Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Just got back from a ?working lunch? with a colleague (also known as a 2 hour gossip). I have to agree with morningpaper it is soooooooo much easier than looking after toddler, especially since I have told them that since my hospital stay I am no longer driving round the county going to meetings and am going to spend all day talking on mumsnet. Well ok, I didn?t actually mention the mumsnet bit.

Hey fastasleep, I?ve put everything above packing a hospital bag and buying baby clothes, and much to my colleague?s amusement am driving around the county with a crib on the back seat as it is bad luck to have it in the house.

BBBonnie ? picked up any tips on the birth programmes!!

nervousmum2be · 13/09/2005 16:33

Sorry to hear of your 'troubles' Fastasleep. I can only sympathise as i suffer terribly with eczema down there, but just to reiterate what everyone alse is saying, you must get it checked out. 2 mins of embarrassment is nothing in the grand scheme of things!

Really bad back this afternoon. Tis self-inflicted as i was putting up flat-pack furnature in a mad panic, very aware that i've got less than 2 weeks to get the house up to some resemblance of normality before i go into hospital! And to make things worse, the electician who came round for a quote on connecting our brand new boiler to the mains informed us that we need a whole new fusebox - more expense, more time etc etc. At this rate, i'll be bringing my new baby home to a building site! Sorry for my ranting, NM2B x

SusiS · 13/09/2005 21:35

wow you guys have been busy

not much to report from me really.
bump is rocksolid most of the time and getting quite uncomfortable
walking is just a pain and i am getting out of breath so easily now!
i can only sit upright now because bubs is so big that slumbing in any way just pressing on something inside!
and i am getting these electric shock feelings in my lower back - remind me of early labour last time. but not that painfull really - yet!
but besides all of that i am not too bad

oh, received my tensmachine today which i hired

sometimes i wish i was still working; compared with last time it's much more difficult now to look after a toddler and being pregnant
no sitting down all day; coffee breaks when needed ; little chats with collegues ...
instead crawling around all day after a very active toddler whose fav game is 'chase' of course. tidying up after him all day long.
he wants to go outside of course. oh well, luckily dp is really good and takes over quite a bit now! housechores have to wait till after birth (only minimum gets done now!)

fastasleep at your rabbit story
and don't work yourself up about getting checked down there! you will get checked alot once labour has started!!! just take a deep breath and think of something different

moomin you are not horrible at all!!! guess it's just normal that you want to ready yourself for the big event! it is quite emotional

redlass glad you are feeling better

elf take that excuse and put your feet up
soon you'll be running them off all day/night long!!!

hope everyone's doing allright.
i can see the finish line already - 19 days to go

BigBumpBonnie · 14/09/2005 09:15

Donbean, so sorry didn't see your post until this morning. It would've been nice to see you and ds and would have spared me from an afternoon of discovery H&H! DD stayed in bed for 3 hours yesterday afternoon!!! She still went to bed ok and on time last night, so I'm not complaining.

Redtartanlass, yes I did pick up one good tip from the baby programmes yesterday.......don't do it, it HURTS!!!! Seeing those women screaming and writhing in pain is not great when you've only got a few weeks to go. Maybe I won't watch any more!!

Really need to venture out today, my dd has her 2 year development check, I need some milk and I've promised her a trip to the library. Much as I could just curl up on the sofa all day I suppose I'll have to make an effort.

Fastasleep, hope you're feeling a bit better down there, I just thought you'd also best be sorting it out now as you're after a home birth. If you wait until labour and they spot an infection they might make you go to hospital for the birth. ( you can tell I'm an expert after all those programmes )

Really looking forward to getting my scan on Friday. I look at each appointment as a type of milestone now that time seems to have stood still.

Hope everyone else is wellxx

Elf1981 · 14/09/2005 09:30

Despite blood pressure, have been going into work for two hours a day just to sort out my paperwork, collect my things, put the out of office on, and so I've got 2 hours today and 2 hours on Thursday, then off for a long lunch with workmates that day. So four hours of work, and I'm done!

Am knackered though. Have to drive to work as cant cope with the bus and the walks, and have a little sleep in the afternoon when I get back.

