Glad to hear that you have got things organised NM2B. Eeek a fortnight is not that far away is it!!

Put your feet up and make the most of it

Nothing to report on bump front today except I think I am going to give birth to an octopus given the number of arms and legs that I can feel flailing about inside me! It is very distracting, especially when I am on the phone to a client

Have a good weekend everyone

MB

fastasleep · 09/09/2005 12:58

I'm with you on the octopus! I was like that last time too, and I can gladly report he only had 2 arms and 2 legs... although they never did stop flailing (we couldn't get his arms in a swaddle, they always poked out of the top as if they were glued to the sides of his head for the first 3 months! Aww @ the memory)

How you can want a c-section is beyond me, you're a brave woman NM2B, I'd rather be in agony than have that needle, 2 weeks though! I'd be going mad with terror! Bet you'll do brilliantly

I've stopped sort of...moving... lol as well, not going out except to midwives and I just feel like a heavy old heffer who's been dropped on her head, think my hormones have gone mad... keep getting very upset and down... and I want my bump to stay a bump, I don't care how heavy and yuck I feel!!

nervousmum2be · 09/09/2005 14:18

Trust me, the state of my back, it's the most preferable option unless i want to end up with major spinal surgery and in traction!

Jockey · 09/09/2005 14:59

Glad everything is sorted out nm2b - at least now you can plan ahead a bit. It is all getting rather close isn't it!?!

We still don't have a name for our baby yet - just cannot decide. And I thought it was going to be easier naming a girl. Might have to be one of those people that "sees what she looks like" before naming her - in that case it will probably be Winston after the great man himself. Or "Baldy". Well frankly all my three have looked more or less the same! They've been skinny & REALLY wrinkly due to being "overcooked".

Hope everyone is surviving the heat. I wouldn't be going anywhere if it wasn't for my 3 year old driving me mad, demanding to go out (bit like a puppy!).

morningpaper · 09/09/2005 15:33

My first pregnancy was ok by this time because the baby engaged in the pelvis at around 34 weeks and everything was 'lighter'. This time the baby is floating free and I am DEFINITELY feeling the worse for it. Any other 1+ mums agree?

BigBumpBonnie · 09/09/2005 16:11

Got back from hospital and my gorgeous, well behaved, darling of a baby is now head down I am soooooooo happy. She was checked by a doctor and a midwife who confirmed it. They have booked me in for a scan next Friday (when I'll be 37 weeks) as she was breech for quite a while they're a bit worried she'll go back. I knew my bump felt different to before, the most noticeable difference is the need to pee every couple of minutes!!I feel sorry for you lot who's babies have been head down for weeks as you've had to put up with it for ages. Anyway heads not engaged or anything but I'm keeping my fingers crossed she'll stay this way up, and the good thing is I get a scan next Friday after having not had one since 20 weeks. I was concerned at being booked in for a c section as that would have taken place in a couple of weeks and I just don't feel ready.

I feel I can relax a bit more now. Just have to put up with dh saying 'told you so' as he was sure she'd turn and I wouldn't need a section. For once he's right

Glad you're all sorted nm2b. Hope everyone else is ok!!

fastasleep · 09/09/2005 21:56

The free thing is definately more uncomfy! I was engaged at 30 weeks or so last time... god it was blissful!

Jockey my little un looked like an overbaked potato at 37 weeks! I dread to think what Sophia'll look like, as she'll probably be on time or late... it'll be hilarious! I bet you'll think of the perfect name, sometimes seeing them really helps

Yay for Bonnie! Clever little boo finally getting the hang of the 'Fragile - This way up!' sign I dread to think what being engaged will feel like actually, can't stop peeing already, and I'm allergic due to my weird hormones to anything tena lady padlike

My wee little baby man is getting his first ever bed on Wednesday sniffles he's not a baby anymore (yes he is yes he is yes he iiiiiiisssssss bawls)

hester · 10/09/2005 10:13

Hi everyone.

moomin and elf - so sorry to hear about your complications. Don't panic Elf; they're quite right to want to keep a close eye on your BP but it can jump up and down very quickly. Make sure you keep an eye on yourself, too, for any other symptoms - headache, swelling, dizziness, blurred vision, drowsiness, nausea, high abdominal pain etc.

I started NCT and hospital antenatal classes this week - some of it very useful and some of it quite hilariously bad. The breastfeeding counsellor offered to teach dp how to breastfeed our baby . the other mums were a real mixed bag; some very friendly and others very snotty and cool.

I'm now counting the days off till I finish work (less than two weeks). I find the commuting very hard. I feel so full of baby, and now that she's 3/5 engaged the pressure on my bladder and pelvis is quite strong. I TRY to walk like a normal person but it just ain't happening - I am rather good at a shuffling waddle, though.

Elf1981 · 10/09/2005 11:04

Hi all.

Spent most of yesterday in hospital getting checked out but luckily blood pressure has gone down slightly and no protein in urine yesterday. Think it was sheer mind over matter and repeating the "i will NOT be staying in hospital!" mantra in my head all morning!

