Ooooh, UK Kids Ugg Boots site duly added to favourites - am sensing I will be getting DD a pair in autumn

Also, loving the coat links Cant - need to browse this weekend!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 29/07/2010 09:36

Star- i find that the weather turns so fast then i realise i have nothing suitable to last a full week of outfits and end up just running out and buying what i can find... whereas if i buy in dribs and drabs through the summer, mostly i normally buy in the next size too to last the winter, then i always have enough to cope when it starts getting cold, but i'm not the sort who actually stops shopping .... And now the older DC's are at school i like to have their winter coats all ready for when they return in sept as it's normally cold by then. Think i'll buy most of my winter bits for them over this month and next month... tho i do have a very good charity shop where i enjoy having a browse every now and again when passing... they normally get some very good donations and i've been known to find many next, gap, elle and monsoon outfits and they can cost anything like £1 an outfit!! and i dont mind carboots either for a bargain buy. So between them and my Next addiction, it normally fills their wardrobe very nicely!!

I'm not feeling too good today. was sick as a dog on tuesday... then yesterday i felt better, but then come 3ish i was really starting to go downhill and by 5 i was being sick again. Have been awake since about 2am just feeling super sick... however- on the positive side, i do look super slim, so the lack of food isn't all bad!!

Starshinetiger · 29/07/2010 13:34

Think it's a good strategy Cant - I just need to get more organised. Sorry you are feeling so ill. Bugs seem to hang around so long these days - I had a sickness bug a few months ago and it was at least 5-7 days before I started to feel normal again. Hope you start to feel better soon.

Good tip re. charity shops - need to have a browse of our local ones and get myself to an NCT Nearly New Sale I think.

sorky · 29/07/2010 13:59

Star I have learned the hard way to buy as soon as the Season's clothes are available. Everytime I left the A/W clothes until October-ish, the stuff I wanted wasn't available.
Boden is the absolute worst for this I find.

Can't the Next order arrived today, but the coat wasn't there. When I looked online at my account it wasn't there either, but I definitely ordered it

The Next stuff for dd2 is gorgeous, I'll keep all of it

I'm not sure what to do with the boys for clothes. Are you all mostly Next-ing for your boys?

Starshinetiger · 29/07/2010 14:16

I would be doing mix of Next, H&M and possibly M&S for DS if I didn't have a bagful of handmedowns (I am very lucky, I know). But, what is it with H&M and needing to have skull & crossbones over loads of their boys clothing? AIBU in thinking it's not entirely appropriate for young boys, but guess they are just thinking pirate theme?

tinktellyaddict · 29/07/2010 14:45

i am buying dds winter clothes in aug
like u say cant weather can change suddenly i luv to be organised

if i sell quinny

getting dd2 this seat
www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplayA_35_10751_-1_14633_30421_10001_14633#Revi ewHeader

her current booster seat is such a pain

wondering if it is worth getting dd1 one too as in our dining chairs she isnt quite big enough t reach the tables

she is tiny for age height - 95cms and weight 29 lbs

bought dd1 tights ready for school in next size and white polo shirts

Diege · 29/07/2010 15:38

I too like to get organised, mainly driven by fear that things will go out of stock (esp Boden, as SORKY says). I think I'll be doing H&M and Boden for ds (not mad about the Next stuff for boys - I like bright colours!) but as you say STAR avoiding anything with a skull on , v.odd and a bit yuck IMO. I actually got ds a sleeveless puffa jacket with babapapa on the front today from there, v.cute and trans-seasonal I do try and get coats and shoes sorted asap, and will be getting schools shoes (x3 ) sorted on our hols from the Whitby shop.
Better go and get ds - he's shut in dd3's bedroom playing with her disney wand but can hear him banging his head against the door in fury
Back later!
ps: bet you're gutted about the coast SORKY - what are the chances of that!

sorky · 29/07/2010 15:55

eh?!?

What's happened to it? Is it still there?

Diege I need help, I've been to Boden again!
Got some lovely things in for me. I normally wouldn't shop there for me, but this year some of the stuff is fab.

Think I may have to give my cards to Dh....

Diege · 29/07/2010 16:59

just seen my typo
Now SORKY, step away from the cards. You must have it bad if you've ventured into grown up lady land that is Proper Boden. I do have a pair of trousers or 2 from there, plus a kaftan, and a hoodie and I can see how an addiction can start...
Back from holiday splurge (£50 in Lush of all places and 'bits' for me from H&M (will I get the chance to wear a floaty white cotton dress of the east Coast of Yorkshire??

cantmummyhaveabreak · 29/07/2010 17:28

Sorky- what a shame for the coat- i'd chase it up and see if you've been charged.... maybe it was out of stock and they just automatically removed from your basket? in that case i'm worried i'll not get the sizes i need.....

