mumatron · 21/06/2010 19:27

bloody hell owo how did that happen?!

had the risk scores from the nuchal scan/bloods i had on wed. the risk for ds was 1:15,961, edwards 1:39,000 and patau's 1:123,000, so a very low risk.

are we doing a fb group for dec 2010 then? i will leave it to someone more technical than me to set it up.

OnlyWantsOne · 21/06/2010 20:09

facebook group here

mumatron · 21/06/2010 20:24

i'm in, thanks owo

OnlyWantsOne · 21/06/2010 20:29

hello!! Mumatron - by the way, my real name isnt polly mes meric

OnlyWantsOne · 21/06/2010 20:36

Ive made the group so that the public cant look / see what we are writing - hope thats ok

so now i think you have to get permission to join, i assume thats from me ?

Sorry, its just I dont like the thought of writing stuff on there linked to Mumsnet, and being PG and things and any one being able to read it... hope thats ok

Persnickety · 21/06/2010 20:42

I hate to be a spoil sport, but I don't really want to marry my MN screenname to my realworld name / FB. MN is my place to talk to people when I can't talk to them in RL. For example, still haven't announced pregnancy so it's really good to talk about my nuchal/cvs dilemma here.

I'm sure I sound like a scizophrenic. Really I'm not... and neither am I.

Hi everyone, sorry not been able to catch up but will do over the next couple of days. Been up to Cardiff for the weekend, and had a great time, plus Cardiff is fab...no pollen!!! I didn't sneeze or struggle to breathe or have a headache or streaming eyes for the whole weekend. It was heaven! Now off to do my legs Can't wait 'til Jan when I will be waxed/threaded from eyebrow to toe!

OWO - just sent a request for FB group (MM)

Lavitabella · 22/06/2010 07:46

Hi everyone, I've been down in Cornwall for a few days seeing family and friends and have now realised how fast this thread moves!

Welcome to ilovecats I am also having twins, welcome to the club!

I had an appointment yesterday (15 weeks) to discuss the risks of my pregnancy as the twins are identical. Lots of horrible stuff and have been told I will definitely have a c - section and they are likely to be premature. I am just going to stay positive and hope for the best. I know they just have to outline the risks and all could be hunky dory.

I heard the heartbearts though, so lovely and have a another scan next Tuesday at Queen Charlotte's.

Persnickety · 22/06/2010 09:07

Lavita, you are in good hands. Queen Charlotte is fantastic (and that is coming from someone who rarely compliments the NHS).

Also, there is a lot of misinformation about sections out there. They are not that bad. I have a ;list of recommendations (such as arnica and arrange for someone else to pick the babies up for you whenever possible) which I will happily share with you nearer the time.

Also, a baby born at 37 weeks is not considered premature and yours will probably only be a week or two off of that. I have a friend ahoe has two singletons, each of whom was born about 5 weeks early, and neither had any problems at all.

And when your babies have been born and we are still blooming fat and miserable we will al be very jealous -- at least I will be.

Lavitabella · 22/06/2010 11:24

Thanks Persnickety, I am at West Middlesex but am having extra scans at Queen Charlotte's,tried to transfer there but they are too busy. Although the Dr said if there are complications I could end up there anyway. She said they will do a date for my section at 36/37 weeks but highly likely I could be much earlier. I'm just excited to be pregnant really still in shock at everything

Hope you are feeling ok with all your extra worries, I'm sure everything will be fine. Thanks as well, I will be definitely be tapping into your c - section experience closer to the time. I didn't like the idea of labour much anyway so would of been apprehensive either way!

JodieO · 22/06/2010 11:59

Morning (just) and thanks, feeling better today, trying to concentrate on getting on with things but I know it's looming in a couple of months, sigh.

Had more blood taken just now to check my B12 and iron store levels, then an ECG next week and back to the dr for results.

Have an awful headache and feel so dizzy today everytime I move, really faint. Physio later on as well.

Hope others are having a better day than me, enjoy the sun. Going to watch the budget shortly.

WalkTheDog · 22/06/2010 13:16

afternoon all
long yap - still on a high!

Had my scan - there was a baby there :O, was sleeping but did do a coupe of arm waves. They had a little problem dating but I am now only 11+4, so due date now 7 th Jan. I found the scan quite unpleasant due to full bladder and back pretty sore on the table, but OH got a brilliant view and was getting very emotional. There was a midwife in getting trained so we were in for a long time, in return we got 3 pics.

Went to let OH's folks know, his mum is more than over the moon! His two 3 yr old nieces were there and weren't sure what was going on. One of their mums arrived and took photo of scan because she is sure OH bro won't believe it. We've let OH's other brother know, just the two sisters to go and my brother.

Persnickety · 22/06/2010 13:59

Lavita, how hard did yo try to get into QC? Did you fill out the online form? I find a bit of stroppiness goes a long way in the NHS. :-)

Although, I hear good things about West Mid as well. I used to drive past it every day on my way to work. So you must be relatively close to me.

Aftercare in QC, however, is not that great. It's very crowded. And the private rooms cost a fortune. So, after the delivery you might be better off at WM.

Persnickety · 22/06/2010 14:00

Oh and congrats on the scan WTD.

OP posts:
Lavitabella · 22/06/2010 14:32

Persnickety I live in Old Isleworth and work in Richmond. Where in West London are you?

Private rooms at West Mid are £60 a night so I have already noted my interest. Just see how it goes.

