ur a star xxx

bigbumpbonnie - i have had a c-section and am about to have another one and i would have to disagree with you on the "no pain" front!!! Maybe not the 24 hours of panting, but afterwards it was horrendous last time. when you have a general they have to let you come round completely before they can give you any pain relief so about 2 hours after a bloke with a knife has been experimenting on you, you wake up and it hits you like a massive truck. fortunately this time i am expecting a spinal block, so hopefully they will be able to turn up the morphine as they turn down the spinal block. here's hoping anyway. i certainly wouldn't be jealous of a planned c-section if i were you - i would like to have to choice... oh well!!

had my scan today to check on the placenta!
and everything's fine
placenta has moved up; bubs head is down; size is just below average; and it's still a girl

also now i have to make big decisions!
i said from the beginning i'd like to try for a vbac - but now i am getting scared

'aarrrggh' what to do? what to do?

jolovett · 09/08/2005 10:03

My sis-in-law had a baby girl yesterday morning!

She is gorgeous - can't believe that there is one of them inside me, ready to come out in a few weeks! Madness!

Off to visit them later and practise all the hugs and cooing - can't wait.

She spent most of yesterday telling me how much it hurt - dreading that bit - anyone else really scared of giving birth cos I am!!

Lexie100 · 09/08/2005 10:04

Got my scan soon too. Hopefully will have as good news.

vbac?

I am completely knackered. I have been sleeping really well and didn't do much yesterday and just feel exhausted. 9 more weeks to go. thankfully not the heat wave that was predicted as that would competely finish me off.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 09/08/2005 10:23

i know how you feel about the heat - dont think i could cope either.... 10 weeks left here, and god i cant wait! House move planned for when ill be 34 weeks - i must be mad! Moved when i was pg with Jess at 36 weeks...... must be something i need to do when im pg!

Joseyjo · 09/08/2005 12:13

lexie - vbac is vaginal birth after caesarean.

I am a bit scared of the labour thing but mostly just impatient for my little one to arrive.

I had a perfect birth experience last time which didn't even hurt but I did need stitches which is what I am frightened of this time. Does anyone know what exactly you are supposed to do when it comes to perenieal massage? I don't think I can reach anyway .

Elf1981 · 09/08/2005 12:52

Hi all,

Glad to hear you're all well. So, are we not expecting a heatwave then? I thought it was going to be at the end of August? I am keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't, as that would kill me off!

Have officially changed my maternity leave date, I now finish in the office on the 16th Sep for a weeks holiday, go in on the 26th for a half day and then have a few more days holiday and start my maternity leave offically on the 1st October. Feeling a bit more relaxed about it all TBH now.

V tired this week. I find Monday's are the worst, but put that down to the chilling out over the weekends and Monday's the first day back in the office!

Elf1981 · 09/08/2005 12:55

Oh, and we have brought the pram!!

Couldn't get the Loola that we'd wanted because despite being told a month before that it was suitable from birth, they pratically refused to sell it unless we brought the £200 carry section which is used for the first few months. Totally peeved because they'd said it was fine then changed their mind.

Ended up with a Mama and Papas pramette. It's very similar to the Loola, but a bit sturdier so suitable from birth. Turns from a pram to a pushchair and has the option of adding on the carseat. With the carseat and the changing bag and the footmuff mum insisted on buying us, it ended up costing nearly £500

But, it is going to last a long time, plus if we take care of it we can use it for baby no 2 when we decide to have them!!

nervousmum2be · 09/08/2005 13:39

According to our local weather report this morning, it's going to be 33 degrees on Friday, continuing over the weekend. Too hot for me, i think i'll move to Antarctica for the duration

Quick Q - had a weird twitchy hand thing earlier. Twas just in my right hand, and i could see the muscle in my thumb twitching, completely beyond my control. Not painful, lasted about 5 minutes. Anyone else had this?

alterego · 09/08/2005 13:40

Yes - but not when pregnant particularly. Don't know what causes it so not much help really

nervousmum2be · 09/08/2005 13:40

PS. Hope your gran is ok now Elf? (and indeed, all other MNetters with poorly relatives)

nervousmum2be · 09/08/2005 13:43

Thanks Alterego. General consensus here at work is that it could be a form of carpal tunnel syndrome (apparantly v common in late pregnancy), due to the extra compression.

alterego · 09/08/2005 16:03

Thats interesting. I've had the carpal tunnel thing mildly in previous pregnancies and it was just like pins & needles for me - perhaps the two symptoms (pins & needles /twitchy hands) are part of the same thing.

