Thanks abfab, I'm 26 weeks today and was wondering!

Glad you've all be enjoying the sunshine- what an amazing few weeks we've had! I have been watching the Glastonbury coverage very even though I know I would have been far too hot- Florence and the machine looked awesome

nymphadora · 26/06/2010 21:20

V Grumpy

Far too hot, looking at a hosepipe ban which is a PITA for veg watering & baby is currrently kicking my cervix which really hurts!

Elsa123 · 26/06/2010 22:47

Ooh nymph, the cervix kicking is sensitive isn't it?! I've been getting that too.

Today has been warm but cloudy with a breeze, so just right- but I did have to sleep for an hour as my DH kept me awake last night as he has a bad cold (first one in years) and as a natural consequence was snoring. He was shattered too this morning!

Booked a holiday today! Going to what looks like a lovely holiday cottage in Cornwall right by the beach- it'll be the first time at the beach for our youngest dog and I know he's going to love it. So pleased I have the week off- can't wait.

I hope you all have a lovely and not too hot Sunday.

Elsa123 · 26/06/2010 23:18

I keep meaning to mention this and forgetting- is anyone else's hair changing? Mine is getting lighter!

floozietoozie · 27/06/2010 15:05

I'm in the car with sleeping ds. Just arrived at friends' house but I'm not feeling great - stomach is a bit off. Ds was sick last night just as I put him to bed, so all over bedding, duvet, mattress.... I'm debating whether to alert work to the fact I might not be in. I'm tired anyway because ds woke in the night hungry, not surprisingly after losing his dinner.

When's your holiday Elsa? Sounds lovely.

nymphadora · 27/06/2010 15:49

elsa sorry hair isn't changing (except for looking greyer )

Just been v grumpy in Debenhams. Last shop I tried. Looking for a flowery maxi dress and some dark shorts (not jeans) for dd1. NOt that difficult surely. Apparantly yes. So V hot, woman tried to tell me 10 years old girls only want jeans then tried to query me buying a bra that was underwired. I growled . She sold me it .
I hate Debenhams. Have been trying to spent a £200 voucher there since last year and they never have what I want.

SilverSky · 27/06/2010 17:40

Afternoon ladies. I too hve been grumpy bum this weekend.

I am finding that The slightest thing takes triple the effort and I have to take frequent breaks. Pathetic.

The little person is currently kicking the crap out of me. Last night I had this strange pain and this morningi had short sharp stabbing pains. I have put it all down to growing and stretching.

Heaven knows what I will wear to work tomorrow. Hardly anything fits anymore. Rubbish.

My hair is lighter but I put it down to the sun!

nymphadora · 27/06/2010 18:19

Got a dress from blooming marvellous.Hoping it comes before Saturday now!

moonstorm · 27/06/2010 20:06

Hi all

I've been away for ages! had a rubbish week a couple of weks ago (on top of lots of other things, discovered ILs are coming to stay very hear us for a MONTH over my due date - not very happy, last tim I really needed time to recover. If they had asked insteaad of telling usI would have said fine, but could they leave it until the following month. grr)

I have struggled to find time to post what with writing reports etc.

I'm another who is struggling in the heat!! I keepchecking the weather to see if it'll rain and cool things down! It's comforting to find others are struggling too! Sorry!

Has anyine bought a nice skirt? I can only find dresss, yet have so many lovelytopsthat I normally wear with trousers, that I'd like a skirt to go with them. Thing is, I prefer over the bumpdue to my cs scar, and most I find seem to fit under...

Hope you all manage to get cool!!

AbFabT · 27/06/2010 21:25

No worries, SeaShells. Always nice to know when we reach the milestones!

Phew, it's hot. DH is researching air conditioning units!
We went to Brighton today for the Baby Expo, a smaller version of the Baby Show - got a few little bits and pieces. Two stall-holders wanted to guess the gender of the bump, and both said going by my shape, that it's a girl. One was 100% sure and said she's never been wrong! I remain unconvinced!

