/2010 21:39

some nice stuff there pjen thanks. still not bought any maternity clothes. am hoping i will be able to cope with maxi dresses and baggy tops for awhile longer.

i'm also starting to get a bit of pelvic pain was hoping to avoid it this time. needed crutches before for spd and hated using them.

heartburn is my ailment of choice today. anyone got any tips apart from gaviscon or anything that needs to be chewed? gaviscon is just too thick and i can't stand the chalky taste of rennies etc.

Wholelottalove · 02/07/2010 22:53

Hi all. Just wanted to check in as haven't been on for a few days. I will try and catch up with everyone's news over the weekend and hope everyone is doing well.

All fine here. I'm feeling more energetic now the iron tablets are kicking in, but very busy at work. 16 weeks and still getting kicks here and there but nothing regular yet.

DuelingFanjo · 03/07/2010 16:30

hey there everyone. I just went to mothercare and felt like a right idiot. Was trying to do research into pushchairs/prams and Crib/Cradle Mattresses. My house is tiny (as is my Nissan Micra) so I need something compact but I like the idea of a whole travel system. One of the people there showed me a few different makes but I am still none the wiser. All I know is I am going to try and get something on ebay rather than pay £500+ on a pushchair!

I need to get a cradle mattress as my mum's partner is making me a swinging crib and needs the mattress size to work from. Am so lucky to have him do it for me as it'll be unique and he's very good at woodworking.

Anyway - the whole trip made me feel clueless lol. I have no idea what you do with a baby!

mumatron · 03/07/2010 18:25

i was just in mothercare df. a already have dc and still get overwhelmed by all the stuff.

i have probably picked the pram i will get. i say probably as i change my mind like the wind. saying that i did seesomeone pushing an oyster pram in town today and it looked lovely, first time i have seen one. not sure if would fit in a micra though.

dp bought one of those things for listening to the babys hb aswell. tried to tell him there was prob no chance of hearing it this early but we managed to find it eventually. very faint though.

DuelingFanjo · 03/07/2010 18:42

oooh - what time were you there? Maybe you were the woman I backed into by the breast-pumps

I have a thing to listen to the baby but it says I probably won't hear anyting until 21 weeks and I am not really sure what I am listening out for

mumatron · 03/07/2010 18:59

i was there about 3.30 ish. i was the slightly harrassed looking lady who hasn't brushed her hair yet today dithering over maternity bras for about 40 min.

our listening thing (whats it bloody called again?) is the same, should be used from month 5. i just laid down on the sofa and moved it around for aggeess! i finally found it after putting it really low down on my left hand side, tucking the thing in my knickers and not moving an inch. dp could here it too. not ashamed to say i cried a little!

PJen · 03/07/2010 19:19

Girls, I woke up last night with a shooting pain in my calve. It was so bad that I started screaming in sleep. Had worst muscle cramp ever. DH was so scared as I was crying from pain. I had muscle cramps before but nothing even close to this. I googled and it turned out that it's one of the lovely side effects of pregnancy. Went to boots and picked up Mg/Cal tablets but I am still scared of sleeping tonight

mumatron · 03/07/2010 19:26

pjen i had this with my ds. it is awful. the best thing i found was to put my feet in the bath or on something really cold. i used to wake up in tears every night. i really feel for you.

mumatron · 03/07/2010 19:28

*empty bath that should say.

Chooster · 03/07/2010 19:40

Aw lovely you can hear your babies! I've never had one of those listening things.

DF - I know there is so much choice! Even since my youngest was born there are a ton of new buggies / travel systems etc... I've had a number of the years a couple of which I sold on because either me or my DS's didn't get on with them. Most of my buggy mistakes have been impulse buys . But the one that hasn't was a Graco travel system we bought in the US. Its been fab and is still going... Its become our buggy that we keep at my mums house near the beach but its ace. So much so I'm thinking of getting another this time. The basket is big, they fold down easily and are pretty small / neat, easy to manouvure and not too pricey. oh, and I love the trays on the parent handle and in front of the baby too. I thought they were a bit gimmicky but SO handy for keys / cans, snacks for a toddler, toys etc...

Beautiful day at the beach today and now youngest is in bed, eldest is on his way and DH is out watching footie!!! Ahhhh bliss... Nice quiet house to myself soon

Chooster · 03/07/2010 19:43

Oooh missed your post Pjen - sounds nasty... Fingers crossed you dont get it tonight...

NickiSue · 03/07/2010 20:49

Hi All.
Lovely day at the beach today as a belated treat for DS's 4th birthday (was Thurs). Turns out skin in pg can be more prone to burning than usual (I look like crispy bacon despite ooodles of suncream!).

DF Try you local NCT sale for a buggy, you can find times/dates etc on their website- usually in very good ocndition etc and you can see before you buy which you can't on ebay (I was Ebay bitten with DS1).

PJen It's bloody awful isnt it??! The first time it happened I liteally vaulted out of bed I was in so much agony! Apparently pottasium helps and bananas are as good a source as any.

Sorry othe mentions will have to wait DS "urgently" needs me to read another story

misdee · 03/07/2010 21:20
