piesey Glad scan went well.

Shieldbug Sorry to hear you went so dizzy, i keep going like that, its horrible.

Thank you for the good luck wishes, it must of worked! Im allowed my home birth, the main consultant has took the pychosis thing off my notes as he doesnt believe i had that at all he said the hospital were talking bollocks! His words not mine
The reason for the app was to see if the consultant thought i needed a person keeping an eye on my baby etc cant remember the wording so 2 years of being a good mum didnt account for nothing but he has said i dont need that or anything else cos i never had pychosis in the first place. Im so happy and relieved as my fear of getting it again has gone as i never had it. Not making much sense now lol.

sam12 · 16/06/2010 15:48

Tyson that is great news and is totally right- enjoy your home birth!!

I have just booked our antenatal classes- they couldn't get us in till mid-September so lets hope baby doesn't come early or I won't know what to do

Elsa123 · 16/06/2010 16:15

Well done Tyson!

thanks for reminding me about antenatal classes Sam12!!!

I'm so hacked off with work right now- its all getting rather stressful and things are getting to me that normally wouldn't. so I've cheered myself up by working out that I can go on leave on 10 Sep for a month, maternity leave can start on 10 Oct then I get 26 weeks on full pay, the next 13 weeks on 90% pay and the remaining 13 weeks no pay, but I'll save up for that time.

shieldbug · 16/06/2010 16:21

Tyson brilliant news. That must be such a relief, especially as you were treated so badly before. Sounds like the new consultant has his head screwed on right and used his common sense. Hope everything else works out for a home birth.

Elsa Sorry to hear work is hard at the mo.

Lizkin · 16/06/2010 16:31

Thanks Nymph, yes I'm sure it will all work out all right, she'll just have to get used to having a slightly unusual mum - but then, who doesn't?!

I've recovered my balance now I think and just reckon, as long as she knows she's loved it doesn't make a blind bit of difference that I don't notice fashion/haircuts, can't remember people's birthdays, am useless at arts and crafts but am pretty cool at playing the drums... I just hope she can be more confident and sure of herself when she's a teenager than I was.

Shieldbug how's your blood sugar levels?

Congrats on the good scan Piesey, I had exactly the same thing with the low anterior placenta, they didn't seem worried, I'm just booked in for a second scan at 30 weeks to check. I'm actually quite pleased as DH should be able to make it to this one which is nice for him.

Mamjo don't watch crimewatch, I feel is the answer. There's a lot more nice people in the world than you would believe from just watching the news. DH complains when he watches the BBC news, he says it's all tragedy and scaremongering (he's Dutch).

mamjo · 16/06/2010 16:36

Brilliant news tyson you must be sooo happy!!

Shieldbug just take it easy tonight, sounds like you need a bit of rest!!!

Elsa what a fabulous maternity package you have!!! lucky you. I made the mistake of leaving the company I used to work for who gave 6 months full and then statutory for 13 weeks and then nothing for 13 weeks, because after 6 years of trying to concieve but with no luck I decided that it wasn't gonna happen so I might aswell get a job I enjoyed!! only to come to a company that only gives statutory, and concieve almost immediately!!!! so we are a bit beggered from the beginning - but I am still taking the year!!!! and it was probably the leaving the stressful job that got me pregnant so can't complain too much cos I know which I'd rather have

Nymph how's the hair?

piesey · 16/06/2010 16:47

Good news tyson - glad it all went well!

I havent' booked antenatal classes either....I'd better get a move on!

Ivytheterrible · 16/06/2010 16:57

Well done tyson I'm going for a home birth as well - my MIL was horrified which was most satisfying...

Elsa very jealous of your maternity package - I'm on Stat as well (perils of working for a small business) mamjo and so only taking 6 months off fully and then going back 3 or 4 days a week for 6 months - just can't afford to do any longer as we moved to a bigger house last year. I think i may look around for another job with better benefits if we decide to have a second in a few years!

Elsa123 · 16/06/2010 17:23

Don't be too jealous- there's offsets like my work requires me to sometimes be away from the UK for 6 months at a time. I killed a thread in parenting the other day because someone said she didn't know how she'd cope with leaving her DD for 2 weeks and how would her DD cope- so I said how the children of the women I work with who have to go away for long periods cope. End of thread.....!

You may wonder why I stay- full pension in 6 years time and the money's pretty good. x x

mamjo · 16/06/2010 18:18

Are you a spy elsa

lilmissmummy · 16/06/2010 18:36

Elsa AKA James Bond

lilmissmummy · 16/06/2010 18:44

Yay Tyson for getting the home birth you wanted!

I have just been convinced into getting 2 ducklings they are currently 2 weeks old and need a home (my friend has 20 she needs to home!) What have I let myself in for? I am pregnant and allergic to feathers, so probably not the best decision I have ever made - but they are sooooo cute!

