We are heading for a hosepipe ban so really are desperate!

Haven't seen hermya for a bit hope she's ok, she is usually here most days.

Someone said to me the other day, nearly there? And was when I said just another 3 months.

Thread on pg about today's incident with the car. Steering wheels & bumps!

ILoveGregoryHouse · 28/06/2010 17:05

moonstorm I bought the mothercare skirt in black. It's a lovely fine jersey and very cool in the heat.

Everything ticking along fine here. Looking forward to getting back to lovely cool UK in a couple of weeks - even if it is still 26 degrees but I'll be hoping for rain too.

I'll be off to Waitrose to buy some decent food as soon as we get home. Shame there isn't one at the airport.

Pregnancy from conception is 38 weeks - so 266 days. What joy. I've got 122 days to go.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 28/06/2010 18:27

You see, I get so confused. 40 weeks = 10mths if divide by 4, but it's 9 months. If 12 weeks is the end of the first trimester, that suggests 36weeks gestation...I have NO idea how many months I am.

So hot. But gorgeous! Nearly passed out at work though. Stupidly got a cup of tea when I got there and promptly over heated. Not good! Hope you enjoyed all your sports days nymph- v hot for it!

So it sounds like a meet up in the kidszone at Glastonbury or camp bestival in a year or 2 would be good!!! I'm so desperate to start going again. We have camp bestival, Glastonbury and larmar tree within reac, so dh and I arealready day dreaming!

SilverSky · 28/06/2010 19:39

Hi all. It's still hot hot hot!

I have found it tough going this weekend and today at work. Really felt heavily pregnant despite only being 24 wks today. Bump aches and everything is an effort. Pray tell I am not the only one? Fellow mums to be inform me it's normal.

I could actually go to bed right now. I really could. Priorities first - food!

My wardrobe is diminishing fast as is my figure. Can see I am going to have to get creative.

Hope everyone is doing well !!!

Tyson86 · 28/06/2010 19:51

Silversky it seems normal for me, i have been so dizzy with the heat, sleepy and hot. Not helping with builders making me get up at 6.45am. I have not got any summer clothes that fit so have been sweltering in thick brown trousers all day.

On a high, Sophie is getting so active and im starting to get excited about having my little girl. It seems to be sinking in that this is real!

Elsa123 · 28/06/2010 20:59

I was thinking about Hermya this morning too Nymph- I do hope she's ok- the SPD has been awful for her.

Today I bought some new Clarins perfume, knickers, a hotmilk bra and another one that is padded with great fit, a pair of short from M&P for £12, 2 vests, a dress, a pair of linen trousers that need to be taken up slightly and a pair of snakeskin (not real) sandals. So I think (hope) that thats me sorted.

Elsa123 · 28/06/2010 21:21

Not that I'm stalking them or anything, but I found Hermya and ILGH on the SPD sofa- so they're around, but in pain.

floozietoozie · 28/06/2010 21:43

Hello all

It's clouded over and is cooling down here this evening. It was supposed to rain but must have bypassed us. My bad stomach is still in evidence, and I had the runs earlier - nice. Hope you're not having a late supper when you read this . I've also had persistent, I suppose it's heartburn, today, that feeling of stuff rising up your gullet all the time. Yuk. I don't know if it's the bad tummy or just pregnancy, as I never got it with DS. So as a result of my bad tummy, I went for very plain food this evening - chips to be precise, and I've just had two chocolate biscuits. Whoops. What a diet. I did have some yoghurt too.

I'd like another skirt too. I've got a denim mat one, and I've been managing to wear two non-mat skirts which normally would sit lowish, but have been pulled up over the bump. I think though that one of them has probably had its last outing today. Actually, I'd like a few dresses, need more tops - think I need to go shopping.

Tomorrow it's four months to my due date, so by the calendar I'm just over five months (as of 22nd from date of LMP), and by weeks I'm 22+3. Piesey, I'm having a 28 week scan too because of prem birth last time and now to keep an eye on the cyst as well. Then, 32 and 36 weeks.

The trimesters are not divided up evenly in case that was confusing anyone. The second is the longest, and the third starts at 28 weeks according to all the things I've read. It's funny being just about the last one on here apart from Xav and ILGH, because some of you write about things happening and then weeks later I get it too. I'm hoping it remains that way to the end.