Moomin · 09/08/2005 20:12

triceratops - massaging of perenium - before i knew I was going to have c-sect with dd I did this. I used almond oil and I got dh to do it for me because you're tight - it's impossible to reach!

My brother has been released from hospital and flies home Monday with an escort. He's coming to stay here - talk about the blind leading the blind!

Moomin · 09/08/2005 20:12

tight?!!! I meant right

morningpaper · 09/08/2005 20:20

Now there's a Freudian slip...

I agree, I tried with the last pg and couldn't reach. I needed massive episitomy anyway.

triceratops · 10/08/2005 11:22

I'm going to buy the loola. I like the colour. I'm buying it from two left feet as they have a special offer including the creatis car seat which is the one I want after reading the which baby car seat report. I had a Graco last time because we didn't have much money (£150 still not cheap) but the wheels fell off after four months (probably done 100 miles or so, walking is the only thing that soothed his colic ) so not really a bargin at all.

I made our cosytoes last time. I had to really as ds has always been really long, the shop ones didn't fit after a few months. It cost £5 on fleecy fabric and about an hour cutting and stitching.

Elf1981 · 10/08/2005 12:49

nervousmum2be - my gran is still in hospital, she was supposed to come out last week but had a funny turn, so she's still in and they're doing further tests. Will keep you posted on what happens.

Getting fed up of not being able to sleep properly. I know I'm not going to be getting good quailty sleep when Boo arrives but I figured I'd get good sleep before. Not so! It's all tossing and turning, not getting comfortable, annoying DH and getting fed up. Grrr.

I'm 31 weeks today though! 9 weeks left til Due date!!

Hope you're all well,

Elf xxxx

Lexie100 · 10/08/2005 16:22

had a dream last night that i was giving birth! Luckily can't remember much of it. It's the first dream i have had about the baby. Actually getting quite anxious about how my world is about to be turned upside down in only 9 weeks.

Anyone else having baby dreams and anxious about coping with a new baby??

Piggiesmum · 10/08/2005 20:55

Elf - hope your gran is okay.

Hope everyone is okay - apart from the pregnancy related problems.

I seem to have hit the 3rd trimester with a vengence, hormones seem to have gone bonkers, am knackered but can't sleep, started feeling sick and dizzy if i stand up too quickly and can't wait to finish work. My boobs have never been so painful and the bump is aching like mad. His movements have changed. I hardly ever get single kicks concentrated in one spot anymore. Instead i get a full aerobic workout with what feels like full blown somersaults!! It's nice to know he's okay and active but I wish he didn't wait until bedtime before he starts

Can't believe it's getting so close!!!!

mawbroon · 10/08/2005 21:19

LOL at your acrobat Piggiesmum. That is exactly what has happened to me and it feels like big rumbles rather than kicks. DH was poking my bump last night however, and was greeted with a huge kick which we both thought meant "f off and stop prodding!!"

Lexie - I am quite the opposite. I feel very calm and genuinely believe "I can do it" however I know in most situations where I have cause to be anxious, it doesn't kick in until the last moment and comes as sheer panic, so I expect this will be the same. I really don't think that it has sunk into my brain that I am having baby.

Anyone else nesting? I cleaned the fridge and the oven this afternoon and have started cooking to fill the freezer. I've still got 11 weeks to go! The fridge and oven will be filthy again and all the food will have been eaten by the time I go into labour

SusiS · 11/08/2005 08:41

omg! i think i am getting old!!!
got 2 birthday cards through both with red roses motive
where are the times where i used to get funny ones!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 11/08/2005 08:49