We've just done the weekend/holiday shoes a couple of weeks ago, but need school shoes which i'll take them to clarks the week before they go back and they can just have whatever is nice that's in stock in their size. However they both outgrew their shoes at easter... and if they're still that size i'm wondering if they'd polish up well enough to send them to school in come sept... but i'd also feel bad not sending them in all new uniform....

Diege- if it's cooler i'm sure you could wear with some leggings and a cardi??

Boys clothes... well i do buy mostly from Next & debenhams for DS, but i also found BHS & M&S ok last year for him too, maybe the odd pair of pants from H&M... BUT he's very into his character tops... so if it's not plain-ish l/s tops from next it's character tops (ben 10, super mario etc)... trousers, i love next for jeans, and DS just loves joggers for round the house, be it casual pants or actual soft cotton- jumper material pants. he loves the feeling of 'being lazy' and lounging in them!! wonder where he gets that from!! I have about 7 pairs of joggers... wear them on weekdays really as they're much comfier for doing the housework etc in... but feel scruffy doing the school run in them so have been known to change!!

Had a nap- but took ages to get to sleep- it's odd without the kids here- strange making just one lunch, strange getting just myself a drink... strange not having the noise... dont think i've actually spoken for over 5 hours... might have said 'move, you silly cat' but thats about it!!

essenceofSES · 29/07/2010 22:27

Hello! Just a quick check-in

Sorry, I just don't seem to get much chance to get on at the moment.

Smithy - was it the MRI today? Hope all went well.

Can't - great news about your DH's job

Sorky - chicken coop looks good. DH is tempted by keeping chickens. I'm yet to be convinced so I'll expect updates from you!

shopping - Put me to shame! I've not thought about O's autumn wardrobe yet! I still need to buy him an outfit for my brother's wedding at the beginning of September too!

ttc - just coming up to ov but (for the first time in ages!) I'm out on a girls night tomorrow night (post natal group) and err... I'm out again Saturday night for a girls night with NCT friends! I guess we'll have to hope Sunday isn't too late!

Hello everyone else - tink, Diege, Gruff, Giraffe, Bumps, Moosy, Star, LBOT, MMM and anyone else lurking!

Right off to bed! Sleep well everyone

smithylovesme · 29/07/2010 23:55

Wrote a long message and that it disappeared
Hi everyone, all the shopping talk has got me very envious can't wait to get back to Next and clarks and h&m etc

MRI was fine, i had to go in the tunnel with him which i didn't enjoy very claustrophobic but DS did well lay still. Go back Monday for the results.

SES- good luck for the GOF this weekend

Rugbylovingmum · 30/07/2010 08:25

Morning all,

smithy - glad the mri went well

ses - good luck with fitting a GOF in around your exciting social life , you'll just have to make the most of his naps!

Cant/diege/sorky - between the three of you you should be able to give the economy a great boost .

Thank god it's the weekend, I am seriously BORED at work. I am really starting to think about leaving once I have worked long enough to keep my maternity pay. It just depends whether I can find something else. There are some great pro's to my job - it is really flexible and as long as I do my hours I can come in and leave when it suits me, it's really close to home and the nursery and I have a 2 year contract BUT I'm achieving nothing (my boss is so cautious about what we do we are basically doing nothing) and I feel as though I am just wasting every hour I spend here which is starting to really get to me. I've arranged a meeting with my boss next week so wish me luck I can sort something out before I go totally crazy!

tinktellyaddict · 30/07/2010 09:43

morning

stripping off wallpaper in extension today

dh and dd1 have left for hull to see his parents back wed eve

my mum is staying over till then putting up wallpaper tom

Diege · 30/07/2010 12:12

Morning! Probably last time I'll be on here before hols, so just booking in my annual leave card
Rugby I think a meeting with the boss is a good idea.Is it just your role that's unfulfilling, or do other people feel the same? Maybe take along some ideas yourself about where things might go in terms of your future role, so they can see you've really thought about it?
Tinks good luck with the wallpaer stripping.I HATE that job!
SES, good luck with Sunday .You never know, it may be the day...at least you've got the ball rolling now,so much better situation that May. I too am very reluctant to keep chickens (we have the perfect garden and dh is keen, but I'm just thinking of the work...) I dolike the idea of the eggs though!
STAR,I'm sure all will be well with the scan - not too long to wait till the results - did they give you any indication when you were there?
I have a clothing dilemma.Had a sneaky look at the Boden website last night, and am thinking about sizing for ds. He is in age 18-24ths at the moment, though some room left in these (ie, I need to fold the sleeves over on long-sleeved Ts) but trousers spot on (big bottom). The next size up is age 2-3 which will surely be too big?Don't want to buy 18-24 mths and have him grown out of it by xmas (like last yr when I ended up getting 2 batches from there - 6-12, 12-18) to get throguh the winter. Any ideas?

