Nmyph fingers crossed everything will be OK this time and you get support if you need it

SamB hope the pain eases soon

Sam12 and Roobear - yes I very tempted to peek but if I know then I will spill the beans to everyone. At least we can look in a few weeks time when all the excitement of the scan has died down. That said I told my Mum that we didn't find out the sex and she didn't believe me!

babybunting2010 · 10/06/2010 15:36

Sorry Abfab was only saying that I had found it made a real difference in stopping me from rolling onto my back (at which point I wake up as it's uncomfortable) wasn't suggesting anyone needed one, was just a suggestion. I used a normal pillow but I still rolled onto my back. Maybe it's just me.

SamB and Nymph- hope you feel better soon.

Have a nice rest of the day!

SamanthaB123 · 10/06/2010 15:45

Hmmm. Just been to the doctors, who were very good and saw me straight away. I did have some signs of a wee infection again, although nothing like before so have more anti-biotics. She actually didn't think that it was an infection but because of the weekend and the time it takes to get the results back she didn't want to take any chances. She thought that it was 'mechanical' whatever that means and that it might just go on its own. Or might turn out to be spd in which case it won't go. I don't feel convinced somehow... SB

nymphadora · 10/06/2010 16:05

samB hope it goes then !

Have a thread on employment issues if anyone has any advice, can't link v easily on my phone but will later. Need to stop posting at school run time though!

AbFabT · 10/06/2010 16:53

Thanks, babybunting, just didn't want to be doing anything wrong re sleeping positions. Sleep well!

SamB, hope it clears up pronto!

Nymph, I'll link for you (Nymph's Thread) - hope someone a bit more cluey than me turns up soon!

I've just emailed my Personnel department with my plans for when I'd like to go on Maternity Leave, and my ideas for how much of my accumulated leave I can carry over - hope they go for it, as it means I'll be off for 15 months! Wish me luck please!

Hi All. Looking forward to the weekend here and DH came home early so DS3 in particular was beside himself with glee. DH taking boys to watch the world cup opening game tomorrow so am looking forward to a manicure and pedicure and a relaxing afternoon.

Have bought a dream genii pillow which mum and dad will deliver to me when they come out - only two weeks now. I try my very best to slepp on the left side and hope the pillow will help - it's got support on both sides - front and back iykwim so stops you rolling on to your back. Also looking forward to getting my sacro support belts an crutches. This is definitely the last baby. I am old and knackered.

Sam I had bad ligament pain when I weed in last pregnancy. Pelvic floor exercises kind of helped. See how you feel after a couple of days on the meds and then maybe consider an osteopath.

BackAgain I admire your willpower.

Got some lovely frozen yoghurt to eat later.mmmmmmmmmmmm.

babybunting2010 · 10/06/2010 17:01

Nymph- You should post this on the other October thread, there are a couple of Lawyers on there who seem clued up on the old employment law.

AbFab- I am not sure I beleive in there being right and wrong positions think of all those people that don't even know they were pregnant and their babies are fine! Think we all get a little too much information sometimes. Good luck with the old 15 months off! Fingers crossed.

I am thinking of using my 3 weeks holiday and starting Mat leave 2 weeks before due week, does anyone who has already had LO's advise whether I will be bored having 5 weeks off before baby arrives?
x

AbFabT · 10/06/2010 17:06

Thanks, babybunting, you're right. And I just don't think I stay still during the night; don't think a pillow will stop me moving! And thanks re the 15 months.

ILGH, enjoy your boy-free pampering time!

OP posts:
nymphadora · 10/06/2010 17:08

babybunting think that should be fine. You will need nap time, nesting time, mumsnet time, nap time, shopping time, nap time, mumsnet time, nap time. And don't forget the hundreds of tiny meals cos you can't eat too much

abfab how long are you off for sickwise? If they don't let you carry it over you should be ok using it to avoid going back too much

I'm aiming for the year off with a few weeks before mat leave and similar at the end. Though if I can use KIT days during the unpaid bit it would be ok. Probably useful to work as that would be during the summer hols when we are usually busier AND dh would be off to look after baby! Haven't told work all this yet tho

AbFabT · 10/06/2010 18:46

nymph, I am currently off til June 25th, after which time I am on Jury Service, so depending on how long that goes on for, I am due back in work mid-July, if things get resolved. With the manager's response last time, I am of the opinion that he would be happy to drag this out until I am off on ML, which as long as I am getting paid, is fine by me, but we'll be having another meeting in a few weeks to see if there is a possible resolution (though from what I have heard, I know the line they are taking, and it's not conducive to my going back to work!). The policy is to pay sick leave for six months, and I will be under six months from when I started getting signed off and when the baby arrives, so I am covered there.
If I can't carry over all my leave from this financial year, I'll see how much I can, and go off as early as possible with the remainder.

OP posts:
nymphadora · 10/06/2010 19:01

Even if you go back you shouldn't have to be there for that long then! Hope jury service lasts a while too!

AbFabT · 10/06/2010 21:02

Yeah! Though genuinely, it was so so stressful, I was in tears DAILY, and I just couldn't face that any more. But I do have bigger and better things to focus on, and feel stronger now my baby is nearer the viable stage, you know?

OP posts:
Hermya321 · 10/06/2010 22:16

Abfab My advice for jury service would be to bring a good book, you may be waiting around a while.

Nymph Gosh I never realised you had PND, I'm sorry you had to go through that. I hope that this time you'll be a lot better and more supported. Have they given you a date for your section or do you have to wait on the consultant for that one?

