Oh yeah, Artie was sucking his/her toes in our last scan!! Was ace.

I guess I'll find out tomorrow what position (s)he is in, so will have a bit more of a clue at what I am prodding. I does like prodding though, keeps me occupied for ages, that and watching my tummy twitch!

iggypiggy · 01/06/2010 10:17

Mine had hand in front of face on last pic - but has also had feet in front of face in earlier scans...

I have just found out that I have hyper mobile joints - and am therefore hyperflexible.. lucky me (or lucky bloke?!)

CurlyCasper · 01/06/2010 10:33

iggy bet he wishes he'd discovered that sooner

BabyCasp has been head down for several weeks (I've had enough checks to know!) despite spending the majority of my pregnancy head-up and surprising various medical professionals. She's moving loads at the moment, but it feels like there is hardly any room for her to do it - hence the extreme distortions in my bump, which has hardly grown over the last month. Mind you, my first set of stretch marks under the belly button, tell me a surge is happening.

My body has taken the start of maternity leave as a sign to shut down completely. I could sleep all day, every day and my pelvis is getting increasingly clicky and restrictive. I'm going to self refer back to the physio, but doubt they'll do more than try to get me on crutches, which will be a fat lot of use given my already buggered shoulders.

SFF texted from more that 900 miles away this morning - I am so jealous and missing him loads. But not as much as the poor dog is

SilverSky · 01/06/2010 10:53

I feel crap. Got dicky tum. Not sure if was takeout last night, tho was posh lush Thai number and maybe bit spicy and someone is objecting and knackering my digestion to shit. Literally. TMI? Sorry.

ski Husband has about a years exp in the saddle. Yesterday when hoss buggered off in canter Husband decided to try jockey position, survived came back to trot and walk. The sauntered over to me with the dog on his heels and asked should he sit or come out of the saddle to canter. Cos he can grip with his knees!!! Sheesh kebab. I told him to keep butt in plate til he can stop bobbling about!

Typical man is of the "can we gallop" today variety. He is riding again later in week but a walk only hack !

iggypiggy · 01/06/2010 11:00

casp Yes - I expect he does! Is cos I went to the osteopath on sat and we were talking and I said my yoga teacher had mentioned that I might be hyperflexible - and the osteo said 'oh yes you are - you always have been - is just even more so now' um, thanks for telling me

She said it will mean my pelvis and hips are more flexible than most peoples... who can say if this is a good thing for labour or not...

Sorry you shutting down - but perhaps is just cos you needed to - then you will have more energy in a few days when your body has had a proper rest?

skihorse · 01/06/2010 11:05

Silver Interesting! I told jailbait this morning about your husband's escapades and he wants to try a canter on Saturday - I know the perfect place - a short walk from the yard and a straight line AND a natural "stop". I thought he'd be better off standing up in the stirrups and grabbing some mane... if he sits down he'll get his nuts battered. iggy Any man-canter advice from your end?

curly you poor thing. Do not collect crutches but instead proceed straight to wheelchair?

iggy I'd have thought it would be a bloody brilliant thing for laying baybees!

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 01/06/2010 11:08

Morning ladies! Catch up properly later, am covering colleague's work so might be quiet this week (trying to concentrate) - just wanted to say hello. Did anyone watch Child Of Our Time over the weekend? Is scary how much damage one can inflict on own kids, genetically & through nurturing. Argh!

iggypiggy · 01/06/2010 11:23

ski I don't really have much to add re: man canter - expcept an obsevation that pretty much all men get out of the saddle for canter unless they have ridden their whole life... guess the trick is to make sure their weight isn't too far forward - but expect would be more pleasant for horse and rider to get slightly out of saddle.. however as silver says - should really have arse in saddle if poss

When I learnt to ride my instructor made us only do sitting trot - to teach balance - then once that sorted, we could try rising (which was then easy) - but in hindsight - I feel sorry for the poor backs of the ponies... Having us bouncing around out of balance... so I tend to teach kids to rise asap.

ski I am hoping so... but osteo said it is what cuases my back probs - cos my hips do all the work cos they can - then my back locks up - so perhaps is iffy as to how useful!

CurlyCasper · 01/06/2010 11:46

iggy I agree with ski, that should be a huge bonus for the birth . I am having the same thoughts re rest - perhaps I just need some catch up time.

Have wimped out of calling physio until SFF is back - I can't exactly change my circumstances at the mo. The dog needs exercise! Granted, that currently involves short, slow, on-the-lead road walks, combined with lots of chasing sticks around the garden. She does the latter without much assistance TBH - thanks goodness for the new, big garden! And my bedroom and toilet are upstairs, everything else downstairs, so no chance of avoiding stairs either. I think I'll just have to be sensible and stop whinging!

I've decided to try to come up with some sort of schedule of small tasks etc to prevent me lounging around in bed/on the sofa all day, every day. Right now there is a mountain of clothes needing washed, dishes to be done, dog to be walked (that can wait until the rain eases) and general mess to be vamoosed. And that's without considering all the remaining unpacking. And the last bits of the day job I brought home. Mind you, if the computer keeps saying no on that front I may be returning said work to the office with notes on how it should be done and by when

Missed the programme VAG but might see if I can catch it on replay.

cunty are you there? Or has your maternity leave started with that holiday feeling (I hope so!)

Probably big xpost here cause my computer locked up. sorry.

Cosmosis · 01/06/2010 11:56

sitting trot with no stirrups is how we learned. Poor ponneez.