tinktellyaddict · 30/07/2010 15:09

hi diege - have a fab time

well i have taken paper off of one big wall and leaving it there!! aching
i dont mind it but takes ages and messy
will do more with parents tom
so chuffed finally recieved cheque for old phone i sent off
and quinny on ebay has watchers runs out this time tomorrow crossing fingers

right diege regarding boden what i would do is order a pair of trousers from them in age 18 - 24 mnths and 2-3 years and do the same with a long sleeved top then see how they fit send back one size dpeneding which fits best

Diege · 30/07/2010 16:13

You speak sense TINKS re: buying in 2 sizes . I suppose I am trying to look into a crystal ball and predict how ds will grow! 18-24 pants will I know fit perfectly now,so there's my answer I suppose (buy 2-3 for winter) - tops he may get away with 18-24! Yes, will do that I think
Throwing it down here - hope it's not like that in Yorks

cantmummyhaveabreak · 30/07/2010 21:28

Evening. had a good day shopping with DH today, he got me a nice pub lunch while we were out too- and took me to next too so i indulged in my addiction and got 2 enormous bags full of stuff!!

sorky- the lime coat is all out of stock till the 2nd week of aug- tried to order but couldn't till then!! i'm really angry now as i knew i should have got it last month when i first saw it!! I was recommended to keep an eye online from about the 7th for when it was back in stock....

tinktellyaddict · 31/07/2010 09:03

morning

parents over today lots more paper to strip off!!

boden is free returns isnt it i know sending back stuff is a pain as u have to go to a post office

cant - what a pain about the coat hate it when that happens!!

bles so cute dd2 has just learnt to do a buzzing sound for a bee

sorky · 31/07/2010 10:25

Eh? How can it have sold out Can't, the catalogue was only released a couple of weeks ago
How infuriating

Hmm, what to do? I really like the Boden duffle for her. But it looks a bit flimsy for a Winter coat, pricey too by the look of the fabric... might check out Debenhams.

Hope the weather stays fine for you Diege. Dd1's Boden order arrived (in part) yesterday. She loved the pink camo combats, purple dalmation-spot velvet trews, grey longline cardi, and got the purple checked shirt and blue spot top. Matches with nothing, so she's obviously happy

Enjoy your weekend activities girls!

tinktellyaddict · 01/08/2010 12:11

sorky - glad she like boden bits

stripped off all paper yesterday
enjoyed and indian takeaway in the evening
my mum and dad were both over
today doing gloss and filling

sold quinny

very dark here today!!!

essenceofSES · 01/08/2010 19:47

Hello all!

Just about to have our evening meal - chicken salad and jacket potato. We're using home grown lettuce for the first time

Teething central here but he's asleep now (having refused to nap all day!) so fingers crossed he has a good night. Especially as DH and I are planning a GOF (after watching Sherlock)

Tink - sounds like you've had a busy weekend! Enjoy your take away.

Diege - hope you're all enjoying your hols!

Rugby - work sounds frustrating. Hope your meeting goes well this week.

Work have agreed to provide me with a fleet car as I'm doing so many miles. (5000 since April!) I'm getting a Toyota Prius hybrid. It won't be with me until October though so they're giving me a hire car until then. A Ford Focus turned up yesterday which is fine but I'm amazed it doesn't have isofix points for DS's car seat! AIBU to expect all new cars to have isofix??!

Hope you've all had good weekends.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 01/08/2010 20:57

evening- bit tipsy- had the biggest 'half a bottle' of wine ever!!

DH is at footy, and i've just had the munchies so much that i've eaten my way thru the best part of a massive bag of S&V sticks!!

now super full!!

Went to Camelot with a massive group of us, my gang, MMM & her DS, my parents, my surrogate friends & my cousin, his mrs and their 2 DC's!!

Getting excited and a tad nervous as we start ttc from tuesday!! Argh!!

Starshinetiger · 02/08/2010 20:15

Gosh it's quiet on here with Diege on hols and Tink busy decorating

I'm sat in DD's doorway on my phone - my new position for getting her to go to sleep!

Thanks for the encouragement girls - got my Next order in now and collect it from store on Sat. Then yesterday (after I had ordered, my neighbour brought me some handmedowns round - very kind of her, so not sure I can justify the Next expenditure now ). Ah well the clothes are on their 3rd or 4th child with DD so will prolly be great for nursery clothes.
Bummer about lime coat Cant. Glad your DH had a good bday and sounds like you had a good day yesterday. Fingers crossed for tomorrow for you. Might send you a note on FB on that subject if you don't mind.
Ses - sorry for teething troubles. Hope is passing quickly. Extension is looking good. Fingers crossed for you with TTCing.
Rugby - glad house move went well. Sorry for job boredom. Hopethings improve if you get a chance to talk to your boss.
Diege - hope you're having good hols - tho expect you are not Reading while you're away. Your coats/coast typo did make me chuckle.
[waves] to Gruff, Gyo, Tink, MMM, Smithy, Bumps, Moos and anyone else I've missed.