(Note to self... must book antenatal classes) Thanks Sam12

Great news for your scan Piesy

nymphadora · 16/06/2010 18:54

lilmiss broody for ducks ?

elsa great package but intruiged by what you do

Hermya321 · 16/06/2010 20:10

Mamjo Don't watch crime watch, but in all honesty random attacks and assaults are relatively rare. Just teach your LO a bit of common sense and they should be fine. People are actually quite nice and 99.5% of the population aren't out to get anyone. The media has a lot to answer for these days. They sensationalise a lot of things and make it out to be worse than it actually is. I agree with Lizkin's DH.

Elsa I'm feeling the Jamie Bond vibe here, but I bet you do something rather specialised don't you. I bet you're like one of three people in the country who knows how to fix a particular type of water pipe aren't you. Or is that your cover!!

I have my pram and I've ordered my cot today, I feel very bizarely organised. The pram came today and I've had lots of fun putting it together and the teddy bear I won in a raffle seems to be quite content in there.

nymphadora · 16/06/2010 21:02

Just pit a thread in chat, need fancy dress for dh, me & dd2. Theme is summer of love. HELP!!!!

Hermya321 · 16/06/2010 21:40

Couldn't find it, but seriously hippy floaty dresses from Asda, bit of face paint flowers on the cheeks and one of those weird head band things and you're good to go I think. You could also dress up as the beetles.

nymphadora · 16/06/2010 22:12

Asda didn't think of there wrote them off ( and most others now I'm in mat clothes. Shouldbe able to get one cheap to fit

Hermya321 · 16/06/2010 22:43

Nymph They have some bandeau strappy type tops with very long bottom bits, they're about £6 each and should fit the bill for yourself. Very flowery and summery. I think in the one near you, they'll be sort of in front of you as you walk in the door about two racks back. (I'm not a freaky weird person who spends all her time in Asda btw, my friend has one and I think of her every time I see the top hence why I clocked it).

tiredfeet · 16/06/2010 23:03

oh I feel so much better that people are still booking their ante-natal classes now. My midwife at 16 weeks was appalled I hadn't booked already and made me feel like a terrible mother, despite the fact I had had hyperemesis until about a week before the appointment!

piesey congratulations on the scan, you must be so pleased

tyson I'm so glad your appointment went well so you can relax about that

I've been out at a big meeting for a charity I'm a trustee of all evening, I was really looking forward to it but the room was really hot and all I wanted to do was fall asleep, I could barely keep my eyes open even though it was really interesting

AbFabT · 17/06/2010 00:10

I had booked my NCT ante-natal classes ages ago, but I've just discovered two of them are held at the tutor's home, where there are several cats. Cats make my eyes itch, and really agitate me. Aargh. I've emailed to see if they can stick with the main venue, but they won't. So I've asked if they can ensure the room is vacuumed and well-aired so I am not aggravated by the cat fur or whatever it is that makes my eyes water and itch, but have been told that one of the cats 'makes a big fuss if not allowed in the room during sessions, as he likes the attention'. WTF?! I've been offered my money back, but I am a bit hacked off I have to now try and find an alternative. I'd have thought they'd be a bit more accommodating. Damn cats.

Hermya321 · 17/06/2010 00:13

Tiredfeet I only booked mine because the midwife waved a sheet of paper with a sign up sheet in front of me at my twenty week scan, if she hadn't I'm sure me and DH would just have driffed into parenthood none the wiser.

Hermya321 · 17/06/2010 00:22

Abfab That is unreasonable of the NCT, what if you had asthma? It really isn't fair for you to put up with something when you have PAID for a course. Sod the cat, who is paying for the woman to keep the fat thing in cat food and cat nip. Yep thats right, you and your course mates. I'd kick up a fuss if I was you, tell them that you expected better of a national organisation and that you feel really let down by their attitude which is a reasonable request. If there was no warnings in the oringinal course material before you paid then I think you have grounds to complain.

Just be nice, polite and firm but with a disapointed tone of voice and see how you get on.

floozietoozie · 17/06/2010 00:46

AbFabT - don't think I'd want birthing advice from someone who thinks her cat has priority over a first time mother during an ante natal class. Sounds like a lucky escape. I love cats generally but that's ridiculous.

Hello all. I'll post again at a more reasonable time when I'm not on the phone and tell you my eventful trip away story.

Think I'm now the last person waiting to have a scan. It's on Friday.

nymphadora · 17/06/2010 07:26

abfab that's awful! Complain to th NCT. How can they justify that. There's no reason to move from the main venue surely.

hermyalol at you diecting me round Asda! It's anoher excuse for breakfast out though isn't it

Xavielli · 17/06/2010 07:54

AbFab - Thats awful! I would be complaining too.

Tiredfeet - for what it is worth I have never done any antenatal classes, with my first the NHS charged £60 for the course and to a 19 year old homeless single pregnant lady there was no way I could have found that amount to give as a lump sum! I have survived 2 births without them - Your body will tell you what to do, midwives on delivery suit are always lovely, calm and compassionate (Its when you get to postnatal they get... well... thats another story) so if there is a problem and you can't get into any classes or the NCT are cat wierdos you will cope. I wish I'd have had them though, purely for the fact that I might have made some Mummy friends.
