BackAgain · 06/06/2010 08:55

hello all, love the thread title and perfect as I am 20 weeks tomorrow

We are having a big BBQ next week for the start of the world cup and I wondered if anyone had any drink suggestions that would see me through the night without being too sweet or gassy??

Elsa123 · 06/06/2010 10:53

Morning all- I'm with you mamjo as also worried my about my DH. I think its normal to go through anxiety stages. Did anyone else have thunderstorms last night? We also had a power cut for 3.5 hours, so I missed Britain's got talent too.

Back again- try slimline tonic or make yourself home made lemonade and you can control the amount of sugar and use normal water so its flat. For more bite, you could grate some ginger and squeeze that in too?

ILoveGregoryHouse · 06/06/2010 13:37

BackAgain Yup, homemade lemonade. Mmmmm. Or cranberry with soda - let the soda go a wee bit flat. Lots of ice. There's a lemon and mint thing you get here in the ME. Here's a recipe I googled. Will be trying it myself I think.

Am having a very bad day with back pain. Called midwife and she's tracked down a pelvic support belt for me so i don't have to wait for my mum and dad to get out here on the 25th. The things you go through for a baby ay? It's worth it.

nymphadora · 06/06/2010 15:45

no storms last night but it's pouring now!

mamjo · 06/06/2010 17:44

I have been drinking a lot of tomato juice With Worcester sauce when I am out! I also have been on the cranberry lime and soda. Also the odd tonic with twist of lime can fool me into thinking it's a G&T for half an hour!

nymphadora · 06/06/2010 18:30

cranberry, ginger ale & lime is nice too. Google mocktails for more recipes.

nymphadora · 06/06/2010 18:33

Getting a bit twitchy here as I've not had much in the way of movement today. 2 v quick bubble but nothing else & usually have loads on and off all day. Hoping baby wakes later when I'm lying down.
Scan on Weds think its making me anxious

SamanthaB123 · 06/06/2010 18:56

Evening

Nymph I have on and off days with movement and when I spoke to my midwife she said it was completly normal at this stage. I also read that you should only track movements after week 28. Yesterday I didn't feel much all day, but today the baby was wide awake at 6am. Finally gave DH a good kick too! Try not to worry, I think when I have been most tense the baby stops moving altogether. Sometimes having a bath seems to prompt my baby to move around, so maybe try a soak later?

BackAgain I've been drinking lots of different things with sparkling water and ice recently. I really like the feel of it in my mouth which after all the nausea has been a blessing. I like elderflower cordial in particular, but the bottle green people also do other lovely flavours too.

So, back to school tomorrow , I haven't really done all of the work that I should, what with the heat and the general distraction with the baby. I'll have a busy term with a bit of catching up to do at the start! It's all ok though because I am having my 20 week scan tomorrow at 10am! Yeah, I can't wait . I am just the most excited person in the world I think, I just want to see my little baby and know that s/he is safe and sound.

Hope everyone is well and hasn't been drowned today! SB

nymphadora · 06/06/2010 19:01

sam thats what the logic bit of me says! Nearly every day baby is active at 9:30 am which is intersting, must be wake up time after the school run , although it carried on this week!
I know all about school work, have only seen dh when he had to take me to the hospital, he has spent as much time as poss at school. Been there all day came home for an hour & has gone back now. Big LA stuff tomorrow so he's a bit stressed.
Enjoy the scan!

SamanthaB123 · 06/06/2010 19:20

Nymph In these moments it's really easy to get carried away with worry. Your baby's routine will alter during the next few months so if there isn't a pattern that's ok. There's loads of room in there still so it could just have turned around and be facing your back where you wouldn't feel so much at all. I have been worried about movements on and off for about five weeks now and have read a lot. If you move around the combination of the water filled bubble and the swaying of your hips is supposed to rock the baby to sleep. As you are feeling better perhaps you are moving about a bit more? That might just mean that you are sending the baby to sleep! School is always stressful...I'm trying to separate myself from it a bit now as I'm not going to be there very much next year at all. I don't know yet if I'm going to go back at all. We are thinking of moving house and may move area altogether.

nymphadora · 06/06/2010 19:27

sam I don't move much! Although we did go out for lunch today and I realise that the 5 miles to the cafe was the furthest I'd been without dh for a month I'm thinking of changing jobs after mat leave too although its a bit of a constant as I haven't been happy since I left my job 2 years ago. There is no opportunities to do the same work so I'm sort of looking at second best all the time I'm thinking of going back to schools as at least I'm off the same time as everyone else. I don't have to work to live(just treats) so am in a position I've never had before and its quite nice

mamjo · 06/06/2010 19:52

Hi Sam I have my scan in the morning too. Mines at 9 and I simply can't wait to see baby again. Good luck with everything.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 06/06/2010 19:53

There must be something in the air! Just said to dh that I was getting concerned as hadn't felt anything much for a couple of days. Got ds to bed, lay down on sofa and she is having a party in there!! So relieved, I must learn to relax.

So have you all got rain? We have the most gorgeous sunny evening, you should be on the south coast!!

Tmi alert, but I am soooooooo fed up. The combination of piles from ds's pg and birth (back with avengence from the first bfp) and constipation are driving me mad!!!! God your dignity just disappears

Sorry about sharing! Not really a suitable fb status update so you lot get the rant

Hermya321 · 06/06/2010 20:10

How the hell can I be twenty weeks pregnant and getting nausea?!?!?!?!

