Grass hasnt come yet so I didnt make aquanatal. Feeling quite dodgy at the moment. Its not even hot now either. Am exhausted and v nausious. Hoping grass comes soon & I'll phone Drs about getting my BP taken. Baby doesn't seem to have stopped since I got up and I first woke at 5 and they were moving then too.Think they have my energy

elsa you NEED REST!!!!!!!!!!! Do nothing essential.

shieldbug · 24/06/2010 11:47

elsa Even though it's not very hot here in NI (is it ever?) I've been hit with exhaustion again too. I thought we were only meant to get so tired again towards the end, but as so many of us are feeling this way, it must just be the next stage in pg. I feel so guilty that DH has to do so much housework at the moment, but I am really not up to much. Like you nymph I think all the baby movement is taking my energy. Sproglet was really beating me up last night with some heavy duty kicking!

Elsa123 · 24/06/2010 12:26

Its just irritating to be told in all the books that you have more energy in the 2nd trimester and I've had naff all. Only the occasional spurt. It all just feels like a relentless grind at the moment. I think you're right, it is affecting all of us- look how much the thread has slowed down!

I know that out lives will be incredibly busy in 14-20 weeks time, but have you noticed that there are no postnatal threads with the same groups of people- unless I have missed something?

shieldbug · 24/06/2010 12:38

I really do hope that we all manage to stay in touch after our babies are born- I reckon we shall need support then just as much as now. I know I'm already feeling utterly unprepared to be a Mum, even though this was planned and longed for.

AbFabT · 24/06/2010 12:49

Elsa, I hope they suggest it! I don't want to look like a slacking skiver! (Though I've reminded them a few times that until this all started, I hadn't had even one day off of sick leave in nine years, so I hope that counts for something!).

shieldbug, we will! We'll have a '10/10 - the afterparty' thread, and keep in touch (even if some of us land in September or November!) I also feel unprepared, like you, despite wanting this for so so long. But I am assured instinct will kick in, and we'll all manage fine. My concern is not doing the absolute BEST for my children, so I want to do as much reading as possible, and give them a head start. Stuff like teach your baby to sign - things like that! And baby Yoga, baby massage, baby swim, etc etc!!!!!

I am off to AnteNatal Yoga this evening, first class. Looking forward to it.

Blazes, it's hot today!

The postnatal section has groups, is that what you mean?

Elsa123 · 24/06/2010 13:34

Dur- sorry nymph and everyone else, I totally missed the fact that if you click on the being a parent bit there was all those sub topics. I am such a div. [embarrassed]

AbFabT · 24/06/2010 14:09

Easily done, Elsa - this site is huge!

Annoyingly, I've just been informed my Jury Service that was meant to start next week has been cancelled. That was me blocked out for two weeks, which nice and conveniently prolonged the agony of the work situation. Just told HR, but my manager is away next week so we can't do the meeting until the week after, so that's one week respite at least, but I will be in the following week for the meeting. Oh well. Still hoping they see fit to suggest we call it quits and I can stay off!

BionicEar · 24/06/2010 14:29

Hello ladies!

Sorry to hear a few off you been having rough times with health/hospitals and work - Dilly I think all those peeps who are causing the probs need smacked legs but not the little bubbas otherwise they'll sulk and refuse to come out when it's time!

I saw MW yesterday - felt she kinda rush through my appointment, and didn't get to ask all I wanted to. Oh well got next app in about 3 weeks. Heard baby heartbeat which was fab - thumping away merrily! Have low blood pressure which could explain the lightheaded moments I've been getting.

Woke up yesterday with cramp in my left leg and it was hurting all day. Woke up in night to go for a wee and practically had to drag that leg along as couldn't move it. This morning hobbled to school to drop DD off and was told by nurse friend to contact my MW and get it checked out as it shouldn't be that bad. So rang MW who promptly told me to arrange app to see GP, so will be going late this arrvo with DD in tow. Just hope GP won't think I'm being a hypocontric (can't spell sorry!) and it is just a pulled muscle or something like that.

It's not too bad when I have it up - just when I try to walk on it or stand that it hurts.

