Hermya321 · 11/06/2010 10:25

Oh Floozie it's one of these, I have a real weakness for expensive make up (I do tend to bargin hunt to get it though) and Benefit is one of those brands that pretty much makes up most of my collection. The other half is made up of Lancome juicy tubes.

In fact when I found out about the whole lack of money thing that will happen when I go on SMP, it wasn't the fact that we would struggle to get by that upset me the most. No for me, the straw was when my MIL said to me 'well you might have to buy cheaper make up for a while or just not wear any'. My face was like , I cried a lot that evening.

DH was very nice to me and we came up with me saving up to have a make up fund and buying a few extra bits so it's not so much of a wrench when we have no money. Me personally, I can survive on a capsule wardrobe but I simply can not survive without decent concealer.

My DH is becoming very good at pregnancy damage control these days.

lilmissmummy · 11/06/2010 11:03

I'm going out to buy that magazine too later. Looks great!

lol re:pregnancy damage control, dh says it is like living with his wifes bizarre, emotional, pyschotic, irrational twin! Cant see it myself though!

mamjo · 11/06/2010 11:11

My make up bag has had to be renewed since getting PG as I have developed an allergy to anything YSL and Lancome, luckily still ok with Clarins and Chanel. Gona go out and get that mag now though as I love to think I am gettinga great freebie!!!

backagain how are you managing not to open the paper? I wouldn't be able to have it in the house.

Ivytheterrible · 11/06/2010 11:29

hermya thanks for the glamour mag tip - just nipped out to local shop as "needed" banana milkshake and got 3 different versions - badgal stick, eye bright & it stick concealer. I don't wear makeup that often but like the good stuff!

Planning a shopping trip with husband 2morrow to look at pushchairs in John Lewis I need a shortlist so can bargain-hunt over the next few months.

Ivytheterrible · 11/06/2010 11:31

backagain open the paper!

sam12 · 11/06/2010 12:10

Congrats lilmiss on your little girl.
Had two bananas for my morning break- so hopefully they will do the trick and are healthier than the chocolate rolls I couldn't stop eating yesterday

shieldbug · 11/06/2010 13:31

Hermya hope you can get some relief from the pain soon and they can work out what's going on.

lilmiss congrats on your little girl. How exciting!

backagain you are one tough cookie! Can you also just eat part of a chocolate bar, and then save the rest until later? Extreme will power!

I get cramp 3-4 times a night but I do eat bananas regularly. Perhaps I'll try the tonic water too. I assume that it's ok when pg (it having quinine in and all)?

Just been looking at lots of free online baby knitting and crochet patterns and printed off far more than I'll ever have time for. Trouble is, like many of you, I don't want to have lots of lemon-coloured things, but it's so hard to find nice bright baby wool that isn't gender-specific. I want nice reds and purples and flecked greens and browns...oh you get the picture! I'm trying to support our local craft shop, but it's pastels all the way!

shieldbug · 11/06/2010 13:34

Wow just nipped onto amazon and found all the wool I could possibly crave! Dh will be met with a huge plea (he has the credit card....can't think why) when he gets home!!

mamjo · 11/06/2010 13:50

shieldbug I am so jealous that you can knit. Time I try it i a disaster. I would love to be able to knit something beautiful for LO but am having to leave it with MIL.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 11/06/2010 14:08

Shieldbug- I am trying to knit a patchwork quilt to get myself going- square are all I can muster but I do not have the patience! It will end up being a foot muff rather than a quilt

Re quinine- no idea, but I guess if it's in moderation it can't be too bad? Medic friend recommended it to me, did seem to work.

I'm shattered from racing around the aquarium with ds and pushing him up hill so icould get to debenhams, only to find nothing fitted and they had no maternity bras in my size argh!!

Elsa123 · 11/06/2010 14:12

I too shall be buying that magazine- and also splurging on nice stuff for myself and storing it away for the weeks we're on one wage....

Its not just bananas that help with cramps- the most important thing to have is salt. I've been getting foot cramps- always lovely.

shieldbug · 11/06/2010 14:41

seashells I'm impressed that you have so much energy. No wonder you're tired after all that. Lol at the foot muff!

elsa aha! An excuse to eat ready salted crisps! Foot cramps- definitely ouch time.

Hermya321 · 11/06/2010 15:14

Ooooo I'm glad to have spread the love on the Glamour/Benefit side.

Well I've been to the Docs today, like you said lilmissmummy I now have the joyous pleasure of being part of the SPD bunch . They've referred me to a physio and I spoke to work as well. Luckily the person I spoke to was a woman and the first words out of her mouth were 'I've had that, it's terrible isn't it'. I was very grateful, I had visions of trying to explain SPD to my male boss.

moonstorm · 11/06/2010 18:48

Hello all

Am going to get myself one of those mags! Coming on just for a rant really, as I haven't resally go time to come on at all!