Baby is wriggling about nicely, DH saw my tummy move today too, which was lovely.

moonstorm, hope the ILs are more of a help than a hindrance then!
I bought a gorgeous skirt in TKMaxx, it was two sizes up from my usual size and not a special maternity skirt, but fits beautifully. I've also got a simple denim maternity skirt from Mamas and Papas.

NCT are annoying me again - remember they offered me a refund because of the cats, or they offered me the course in the next town. I thought about it, but I don't really want to traipse to the next town, plus it's closer to my due date and I don't want to just do an incomplete course if I deliver early, so I asked for a refund. NOW they tell me there's a £30 admin fee for refunds! Grrr! Or I can have a voucher for the whole amount to spend in their NCT shop. I've had a look at their online shop and none of it is value for money - I search like for like on Amazon, and Amazon is cheaper, plus they haven't got masses of stuff on the NCT site, so I don't see how I'd spend just under £300 on there, or 'save' the £30 I'd be losing if I took this offer as opposed to the cash refund minus admin fee. Grrr again!

Abfab- could they not sort out the hotel rooms then? That's a bit rubbish seen as you're not the one cancelling.

Moonstorm, would they be open to suggestions re the timing of the visit if you asked them to come later? I've got to be honest, I envy the people with parents on both sides (who are helpful anyway). We've only got my mum 30 miles away. My dad died 15 years ago and dp's last year and his mum five years ago, although his dad was too old and distant geographically anyway to help with ds anyway, apart from financially.

Elsa123 · 28/06/2010 09:02

Morning all= Moonstorm- M&S do a beach skirt like a gypsey one that is a dress or skirt, so there's a very stretchy jersey panel where your boobs would go that I've found is great for a expanding belly too. Its red and I bought a 12, although I'm normally an 8, so size guide 2 up from normal I would say and there's plenty of room for expansion.

My holiday is going to be near Looe where there are lots of dog friendly beaches. I've got this week off too! Currently sat on the sofa with the french windows open and the dogs flitting in and out. Its so great to be getting up slowly- dog walking in a bit.

AbfabT- I would write to the NCT head office- they are behaving appallingly and getting a bad press on here to boot- I would tell them that! I'm rather put off by my local NCT where one of the days is a Saturday 10-4- thats a lot of a weekend day taken!

sam12 · 28/06/2010 09:21

Hi all- haven't had chance to write for a while but have been keeping up.

Moonstorm I got a lovely skirt from Dorothy Perkins on Friday- its not maternity but goes over my bump and it is really floaty and is keeping me cool! I'm normally a 10 and this is a 12 and fits perfectly thanks to the stretchy band at the top.

DH felt the baby kick for the first time he was thrilled. We went to the Mamas and Papas outlet store yesterday which had lots of bargains though I only bought a blanket- am too superstitious for my own good.

Seashells I too was watching Glastonbury feeling to the point where I asked my MIL if she will babysit so I can go next year

DillyDora · 28/06/2010 10:27

Morning all,

I agree with Elsa AbFab it's one for NCT head office (who will probably be seriously anamused about what has gone on).

I'm not too bad in the heat, more nervous of it than anything so trying to avoid taking the tube by working from home and trying to take it easy. I'm going to the aqua fitness thing tonight - can't wait! My work colleague is being v cool, I nearly had to go in just to send her some files but when she realised what I was doing she said noooo way, she'd get them another way

I'm also reaching the point where my wardrobe is dwindling - all pre baby trousers have gone now...where will it all end?!

Re Glastonbury - we are soooo going to take Toby when he's a bit older, I am very nostalgic about it though I've only been twice.

Elsa123 · 28/06/2010 10:41

God I know what you mean Dilly- I'm on the last shorts of normal size- they're baggy everywhere apart from my tummy! Dresses still fit,and some skirts if I pull them up so the waistband is dead high! Although in this heat, I think comfort is more important....

