Enjoying my start of Mondays off with the children (somehow seems better than Fridays, as have had the weekend to enjoy and now an extra day - soon to be two extra days ). DH has just got home from work and taken them over to the park, so I can have a bit of peace and quiet - he is lush

DD was ill here too Sat night Can't - just about getting through the extra washing now. 1st time through either of them that we were woken up by choking sound as she was being sick in her cot (it woke her up too) and then she was awake every 45 mins after that through 'til 6am with wretching poor thing. I was a zombie yesterday, even though I took her into DH at 6.10am and went back to bed for 2hours, while she at only 16 months managed to sprawl herself across our double, so poor DH couldn't get anymore sleep - must take after her father At least had the foresight to take the spare mattress out of DS' room into DD's room when she was first sick, so I have slept in with her last two nights so me dumping her on DH at 6 was not entirely selfish, as he had been able to sleep while I dealt with her.

MMM - lovely that DS enjoyed Toy Story2. We had Toy Story on here after lunch for DS today. He too will sit through a whole film now (whereas DD won't sit still for 10 mins, let alone the rest), so DH and I are going to fight it out for who gets to take him to Toy Story 3

Ugh to bins Can't and Tink - am waiting for that with ours now this week, as we have put broken gazebo in ours, which means lid won't shut.

Ah well, best go get dinner prepped and washing hung. On a random note, we had a company ring up today to say they would clean carpets in two rooms for £8.99, so I said yes (thinking will get DC's rooms done - all downstairs is not carpeted) - am wondering what the con is going to be?!

LaTour - good to see you back here. Wasn't sure whether to post that on your FB or not, hope it wasn't the wrong thing to do. DSs sounds like they are doing great. Glad you are looking forward to going back to work, I am sure they will be fine settling into nursery. Mine were the same - DS had been at a childminder before I had DD. I was worried about DD, as she was very attached to me, but she settled in better than DS (think it was because he was the oldest in nursery that he struggled a bit more), but he loves it now and is really close buddies with two of the children in particular there (and we have a list of 12 children across there and the pre-school bit that they have said he is close friends with, to invite to his bday party ). Right, chores must be done - can't take the mick out of DH taking the DC out

Semi-lazy day here today. Made them do Grammar and Science...bummed the rest

I'e got a dilemma. Today Dd1 ventured out of the street with her best friend (also 8yo). Ds1 snitched on her.

I'm thinking of allowing her to go further, need to discuss it with Dh first. She's pretty sensible, knows not to cross the main road and talk to strangers blah, blah.

Ds1 will be staying in the street until he's 34

My only concern is calling for her to come back for lunch. If she's any distance she won't hear me. Then I'll panic..

Has anyone given their eldest mobiles for this purpose. If I get her one it'll only be for when she's out. Can you get them so basic without any gubbins?

When did you let your older Dc's venture further away?

When I was 8 my mother had no clue where I was for most of the day!!

maxxymoosmummy · 26/07/2010 18:20

yay ive finally got a lil man who likes his baths again :D so happy no more torture. took a long time but weve over come it. and he now loves it. didnt want to get out

GruffaloSoldier · 26/07/2010 20:46

Evening all!

First day of hols went well here - DM and step dad been here, step dad helping DH finish the flat so we can get it valued so me, DM and GC went out and about did some shopping etc. Had a take away curry last night (their treat). Was a good couple of days. DM bought some things for GC.

Oh and AF turned up Sunday so we are now discussing whether we are going to continue TTCing or whether we are going to take a break for a while. With new job and moving house we have a lot going on!

La Tour - nice to see you back here. Im sure DCs will be fine with starting nursery. However I share your anxiety as GC will be starting in October.

Tink/Cant Lazy days sound good!

MMM - Great news about the bath!

Sorky - I would def give her a phone. A girl I know was quite young and used to have a phone when she went out on her horse. Its a safety thing - I think if it puts your mind at rest then why not?

Star/Cant - sorry for sick Dcs!

Hello to anyone Ive missed!

essenceofSES · 26/07/2010 21:04

Hello!

LaTour - good to "see" you

Gruff - sounds like a fab start to the hols! How is your mum doing? You do have a lot going on - how is the job?

