39 inch bump (I'm only 29 weeks though) and belly button still in the way but getting smaller and smaller each week!! I have a thing about my belly button and it will give me the heebie geebies if it pops.

Lexie100 · 12/08/2005 09:50

only 37 inches and 31 weeks today. Wasn't very big to begin with so hopefully nothing to worry about.

have horrible tooth ache. think i need antibiotics. Trying not to take too many paracetamol. Anyone know what is a safe limit and if antibiotics are ok?

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 12/08/2005 09:56

antibiotics can be ok if prescibed by doc

paracetemol - well i was drugged up on it for 2 weeks when i had my appendix out in may so assuming 2 every 4 hours as per normal is fine!

Lexie100 · 12/08/2005 10:36

thank you.

Off the blue water where my dentist is and will stock on on a few baby things at the same time to cheer myself up.

I guess being in pain is good practice for labour!!!

Joseyjo · 12/08/2005 12:13

just to join in - 32weeks, 42" and definitely a flatty!!! if i pull the skin slightly to either side then i can make it pop out but it also makes dh heave!!!!!
had another scan this morning and baby is still quite big. it kicked the sonographer and generally acted like a lout so that was normal. its new trick is to worm its feet up under my ribs and then kick.... oooowwwwwww!
i am now sleeping in short naps that leave me exhausted and got cramp last night that nearly had me in tears! tell me it is all worth it please as i am in danger of forgetting the point of all this and just sulking for the next 6,7,8 weeks!!!

also - has anyone bought a changing bag yet and if so what did you go for and why?

OP posts:
Piggiesmum · 12/08/2005 15:11

I just could resist checking

41" here, so next time some insensitive @r$e at work says "Oooooo you're getting big now" maybe I should just smile sweetly and admit defeat.

Hubby works away during the week and came home last night to tell me "blimey you've grown this week, are you sure you haven't swallowed a bowling ball!". Yeah thanks for that! (rolleyes emoticon). He then went on "How much longer have you got!!!. He's going to be a big one, and he's got to come out of such a tiny hole" At this point he made a quick exit before I threw something at his head. I'll get my revenge when I'm in labour and have his hands in a vice like grip.

Piggiesmum · 12/08/2005 15:13

Oh and bellybutton very nearly made it to outty status. It became a flatty about a week ago but has since gone in again slighty. I'm guessing it changes as baby's position changes ???

morningpaper · 12/08/2005 15:29

Josey I've got a changing bag which has a fold-out bit which makes a sort of changing mat. It was v. useful for when changing on dirty toilet floors.

You don't need pockets or anything really - all you need is wipes and nappies and plastic bags in there. I'd recommend Ebay - mine was about 7 quid from Ebay.

Actually this is the same as mine here on Ebay - 4 quid with no bids. I'd definitely get the same one again. It's really roomy AND it's plain blue - do NOT get a girlie looking one because you will want your DH to carry it as much as possible.

morningpaper · 12/08/2005 15:34

And importantly, there is a strap at the front so you can pull out the changing mat with one hand - you need to do this because while kneeling on a filthy floor you can't put baby down!

nervousmum2be · 12/08/2005 15:49

i got my changing bag from Mammas and Pappas in their recent sale. I agree about avoiding the girly bags - ours is a black rucksack-style bag with integral changing mat and various pockets for all those necessary bits and bobs, deliberately chosen so DP will carry it too (and he was with me in the shop when we chose it, so he's got no excuses).

I think i've confused Bab with my erratic sleeping pattern due to doing so many night shifts recently. He's not moved much today, but then i suppose i have only just got out of bed!

hester · 12/08/2005 21:28

Well, my mammoth 44 inches (at 30 weeks) is clearly covering a sturdy great babs (morningpaper, I don't drive - but you should see the room I take up on the tube ). I saw the midwife today and my fundal height is 33cm -funny because up till now it has been dead on average and suddenly it has ballooned to 3cm above. mw says if it goes up another cm I'll need a size scan. She reckons the baby will be over 8lb easily. When I looked dismayed she said bracingly, "You're tall, you can take it". Yes, I'm tall, but was hoping not to have my pelvic capacity stretched to its limit!

Anyway, my contribution to the great belly button discussion is that mine is still an innie but getting stretched wider and more shallow every day. The scar tissue on it (from previous laporoscopies) is quite painful...

Elf1981 · 12/08/2005 23:34

Had fun couple of days... not!