I still feel a bit wretched, my nausea has come back with a vengence and I constantly feel like I've been kicked in the groin. I keep getting sharp shooty pains every now and then. I did ring my Midwife and they said it was round ligament pain, but if this carries on I'm going to go and speak with my Doctor. I'm also just exhausted at the mo as well. Hopefully I'll be ok at work tomorrow. On the plus side though, my skin looks fabulous.

I hope you're all well my lovelys!!

AbFabT · 10/06/2010 22:38

Thanks, Hermya - I've got plenty of baby-related books to take, I think I'll be occupied!

Hope you feel better soon.

floozietoozie · 10/06/2010 23:19

I've been working dates out and I think I'm finishing work on Sept 1st, which would be exactly one day later than I was when I had ds. I think I've got an extra week's leave than I thought which means I wouldn't need to start mat leave until 11 oct, so I'd be 37+3 by then (what an amazing thought, to get that far!). That sounds pretty good.

SamB sorry to hear about the painful hip/groin. I hope it's not SPD. In predictive text on the iPhone that comes up as SOS - how apt! Hermya hope you get better too. I feel a bit bad saying this, but I feel pretty good and quite blooming despite having a bit of a cough which kept me awake last night. I'm 20 wks tomorrow, yee haa. And this time tomorrow I'll be on dublin. Yee haa too! Except I may get panicky about being away from ds. Hope not.

Babybunting even if you do get bored with five weeks off just think - you will never,EVER, have the time to be bored again after the baby comes so make the most of it!!!!! . As nymph says, have some pampering, go for lunch, cinema, sleep - all the things you won't be doing for the foreseeable future.

I met my friend who's just two weeks behind me today. It's great having someone nearby in the same boat. She's got two already and is exactly five days older than me (39).. No morning sickness, a little bit of tiredness, very low downs risk for age -about 1in3000... I was very jealous and she was very sympathetic.

floozietoozie · 10/06/2010 23:23

I had my first bit of pregnancy calf cramp this
morning. I got it loads with ds around this time. Ouch!! Where are the bananas?

mamjo · 11/06/2010 07:43

Morning!!!
Baby mamjo seems to be very excited that the world cup starts today, he is playing his own game in there this morning!! Must be picking in his daddy's general giddiness

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 11/06/2010 07:51

Floozie- I'm thinking 1st sept too, it will be 4 weeks before.

Ddrink tonic water and eat bananas for cramps!

Day 3 of dh away, and ds has been poorly for most but looks well enough today to go to the aquarium

Elsa123 · 11/06/2010 08:48

Xav- it was interesting to read about your PND experience and I genuinely think that is what happened to my MIL with my DH when he was a baby, except she never snapped out of it.

Thank the Lord its Friday- what a long week!

nymphadora · 11/06/2010 09:16

I have only just realised that I've no had twitchy legs since stopping my meds either!

Hermya Likely to be 12th October but thats not definate until a couple of weeks before.

Hermya321 · 11/06/2010 09:23

Nymph Ah right.

I spent the whole night tossing and turning and in agony. I feel like my groin is trying to split itself in half. I've rang into work, I felt a bit stupid saying that I've got painful hips and tummy, but I suppose as excuses go it's not the worst they've heard. I'm off to the Docs in about an hour and a half and hopefully I'll get something sorted.

I know they might say round ligament pain, but it's getting worse not better and I feel like crying from it half the time.

On the plus side when I dropped DH off at work this morning and popped into the Supermarket (I needed Coco pops) and I found Glamour Magazine had Benefit eye bright and their badgal pencil free with them. The magazine is £2 a go and those pencils aren't cheap (£11 a go). Suffice it to say I was a happy bunny and bounced off with two copies feeling smug and barginous.

nymphadora · 11/06/2010 09:56

LOL at 'I needed cocopops'

sam12 · 11/06/2010 10:15

Am glad it is not just me with the smell thing then!

floozie I have been getting cramp- didn't realise that was yet another pregnancy thing! It has woke me up a couple of nights. Thanks for the tip about bananas seashells- any excuse to eat anything .

Hermya hope it goes well at the doctors- that sounds awfull!

Elsa echoing the joy at it being Friday- this week as really dragged

floozietoozie · 11/06/2010 10:15

You're going to have to excuse my make-up ignorance but what's a badgal pencil? I'm intrigued.

I'm off to town with ds to get a pressie for my friend on Dublin whose 40th it is and possibly a tiny cabin sized suitcase. And possibly a bra if I can keep ds on board that long.

lilmissmummy · 11/06/2010 10:16

Had my scan yesterday and we are having a baby girl! Such a surprise as I was totally convinced that I was having a boy! v pleased that baby is healthy and active! Also pleased that she was so wriggly that they couldnt measure the heart chambers so have to go back in a couple of weeks we saw the heart pumping blood, which was amazing and also saw the blood going into the placenta and from the kidneys down the legs. Incredible!

Hermya it sounds like you have SPD as is sound like the pain that I have... I am waiting for an appointment from the physio!

Nymph glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. The hospital thought I might have PND with dc2 as I had antenatal depression but the minute she was born I was better thankfully! I feel ok with this one though and have put it down to a terrible relationship with xp compared to a great one with dh. I think that makes a massive diffeence.

Silver I am just like you dh is away with work this weekend and I am throwing a strop about it and barely talking to him. I cant help it though! I am like a child being really sulky! The dc just kissed him goodbye and said have a nice trip!

Good to hear about everyone elses positive scans, backagain are you not even tempted? I would have looked by now!

I just mentioned to dh aout packing a hospital bag towards the end of this month and he said to get the stuff together but he has bought me a bag???!!! I am a bit suprised that I am excited about a bag to be honest but I am