MMM - great that DS likes his baths again! Was it anything in particular that helped or do you think it was "just a phase"?

Sorky - I think I'd also give her a pay as you go mobile. It's great that she can have a little adventure and independence but you do want to be able to get hold of her if you need to!

Star - 2 carpets for £8.99??! Sounds v good! Hope DD is recovered now.

Cant - hope you have a healthy household too for the remainder of the summer hols. Good luck with the surrogacy this month!
Did you get your PJ day?

Hello tink, Diege, Giraffe and anyone else I've missed!

maxxymoosmummy · 26/07/2010 21:43

SES i really am unsure, he hated baths still the last time he had one at home ( thursday night ) after him not liking them he started having them every other night, unless needed more. then saturday he got muddy and covered in sand at my cousins, so M and my cousins little boy both had a bath together, and after 10 seconds of crying he was fine and splashing about so was good, then came to bath him today and he was saying 'ole ole ole' which is my little cousin who he shared a bath with, so i just replied with 'yes you did have a bath with ole didnt you like a big clever boy' as i was lifting him in, and he loved it as i said he didnt want to get out so happy its all over with now though. was tough but weve came through the other side.

Rugbylovingmum · 27/07/2010 11:45

Morning all, sorry but no time to catch up yet. Just a quick call for help from the londoners.

DP and I are going to see the Red Bull X Fighters at Battersea Power Station on 14th August (bleugh - was hoping DP would go with his brother but he is away so DP wants me to come). It is on fairly late and we want to book a hotel we can walk back to afterwards. I'm having problems finding anywhere very close by, mostly because you can't use 'battersea' or 'wandsworth' to filter the results on most sites and I have no sense of geography so I can't work out which areas to search in. Where should we look for reasonably cheap hotels that are within walking distance (or quick and easy to get to on the underground) and okay to walk to after 10pm. I don't know London at all and always seem to book somewhere that I think is a ten minute walk but is actually a good hours hike away or I need to change underground lines 3 times or they are slightly scary to walk to after dark . I should probably stop booking those dirt cheap hotels !.

Thanks!

Diege · 27/07/2010 18:49

Hi RUGBY! No advice here as I'm as bad(ended up in Canary Wharf the other weekend )but I'm sure someone will be along soon who knows . Intrigued by this Red Bull-fighters business - dare you elaborate?
Well dd1 had a great day, we're all whacked, and apart from ds screeching Nandos down all passed relatively well Looking forward to relative peace with ds and dd3 in nursery tomorrow, so that I can try to get some work done and also go to physio. Have ds's MMR for tomorrow, after GP mess-uplast week, then count down for Whitby!

sorky · 27/07/2010 18:52

Done Diege

Busy day at work, it's a huge round trip to drop the kids off at my mothers and get to work. Takes 1.5 hours, then same again afterwards sigh

Dh bringing Chinese in for tea, yum!

No idea about hotels Rugby, I'm afraid, can recommend a Travelodge though if there is one. Usually basic but cheap.

The one we used on Kew Bridge was in a rough area though. Dh not happy at the thought there might not be a car there in the morning

Hope you have a lovely time

Smithy!! Just catching up and saw your posts how lovely you're returning home. Good luck with the van sale.

Speak soon, more time tomorrow x

sorky · 27/07/2010 18:58

Theres a place called Melita House Hotel which is 1.5 miles away. £140 for the night.

Rugbylovingmum · 27/07/2010 20:27

Thanks Sorky, I'll check those out.

Diege - its really not that exciting, well DP is excited but I'm a bit . Its a motocross freestyle competition/show here. I'm a bit worried DP will come home and want to try some of the stunts on his motorbike.

smithylovesme · 28/07/2010 05:48

Hi Everyone,
So happy we sold the minivan for asking price, its gone and we have bought DH's ticket so no need to worry about the flight alone
DS's MRI is scheduled for Thursday at 10.15 then go back for the results on Monday. 5 weeks today and we will be nearly on homeland soil
Bedtime for me now, just wanted to let you all know. Busy clearing out house and keeping children occupied. Catch up with you all when i get 5 minutes.

