Xavielli · 15/06/2010 15:55

I do know the sex, yes, I will add it to the stats list as soon as DP isn't any where near... So I'd appreciate if we could leave it there? IYSWIM? (His computer is right next to mine on the same desk!!)

Thanks for the congrats, was so lovely.

Welcome Dexter and Gertie!

We aren't allowed to discuss names anymore as it will be a bit of a give away as to the sex

tiredfeet · 15/06/2010 15:55

glad to know I'm not the only one sobbing all the time at the minute. I'm not normally a big crier, only occasionally when I'm angry. But at the minute poor DH has had to get used to me randomly bursting into tears and sobbing all the time, think his clothes are permanently a bit damp from me clinging to him while I cry! Luckily he is quietly accepting the random moods that have taken over me and being nice about it (which makes me cry all over again.....)

sam12 · 15/06/2010 15:59

Thanks Dexter I am sure I was only nagging him about something anyway
I am not normally a crier at all- I seem to be ok most of the time but have one emotional day a week lately so it could be worse.

piesey · 15/06/2010 16:29

Oh Mamjo your posts made me cry - you must be over the moon after 6 years! And your DH sounds so sweet!

Good news Xav - glad everything is ok.

We just call it baby or Little One - not really very original!

We've got our scan tomorrow morning so fingers crossed everything is ok.

Hermya321 · 15/06/2010 16:35

Ah right Nymph but still very good news.

I occasionally call mine the Jellybaby but mostly it's just baby. I'm with you Pisey, not very inspiring.

DillyDora · 15/06/2010 17:54

OOh, good luck w scan Piesy

We call the baby Bean (also not v original!!) but we also call him by his name, Toby, now.

Hello Dexter (waves)

Tyson86 · 15/06/2010 18:28

Hi just popping in to keep my placeand ive got my terrifying consultant app tomorrow so should know if i can have ahome birth or not. Im so scared

mamjo · 15/06/2010 21:01

Good luck Tyson

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 15/06/2010 21:28

Welcome Dexter (and Gertie)

Tyson - best of luck tomorrow, hope it goes well.

My MW appt was good - got my MAT B1 and a listen to heartbeat - I asked what sex she thought it was from the beat (some claim to know the difference) and she guessed girl without me saying the scan results, so another vote for a little girl! I think I may just allow myself to look at a cute little outfit now

Packing as off on my hols for a couple of days - or rather, I am micromanaging dh's packing from the sofa. I think he is being surprisingly patient!! I'm shattered from another long exhausting day (with a tantruming teething toddler) so I have some excuse.

BionicEar · 15/06/2010 21:58

Tyson - enjoy tomorrow!

I've been in a bit of a grump this eve, as very tired and feel very hormonal - DH has not helped my mood.

Probably the hormones have overreacted but I got upset by fact that I work late, pick up DD from friend where she had tea, got home was starving, he wasn't here, only to discover he was over at friends having a BBQ at theirs. His excuse when I asked why he didn't let me know his whereabouts or the fact that he planned to eat without me? "I forgot"
Hmmmph! Told him I might forget to make any food for him over next few days and see how he likes it.

Guess it just bugged me as I'm nearly always the one to make food, and he only does it if has specific instruction to get something in oven and even then it a really simple thing to make. Grrrrh! Just annoys me that he doesn't seem to think about helping in this way, or doing it without being asked.

Sorry I'm venting - should go away now and take to my bed.

SilverSky · 15/06/2010 22:54

Vent away. It's the place to let rip!

Husband doesn't call the bump anything. I call it the "little person" sometimes but other than that I don't really call him or her anything as it feels a bit weird!!!

DillyDora · 16/06/2010 09:24

bionicEar smacked legs for DH! (I'm being very free with the smacked legs just lately) That's just bad manners so he has to go in the doghouse until he redeems himself (by taking you out for dinner )

Hope you feel better about it all today.

nymphadora · 16/06/2010 09:24

Good Luck Tyson

I've just done the school run on FOOT for the first time in a month. I've been doing the afternoon one as I can rest between there and back but I did both ways without arest . Need another shower though as I'm sweating so much. Is anyone else v hot all the time?

I also keep spilling food down my tops , getting tomato stains on everything. Dh is threatening me with a bib

mamjo · 16/06/2010 09:34

Morning all,

I am so frustrated today with the courier company used by Kiddicare. I ordered DH a baby Bjorn Carrier for fathers day as he as been talking about one for YEARS! its just 1 of the images he has always had of himself with his baby.

Anyway, Kiddicare have sent the parcel to express link who email me at about 9.15 everyday to say that they will deliver the item the same day during a 1 hour window. This sounds lovely but as I am already at work when I recieve the email it is too late for me to arrange to be at home. They have no contact details for me to arrange a different time and/or address so everyday I miss the delivery!!! aarrgghh!!

rant over.

Elsa123 · 16/06/2010 09:41

AbfabT- i missed your post about your friend- I am very sorry to hear that news.

I'm the same as you Silversky, the bump doesn't tend to get called anything, but my DH asks how 'tum' is.

