Welcome back Smithy - so sorry for your MC and that things didn't work out over there but glad for you that you are able to move back. From last time you were on here does sound like you weren't having a great time. Is your DD1 only 6/7 or so? 'Twas not so long ago there were reports saying that children shouldn't start active learning until they were 7, so I wouldn't worry about her having fallen behind. I think at primary school age, it's a lot about what you do with them at home, to help them start to enjoy learning isn't it? (not that either or mine are at school yet )

Saw the school uniforms in the supermarket this week and realised that if DS were born 10-14 days earlier, he'd have been starting school in September and I'm really sure that neither he or I would be ready for that right now! Did find myself writing Ben10 invitations to his party at 6.30am this morning though, as I realised that today was last day of nursery school and he wouldn't see his nursery school friends until a few days before his party now - obviously painting my toenails last night took precedence over thinking about that

Gruff - fingers crossed for you for testing this weekend.

Exciting that we have a few off the wagon now

Can't - your summer plans sound lovely. I got Toy Story 1 and 2 on DVD last week for DS (he is so tired at end of term that it is good to be able to get him to sit down for 1.5 hours to watch one). He loved them (I have yet to see them, as too busy running round after DD) and I reckon that he is now old enough to go to cinema so think DH and I will be fighting it out to be the one who gets to take him, rather than the one who has to stay at home

P.S. for anyone into their Disney/Pixar, DH tells me that HMV have all old Disney/Pixar films on sale for a £5 in promotion of Toy Story 3.

Starshinetiger · 22/07/2010 22:02

Sorry Diege - meant to say to you too - boo to being on 5th cycle, but it does seem to have flown by to me - rubbish comment really. Is not that long and you didn't really want any threat of morning sickness while you were on hols this summer did you? Boo to falling out with DH too - I find it hardest when we've both been flat out, expect you both felt you had exhausting weekends last weekend with 2DC each to look after and no-one to share it with and that doesn't help. at reminding yourself to be nice in the hope of GOFing Keeping fingers crossed for this cycle for you too.

Diege · 22/07/2010 22:20

I'll pencil it in CANT and confirm asap
Thanks STAR! I know that 5 months is nothing at all (it took that long for dd3) but combined with my age and my shortened cycles, just feeling a bit about it all. Of course I am incredibly blessed to have my 4 (most of the time )and as I've said before, this would reallt be the 'icing on the cake' baby - but just having the cake is great too I am glad that I had ds when I did though, just in case my eggs are on the turn . Thanks for the dvd tip-off too - we are big fans and may well have a look in HMV over the weekend
Dh out tonight and I've had a teeny bit of EWM, so time to be nice...I do feel I've overdone it with the marking on top of the usual slog, and think it will take me a few days to 'come down' from the frenzy of burning the candles at both ends. I can be a grump again in a week or so

smithylovesme · 22/07/2010 22:24

ahhhhh!
Google is my enemy, walk away from the search engine and stop making something out of nothing.
Just looking up DS head stuff! Why did i do that? He has a large fontanelle, not closed at all since birth probably like 2 fingers across and also rapidly increasing HC, gone from 45th Percentile at birth to 99th now. What have i found "Hydrocephalus".
Now i am worried about him and the flight and everything

Diege · 22/07/2010 22:52

SMITHY STOP GOOGLING!!!! Honestly, please don't start worrying about hydrocephalus of all things! It is very obvious in young children/babies - a little girl my sister used to help provide respite care for had it, and had a hugely swollen fontanelle and very obvious veins all over her head, and that was considered a mild/moderate case - it's something health professionals can usually spot straight away - I'm sure you would have been alerted to it by now if there was a problem. Repeat after me, 'he's just got a big head!!!!'

smithylovesme · 22/07/2010 23:05

"he's just got a big head!!!" :0
Thanks that the kick up the arse i needed, i knew i was overeacting but couldn't help myself delving into google.its an addiction, i need help for

Diege · 23/07/2010 09:44

Good!!!! TBH you got me googling too , what with J being off the percetile chart for his head, and I was reassured by the very obvious signs that are hydrocephalus, even when mildly affected. How old is ds now?
Last day of term here and will be taking dds and ds to playbarn after school - not sure it's a great idea, but a friend who is going has persuaded me it Will Be Fine...
Hope everyone's ok and enjoying the lovely grey summer day

cantmummyhaveabreak · 23/07/2010 09:59

Morning diege, bit dull here too, and ds finishes at 2pm. We're just planning a wind-down afternoon with ice-cream and colouring.