Anyway will keep you posted. Hope you all have a good day and now I need to go for a wee - seem to want to go every 5 mins at the mo!

shieldbug · 24/06/2010 15:45

Just had some good news. I am entitled to 4 months maternity funding from DEL (they fund my PhD) even though I was supposed to finish at the end of September. Provided that I leave before the end of September I am ok. Unfortunately I then get all my library rights suspended (including access to interlibrary loans, which are my lifeline for getting obscure crustacean references!), so I will have to work super hard to get all that stuff finished before I go. Sproglet doesn't like the sound of hard work and is kicking hard at the thought, but I'll just have to grin and bear it.

shieldbug · 24/06/2010 15:47

Bionic Hope the drs appt is ok. I'm sure they won't thiunk you are making a fuss. It's important to get anything unusual checked. If it is just a pulled muscle, that's great.

nymphadora · 24/06/2010 19:49

bionic hope Dr went ok

shieldbug not sure if you've told us before but whats your PHD in? Intruiged by the obscure crustacean comment

BionicEar · 24/06/2010 21:41

Hello!

Saw GP he says it sounds like I had severe cramp attack and that may have torn some of the nerves or something in the muscle ligament and will take a few days to recover from.

He did think it was odd my MW told me to see him, but hey better safe than sorry I suppose.

Guess I won't be dancing at DD school ceilidh tomorrow - will give me more opportunity to scoff the food on offer though!

Went to DD 1st Sports Day today - all went well and the weather stayed nice as it was looking a wee bit dodgy 1st thing. DD seemed to have enjoyed her 1st Sports Day too and was very proud of herself for managing to do all the games set. All non competitive though - team games - so no tears from the losers!

Friend dropped round some bags of boy baby clothes earlier which was nice and my mother sent me a parcel full of new boy baby clothes - must have been on a spending spree in M&S!

Do have a question to ask you ladies - are any of you thirsty all the time? I feel like I need to drink lots of water all the time which obviously has the result of needing to go to the loo a lot! Can't remember if it is a normal thing in pg or not to be thirsty all the time.

floozietoozie · 25/06/2010 00:02

Bionicear I'm thirsty constantly - I had to get up in the night (as well as to pee) to drink about three cups of water because my mouth was dry. Hope your leg gets better soon. I've found with pg cramp it takes a whole day or a bit more to disappear, but that does sound extreme. no dancing indeed - let there be cake instead .

Nymph a question for you. You recently bought some Hot Milk bras, didn't you? Did you go to a shop for them - if so, if it wasn't an independent in your area, where did you get them from. I'm looking at them online, but I can never seem to find the right size, or at least, I'd like to know if there are more options out there.

Elsa and Shieldbug - last time around, my last MN antenatal thread gradually moved across to a postnatal one as the babies were born. It was an absolute godsend for me with DS coming so early, because I didn't know anyone in RL who'd had a baby, and because he was in hospital it took me about three/four months before I started meeting people, other than one or two I was in hospital with. I would have been very lonely without my MNetters then. They were brilliant support. By chance, one of them had my address as she'd sent me a birthing video, so she sent a card on behalf of all the group, signed with all their usernames, which was lovely. The threads carried on for a few years, with the last posts just the start of this year I think. Many of us are now Facebook friends - in some ways that's what killed off the PN thread. There were quite a few RL meet-ups among those who lived near each other with the babies/toddlers.

I got my cyst results back this morning. It's fine, phew. Actually, it was a blessing in disguise, because I've been seen by a different consultant who is extremely on the ball, and I've been transferred to her care, which I'm very happy about. As well as being extremely knowledgeable about endometrial cysts and the likely prognosis (unlikely to grow more, but almost certainly need to have it removed post-birth as it's not going to go away), she talked about all aspects of prematurity and swabbed me to check if I had bacterial vaginosis, which can be a trigger for prem labour . No-one else had suggested doing that. If I do have it, I'll have ABs, and whatever the result I'll get swabbed again as the pregnancy progresses. She's really nice too, and treats you like someone with a brain - she asked me if I was from a medical background, which I was dead chuffed about (I'm not, but I only changed my mind about doing medicine at the last minute and have always been fascinated by the body and its systems). So I must have sounded as though I knew what I was talking about a bit!

Long post! Bedtime now. Hello everyone else.

nymphadora · 25/06/2010 08:45

floozie sorry it was an independant shop. I'm the same size in it as my other bras so if u get measured properly it may be worth a risk online?

Am v tired not slept v well don't think baby has slept much either. Lively all yesterday apart from school run & everytime I wake they ate awake. Can't see how dh doesn't feel it now I can see it! Haven't managed to get dds to stay in one place long enough to see if they can.

Elsa123 · 25/06/2010 10:34

morning all.

Floozie, I got a Hotmilk bra from mummyandlittleme which is also online. However, although the same brand, I found that some bras were vastly different in sizing than others, so its worth finding a shop or buying several and ensuring you can send them back.

I hope your leg is feeling better Bionic- I had a really bad leg cramp last night so can sympathise with how it seesm to drag on- but not as bad as yours was.

I hust my back yesterday to the point where I couldn't lift my leg- its better today- not 100%.