CurlyCasper · 01/06/2010 12:10

as one who used to molest ponies/hosses by clambering on bare-back at every opportunity (family stables) but never actually learned to ride, I have nothing constructive to add.

Thinking about it, I do now feel sorry for one particular big chestnut - but then again, his spine did cause much pain to my backside!

skihorse · 01/06/2010 12:11

curly Absolutely no bloody shame at all in putting a bucket downstairs should you just not be able to make it up the stairs for a piddle. We have buckets in various rooms as I'm prone to puking without enough time to get to the loo... As for doggy-walking, she'll be OK and yes, she'll be very pleased to have SFF back. My two have had a couple of verrrrrry slow strolls around the park with me - jailbait's much better - with him they get to chase squirrels & sticks. I'm just the boring old slow coach.

iggy is going to really just sneeze/fart and lay a baybee through her magic pelvis!

organiccarrotseedsareplanted · 01/06/2010 12:23

Still reading page 16/22 but just to say, cunty, my cousin raced go-karts against Jenson Button.

SilverSky · 01/06/2010 12:44

Hoss did have martingale on so Husband can hang on for dear life if need be.

Woz more worried that if out of saddle all weight would be in front and heavy putting nag on forehand but least neddy couldn't piss off or higher probability of Husband losing balance and self depositing. That's the theory and never known neddy to piss off but you never know. Hoss was very forgiving considering what he was having to put up with. Most annoying fing woz hoss put itself on bit without Husband even asking.

Going to have ryvita for lunch to see if that stays put. Cheese or no cheese?

Ps am enjoying t'other place btw.

skihorse · 01/06/2010 12:50

haha Silver

FannyPriceless · 01/06/2010 13:07

I am all a muddle as MrP took DD to hospital at 5am this morning! She has asthma and it got very bad in the night, so they have had to put her on a nebuliser (oxygen mask thingy with asthma meds). She is doing really well and apparently tearing around playing with all the toys on the children's ward. But MrP is SOOOO tired and we are wondering how on earth we'll cope with a newborn in a week. Defnitely can't have this baby until after Mum arrives. I'll give her 24 hours to get over the jet lag, then DD is her responsibility while we get some sleep and prepare for the bub-arrival. Luckily Mum is a nurse and has bags of stamina, so I think (hope) we'll be OK. I'm getting the feeling that having two of these creatures is going to be an interesting challenge.

cossie Don't worry too much about ugly baby syndrome. The thing with artichokes is if you don't like what you see, you can just peel off a few outer layers.

hossiegirls MrP has learnt to ride since meeting me. He's not bad and has even been known to keep his bum in the saddle at a canter. His confidence increased massively when we did this Free Rein trek together. We planned it about a year before hand and made it a goal that he would get himself good enough to sign the Declaration of Horsemanship that you have to before you can book the unguided treks, and he was brilliant. We used to have joint lessons together, then he found another riding school near his work and had lots of extra private ones too. We even once nearly bought a horse to share, a Cleveland Bay which he really fell for (and went better for him than for me - WTF?). I have lovely visions of family trekking holidays in the future.

CUNextTuesday · 01/06/2010 13:07

Hey curls bad news about mobility-mither. Rest, our kid, it's the only way.

Yes mat leave started today, was in work by 11.15 , just to take in Krispy Kremes which I failed to procure on Fri, and to send myself a report home as I still have some loose ends to tie up

OkieCokie · 01/06/2010 13:17

Silver definitely with cheese - ideally of the creamy variety so to avoid tasting like cardboard.

Moo I got Avent steriliser but bottles I use are these. IMO they are vv good. I used Avent too but I now only use these. I personally prefer microwave steriliser to plug in wall steam one.

Sheets yes, waterproof ones not entirely necessary til potty training but I do use them as good for protecting mattress from dribble, snot and vom. I didn't use waterproof ones in pram. I am around on Sat for mini meet .

skihorse · 01/06/2010 13:17

fanny "having two or three" - pleaze to tell us you haz been hiding sumfink? Am very impressed with Mr Fanny's riding technique - jailbait is brilliant around the yard - he's so good with them, can put a headcollar on the right way up and can now catch the most difficult horse. He uses a bumbling technique whereby he offers a pony-nut, then drops one on the floor - they lower their head to pick it up and he lassoos them - ha! Caught!

I haz just sent mercenary email to work-PESH (42 years old on number 5. Started breeding approx. 6 years ago) to ask her about maternity leave rights here in NL. I don't want to fuck about with number 2. If I don't think about the first few months then I'm quite enjoying pregnancy!

skihorse · 01/06/2010 13:19

okie I got the microwave steriliser too - a tenner in Asda. Only just fits in the microwave - but 'tis ideal for travelling/on the road - no fucking around with adaptor plugs and it's got to be easy. Throw it in, press "nuke".

CUNextTuesday · 01/06/2010 13:19

In case this is your dilemma:

don't read DM honest

OkieCokie · 01/06/2010 13:20

Reggie how are you??? You are all quiet. "are you there??!". If that is where you are hiding then please have some of brie, stilton and this rather large bottle of vodka.

OkieCokie · 01/06/2010 13:24

Anyone got that link for cheap good value Hot Milk over the shoulder boulder holders?

FannyPriceless · 01/06/2010 13:27

No ski! Not "two or three" you menkul. I said "two of these". That's it. End of. Snip-snip scissors for MrP await.

skihorse · 01/06/2010 13:28

www.nursingbra-shop.co.uk/ okie I have used these people and been very happy with them.