Smithy- you know google is the devil with children and symptoms! God knows I googled enough about prem babies when I had my show, and I scared myself so much on percentages and potential problems, but she was fine. Then again with her developmental problems, and again she's proving to be fine! So listen to the nice lady, that is diege, and step away from the google!

tinktellyaddict · 23/07/2010 14:12

smithylovesme · 23/07/2010 15:54

Sorry for putting ideas in your head too Diege, i should just get a grip. Have too much time on my hands and the computer is my worst enemy at the moment.DS is 14 months (can't believe it)
DS up at 6.30 followed by the girls shortly afterwards, tired mummy. Doing a garage sale tomorrow and Sunday so two early starts then moving in with DH's grandma Sunday night.
We stupidly bought a minivan in April so are desperately trying to sell it now so we can buy DH's ticket. Me and the kids have ours but until the van sells we can't buy DH's!!!! Really don't want to do the flight on my own, now DS has found his feet he never wants to stay still and he is a screamer!!!!

GruffaloSoldier · 23/07/2010 22:12

Evening all!

Smithy I am another google addict!always googling I hope it didnt make you too worried and you get some reassurance soon.

Tink - shoppping sounds good!

The last day of term is very good for me as it means I have my DH home for six weeks as of now. GC is going to be so pleased But not as pleased as me

Hope all the summer hols get off to a good start!

We are quite busy here, trying to get the house ready for valuation for selling. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks. I cannot wait to move!

I am CD29 tomorrow and that is when AF usually turns up so I am expecting that to happen tomorrow. Have been feeling pre AF symptoms, cramps etc so we shall see! I have actually been thinking about putting TTc on hold for a while. We have a lot going on with moving and new job etc so we might do. Need to discuss it with DH though.

Hope everyone is enjoying their evenings! Ive just had some end of term green and blacks choc from DH and he is just making a cuppa so we are gonna have a chill before bed!

Diege · 23/07/2010 22:31

Ahh don't worry SMITHY, I am a certified google addict too - I was convinced I had ms last year (for about 3 weeks),and even started researching kidney dialysis when dd1 had her suspected kidney reflux . Hope you can get your van sold - that's quite some pressure! - do you have a timescale in mind to move back? Oh and ds is a terrible screamer too; I've never heard a baby like him for high pitched screeching! (Maybe it's their big heads )
GRUFF sounds like a very relaxed, chilled pre-hols evening.Good luck for tomorrow; you never know, the months I actually have been pregnant I never felt more that af was due.
Off to bed now - dh in a grump as I laughed (inadvertedly) when he stubbed his toe on the bathroom scales but we'd done the gof so don't care Night all!

smithylovesme · 24/07/2010 02:51

Diege you made me left about there big heads and screaming. But i definately know what you mean, very high pitched and loud, think he is trying to compete with the girls.
We are (me and the Children) flying back on August 31st, as i wanted to be back for them to start school.
Forgot who asked but DD1 has just turned 6, not too worried about her as she was quite advanced anyways, but DD2 just turned 4 has had no education, can just about count to ten, recognises the first letter of her name and that is about it. Worried about her as she has sensory issues and just a bit of an odd ball, not sure how she is going to handle school.
Good luck for tomorrow Gruff, will you be testing if no AF?
DH is outside cleaning the van ready for someone coming to view on Sunday, think i need to round the kids up for bath time
And i need to google twitching eye as i have had one for 2 days now and its annoying me

Rugbylovingmum · 24/07/2010 08:28

Morning all,

Smithy - good to 'see' you again, I think I joined the thread a little while before you moved. Sorry you have had a tough time and you haven't had much support.