Have been "released" into care of midwife and have to have blood pressure checked twice weekly to see how its going. Been told I could go back to work, but I'm only going to work 2 hours a day just to finish off, and nothing if pressure goes high again.

BUT... they scanned me at the hospital as well, and baby IS still breech (I knew it!!). Got appointment on Fri 23rd for another scan, to see the position, to have possible turning thingy done, or back to discuss possible C-section. Though last night DH did lie in bed, whispering to my tummy, something along the lines of "Boo, listen to daddy, you're in the wrong position, turn around for me, don't upset mummy..."

If Boo turns, I swear, DH can do all the negotiations with Boo when they get older!!

So, am I the only breechy left now???

nervousmum2be · 10/09/2005 15:15

So tired, and nearly passed out in Homebase earlier (v.v embarassing!) - how am i going to last out another 2 weeks like this?!?

Scrubbing kitchen floors is apparantly good for turing breech babies...if you can get down that far, and have enough energy (i do not, on either counts!) - you could always come and do mine

nervousmum2be · 10/09/2005 15:17

And i'm glad for you that your blood pressure and urine are behaving themselves

Jockey · 10/09/2005 15:31

Glad you've escaped the clutches of the hospital Elf and here's hoping that Boo does the business for you as soon as possible. Take good care of yourself.

Mine is still floating about all over the place and probably won't engage until I go into labour, apparently. It feels like triplets with all the limbs everywhere!

nervousmum2be - Hope you feel better soon. I know what you mean as I keep feeling lightheaded in supermarkets/shops which is really irritating for me but dh is silently rejoicing (I can tell). Can't think why .

Lexie100 · 10/09/2005 16:19

Afternoon all. Glad that most of us are still, reasonably, well. My little one is 3/5 engaged and i can tell you the trips to the loo during the night are every 2 hours max.

Will go into town on monday for the final shop and then to pack my hospital bag! We went for a tour round the maternity unit at the hospital and i'm now terrified that this is really going to happen. I just want it over with now and the little one to be with me.

Off to nephew's 7th birthday party!

Moomin · 10/09/2005 22:30

Two weeks to go til I go into hosp and I've just realised that this is the only time I've got to get everything ready - yikes! Luckily my god-daughter is a star and has insisted that she wash all the baby clothes left over from dd and her dd so I don't have to worry about that at least.

Dd was FOUR today!! bless... her little pottery party went well then we had most the kids back to rampage round for 3 hours. I just sat in the middle of it eating the remains of her carrot cake while dh plied everyone with beer. I'm KNACKERED now. Can't believe my little bab is 4 and in exactly a month's time there'll be another one (touch wood nothing drastic happens in the meantime)! It's all a bit weird...

morningpaper - I totally sympathise. I feel faint just standing up and breathing in and out at the moment. I had to sit down whilst putting cheese into rolls today - how rubbish am I? Baby constantly has her limbs stretched out so they are across my hips and I can't sit properly! most peculiar.

fastasleep · 10/09/2005 23:23

Elf don't scrub the floor! I scrubbed my front room floor on my hands and knees (even though not a breechy) and you know what happened eh, eh? It took me all bloody day, I felt horrid, then my nasty parents came and trod mud all over...all over ...don't do it I say! Just keep up with the negotiations... I hope it works, that 'following the nose' turning thing they do can be really good! Although it can bring on labour if it works... not that that would be so bad! (It's great about your BP and urine samples! Kept wondering when you'd be back to update!)

I can't sit properly either... someone has her feet under my ribs and her hand's trying to escape out of you know where! DH was watching with awe as my belly did the Mexican wave for about 2 hours last night lol...

I keep getting breathless and poo too, I had to endure two hours of my really annoying mother repeating 'Are you all right?' and then chirping up with barbed comments about how some people's arses get big when they get pregnant... ugh! (She put on like 5 stone with me, Dad still remembers, I don't know how she can bloomin complain about me!)

Everyone relax, put your feet up at every opportunity and get as much sleep as you can - that's an order!! (OK, I've been watching GI Jane a little too long I think lol)

Best of luck for hospital Moomin, you shouldn't be putting cheese in anyone's rolls you should be resting!

Phew that was a long un..

Elf1981 · 11/09/2005 11:23

Just got up
Ahh well, guess should catch up sleep when I can... not that it's entirely restful when I'm up every five minutes to pee!
DH has finished laying the floor in Boo's room, it looks really good. I'm going to touch up the ceiling paint (much to my mum's disgust, she keeps telling me that if I stretch I'll wrap the cord around the baby's head. Told her it was an old wives tale, she said she is an old wife so she's entitled to believe it's true!). DH isn't too keen on the idea either, he's planning on beating me to it, but I'll go barmy if I have to sit around the house doing nothing for the next few weeks!
Furniture is coming on Friday, so DH's going to put it up (but not the cotbed) and then my sis is coming up on Sat and we're going to put all the clothes away and set the room up. I'm sooooo looking forward to it!

Hope everybody has a relaxing Sunday!
I'll keep you posted about my blood pressure on Monday after midwife visits.