What the flipping heck?

That combined with round ligament pain means that I feel so so rough at the moment.

floozietoozie · 06/06/2010 20:15

Seashells - but think what great amusement/bewilderment your FB readers would have! Poor you. I managed to avoid them last time round and I'm hoping for the same now.

Sam and Mamjo - happy scans tomorrow.

Loving these drink suggestions. Now I want some cranberry juice in the house to try some out.

nymphadora · 06/06/2010 20:33

Hermya I'm still getting nausea. Although I let dds watch Horrible histories this morning and I didnt throw up.

I'm getting a lot of heart burn/indigestion and eating lots of tums!

mamjo enjoy the scan. Were you finding out? I forget who said what

BionicEar · 06/06/2010 20:34

Hello!

Hope you're all doing ok. Just been to Legoland for a couple of days - was great. DD loved it as did DH!

Hermya - hope the morning sickness eased of asap.

I'm doing pretty well at mo but seem to be waking most nights desprete for a wee and a drink! Then baby tend to have a bounce about so can be some time if I'm lucky before I fall asleep again. Still I am making it through the day without feeling the need to sleep all the time so that's something!

Will be 20weeks on Thurs - can't believe I'm almost half way through - seems to have gone by really quickly.

Right well I need to go and fish DD outta bath as she's probably very wrinkly now!

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 06/06/2010 21:21

Floozie, can you imagine the combo seems to 'be my thing' gaaaah

hermya, you poor thing, I hope it passes soon!

Hope the scans go well tomorrow

Xavielli · 06/06/2010 21:37

SeaShells, I can empathise. Mine went away about 3 months after I had DD but as soon as I hit 8 weeks 'it' was back. And I can still only 'go' once a week.

I mustn't grumble however, NO sickness with any of them, no stitches and my longest labour so far is 4 hours. Something has to give and if it's a pile or two and being a little backed up that's a price I'm willing to pay

Week and two days til my scan and I am just rediculously excited already!

AbFabT · 06/06/2010 21:47

I welcome the rain - it's baking hot here. DH was looking into air conditioners yesterday for his poor pregnant wife who was feeling sweaty and hot. Had a great downpour last night, I sat in my glider nursing chair with my feet out the window!

Spent today with a friend who has a two-week old baby! Was lovely, she fell asleep in my arms and I soothed her from crying several times (the baby, that is)! Maybe I can manage this mother lark! Still felt a bit queasy about the nappy though!

My own baby has been going wild today! It was amazing! After seeing my tummy move once yesterday, this morning in the bath it was positively rippling wave after wave, it was soooo good. Sadly DH had already left the house, so he missed it, but I think baby has finally decided to be a bit more active, so hopefully daddy can share in this treat soon!

Home now, DH is still out at the RAGE gig, hope it's not raining on him.

Good luck to the scannees tomorrow! If you find out the gender, don't forget to add yourselves to the stats list!

Hehe, you and your stats AbFab! I'm so glad you're getting big movements from baby, it's such a weight off!

I had a cuddle with my nephew this morning who is nearly 7 months, I enjoyed giving him back when he cried!

floozietoozie · 06/06/2010 22:49

BionicEar you're a day ahead of me. I will be celebrating 20 weeks on Friday by going on my first ever weekend away from DS, in fact my first ever night away from him. I've never left him before so this is going to be quite strange and I really hope he's going to be ok, but I'm off for a reunion with friends in Dublin for three nights! He'll be in bed when I leave on Friday though and in creche all day on Monday so it's only really Sat and Sun I'll not be around for. Still nervous about how we'll both react! But time is running down on being able to do this kind of thing before the next one pops along. It's only four months till the due date month after all. The frightening thing is if I go the same as I did with DS, it's only 12 weeks on Tuesday. Eek.

If any of you have any experience of Dysons, I'm wondering about the original one here.

Night night all.

Tyson86 · 06/06/2010 23:25

Hello all, im 22 weeks now

Having MIL issues atm that is getting me down, she tried to arrange a 2nd birthday party for my ds without even asking me or dh. Its ds birthday wednesday and we have something private arranged that he will love.

lilmissmummy · 07/06/2010 00:16

Love the new thread title and all this space.

I welcomed the rain today too as was getting very hot and flustered. Bionic v impressed that you managed to walk round legoland! I have problems walking round Tesco!

Quick moan from me - I have been diagnosed with SPD (sore hips and pelvis) and it has been absolutely horrendous this weekend!

Although I have had my 28 week pregnant best friend here so we have waddled and complained together!

Very jealous of those with leaky boobs! I am hoping that mine start soon.

Tyson poor you, putting up with pain in the neck relatives are bad enough when you are not pregnant! I am lucky my MIL is a dream... my mother however!

Would love a dyson floozie have only heard great things about them!

Good luck with the scans tomorrow! I am excited for you - is anyone going to find out the flavour?

Isnt pregnancy wonderful though... walking like John Wayne, piles, leaky boobs, nausea, memory loss and constipation! soooo worth it though!

Half way there yippee!!!!!!!!!

Xavielli · 07/06/2010 07:57

Flooz, I have a DC07 which I think is the same but just a little smaller - It's still stupidly heavy, really noisy and you have to unclog and clean it after every use otherwise it DOES lose suction!
