Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
nervousmum2be · 14/09/2005 20:15

Hi, just to update you, the MW eventually came and checked me over. She said Boo's head is fully down in my pelvis now which is what was probably causing the contractions, and that it's just a 'matter of time now'(anything from days to a few weeks apparantly!!!) Not in established labour or anything yet, but i can expect contractions from pretty much now on, and obviuosly if anything changes ie my waters break or the contractions get stronger / more frequent, then i need to get to hospital ASAP so they can do my c-section.

Of course, as soon as she said all that, the contractions pretty much fizzled out altogether, and i've been feeling much better - typical

nervousmum2be · 14/09/2005 20:19

And i totally agree Morning Paper - i want Boo to be as fully cooked as possible (if i get any choice in the matter!), having seen what my poor friend has recently been through with her premmie Thankfully he's off the ventilator now, but will still need to be in hospital for the next few months

mawbroon · 14/09/2005 22:12

Agree with you all re the fully cooked baby! In fact, I almost want mine to go over a bit so that I have extra time to get organised! Ha ha listen to me - ask me about that again on my due date!!

My baby is still firmly head up after his acrobatics the other night. It was SOO uncomfortable when he was wedged in sideways, but he's going to have to do that again if he is going to turn head down.

We went to a "couples class" with the midwife tonight. TBH she didn't cover much that I hadn't read before (mostly on MN!!) but I learned that if your baby has sticky eyes that you can put some breast milk on it to help clear it up. Another thing she said was that you don't need any toiletries for the first while for the baby as their wee skins are too sensitive. One less thing to remember for the hospital bag then

LOL at the f* me shoes. I'm in the spare room as the bed's not big enough for me, all my pillows AND my DH!!

triceratops · 15/09/2005 09:29

My SIL just gave me the entire contents of her loft. So we can't even fit in our house anymore for vibrating bouncy chairs. I am going to have to stock up on batteries.

I want my baby to be full term but I also want it now. I am allowed to be contradictary I am gestating.

The roof is leaking again and I was woken by a drip over my bed this morning. My ds insists that he is a narwhale (it was a basking shark yesterday) and dh has just got a new commission which means paternity leave is right up the swanny. And I cant get a midwife appointment until October.

Apart from that I am feeling good today.

BigBumpBonnie · 15/09/2005 09:39

I'VE GOT THE WORST INSOMNIA I'VE EVER HAD!!! There, I feel like shouting about it as I am just so tired. Every night now I go to bed tired but know that sleep won't come. It's HORRIBLE. I've tried everything I can but nothing works. I was thinking to myself well at least I've only got a few weeks left then I can sleep.......doh, I'll have a newborn then so it'll be even less sleep for me! I don't think I'm going to get a decent night for at least another year I've got huge bags under my eyes (not that I care what I look like anymore) Thank goodness my little dd sleeps for a few hours in the afternoons so I can also try and nap. At least it's pouring with rain so I don't feel so bad about staying in today. I've been getting all sorts of pains and twinges and am sure I can feel that head back under my ribs but all will be revealed at tomorrows scan. I think my little one goes head down for my hospital appointments then pops back up again the next day!!

Redtartanlass, thanks for posting the piccies. Lovely family, and it's so nice to put a face to at least one name on here. Someone will have to start a stats table soon with babies born, dates, sex of baby etc. I know Joseyjo's great at stats....where are you??

Hope everyone else is ok and fastasleep, hope you get your toxic fanny sorted out soon xx

Redtartanlass · 15/09/2005 09:46

BBB ? know EXACTLY what you mean, so tired last night that I went to bed at 8pm, still awake at 2.00am!!! DS1 awake with stinky nappy at 4.30am! Up and ready to get to work drop 7.30am. Oh well at work now?..time to relax!!!

Fastasleep- you promised you were going to docs today, what time is appointment?

triceratops ? have being trying for last ½ hour to get midwife appoint, constantly engaged. Only seen a midwife 3 times!!!! Is that a record?

Glad you?re feeling better nm2b. has anyone packed a hospital bag yet??

Moomin · 15/09/2005 10:09

Hi all.
Redtartanlass - I LOVED your website! Fab piccies (and nice website design too!)
BBB - know what you mean about the insomnia. But it's a different kind of insomnia to when the baby's born. When the bab is here you'll have NO problems dropping off - you just keep being woken up so you're in a zombie state. Remembering last time, I actually prefer it to the horrible lack of sleep of late pregnancy because I feel so uncomfortable. At least when the baby's here you can cat nap at odd times of the day (child no.1 allowing!). I'm starting to thank my lucky stars it took us 2 yrs to conceive this one, so that dd is now 4 and in pre-school. I don't know how you others with toddlers are coping, I really don't. At least I can stick a dvd on for dd and she'll let me snooze.