Diege · 28/07/2010 09:23

Morning! Rugby think I would be a bit too, but new experiences and all that...
SORKY address in book; dds very excited (I think your ds2 will be getting one from my dd3 too, though they have agreed that X will 'have to wait' until J is older )
Smithy that's excellent news you must be so releived. I am sure the scan will be fine too. I was chatting to my mum yesterday about head related things (she used to work on a children's ward as a nurse)and she says that by this age anything 'sinister' would be manifesting itself in behaviour/development issues etc. Very noticeable and not something you have to 'work out' from centile charts etc.
Off for physio this afternoon on neck, and will also get some stuff from Lush for hols (a tradition now!).
BTW, is anyone in touch with KAT? Just wondering about a Whitby meet-up as we did last year?
Tinks have you had your new Next Directory yet? Some lovely girls' stuff in it
Hope all is well with everyone.

tinktellyaddict · 28/07/2010 09:34

sorky · 28/07/2010 10:18

Morning!

We got ours last week I think. Have yet to look, though I know it's not gonna be cheap because they all need stuff. The downside of 4 methinks. Have you ordered yet Tink?

I'm starting to collect for Christmas now, picking up bits here and there. I bet you've got a fair bit Tink have you?

Don't know why Rugby but your thingy you're going to made me think of Cage Fighting haha
Hope you have fun!

Great news on the van sale, hope the MRI goes well Smithy. 5weeks will fly by I reckon.

Morning to everyone else. Have a good time on hols Diege

I'm buying my chicken coop today woohoo!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 28/07/2010 10:30

Morning- Diege- Great news on the 28th- i will put it on the calendar. Still haven't managed to get to the post office as was very ill yesterday, still not feeling well enough for the hike up the hill today!! but will have it done by weekend at the latest. DS was getting his match attax doubles in a pile ready to bring for your dd1 to liverpool. Hope she had a lovely bday btw.

did get my PJ day, then an ill day so 2 in a row really.

DH's holidays start on friday!! Mum IS having all 3 DC's on thurs night and most friday. so we're going into blackpool to buy our tower tickets for next week. also got the car in the garage so dropping it off first thing, walking to town, and collecting it later before doing a food shop and collecting DC's. Then on sat it's DH's bday, so we're off to a maize maze with the DC's and our friends (who we're doing surrogacy with), ordering pizza hut sat night for DH's birthday tea, then at camelot on the sunday. then think we're at blackpool tower on either tues or thurs next week. again with same friends, doing our first insems on tues & thurs!! Then off to visit DH's mum & step-dad from fri-mon. got to put the kitten in a cattery for the first time.

hope hols are going smoothly for you all!

oh ps- sorky you can buy simple mobiles, (ask diege about hers ) they're about £10 in the supermarkets/phone shops.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 28/07/2010 10:41

sorky- how exciting about chicken coop- how many chicks you getting?... downside of 3 too clothes-wise!! i'm addicted to next and debenhams- and on the look-out for the new winter coats coming into the stores, have seen a lush one in next that i'd love for the girls, but am stuck between a few really. want matching coats for them!!

i like:
this

this

and this

all from next... not looked at debenhams coats yet- but off to look now.

very into this for DS.

I've started buying for xmas- got some stocking fillers from disney store, and picked up some bits in monsoon and debenhams for them all. thinking we're gonna buy DS & DD1 DS lites for xmas- but not sure if i think DD1 is still a bit young, she'll be nearly 5 at xmas, and although she does play on DS's old DS (that used to be DH's) she doesn't play it often... But she'd prob be into it before next xmas, and her bday is in april, so may aswell get it for xmas if i think she'll want it more before next xmas to save fighting over DS's... is that confusuing???

cantmummyhaveabreak · 28/07/2010 10:45

no coats on debenhams that take my fancy. want something that looks smart, but also casual, already have their school coats, so this coat will be their 'weekend' coat. might have another browse online... any reccomendations? dont wanna spend more than about £100 for the 3 of them...

cantmummyhaveabreak · 28/07/2010 10:51

anyone had the 'fleece lined anorak' from debenhams before- they do a coat in DD1's size, and a snowsuit in DD2's size in matching fabric... not keen on their boys coats though... have also looked on verbaudet but nothing takes my fancy...