Had awful morning so far - got a phone call at 8:30 when I was half asleep, some woman accusing me of having an affair with "her man". Think it was one of those pre-recorded things. If I hadn't been half asleep, I'd have been saying "do you think I'd have the effing energy to have an effing affair? I'm 36 weeks pregnant, got high blood pressure and I'm effing knackered!" but as it was I kinw of mumbled sleepily "what... sorry, what are you saying?"

At least my hair looks good - my sister did it last night for me (she's just qualified as a stylist), cut it slightly and did the colour so it looks great. After she'd done it, she smiled and said "now the baby can come as your hair looks good". Never mind the furniture hasn't arrived yet....

Mum picked up my travel system yesterday so we had fun playing around with that!!

Redtartanlass · 14/09/2005 09:30

Hey BBBonnie ? in the wee small hours when I was thinking of all that could go wrong in the next few weeks??..a strange thought came to me. After bub is born are you going to rename to weebumpbonnie or nobumpbonnie or even ironingboardstomachbonnie!! The things you think about at 3am with a snoring dp beside you.

Fastasleep ? phone your doctor NOW, you promised you would!

Susis ? 28 days to go!!! Ahhhhh sounds like ages

nervousmum2be ?hope your back is better now

BigBumpBonnie · 14/09/2005 10:01

Redtartanlass, my days of ironingboardstomachbonnie are long gone! I think saggybumpbonnie will be more appropriate!

I was thinking of this board as well the other night and thinking how nice it would be to all meet up with our new babies. Absolutely ridiculous idea, I know as we are dotted all over the place, but a nice thought all the same

Redtartanlass · 14/09/2005 10:19

Bbb ? think it?s a lovely idea, but as you say really hard to arrange. We could have a wee website where we could post pics of our babies. That would be interesting!!! I?m in glos where are u?

nervousmum2be · 14/09/2005 10:44

Morning All - well my backache got worse last night, then from 8pm i was getting definite 'tightenings' every 10 mins or so. Phoned my local midwives who told me to get straight up to the main hospital, where i was prodded and poked and hooked up to various monitors with the possibility i was in early labour Eventually at 1am (!), i persuaded them to send me home as nothing was getting any worse (and they clearly weren't going to offer me my c-section), so i'm currently at home still getting minor contractions waiting for my local community MW to come and visit to apparantly recheck my cervix - if there are any more changes, i may well have to go back to hospital today and have Boo!!! Although, more than likely, everything will just tail off to nothing and we're back on for the 26th I'll keep you posted....

fastasleep · 14/09/2005 11:16

Nm2b I got one single solitary contraction last night, and it scared the hell out of me, I'd be wandering around blithering if I was in your place! You relax and eat jaffa cakes or cookies or jaffa cakes and cookies hmm and keep your feet up...

A meet with our babies would be so cute! I'd want to take them all home though, I always do... I'm in Liverpool though, the website is a good idea!

Talking of getting one very painful definate contraction at only 34 weeks (I knoooow go to the doctors already fastasleep!) I just dragged DS's new toddler bed upstairs and then put it together and stressed myself out no end! Duh! (Stick to making rabbit families fastasleep! I'm currently sewing together the 'big daddy rabbit'lol)

BUT, BUT! On the doctor front I am 100% definately seeing one tomorrow, so don't you worry about me lol

BBB you will be ironingboardstomachbonnie again! Or at least aweebitflabbybutmyDHthinksit'scutebonnie....

Everyone avoid flat pack furniture and screw drivers, that's it end of huge message!

BigBumpBonnie · 14/09/2005 12:20

I'm in Blackpool, so not really near anyone on here. The website is a great idea though. Wouldn't it be good to put faces to all these names.

Glad you're seeing dr tomorrow, fastasleep. It'll stop all us lot going on at you Hope everything turns out to be ok.

Nm2b, ooh i've got a feeling you could be the next!!! good luck and keep us posted

Redtartanlass · 14/09/2005 12:35

boring website!
If anybody wants to know what me and mine look like, have a large tot of whisky and look at the scary pics on the link above. I'm the one with the mouth open catching flys!!