BionicEar · 28/06/2010 21:52

Hot here too especially at work where we cannot open windows due to building work so have made work give me a big fan to sit by my desk and growl at anyone who tries to nick it!

However we had some rain today - yay so that should help to cool things down a bit.

Still having problems with cramp as has another attack in other leg. Find it hurts to stand for too long or have feet on floor so try to put feet up as much as I can. And if I stay in one position too long my legs seize up and I walk with a limp - oh well the joys of pregnancy!

Have confirmed to my boss today when I plan to start and end my maternity leave. So it all seems more real now.

Funny moment today occurred when I was lying on the bed, one of our 2 cats decided to come and sit on the bump and purr madly at baby. Baby went mad kicking her manically up the backside - you could see and feel bump going, and cat was being stubborn refused to shift for ages! Was very funny! My other cat won't even sit on the bump, just on my legs!

Hermya321 · 28/06/2010 22:33

Hello,

Sorry haven't been around as much of late, I was away this weekend and been really busy at work as well.

SPD has been okish, twas a bit amusing thought this weekend when my friend suggested a 'couple of minutes walk through a field' to go have lunch at a Garden centre. Turns out her definition of a singular field and mine are vastly different. It was when she started clambouring over fences into a a vast length of land and her saying 'it's around here somewhere, but if we get lost it'll be ok'. Err no, I asked to be taken back to the car. Turns out said centre was a ten minute drive away and across a busy dual carriage way.

Also has anyone tried that Haymax stuff, I get terrible hayfever and was wondering if it would help or should I just go and get some stuff from the Docs?

Nymph That Bra shop you mentioned, they do fit you don't they? We needed the rain today didn't we, also have you tried going further afield to the Trafford centre with your voucher? Or selling it on ebay for cash? I've seen people do that before.

Elsa Thought of you today, I think I was in your neck of the woods. Have you managed to get sorted re your hospitals? (this was you wasn't it?)

Has anyone else counted the weeks to go in their diarys? I have 17 weeks to go, that doesn't seem very long at all.

Elsa123 · 29/06/2010 07:52

Hi Hermya- after a very disappointing visit to the JR in Oxford where (because the doc didn't look at me) they thought I was 35 weeks pg (I do not look 35 weeks)They have booked me a growth scan at 36 weeks- so I am assuming I can go there, but midwife care is still missing and the hospital won't see me for antenatal appts unless I'm a problem case. However, the outpatients midwife matron is meant to be calling me this week to arrange antenatal care following a call from the clinical mw specialist last week apologising for the poor care- so we'll see!

Got bitten in the night by mozzies arghhh.

Yes I have the weeks in my calendar.....scary. Its like a countdown to the biggest change in my life....

ILoveGregoryHouse · 29/06/2010 08:02

Hermya, I had that Haymax when pg with DS3. It was a wee bit rubbish tbh, you'd be better off using vaseline up your nose.

I'm off to buy a school uniform for DS3 today. My baby - off to kindergarten. It's such a cute uniform - red gingham shorts, and white polo top or red t-shirt and a red tracksuit for winter. I'll take a photo when I've got it on him.

nymphadora · 29/06/2010 08:10

hermya I'm down to last £30 for Debs now so should be able to get rid at some point. The bra shop near me does fit. She is v good & wont push too much on you but makes you try them all on until you want them all! Just £30 each makes that difficult. She had loads of hot milk ones in though.

RooBear · 29/06/2010 08:27

morning all, if anyone needs more stuff but is counting the pennies, check out matlns mt section, got a pair of denim shorts and a lovely dress for £16 and £14! seashells the way I work the weeks/months out is 4wks is 28 days so you add two days per month onto the weeks, so if you are 26 wks you are 6 months (24wks + 2days * 6 =12 nearly 2 weeks)hope that makes sense!

piesey · 29/06/2010 09:59

Ooo Roobear is the dress from Matalan white with lots of flowers on it and straps? If so I think I have the same one - it's lovely! I can't wear it for work though as it shows off my chest a bit too much...ahem! It'll be fine for out of work though. They didn't have much else in when I went but I might venture up again and see what else they have.