Yes, fastasleep, let us know all the details about your appt (well, perhaps not all the details) but we need to know you're getting it sorted.

It's getting me down now all this tiredness and lack of good sleep. I'm having to sit down in between doing stupid little jobs like getting dd's breakfast or hanging a picture or sorting washing. I've got a friend coming later and she's actually bringing lunch as I can't face getting it ready for 2 adults and 2 children!! How rubbish is that?!

Jockey · 15/09/2005 10:29

I agree with you Triceratops. I want a lovely full term baby, but preferably NOW rather than October! We're allowed to make unreasonable demands!

Those that are sleep deprived - I totally sympathise. I'm getting so crabby with the children and then having a good cry afterwards as I hate myself for it. This is only because I'm tired. Was awake for 3 hours last night but am going to try and get someone to take ds2 so I can catch up - HEH - I'll be lucky! Have found it quite an emotional strain settling him into pre school - it's ME that's the problem, not him. Thank goodness we don't have to go today!

Apart from the sleep thing, am feeling quite well and really looking forward to meeting baby now.

Hope everyone's appointments go well.

morningpaper · 15/09/2005 11:01

I am also suffering from lack of sleep but that's because I REALLY don't want to have to give birth again and I keep lying awake worrying about it! GAH!

Must be getting near my due date - I've mopped the kitchen floor two days in a row...

YOKEFLEET · 15/09/2005 11:32

Redtartanlass - lovely pics!
Morningpaper - can you come and do my kitchen floor its a right state but I just don't have the energy!
I had my 37w mw appointment on Monday and she was a little concerned about my bp was 140/80 had previously been around 110/75, so she arranged for another mw to see me today to recheck it and its 120/80. Is that more normal?? I found today's mw just waffled on about the weather rather then putting my mind at rest etc.... she also has written in my notes that its a big baby on pal!! I can feel my bp soaring whilst I type this!!! She has also said relation to brim 4/5 but she told me that babe was back to back so try sitting up straight up (bolt) to get babe to turn and drop. Does this sound right or have I got it all mixed up?? My next scheduled visit to see mw is Monday, think I'll get my mum to come with me, then at least I have got someone else understanding what is said and asking all the right questions! I am starting to panic now

Lexie100 · 15/09/2005 11:51

You lot have had a busy week.

Cool idea about a website for us.

Can't sleep at all and weeing all the time. Started on the raspberry leaf tea, actually tastes ok!

Having a pregnancy massage next week, can't wait

BigBumpBonnie · 15/09/2005 12:01

Yokefleet, my dd1 was back to back and I spent the last week on all fours with my bum in the air whilst watching telly etc. and it worked, by the time i went into labour she was ok. It's caused by slumping apparantly (something I'm good at!) so sitting bolt upright on the edge of a chair is also good. A back to back labour can just be a bit longer and a bit more painful for your back I think. Good luckx

Redtartanlass · 15/09/2005 12:15

Mmmmmmm Pregnancy massage, sounds brilliant, but where does your bump go?Does the table have a hole in it? Where are you getting that done.

SusiS · 15/09/2005 13:39

lol you lot got really chatty lately

agree on the 'not sleeping' thingy!!! horrible, isn't it! wake up every other hour and have to turn around because everything's achy.
just imagine a whale huffing and puffing and slowly, very slowly turning over ...

saw mw today (38wk check) and everything's fine! not much room for her to grow anymore so she'll have to start slide down now! and mw reckons bubs won't stay put till the end - just her 'experience' she said

was booked in for a sweep on monday but going to cancel/postpone it.
because we'll have to go to mil's next week - our heating will get done finally!! and can't have ds running around in all that mess (he's 16 months) - and i agree on that too: have no idea how i manage to look after him! hard work!!

moomin i think it's a great idea to make someone else bring your dinner

fastasleep? have you seen a doc yet??????

mawbroon · 15/09/2005 13:52

Went to work today and told my boss that I didn't think I could work until the end of the month which is what I had previously said. So, with the holidays i had left, they agreed that I don't have to go back. I left at 1230 as I have an antenatal class this afternoon. I am relieved but also feel a bit guilty for not working as long as I said I would.

My baby did his lying sideways trick again last night. My DH was ROFL at the ridiculous shape that it made my bump. "Great" I thought. "The baby is going head down where he belongs" No such luck - his head is still bobbing around freely under my ribs. This is despite doing the leaning forward/all fours thing. I keep telling me that there is still plenty time yet.

