Am on a tired day. Really flagging & dh wants to go to the pictures. Am likely to fall asleep

suffering indegestion too now. Next time I'm at the drs will be getting gaviscon by the bucket!

SilverSky · 12/06/2010 21:12

I've been on the go all day. Not done any housework. Am shattered and glad to be finally home. Looking forward to another day of rest tomorrow.

Hermya321 · 12/06/2010 21:17

Nymph Didn't know they would give you Gaviscon on perscription? Have I been buying it like some kind of fool???

tiredfeet · 12/06/2010 21:42

hello ladies, have been away for a week, just had a scan through of the thread, I am always impressed how much chat is going on!

sorry to all those who are suffering various problems .

My main pregnancy miseries at the minute are largely amusing, my breasts have begun leaking which took me by suprise. The first time it happened we were out for drinks with friends, I thought I must have absent mindedly spilt lemonade on a boob! Next time was when I'd had a hug from DH, I looked down at my chest and the penny dropped! Need to get some pad things I think. I also had to do a lot of al fresco weeing whilst walking on holiday in cornwall, it was either that or do irritatingly short walks.

I've sent in my maternity leave form too, I'm starting on 11th September, but using annual leave to go very part time from late July onwards. It is so hard trying to get the balance right though.

The holiday was great for getting DH to switch off for long enough to talk about names and prams etc, he is really excited about the baby but is just so overwhelmingly busy at work until the end of the summer. It was very funny as I kept realising I was checking out peoples prams instead of admiring the beautiful scenery, but then I noticed DH doing the same!! It also felt really special having our last child free holiday, it felt very romantic in a strange way, like we were both enjoying our last time as just a couple, but also getting excited about becoming a family. Didn't stop me having the odd twinge of jealousy as DH got to sample all the local cider though

SilverSky · 13/06/2010 06:32

I've even stopped looking at the babies and am checking out their wheels !

What are most people going for in terms of Pushchair/pram/car seat combo?

nymphadora · 13/06/2010 10:57

hermya they used to anyway. My gp is pretty good at giving me perscriptions for stuff so if he can he will!

I'm checking out prams too. Our town is cobbled so I'm seeing which ones work on the cobbles best!

SilverSky · 13/06/2010 11:54

So far we have looked at Mothercare range and the Quinny. I feel like I need to see more before making a decision.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 13/06/2010 13:12

Silver I had a Quinny Buzz and quite liked it although preferred the Jane. Got a Bugaboo now (sand base, cream seat and hood)and a Quinny Zapp for quick trips although DS3 will prob stay in that. Am thinking about getting some custome made covers for the Bugaboo.

Saw doc and midwife today. Found Genny's heartbeat straight away and all fine. Only slight issue is that they did a sickle cell blood test on my last set of bloods by accident (it's a normal test here except for caucasians) and while the blood test done here was normal for something called MCV (mean cell volume), it was elevated in the sickle cell test that was sent to London. This could indicate pernicious anaemia. I am ignoring the elevated result as it's likely to be wrong and i don't have any symptoms of B12 deficiency. So I said not to bother doing another set of bloods today. Do you think I'm being a bit too blase? I'll have another set of bloods done at 28 weeks anyway..

What's everyone doing about nursery decor? I was going to have DC4 in with DS3 and keep our spare room but as DC4 is a girl, I'm chucking out the spare bed, replacing it with a sofa bed and turning the room into a nursery. Am thinking Flower Fairies and lilac gingham.

Anyhoo, sorry for blathering on. Off to make shepherds pie for tea and eat snickers bars while the boys aren't looking

Xavielli · 13/06/2010 13:54

I'm half way today! The thread title is now correct.

Scan on Tuesday, really excited and quite scared!

ILoveGregoryHouse · 13/06/2010 14:08

Xav was just thinking the exact same thing - only today and we're all at least half way! Amazing isn't it?

nunnie · 13/06/2010 14:08

I got my freebie pram off my cousin yesterday, which is nice, it is always nice not to have to pay for things with DD we only used a lie flat pushchair never bothered with a pram. This is a puschair with a carrycot and it can be both parent facing and away from my ugly mug facing, DD couldn't look at my ugly mug at all with her pushchair.

As for nursery think we will touch up the yellow paint in what was DD's baby room and keep the animal theme. DD picked her own colours when she moved into a larger room last year, she has pink and purple now.

balletmoo · 13/06/2010 14:09

Hello everyone! I'm a MN Newbie and due on 13 October, so I thought I would stop by and say hello!

I'm 22+4 and had my scan about two and a half weeks ago, but as they found a mild echogenic bowel, I am back at the hospital tomorrow for another one with a consultant. Bit nervous but trying not to think about it too much - I'm reasoning with myself that it's only one soft marker and if they were worried I'd have been called in again sooner...