Gruff - hurray for moving . We LOVE our new place even if we are utterly sick of unpacking . When are you testing - I have my fingers crossed for you too.

Diege - well done for getting the gof in before the grump . Fingers crossed this will be your month.

I've just escaped out from under the piles of unpacking for an hour while DD naps. She has been sleeping in until 6.30 for last few days when DP was getting up with her then woke at 5.30am this morning when it was my turn - grr.

I have stopped feeding C this week. She was starting to bite and fuss a lot and just didn't seem that interested - I know it was just a phase and I could have carried on but I was ready to stop and it seemed like a good time. I gave her a bottle on Wednesday night which she took without any fuss at all and she has been having formula in a cup in the morning and a bottle at night ever since. Apart from having sore boobs for a couple of days it was all very easy. My mum is so excited it means she can have DD to stay overnight now .

Right, back to the unpacking......

tinktellyaddict · 24/07/2010 08:53

morning

smithy good luck with van

essenceofSES · 24/07/2010 22:06

Just a quick one checking in!

Tink - sounds like you had a good day

Diege - hope DD3's nursery ceremony went well. What exactly did it entail?

Rugby - sounds like you've done what works for you and DD with the BFing and that she's switched pretty easily

Smithy - hope the minivan sells at a good price.

Gruff - are you testing?!

LBOT - hope you're lurking and will continue to hang out here again

Hello everyone else

LaTourEiffel · 24/07/2010 23:17

Hi all, sorry its been so long. Not really got any excuse, just that its so hard to get on in the day and catch up with you all!

DS1 and 2 both doing great, DS1 is now 3.7 and still toilet training . DS2 is doing good, still hitting development targets but having a little extra physio, not related to the HIE though. He's got weak tummy muscles and hernia, so working to tighten those up a bit. Also, he's got some problems with his hand but some massage should sort it out apparently. He'll be crawling soon, he's just started wriggling across the floor - mostly to get DS1's toys.

I'm starting back at work in a weeks time . The money has finally run out - I am looking forward to it, as will be going to work with / for DH. Its not his company but he needs an assistant and my career history fits perfectly.

Next week the boys have trial sessions at nursery - DS1 is moving because his current nursery doesn't do drop offs / pick ups at the primary school where he's going to do pre-school sessions from September. DS2 is obviously starting for the first time. I'm very nervous about it all and how they'll be affected. I know that sounds over-the-top, but DS1 has been at his current place since he was 9 months old and DS2 is very mummy-centric, far more than DS1 ever was.

I'm rambling, sorry (at least you know its really me ;-) (too many tipples this evening). Been following bits and pieces via FB, but I sometimes struggle to tally FB names with wagon names!

The new website looks delicious though!

Can anyone give me an update - I've missed too much.

tinktellyaddict · 25/07/2010 09:14

hi ses

Tink- yuk for bins- we got them the other week when it was super hot- not had them since, and never had them before- i was nearly sick!!

Latour- hello!!!! it has been too long!! there's a fair few ttc now- gruff, ses, diege... and me as of this current cycle (as a surrogate tho not for me)... sorry if i've missed any other ttc'ers. DS's sound well ... not a lot else happening here except a busy summer planned!!

have a PJ day planned if i can help it- DD was ill on sat, so still got back-logged washing so catching up on that this morning... then i've hoovered and tidied the hallway and dining room so far this morning. not sure what else i can be bothered doing... promised the kids a movie and duvet day... DH is working till his 2 wk holiday starts on friday. And as i'm super poor till payday i'm trying to do as much free stuff as possible to entertain them till friday!!

Think my mum's having them all thursday night tho... that'd be good- first time without any DC's since having DD2 17mths ago!! Looking forward to having a lie-in!!

tinktellyaddict · 26/07/2010 09:42