(TMI) Managed to go and get a thrush infection managed to avoid anything like this in the last pregnancy. The dr diagnosed over the phone and said it was really, really common in pregnancy but can be very hard to clear up. I would have liked a swab taken at the time just to double check( have only ever had it once before over 10 years ago!). But now I am sure - I can't believe the rate at which it has got worse over the course of the day even when trying to treat it. Got some cream, but it's for external areas only - how will I know if the infection is spread inside? Also do you think I can keep the cream in the fridge? It doesn't say anywhere... it's not Caneston, but it's the same active ingredient. Any tips anyone???

Hermya - sorry to hear about your SPD, I think that beats my infection. Hope it doesn't get too bad for you.

Have a good Friday evening everyone x

nunnie · 11/06/2010 19:35

Hello all.

I had Thrush a few times during last pregnancy, and have had it twice already with this. I didn't keep in the fridge, and was prescribed the combi in first pregnancy with the cream for outside and tablet for internal (not via mouth). Cleared me up quickly, but have just used the cream this time, if I start getting discharge then will take a trip to gp and see if I can get combi pack again.

Sorry to hear about your SPD Hermya.

I don't wear makeup haven't since my wedding day, and before that don't think I ever wore it.

Have a good weekend one and all x

dontstopmenow · 11/06/2010 19:49

Hello everyone. Well, the world cup has left me with no communication from dh and ds (3)! so I am free to mumsnet to my hearts content.
Sorry about the thrush moonstorm, its horrible isn't it. A lot of people seem to swear by covering everything(!) with natural bio yogurt - and that you could certainly keep in the fridge.
Good luck - I hope it clears now over the weekend. x

Our baby is wriggling a lot now - always when I am doing nothing though, although that is probably just when I notice it more.

My ankles are starting to swell up a bit now - am hoping that this is normal and due to hot weather and baby stuff. No other symptoms though so I am sure its all fine. Just not very attractive!

Have a good weekend all.

BionicEar · 11/06/2010 21:53

Get well wishes to all those suffering with aches and pain, including thrush!

My biggest bug bear is I seem to be getting blisters on my face - doesn't look very attractive! I have been suffering with dry skin throughout pregnancy but this week some of the dry skin patches have gone more blister like.

Have avoided make up whilst pregnant as noticed that was making skin worst. Do wonder if the blisters are in reaction to sun cream. Am using E45 as when went into Boots the lday told me that was best skin product to use on dry skin in pregnancy but to go to GP if got worst. Have book appointment for next Thurs as was earliest appointment I could get but I bet you that blisters will have gone by then and they will think I'm making it up.

Anyone else experiencing this?

On the upside I'm doing fairly well pregnancy-wise and looking forward to scan on Monday.

SilverSky · 12/06/2010 07:08

I can't use e45 as my skin reacts badly to it. I am tying to think of what else you could also use if the e45 doesn't work but brain will not work.

I seem to be getting backache but I think it's to do with doing a desk job but its not like an ache I have ever experienced before. It's quite high up. All preggo related and prob all very normal.

Have woken up with horrendous bloody hayfever. I am def not blooming. Far from it.

SilverSky · 12/06/2010 07:09

Ps I LOVE Benefit makeup. Tis my favourite !

Oh and I am going to look at pushchairs this morning!

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 12/06/2010 07:19

Good morning everyone!

Silver sky, could be your ribs shifting? I got measured for a bra yesterday and have gone from 34-36 so things are happening!

Moonstorm - you can get pessaries from gp if you think its internal too - natural yoghurt can also help apparently. Hope it clears up soon! Don't use perfumed bath stuff/shower gel etc for a bit.

Umm, we have sunshine for the wedding! dh back and was worked like a trojan last night packing so we could get away on time. The bride has given in and there will be a football screen during the reception, pooe girl!! She is watching games on thoer honeymoon in SA too - sounds a successful marriage to me! I think she enjoys it too thank goodness

MW appt tues - can't wait! Have lovely weekends all

SilverSky · 12/06/2010 07:27

My back has already expanded and have gone from 32 to 36 ! I just hope that everything shrinks back after the birth!

When we got married it was the FA cup which caused some people to have to really think if they wanted to accept the invitation! My take on it was "well if you have to give it that much bloody thought then do Not accept as I have a list as long as my arm who ACTUALLY want to celebrate our day with us".

nymphadora · 12/06/2010 08:45

hermya sympathies, I suppose it's good it's diagnosed early though?

moonstorm I was toldthat pessaries had to be done by gp/mw now but in previous pregnacies I had them and they worked v fast

piesey · 12/06/2010 09:17

Bionicear my sister can't use E45 either as she has very sensitive skin but she gets big tubs of something called Ultrabase I think from the GP (and it would be free fro you of course at the moment!) It's a really basic cream and I've used some and it is a bit nicer than E45 - less greasy, although I quite like E45 generally. You coould ask about that. Hope your blisters clear up soon.

Thnaks of rht etip about Glamour magazine - I will be getting it too!

My bra size has also gone from a 34 to a 36 I'm hoping it doesn't go any bigger!

don'tstopmenow My ankles are also swelling up now - hope it doesn't continue too much!

Seashells - hope you have a nice time at the wedding. I'm glasd we didn't choose a big football day to get married although I do like football!
