So, honest opinion now, can baby boys wear uggs? (was thinking more of the moccasin style ones in SORKY's first link that the mini-adult ones)
Getting anxious about Boden now SORKY after seeing you have items...I must be restrained as have just paid off a mega chink on Next Directory, plus have earmarked money for dds' wallaper and curtains!
TINKS will be gutted she's missing this

Diege · 28/07/2010 13:06

Same here SORKY - dd1 will wear skinny jeans, stripey tops, leggings occasionally if they are black or purple and under things... Shop-wise we get some bits from Boden (she loves the combats and the tarten trousers/baggies they do) and also stuff from H&M that isn't pink/flowery/remotely girly. She also loves long ribbed cardigans, so winter-wise will usually be seen in skinnies (grey, blue), cordflares from Boden (hot orange last year!), and also loves knee length shorts over tights (had herringbone pair last year from Boden). So basically, yes, Boden seems to be the place for her!
Shoes are harder (she has 'boys' trainers' from Clarks, plus for the hols some spiderman crocs...)but quite likes baseball boots, pull-on boots. Def no party shoes allowed!

sorky · 28/07/2010 13:07

Diege, baby boys can sooooo wear Uggs

Ds's had them for the winter. The pram shoes type, rather than the soled ones though.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 28/07/2010 13:07

Sorky!!!!! now i'm not the one who forced you into buying from boden!! I haven't actually ever bought from there yet... have always looked longingly and heard DH's voice telling me i can get almost the same from next and save a few extra pennies... so i've become a next addict!!

Diege · 28/07/2010 13:08

Phew, that's a relief

Diege · 28/07/2010 13:09

about the uggs, not CANT's Boden urges

sorky · 28/07/2010 13:09

Thanks Diege. Last year we ventured into Boden for her and she wanted the cords but I'd already bought jeans for her. She is still wearing the l/s tee's we got her with cats on (she loves them)
Loves most garish things so will have a look at Boden with her.

She will wear tights, could try long short with her....

Will investigate further

cantmummyhaveabreak · 28/07/2010 13:12

wow- you're girls sound so hard to buy for- i hope the DD's stay into their normal girls clothing... DD1 curently loves next stuff with me!! loves coming in with me, never stops touching!! also loves the Jasper conran stuff normally too- always dresses though, and pretty shoes!!- she's super girly!!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 28/07/2010 13:15

Diege- i also agree that boys can wear uggs... obviously they have to be worn with a well matched outfit- have seen some super-chavvy looking little boys wearing them- poor things... their mothers always look super rough... but you have super good taste so i'm sure your DS would be able to wear them and look Fab!!

In fact- DS actually wants a pair!! have found him in his undies and DD's next ugg style boots before and have nearly had tears over why he can't have a pair!!

Diege · 28/07/2010 13:30

Thank-you CANT! I think uggs are the way forward then for ds (with well-mathced outfit, naturally ). My dd3 is very girly, so I can indulge my monsoon moments on her!
Oh SORKY, have consulted with dd1 and she says to tell your dd1 that knee length socks with long shorts are 'cool' (they did some funky argyle pairs in lime green last year) - yes, garish seems to be the magic word . Also try Zara and Joules (strange but true) Some of the polos passed muster, as did the blue and white turn-up baggy jeans...

cantmummyhaveabreak · 28/07/2010 13:33

Diege- i have got DD1 a lovely knitted jumper dress from monsoon, and also got DD2 some long puffball sorts to wear with tights ready for winter... i love monsoon!! in fact, just thought i should browse there for coats for the DC's!! off to browse then think i may turn the pc off for a bit beofr ei spend some money that i haven't got!!

bumpsnowjustplump · 28/07/2010 15:20

Hello all, havent had time to read through all the posts but Just wanted to say thank you to you all again for sponsoring jessica and owen on the toddle tomorrow, i will post pics after the event. We have exceeded our target which is great.. So thanks to you all xxxxxxxxxx

I have started my job now and am finding it hard work... Dont know why as I have only done six hours so far but it makes me feel like i have to get everything done in the day that i may have left till the evenings ie ironing, washing etc... So I feel that I am actually loosing quality time with the children.. if that makes sence.. This coupled with the fact that i will only be able to put them to bed twice every two weeks is really making me feel ........... dont know what the word it but I feel i am missing out...... Also as i have had to buy sat nav and CBR check and other bits for job i wont actually see any money from it for a few weeks....... I know it will be worth it in the end but right now the transition is shit....