Went to the assessment unit on Thursday night for my second visit, Boo was having a really quiet day and I'd felt nothing since the kicks in my morning bath. Coupled with pain that felt like somebody was squeezing my stomach with a vice like grip, which was taking my breath away, I was worried something bad was going on.

Assessment was okay and they let me go home (good job, as they'd told me I might have to stay in and I was not looking forward to that!!). Said the pains were stretching pains. Now I'm petrified about the idea of contractions!!

Had to go back for a scan which I had today. Boo fine, they did measurements and checked blood flow through the cord and to the head. Boo still breech, one leg flexed, the other extended. V nice midwife did explain the community midwife would monitor position and I'd possibly be re-scanned at 37 weeks (ish) and then it Boo is still breech, it's mostly my decision to try for a vaginal birth or go for a section.

Just glad all is well to be honest. Still got the pains in my sides though, did try to rest but the nesting instinct has kicked in and I'm not able to fight the urge to pain the ceiling...

Elf1981 · 12/08/2005 23:36

Oh and my belly button is still an innie, despite me looking as big as a house (dont think there's a tape measure big enough to fit around me!) much to my DH's annoyance as he keeps checking everyday to see if it's going to pop!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 12/08/2005 23:39

Glad everything ok elf.... ive got to wait another few weeks to see if babe still breach - dreading it!

Lexie100 · 13/08/2005 10:08

Feel like sh*t today. Vey tired, weepy and fed up. Baby breech, low lying placenta, dead tooth so need root canal and DH playing cricket all day, fab support!

mawbroon · 13/08/2005 17:38

Oh dear Lexie. Tomorrow is another day. Hope you feel better soon.

nervousmum2be · 14/08/2005 12:10

Hope you're feeling better today Lexie.

Well, we've just finished painting one half of our living room, and i'm knackered! Who would have thought wielding a paint roller would be so tiring? Somehow, i can't see the rest of it getting done now till after Bab's born, but at least we've made a good start and i can have my new display cabinet.

Keep having a recurring dream i'm having twins. No evidence on any of my scans, so i hope it's not a premonition! Hope everyone else is having an ok weeksend. NM2B x

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 14/08/2005 12:27

Hi girls - hope you are all ok!

My birthday today so having a SOBER bbq - thankfully only a few spots of rain so far so hoping it holds off!

nervousmum2be · 14/08/2005 18:55

Happy Birthday J&BM

I hope the weather's been nicer for your BBQ than it has been down here (S E Kent) - it's been alternating between sunshine and piddling down all afternoon!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 14/08/2005 18:57

It wasnt too bad - a few spots on and off but mostly dry. Rerally enjoyed it and ate FAR too much cake but hey, nothing unusualy there!

Bump is driving me mad today..... mainly because i want a (alcoholic) drink!!!!

SusiS · 15/08/2005 08:57

woheyyy jm!!! HAPPY (belated) BIRHDAY!!!!
glad you had a good time!
and i am with you on having the 'odd' drink

mishmash2 · 15/08/2005 16:48

Morning ladies! Sorry I haven't been online for a while - absolutely manic at work. My replacement starts on Wed so handover begins and then leave a week on Thurs! Can't wait! Off to Devon for some R&R and then the shopping will begin!! Feel I have so much to buy but also am now getting so excited.

I measure 43" and am 32.5 weeks.... obviously one of the largest ladies around!!! I saw a midwife yesterday (friend of friend) and she checked the bump and I'm now in teh right position so let's hope it stays that way!

Happy b'day for yesterday JM - I'm hoping this bump comes before my b'day - (due day before) so at least I can drink!

Hope everyone else is feeling better - very quiet on the site today!

Elf1981 · 15/08/2005 17:06

It is quiet today!

Almost 32 weeks now - 8 weeks left if I go full term, less if I have to have a C-section. Oh lordy!

Got the pram coming in the beginning of Sept, ordering the furniture on Friday / Saturday which should come beginning of Sept too. Have painted Boo's room (just got to get boarder, and going to lay the floor this week) and cleared the room out, so feeling slightly better now that I'm a bit organised. Don't need to buy much now (most of the stuff is ordered and on it's way). Just got to ferry everything over from my mum and dad's where we've been storing it!

Hope all are well. Oh and happy belated birthday J&BM!!

Elf1981 · 15/08/2005 17:07

BTW - anybody know approx how early / close to the due date they do a planned C-section??