DillyDora · 28/06/2010 10:47

LOL yes, we have all been turned into 'high panters' I have to pull all my skirts up to my ribs! But you have reminded me I may have a spare pair of shorts... I shall go and see!

sam12 · 28/06/2010 10:50

I'd bought a maternity dress that fit perfectly two weeks ago and now i can't fit into it

AbFabT · 28/06/2010 10:55

floozie, no, the hotel was booked up (it's only a very small venue, not like a conference centre). Plus the NCT lady thought it was best I was with a new instructor.

Thanks, Elsa and Dilly. I've emailed her back stating I wasn't told about the cats until after I'd paid - she's going to "see what she can do", but if she comes back without the full amount for me, then yes, I'll take it to head office. Don't really need the dramas though. Oh well.

DH was offered a chance to go to Glastonbury this year on a work comp ticket - but it was just the one ticket, so he couldn't take me, and he said it wouldn't have been the same without me. I've never been, would love to go. Maybe when we have our bunch of children, and the VW Campervan!

Hi everyone

I have been melting this weekend - it's been horrible. I'm really not good in the heat so being pregnant doesn't help at all!

I know what you mean about clothes - I'm finding it hard to find suitable cool things for this heat. I'm wearing a dress today that isn't maternity but I got it from H&M LOGG range - they have lots of looser style clothes so I just got the size up and it's empire line so it fits well. Moonstorm I know what you mean about maternity skirts - there are lots of denim ones but not as many floaty cotton ones as I would like. I think I'll have ot venture into town to try some unmaternity ones on in bigger sizes.

I started kitting again this weekend after a few months of not fancying it at all - very odd decision in the heat I know, but I managed to make a set of little bootees (really simple pattern), finish off a jumper and start on another cardigan so I'm very pleased! I got Erika Knight's Simple Knits For Cherished Babies and it has some lovely things in it so will work through that I think.

I'm also taking iron tablets now as I'm a bit anaemic according to my last blood test. Oh and I'm having another scan at 28 weeks for growth - didn't realise I was going to have one but I think it's to do with my underactive thyroid - they do more checks. Is anyone else having a scan then?
(I'm 22+5 today)

Hope you are all ok!

nymphadora · 28/06/2010 11:47

Am just having a rest between sports days. Dd1 this am & dd2 this pm. V hot , drinking water & constantly going to the toilet.

Baby seems low today again pressing on my bladder & kicking my cervix. Lovely

still chasing dh to sort out his paternity leave , hoping union will get back to him today. Hoping to get my forms tomorrow & hand mine in Friday. He has until next Tues to get sorted.

RooBear · 28/06/2010 12:17

Hi everyone, re skirts, I've found getting long floaty type skirts are around. Got one from Dotty P's. not maternity in my usual size and because there is no zips or buttons fits fine!, hope everyone is ok

AbFabT · 28/06/2010 15:44

SeaShells, I've read a few more pages and they vary on when they say the third trimester starts! Some say 26 weeks! It's all a bit unscientific! Hm. I guess if they are saying full term is 40 weeks, third trimester starts at 26+6ish!

IT'S RAINING!

I'm
so happy

moonstorm · 28/06/2010 16:18

Nymphadora

Thanks for teh skirt advice, will have a look. Mothercare had an ideal on ebut in black! Not a good summer colour.

I thought the third trimester was 28 weeks, but I could be wrong. The end is getting closer! Do you find people ask how far along you are and you say 6 months, then you realise that calendarwise there's more than 3 months to go? (Then they say to me but you're ENORMOUS!!)

DillyDora · 28/06/2010 16:48

moonstorm I know what you mean, I am finding all the months v weeks thing most confusing but someone had said to me once that you're actually pregnant for 10 months (9 and a half I think really....) I am very startled to find we're in the 6th month (according to 'What to Expect...') If I think of it like that I feel quite far along!

LOL at nymph in the rain! It's boiling here, especially in our flat, I might have to go to the office tomorrow despite the commute as it really is cooler.