Still not quite got my head around this "being pregnant" lark though!! I'm a bit of a control-freak and I can't get used to the idea of my body not being controlled by me any more!!!

Anyone here from Fulham?

nunnie · 13/06/2010 14:46

Hello and welcome to mumsnet balletmoo.
Hope everything goes well with the consultant tomorrow.

This is my 2nd, and I can't get my head round being pregnant either. With DD hit hit me after I had given birth, and I sounded like a deranged drunk, telling everyone that would listen and even those that didn't want to that she was mine and I was a mum .

I'm not from Fulham I am a northern mumsnetter but I am sure there will be someone on here from around your area.

Oops sorry for saying that twice

nymphadora · 13/06/2010 15:10

Hi balletmoo I'm another northerner but I'm sure there's people around your area. Have you seen mumsnet local yet?

mamjo · 13/06/2010 17:36

Hi balletmoo welcome to MN.

Sorry to hear about your scan but I am sure that you will feel better when you have spoken to the consultant. In the meantime try not to worry too much.

I am in Twickenham so not too far away (although I too am a northerner, just find myself living down here).

I didn't know about local, will go and check that out now.

AbFabT · 13/06/2010 17:39

Welcome, balletmoo. I am in Wimbledon, so very close to Fulham!
Good luck with your appointment tomorrow!
Have you added yourself to the stats list? Some people have listed their areas there.

ILGH, I LOVE the Flower Fairies stuff! Classy and chic and lovely! We're having our baby in with us so not bothering about a nursery at this stage.

Glad we are all now half-way there! I am 24 weeks tomorrow, so officially viable in a few hours!

I am 22 wks tmw. Husband says 5 mths have gone quickly - I said " for you maybe! ".

DillyDora · 13/06/2010 19:57

Hi balletmoo hope all goes well with the consultant. The only control freakery thing I have is that my bump suddenly grew this w/e while I was at Mum's and I kept saying - 'o no, it's just gas, it'll go down in a bit'(as it used to) and my mum was saying ' er..no...that's your baby bump now!' She's right too...it's going nowhere...

Sorry to those feeling rough, especially yr spd Hermya. I have some pain today from carrying my weekend bag to the train, so I will have to rest. DH is trying to explain to bump about the world cup....oookaaaay....he was holding on to my tummy and saying 'your papa is going to be shouting a lot today, Beanie!' (he's German) I'm sure the bean understands completely....

OMG - finally got maternity bras that fit, what a revelation no more breast pain! Ahem....

Vikks · 13/06/2010 20:09

Hi All. Hope you?ve all had cracking weekends.

DH and I have been amusing ourselves today by watching my belly! Little H seems to have found his legs over the past few days and I love watching him move!
Also we?ve got scan no. 6 tomorrow and we?re both are super excited to see him again!

Welcome Balletmoo! Snap 13th Oct too!
Hope all goes well tomorrow, let us know. Nowhere near Fulham I?m afraid, I?m in the West Country.

Xavielli Good luck with your scan!

Tiredfeet I?m with you re. pads got mine a few days ago. No leaks in public yet thankfully, I?m noticing it more when I wake up.

Re. Pushchairs, DH and I are going for the Urbo from M&P with all the extra bits and the car seat. Anyone got/seen it? We liked it because it was really light; we have many stairs.

Hermya321 · 13/06/2010 20:33

Oh my gosh!! I just bought a pram!! That means I'm going to have a baby that I'm going to be pushing in said pram.

That is slightly scary.

Silver In the end I've gone for a Quinny Buzz in black with carrycot and what not. For me it was either that or the Phil and Teds, but everyone I know seems to have a Phil and Teds so I had to get something different. They've seem to have bought them on the basis that they'll be having children close together (some don't even have their first one yet) and so will need that sort of pram that can double up. Personally for me the thought of a second child is an abstract thought and more one of those things that will be discussed at a much later date.

Mrspugh · 13/06/2010 20:54

oooh I didn't know you could get lanisoh on prescription, that's good to know, thanks x

Xavielli · 13/06/2010 21:37

Hermya! How brave you are

Dilly - I bet your DH is very happy this evening and did indeed shout alot!

I've still got my heart set on the iCandy Cherry - never going to afford it new though so still trawling eBay and hoping that when I go to Wellesbourne market in August that that have one there!

Welcome to MN balletmoo - can be a rough ride at times but this thread is safe, only support to be had here. I'm in Oxfordshire.

Silversky I was just thinking that the last 16 weeks have passed rather quickly. It's the second half that drags I'm afraid, especially after 30 weeks.

Hermya321 · 13/06/2010 21:53

Xav I got my pram from ebay, it was a group effort between me and my MIL.

To those that do have SPD, do not watch Russell Howards good news. I laughed so much that it set it off last night. I was sat on the sofa with my legs crossed trying not to laugh (that made it worse) and then cursing the funny man for making me laugh too much.