I don't mind setting up a website just for us, what would we call it www.october05mums.com or madmums.com

Any suggestions?

fastasleep - glad about docs
nm2b - thinking of you and good luck
elf1981 - hope your day got better!!

triceratops · 14/09/2005 12:58

I am really enjoying waiting for the next baby on the board. NM2B are you having a girl or a boy or a surprise?

nervousmum2be · 14/09/2005 13:17

A little boy

Still sitting here feeling uncomfortable, and still waiting for this goodly midwife....

triceratops · 14/09/2005 13:24

I wanted a boy but only because that is what I had last time and I think he is the best thing ever.

I bet I like girls in about 36 days.

RTLass your little one looks a real sweetie. I am glad that I am not the only one who finds it difficult to find a photo where my mouth is shut.

fastasleep · 14/09/2005 14:21

Boys are fantastic and wonderful and cuddly! And they look just as cute in blue as girls do in pink... I love boys... aww...

Nice website Red very cute piccies

Bonnie I always look whistfully at the train to Blackpool... we should all meet up there!

NM2B keep us updated, otherwise you'll just turn into 'NM' and none of us will be any wiser!

I've just started clearing all the crap out of our 'junk wardrobe' in DS's room... it looks horrendous in there as he was 'helping' by copying mummy and emptying his toy-box all over the floor but I have about enough energy to go and sit downstairs and watch him trash there, DH not going to be impressed!

Plus point - I found the tiniest weeniest little pop-ons and scratch mits and hats and I've gone all gooey..(do make sure you get scratch mits first timers, they can really hurt their faces!)

jolovett · 14/09/2005 14:29

Still hanging on in there.

Having irregular pains/tightnings but nothing happening yet!

So fed up of peeing - anyone else feel like they're living in the bathroom?

3/5ths engaged now.

Waiting patiently....

fastasleep · 14/09/2005 14:30

Oooh ooooh Jo, NM2B it's a race!

...Place your bets now...

I still have 5 and a half weeks to go and I'm terrified! You two seem very calm and collected!

Redtartanlass · 14/09/2005 14:40

When any of you were pregnant before and you heard that someone had their baby early, did you think "That's NOT FAIR I was before you!!!"

or is it just sad, envious me....

I want to be next 4 weeks is far to long away!!

Jockey · 14/09/2005 17:13

Yes Redtartanlass - I do sometimes feel . I wouldn't mind if baby came early at all, but I am usually one of those cases drinking raspberry leaf tea and eating curries & trying everything in the book (even resorting to sex depending on level of desperation). So I'm resigned to the fact that I will be late. If this one decides to surprise me that would be lovely!

triceratops · 14/09/2005 17:48

I tried to resort to sex but dh wasn't having any of it. I am just too huge and ungainly (I can't even fit into any of my nice undies for a seduction, although I do have a pair of f**k me shoes I could try sorry TMI).

I told him that if he didn't seize his opportunity now he could wait until December.

PMSL at the thought of me in my whale like state flouncing into the bedroom in my f**k me shoes. [grn]

Moomin · 14/09/2005 19:27

I can't even get my f* me shoes on! My feet are like massive deflated footballs. I've been in flip flops since May. I'll probably have to have slices taken off them after the birth if I'm to get into proper shoes ever again. Maybe they could do this during the c-section....

fastasleep · 14/09/2005 20:06

My g-strings and thongs still fit mwahahahahaha! But I have a toxic fanny! There's always something to screw it up

Moomin · 14/09/2005 20:08

that's probably why you've got a toxic fanny !!! How anyone can wear those things by choice in any circumstance, let alone when you're preggers is beyond me! I've got mates that swear by them but it feels like I'm straddling on a telephone wire when I wear them.

morningpaper · 14/09/2005 20:14

Oooh no I feel sorry for people who have babies early - so much more to stress about - and a lot of people express concern that their babies aren't quite ready/cooked enough ... believe me, you don't want a small mouth clumsily taking chunks out of your nipples, it can be a nightmare... I want a WELL BAKED BABY!

Washed some sleepsuits today and worked out how to put the pram up... Must pack hospital bag soon - 18 days until my (scan) due date (I'm hoping it will be a bit later though!).