Right will catch up now and try to get back on later when I get back from work....

tinktellyaddict · 28/07/2010 16:41

good shopping

cant - i like the next duffel cOAT BEST WILL PROB GET FOR DD1S WINTER COAT DD2 HAS a coat already from m&s slae last year is a blue coat with multi coloured spots

now my dd1 has a ds and a leapster 2
i would probably recomment the leapster 2 out of the both of them

www.amazon.co.uk/LeapFrog-Leapster2-Learning-System-Green/dp/B00134TC10/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys&qi d=1280331500&sr=8-1

i bought her the leapster last xmas when she was 4.5 years old
it is really good, it is sturdy and doesnt matter if it is dropped has great learning games, she has mr pencil - a great drawing game, ratatouille and pet pals
basically all the games teach you your letters and numbers
also much cheaper then ds

with the ds she hardly plays on it notthat many suitable games only one she plays on is mario bros going aroung shooting things
not really learning
plus she keeps losing the stylus pens

with the leapster the pen is on a string

i am getting first winter bits for dds first week i aug

did do well with ebay bits only sold each thing for £5
have ut quinny on so will hpefully do better

tinktellyaddict · 28/07/2010 16:45

i have got most xmas bits for dd2 not for dd1 yet getting them in sept

dd2 getting for xmas - mega bloks piano, little people bus and some other small things

dd1 i am getting elc projector, fabolous fairies and an i pet

cantmummyhaveabreak · 28/07/2010 17:02

DS had the leapster 2, got for xmas last year, but he really doesn't play it. have the console, but have never used it!!

have you a link to your quinny tink?

sorky · 28/07/2010 17:14

We've had the leapster, but kids found it a bit boring. I think we gave them away in the end.

I'll let you know what the coat is like tomorrow Can't

Dd2 was given a couple of peppa pig toys recently and has carried them around talking to them. Might get a couple of the playsets for Christmas.

Does anyone else have them? Are they worth it?

tinktellyaddict · 28/07/2010 18:27

Diege · 28/07/2010 18:31

SORKY we have the peppa pig school room and it kept dd3 entertained for ages- def worth buying IMO

cantmummyhaveabreak · 28/07/2010 20:00

Sorky- we had the playground, the car and the train... didn't stand up to my standards personally... the tree's on the playground were broken within a week or so, the base off the car fell off after only a few weeks, but the train wasn't so bad... think my 2 older ones are rough with toys though... so will depend on how your older DC's are i think!!

looking forward to your coat review too!!

DH has got some good news that we've been waiting for for a while.... he didn't get the head office job he applied for, so no move... but he's got the Blackpool store now!! WUHOO!! only 10mins drive away from home rather than the current 45-60min drive.... also means we save a packet on fuel costs so although he doesn't actually get a pay rise it'll feel like it with the extra cash!! I'm so happy!!

sorky · 28/07/2010 20:04

That's fantastic news Can't you must be thrilled!!

Congratulations to him, you'll have to celebrate. Petrol costs stiff us too. If only the public transport was decent, eh?

Dh has just measured the garden area for the chickens and agrees the chicken house is cushty-lush
What do you think?

cantmummyhaveabreak · 28/07/2010 20:30

Thanks!! Think we'll be celebrating once payday comes... we might go out for lunch on friday while mum has the kids for us!!

Loving the chicken house!! I just wish we could have chickens- always something i've wanted!!

Starshinetiger · 29/07/2010 09:20

All this shopping talk - you are all mega-organised with buying autumn/winter clothes already - is there something I should know about? Do I need to buy now or it will all be sold out or something? Have been fortunate enough to get bagfuls of hand-me-downs for DS over last couple of years (and have plenty for this year) from my cousin, so I'm now entering this territory for the first time with DD and thinking I need to get her 18-24 month wardrobe sorted from Septemberish. Think I might need to browse the Next catalogue this evening

Can't - yay to DH's new job. That is fantastic news - shorter commute can have a huge impact on your life (says she with a 50-60 min commute each day - I know many of you have much worse commutes). Ah well, 2 more years of 3 days a week and I should be able to make a change . Hope you do get a chance to have lunch out on Friday and yay to your Mum for having the DC overnight - how lush for you!

Sorky - chickencoop looks great. Wish we had a garden big enough for anything - would like toys for DC and a chicken coop (although where you find the time to look after chooks with having 4 DC, working and home-eding I have no idea!).

Right, am in work, so should be working, but struggling to get started today - seem to have a fog where my brain is!

tinktellyaddict · 29/07/2010 09:22