Elf1981 · 11/09/2005 11:24

Fastasleep - I think I'll be avoiding doing the floor... last time I did it, DH trapsed mud in the kitchen! Besides, I think if I get down there to do it, I'll never get back up again!!!

mawbroon · 11/09/2005 15:19

I am just back from meeting my DH for lunch. He has a Landrover and enjoys going to the club off roading days. There is one nearby today and I encouraged him to go as it could be long enough before he can go to stuff like that again. I used to enjoy going with him too, but it's not the best idea in my condition . TBH I have got this far in my pregnancy and that is the first thing that I have felt that I was missing out on, so that's not bad going I suppose.

I have volunteered as a body for a "massage during pregnancy" course next weekend. All the students already hold massage qualifications and this is another string to their bow, so hopefully it will be relaxing rather than feeling poked and prodded by a bunch of beginners. Best thing is of course that it's free but whether I will be able to get up off the massage couch when they have finished is another matter all together....

Nothing to report on bump front really. He is spending more time head down than not, but now and again he pops up and bobs about all over the place. I am doing all the forward leaning positions which the midwives encourage, so hopefully that will help. I also got the results of my blood tests and have to take some iron tablets. I am not looking forward to the constipation and black jobbies though

Hope you are all feeling as well as can be expected.

Take care

MB

YOKEFLEET · 11/09/2005 17:43

hope your all doing ok. I am 37 weeks today so not be long now then eh!!! Seeing my mw tomorrow but had a health check at the new Dr's on Friday where my bp and urine were both fine so things should be ok I hope!
Just about got bags ready for hospital and baby's room is coming together, just finished washing their clothes etc.
Last night I had the best nights sleep in months and months, I only went to the loo once in the nite (sorry if tmi!) instead of the usual 5 or 6 times and woke up without any aches and pains - BLISS
My sister and niece (who will be 2 next Sunday) are coming to visit the new house from Yorkshire tomorrow I can't wait, it is only 3 weeks since I saw them but was used to seeing them every week so I have really missed them.
Anyway I must stop waffling and go get something nice to eat!!
Have a good evening

nervousmum2be · 11/09/2005 19:24

Evening All, i trust everyone's had a good weekend. I'm feeling better today, post yesterday's fainting fit and my nesting urge has come back with a vengence - i'm currently knee deep in junk, having decided to clear out the cupboard under the stairs!

Quick Q - should i be concerned about a lack of MW appointment? I was due to see her last Tuesday, but as i'd been in that Saturday with my ache, they cancelled the appointment, and i haven't been given another one. DP says not to worry, seeing as i saw the consultant Friday and i'm due to be seen for my caesarean pre-assessment a week Tuesday. My reason for asking is that i haven't had my last blood test results, or my repeat swab result that is supposed to clear up the mystery of whether i'm group B or group G strep positive. Any suggestions? Ta x

Moomin · 11/09/2005 19:52

In my situation, my consultant appts have sort of overridden the midwife appts, or replaced them at the very least. I'd maybe ring your gp surgery (or wherever your notes are based) for the blood test results, but other than that, direct all your queries to your consultant and the midwives attached to there now. HTH x

nervousmum2be · 11/09/2005 19:57

Thanks Moomin x

Moomin · 11/09/2005 20:05

That's ok

Been doing some organising today, getting the Moses down off the wardrobe and stuff like that. Our room looks so cluttered now with that the changing table rammed in there!

Spose I should also think about my hosp bag, esp as I'm sposed to be prepared for an emergency. Found some yummy maternity pads from last time in a drawer, which I can either put in my bag or use as mattresses in the moses basket. Am refusing to even consider those vile pants made out of teabags... will be using huge black maternity knickers instead. Bought some Nature breast pads the other day, the same people that do the Nature Boy&Girl nappies so they're as biodegradeable as poss. Am leaking a bit now so my bras have nice flaky yellow stains in them at the end of the day now, mmmm.

What else? Outfit for baby, newborn nappies, cotton wool and all my stuff. Really can't stand the thought of being away from home for three whole weeks (plus however long I need to stay in after the c-sect). Am looking into trying to get internet access at least...!

Piggiesmum · 11/09/2005 21:38

Moomin - sorry to hear about the placenta previa? Do they think baby is likely to come early because of it? Was just wondering because of you saying they gave you the steroid injection.

Bonnie, glad to hear your little ones have turned.

Elf hope your little one turns soon and your blood pressure has come down again.

J&BM, Good luck with your move.

Not much happening here. Just feeling fat and heffer-like. Managed to find a nice top and trouseurs for dh's posh company do next weekend. He's only been there a few weeks so I don't know anyone yet. Bit scary as I'm quite shy but hoping the bump will be a bit of an ice-breaker/conversation opener etc.

Bump has just given me one hell of a whack in the bladder. Made me jump and cry out, had dh quite worried about me for a moment bless him. Hope it was a thump and not a kick. Will probably find out tomorrow at scan.

Anyway Hope everyone has had a nice weekend.

Redtartanlass · 11/09/2005 23:14

Hi All