I dreamt last night that I had a girl weighing 6lbs by c section under GA. It all worked out fine, but in my dream I kept getting pulled from pillar to post and wasn't getting an opportunity to try to feed her and I kept saying, but I want to try and breastfeed! It was all very lucid and lasted ages. It was realistic until the bit where all those who had given birth could be identified by the large black witch hat hovering above each of their beds.....

Nymph- no, but I do however get out of breath ridiculously easily and feel very unfit as I have to take a breather at the top of the stairs.

DillyDora · 16/06/2010 09:42

smacked legs for Express Link mamjo

shieldbug · 16/06/2010 11:07

Not having such a good day today. Woke up feeling strange and then nearly passed out when doing laundry. Then felt absolutley dreadful (including retching) for about 15 mins before feeling better. Is this normal?

nymph ever since being pg my temperature control has gone haywire. I feel the cold more easily and after very mild activity can get way too hot. Well done for managing the school run though. Glad to hear things are getting better.

nymphadora · 16/06/2010 11:34

Going for my hair cut soon (havent had it done since October ) gives me another (little) walk out. Will be back in an hour taking my clothes off again for being too hot.

shieldbug May be a heat/BP thing? Laundry is and bending up & down thing?

shieldbug · 16/06/2010 12:00

nymph have fun at the hairdressers. I think you might be right about the BP. I will probably count as "just one of those things" unless it happens again.

mamjo · 16/06/2010 12:15

shieldbug I agree about the heat thing. I canget a little faint and sicky if I move to quickly when I get up!!

Have fun at the hairdressers nymph make sure you get a good head massage!!

I managed to get home intime for the delivery today so DH will get his fathers day pressy after all!! Hooray!!

Lizkin · 16/06/2010 12:29

Greetings ladies,

Haven't posted for a while though have been reading. I really like the half-way questions (I'm 23 weeks today), so here are my answers:

  1. What has been your most special moment so far?
The 10-week dating scan with DH, seeing babs wriggle for the first time and being told that meant the chances of miscarriage were almost nil. Then walking into town afterwards with DH and seeing the spring flowers in the sun...
  1. What did you feel during (and after) that first scan?
Joy! Then, after the 20 week scan, when I found out we're having a girl, I had a couple of days of 'oh my goodness can I bring up a girl?? - not having been at all a typical girl myself. Bit of crying at the awesome responsibility.
  1. What has been your worst point so far?
Horrible sickness in the first weeks, lost 3kg and at one point could only eat dry crackers.
  1. What do you wish someone had told you before?
How bad the sickness is! Constant, all day every day, and a nose like a bloodhound, which only made it worse. Couldn't open the fridge, couldn't cook anything or even look at raw meat, DH took over cooking and food shopping for about 5 weeks.
  1. What (if anything) do you wish you could have done differently?
Wish DH could have come to the 20 week scan - he planned to but his work changed last minute and I couldn't change the appointment.
  1. What do you hope for with your birth experience?
I live in the Netherlands where home births are pretty normal. So, I'm hoping for a natural home birth and to be able to walk around etc during contractions. Also that Babs can try and breastfeed in the first hour after birth when she's wide awake. Also hoping low placenta will move up - they told me it probably will, but otherwise there's a chance of a Caesarian.
  1. What do you most look forward to, from now?
Seeing Babs' face properly - the 2D scan doesn't really show it and we won't get any other kind. Meeting this new person and seeing what she's like!
  1. If you could say in 3 words what your experience has been so far, what would those 3 words be?
newness, excited anticipation!

Hope you feel better soon Shieldbug, take it easy.

nymphadora · 16/06/2010 13:23

lizkin I have 2 girls and they despair of me cos I'm not girly. It all works out though! I'm worrying if I get a boy I won't know what to do despite mainly having worked with boys for years!

mamjo · 16/06/2010 13:39

I was almost having panic attacks last nght watching crimewatch because it suddenly stuck me that I will 1 day be a parent to a teenager and how do you keep them safe?

piesey · 16/06/2010 14:08

Hi All

Well scan went well and baby was lively and kicking! I can't believe how big it looks compared with the 12 week one. Everything is where it should be and sizes are all ok. It stuck it's thumb up which was very cute. We din't find out the sex, so we will wait for the surprise!

I do have a low anterior placenta, so have to have another scan at 34 weeks but it isn't covering the cervix (phew) so the sonographer reckons it'll move up anyway so I shouldn't worry.

shieldbug hope you are feeling better - I get dizzy if I'm rushing around the place, even if it's not too hot, and bending up and down makes me go wobbly. Hope you are ok.

nymph - hope you have fun at the hairdressers!

shieldbug · 16/06/2010 14:48

congrats piesey, so glad to hear all is well. Isn't it just so fantastic to see the baby moving and kicking. Sproglet managed to moon at the sonographer when I had my last scan; yours sounds more civilised giving the thumbs up!
Hope all works out with the placenta. Fingers crossed.

Still feeling dizzy but no more of the really unpleasant symptoms. I've been able to do work at uni so it's not too bad.