WTD congrats on your scan

Persnickety · 22/06/2010 14:51

Oh, they are like £150 or more at QC. I can't remember. It was five years ago and I decided against one. I am the deepest sleeper in the world so figured if anyone could sleep on a ward I could.

I live in Sunbury (until end of Aug), then probably Twickenham or Whitton. My kids go to school in Twickenham. So we are definitely neighbors. Should meet up for coffee sometime. (and anyone else who wants to come too of course)

OP posts:
WhatWillSantaBring · 22/06/2010 15:58

That's great news WTD about the scan - I hope you're sticking on here even with a Jan due date now.

persnickety - I'm with you in not wanting to reveal my RL name. IME friends can get a bit odd about you telling "strangers" on the internet things before you tell them, so I prefer not to give away very much about who I really am. Not that I have anything to hide, but to me one of the joys of forums like this is that you can be completely honest about your feelings and not worry that people are going to judge you forever more.

I'm feeling very blue and emotional again today (and yesterday) having felt pretty normal for the past week. With a few mcs and fertility problems in my closest group of friends I don't feel I can be completely open about pg as complaining or even talking about it too much makes me feel really insensitve. So feeling rather alone as I don't have any close friends with children (which is very odd for a woman in her thirties, I know!) I also feel guilty that everything in my life is going well - crazy, but there we go.

How do you tell the difference normal hormonal mood swings and antenatal depression? I've had depression in the past and its always so difficult to recognise in yourself - I really don't want to go down that route again.

SpanishLady · 22/06/2010 17:40

Hi - just checking in - had my 16 week appointment today and all still going well.

my experience to date:

weeks 10/11 were the worst - throwing up what felt like once an hour, migraines, dizziness, nightmares - basically the works.

Had my 12 week scan and think he/she has my nose (I have a very straight 'Roman' nose and looked like it has too) - he/she was waving arms and kicking legs like no tomorrow - was a relief to see it and hear its heartbeat (saw the heart as well)

Got my results from nuchal testing - my chances are rated as 1 in 67,000 so pretty good I think.

Now feeling much better (vomiting stopped) and have a small but perfect bump though on the donwside incredibly itchy boobs!

hope all well and those still feeling abit poorly or waiting on 12 weeks scans get where they want to be very soon!

OnlyWantsOne · 22/06/2010 17:54

yay Im not the only one with itchy boobs!!

17 weeks tomorrow, and im fat... will seriously bother myself to take some belly photos and post them x

JodieO · 22/06/2010 18:51

Will try and catch up properly with all the news tomorrow, glad the scan went well though walkthedog

Sorry to keep being so down and miserable here, will try and brighten up a bit.

WalkTheDog · 22/06/2010 19:36

thanks guys

all family now told

will be hanging around on this thread as feel I know you all, and anyway never know when baby might appear. Have popped into Jan thread too. Not sure if I can cope with 2 threads, but I think Jan thread is a bit slower moving than this one

wishx · 22/06/2010 21:51

hey guys!

hear the heartbeat today it was wonderful! i was just wondering does anyone else have really sore hips that get like stuck or really sore and itchy nipples? they are so sensative :/ x

93pjb · 22/06/2010 21:53

Hello all, been away all weekend at a wonderful wedding on Mull which was idyllic in the sunshine (a bit of a change from the Elephant and Castle!). Family were all there so it was very convenient for telling them! Not out at work yet though...

I am 14+2 and today is the first day that I don't feel exhausted and so far not sick too!

Japhrimel I seem to remember reading that antenatal depression is quite common but not really talked about and definitely something to get some support through.

Persnickety and DF, thinking of you and your tests. What a horrible stressful time.

Jodieo, sorry to hear that things are so stressful, I hope he wakes up to what he is putting you and your dcs through.

WTD pleased to hear the good scan news - did you get the bra situation sorted out? Mothercare eventually refunded my order.

I've come to terms with the house falling through - that was so last week! Have seen something else that we will probably put an offer in on. A little worried about buying on the rebound as it were but excited too. Only thing is it is a project - no kitchen, needs new windows throughout etc. Would we be mad to take of that on with a toddler and 2 full-time jobs as well?

Lavitabella · 22/06/2010 22:03

Jodieo Hope you are feeling a bit better, sounds like you've had a tough time lately so you are bound to be feeling a bit down. Do you have close friends and family around? make sure you utilise your support network.

WTD Jan thread is probably moving slower as many people won't have joined yet, I'm sure it will pick up.

Persnickety We will be neighbours if you live in Twickenham, we'll have to meet for coffee. I also want to keep my RL persona semi secret, never can be sure that your boss or friends might see you writing about them!but meeting mumsnet friends for coffee is different

WWSB I have a few friends with kids but the most don't, think I'm putting them off pregnancy with my complaining though. One of my best friends is going through IVF at the moment but we are both supporting each other. I would tell a close friend or partner your worries about depression, but I think it's fairly normal and sensitive to care about your friends feelings and have guilt when things go well. I think mumsnet is a great safe outlet to get things off your chest and we are all here for any support whenever you need any

Spanishlady I am paranoid that my twins are going to get my ears! can't see them properly on the scan though. Gorgeous though that you can see similarities already.

OWO I don't have itchy boobs as yet, but I've had every other symptom so I'm sure I'll get them too. Looking forward to seeing your bump pics. Mine is just starting to properly show.