I am absolutely fed up with work and am very pleased that I have less than 3 months to go as some people are just too rude for words- I shall be working somewhere else when I get back.

tiredfeet · 25/06/2010 11:09

happy friday everyone, nearly the weekend!

DH has gone off to glastonbury so I am going to enjoy a chilled girly weekend with his sister. I am kind of relieved he has gone as he is in a barbequeing phase and we've had friends/ family round 4 times in the past week. I think the baby was at risk of being 100% burger (and we were at risk of seriously annoying our neighbours!). I'm planning to eat a lot of salad and veggie food while he is away.

bionic yes I'm thirsty all the time too, I have a drink by me the whole time and also wake up in the night usually once or twice needing a drink

floozie I'm so pleased your cyst results came back fine.

elsa I am fed up with rude people at work too. At least there's not too long to go now. Its worst if I'm feeling a bit hormonal and sensitive too. I was helping set up for a book launch at work yesterday, which isn't strictly in my job description but they were short staffed. The author arrived with 5 minutes to go and came up to me and was very rude and abrupt, then asked me where the launch would be. When I explained it would be in the room we were standing he got very cross and said to me (in a tone that implied it was my fault) 'but there aren't any people? I really had to bite my tongue very hard to not say "well that's because your book sounds really boring"

shieldbug · 26/06/2010 10:42

tiredfeet at the book launch. Hope you have a good weekend with lots of resting and taking it easy.

floozie sounds like you are going to get better care now. What good news.

nymph I'm looking at female reproduction in an invasive crustacean. What sort of things decrease reproduction mostly. It's very interesting, but I'm just wanting to finish it now so that I can focus on sproglet.

After taking so long to make its presence felt, sproglet is making up for lost time now and beating me up on a daily basis. (s)he seems to know exactly the wrong places to kick!

happy weekend to everybody!

Vikks · 26/06/2010 14:42

Hi Everyone. Hope you?re all enjoying your weekends and the sun!

Shieldbug Glad to hear you?ve got movement. I know what you mean about kicks in the wrong places, Harry is so strong he really makes me jump sometimes.

Tiredfeet Enjoy your salad! I think I should join you, I?m just eating whatever I want at the mo.

Bionic & Elsa cramp here too. I?m getting them nearly nightly, always in my legs and feet. I end up waking DH every time rolling around the bed in pain but he?s great at helping me stretch it out?.bless.

Well I?m off for a wedding reception tonight, time to get out my Maxi dress. I hope it still fits, I think I?ve grown a lot over the last few weeks. Someone asked me if I was having twins yesterday!
I?ve got my 25 week MW appointment on Thursday, (I can?t believe how fast the weeks are flying by now) so I should get all my forms. My M&D are coming to visit me from Yorkshire next week for 10 days (hopefully lots of pampering coming my way). My birthday is on Saturday so it?ll be great to see them and they are helping us get ready for H as we are pulling apart the living room. We need all the help we can get!
Take care V&H x x

nymphadora · 26/06/2010 15:33

shieldbug environmental impact type stuff? What will you do when it's finished?

Too hot at the moment. Swimming costume & paddling pool while dh BBQs. Kids at their Dads so i have the pool to myself!

SilverSky · 26/06/2010 17:50

Hi y'all,

after a busy day and stress I am sat on my butt post shower and I ain't moving. Not til later anyway.

I have also had mega cramp in the night.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 26/06/2010 18:42

It's hot hot hot!!! Been to the beach twice today with ds desperately paddling to cool down
Anyone else rendered exhausted and immobile by the heat?! I have spent many hours watching tennis and football from the sofa today, with dh and ds running around me! The 2nd afternoon nap/ collapse is back.

When does the third trimester start?

floozietoozie · 26/06/2010 19:09

Hello all, what beautiful weather. We've (me and ds) been in the park all afternoon having a pincic with a group of friends. Dp was painting skirting boards- his choice. I'm currently sat at our outdoor table which we moved onto the lawn to get out of the sun, finishing dinner.

Shieldbug and Vikks, enjoy the kicking. Hope your dress still fits Vikks.

Found out a few days ago that dp's niece (25) is pregnant too, baby due in December. So the family on his side is expanding quite a bit. We're not near them or particularly close really but it's still nice.

Tyson86 · 26/06/2010 20:19

Have fun tonight vikks

It is too hot! Been to Irchester country park and an outdoor water park with ds which has been great. Im 25+1 weeks today and feeling quite well except for my back which is copable with.

AbFabT · 26/06/2010 20:25

SeaShells, my pregnology guide says the third trimester starts at 28 weeks.