Must dash. Don't want to be late for my class

Lexie100 · 15/09/2005 18:30

Pregnancy massage is by a qualified midwife who has done loads of research into massage in labour and found that it really helps with relaxation and speed of labour. I haven't had it done yet but will let you know all about it.

There really is no room left inside for baby to move so getting very painful when he/she wriggles. Talk about funny shaped tummies, mine is all over the place!

nervousmum2be · 15/09/2005 19:33

Ooh, i could do with a lovely relaxing massage about now! Still getting contractions on and off, got v stressed with DP earlier when he pointed out that yesterday's MW said i wasn't in labour. I KNOW THAT!!! Doesn't stop it feeling really uncomfortable though! (and the situation could have changed from yesterday, but thats beside the point!)

Also getting v stressed about the state of the house. If (big 'if'!) Boo stays put until my elective c-section on the 26th, that gives us 10 more days to:- put the new fireplace in; finish decorating the lounge (or at least disguising the bloody great hole in the wall with the CD rack until post bab!); finish plumbing in the new kitchen sink and dishwasher; finish fitting the new kitchen worktop; have new shower put in; put the upstairs landing carpet back down; and finish building the flatpack furnature. Oh yes, and rest up in preparation for my operation! No wonder i'm panicking!

nervousmum2be · 15/09/2005 19:34

And i forgot to mention, DP is still working full-time, so is 'fitting these jobs in' around his already-busy schedule! Sorry for my moans x

morningpaper · 15/09/2005 20:28

Ooh dear Nervousmum2be what a nightmare! Are you fourteen grandma's still booked in for when baby arrives? Are any of them any good at plumbing?!

Today I got the cot down from the attic and put it together - it took AGES so I'm glad I got it done. Little dd (3) watched me doing it while putting make-up on herself - so cute.

Am also having a new drive constructed which should take another week to complete, so have to keep my legs crossed until then at least...!

nervousmum2be · 15/09/2005 20:57

Oh yes, we're still expecting a house-full! Currently trying up a washing machine usage instruction sheet for DP for when i go into hospital, so my washing doesn't all turn out baby-gro size. Got to write a phone list next!

Elf1981 · 16/09/2005 08:14

Finished work yesterday. Work have been lovely over the past week or so when I've only managed 2 hours a day due to blood pressure. Took me out for dinner yesterday and brought lots of lovely pressies. Bless em.
First day off work today and was woken at 7:30 by Argos knocking on the door delivering the furniture. Cant wait for DH to get back so we can put it all up!
Midwife coming this afternoon to check my blood pressure so may have little sleep on the sofa this morning til she arrives.
Shall let you know what my blood pressure is!

Hope everybody is well and not in too much discomfort. I've got achy back and got a bad pain in my side today.

morningpaper · 16/09/2005 08:23

I'm busying myself with the drill-and-flatpack this morning... but it's only a Tiny Tears Bunk Bed for dd's third birthday so I should be able to manage it without a man's help...

triceratops · 16/09/2005 08:32

I've got ds booked in with SIL for next Tuesday so that I can go to IKEA for a last big spend.

I have nowhere to put all the baby clothes I have been given so they are all over the bedroom floor getting dripped on by my leaking roof. I need drawers!

When I had ds we were still renovating our house so we had no bath and no carpet. The whole place looked like a squat and it was freezing because the heating didn't work. I was looking at the videos the other day and I can't believe that we lived like that. It didn't bother me at all at the time though.

Redtartanlass · 16/09/2005 09:29

Hi all, sorry to hear about all your probs, but we're nearly there eh? I don't think lack of sleep helps one little bit. Went to bed about 8pm again last night but didn't get to sleep until about 2am!!! And then had a dream about giving birth to 10 2 oz baby girl who had 8 teeth!!!

HAs anyone heard from fastasleep and her docs appointment yesterday!

jai38 · 16/09/2005 09:53

Am in agreement with everyone want this over with now - last night was my most uncomfortable night yet ever. Am still working so we resolved the situation by DH sleeping on safa which I think might be the arrangement till drop date now much as I hate the idea. But he looks much better this morning as well so maybe the only way forward

due to appointment clashes now don't have another midewife appointment to 37 weeks (am 34 at the moment) -worrys me slightly for first baby but they just said ring if there is a problem!!

Good luck with everyone's flat pack and shopping. I am going to try shoppoing tomorrow afternoon but the last two weekends this has been the plan and have slept all of sat afternoon after working!!