So glad it's been raining today - everyone in work thinks I'm a spoilsport but it's so much better now it's cooler.

Glad I'm not the only one having a scat at 28 weeks floozie - I think I may also be having ones at 32 and 36 weeks too depending on how it all goes. It will be nice to see the baby though!

Hermya - I have 17 weeks to go too from tomorrow! It doesn't sound that long really....so glad we are all over halfway.

shieldbug · 29/06/2010 10:02

Roo That's a good way of looking at it. I'm 24 + 3 and knew it was a bit early to be 6 months but wasn't quite sure when to call it!

Silver I know what you mean about feeling really heavily pg. I ache a lot too, and energy levels are very variable.

People have given up commenting on how big I am (thank goodness) but I think they are watching with a kind of fascinated horror as to how enormous I am going to end up! I am currently about the size you would expect as you approach 8 months!

nymph I remember you saying about the baby bouncing on and kicking some of your vulnerable bits and I laughed, until I experienced it myself...ouch!!

hermya good to hear from you again. I've not really tried the Haymax stuff, but my sil had some and I think it's just repackaged vaseline. I've got blisters on the inside of my nose and I don't know if that is a result of excessive shoving of vaseline up my nostrils or a hayfever reaction. I held off the vaseline for a while and it has improved a bit.

Bionic lol at your cat and bump interacting like that! Maybe the baby could hear the purring. Sproglet kicks when (s)he hears dh's voice close to the bump.

shieldbug · 29/06/2010 10:08

Despite my long previous post, forgot some things!

floozie hope you are feeling better soon.

I have a consultant's appt tomorrow, and will probably have another scan. At the moment, I'm having appts every 4 weeks to keep an eye on the fibroid situation. I'm really looking forward to seeing how much sproglet has grown in 4 weeks. I reckon it will give some good kicks for the scan too. I'm really hoping i get my Mat forms and details of antenatal classes then too as I've heard squat squared so far. Just a thought - presumably we can apply for the HIP money soon?

RooBear · 29/06/2010 12:15

thats the one piesey but I have worn it to worn despite my curves I shouldn't really working on a army base but it raises morale!

nymphadora · 29/06/2010 12:54

Have spent the morning at my 5 min appt consultant not there & registrar didn't impress me! He asked how my meds were going ( obviously didn't read the file) suggested I went back on them as my BP is rising I explained why not (& consultant wouldn't let me) and MW backed me. He suggested other meds which were contraindicated & MW kept correcting him.

Then did heatbeat with ' there you are babys fine' to which I replied 'I know due to the movements'

Got my MATB1 but HIP has to be after 25 weeks so will get that at next appt

he also refused to sign me as well for work as'GPs job'

sam12 · 29/06/2010 13:35

That sounds like a rubbish appointment nymph sometimes I don't know how these people get jobs!

Shield the mw told me she would fill in the stuff for the HIP money at my 25 weeks checkup- which is tomorrow.

Has anybody got any recommendations for good books about childbirth? I am a bit of a medical phobe so don't want one that is like a medical journal but then want one that is quite realistic at the same time. If that makes sense.
Thanks xx

DillyDora · 29/06/2010 14:46

sam I have been reading Dr Miriam Stoppard's book on Pregnancy and Birth (I have an ancient edition from the library!) and it's lovely, tells you all about the processes without being scary. I'm also finding antenatal yoga and aqua fitness is helping as the teachers have loads of gems of info that they give you in teeny bite size chunks so that helps.

AbFabT · 29/06/2010 14:56

Aw nymph, you don't have a good time with medical appointments, do you. :-/

I am counting myself at six months when I get to July 4th, as that will be three months until my EDD.

OP posts:
DillyDora · 29/06/2010 14:57

According to What to Expect I am just in my 6th month at 24 weeks (or something...)

Hermya321 · 29/06/2010 15:17

dilly yeah mine says that as well.

nymph gosh you don't get any luck do you. When are you back at work?

Elsa123 · 29/06/2010 15:22

That sounds rubbish nymph- nice of the NHS to waste money making you go twice to 2 different people for one signature!

Just returned from having my hair done and I bought a tonne of beauty products as well that should last me a fair while.

I did have a most disappointing bikini wax this morning though- really not thorough and she's left bits of wax on...nice.
