Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AlwaysHopeful · 04/06/2010 11:50

Filly - yes on the sinuses question. I thought I was starting with a head cold back in October, but it simply hasn't gone away and I've been bunged up and snotty ever since! I can't wait for this pregnancy to be over now!!!

Sacucepanman - fingers crossed that things improve for you today.

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/06/2010 13:09

Baby is HEAD DOWN

Sunworshipper · 04/06/2010 13:16

CWSW Whooppeeeeee

MrsAlwaysRight · 04/06/2010 13:17

Woo Hoo CSWS thats fab news!!

Anyone else fed up with the hot weather?

greensnail · 04/06/2010 13:37

Brilliant news CSWS MrsAR not surprised you're fed up, I'm very glad to be without bump in this weather. You're welcome to come over and share our paddling pool if you like

LaTrucha · 04/06/2010 13:37

Saucepanman - I really sympathise with your situation. I had simialr problems with DD. It won't really help to tell you that DD is perfectly healthy. Still a skinny minny but bouncing with energy. But she is, and will Gabriel be. Hang on in there. I remember it well. Feel free to CAT me if you'd like to lament in greater detail!

CSWS - Fablulous news. I'm really happy for you.

MrsAlwaysRight · 04/06/2010 13:41

greensnail very tempting. You might have trouble persuading me to get out again though!

greensnail · 04/06/2010 13:45

No problem, I'm sure DD1 would splash you out if we get fed up of you . Seriously, let me know if you fancy it, you can get in some practice with Alice.

LittleRobbo · 04/06/2010 16:00

CSWS wow what a relief for you excellent news

Filly i basically feel awful today too,i think its a combo of a cold, hayfever, and general pg aches & pains,my head feels so thick!!! Soooo fed up,really just want baby to come out now,she says desperately

NizzyNoodles · 04/06/2010 16:21

Fab news CSWS

Hope everyone is coping ok with the heat!

NotGrownUpEnough · 04/06/2010 16:38

thats fantastic news csws - I'm sooooooo jealous haha xx

AlwaysHopeful · 04/06/2010 16:44

MrsAR yes, thoroughly fed up with being swollen and not having anything to wear that makes me feel less like a barge.

Have been shopping with my mum this afternoon looking for a handbag to match the shoes she has bought for my brother's wedding in 9 weeks. Am now thoroughly dishartened by all the clothes that I've been oblivious to over the past few months and am longing to have my body back so I can look nice for their wedding. Mum kept picking things up and says "this is lovely" and my response is always "how am I going to breast feed in that?!"

Get this baby out of me!

I did at least come home with a very lovely summer dress for DD and some shorts, so at least DD looks lovely in the heat!

AlwaysHopeful · 04/06/2010 16:45

CSWS woohoo for your good news!

MonkeyMargot · 04/06/2010 21:08

hooray csws - fabulous news. Had you noticed the baby turning at all? Imagine there's not a huge amount of space left now so might be quite noticeable.

alwayshopeful so depressing shopping when you're feeling huge and hot. Don't despair - BF will soon get some of the weight off and there's still plenty of time to sort an outfit out for your bro's wedding.

DD had some vomity bug today but aside from that, all well in the monkey household.
My TENS machine arrived so am officially ready for labour.

Someone told me that walking for half an hour after 7pm is helpful in bringing on labour, so just walked the dog and my hip is now really sore - feel like an old lady.

There must be some more babies coming along soon...who will be next?

gizmo · 04/06/2010 22:14

Great news CSWS. Stand by for blast off!

Saucepanman you have my utter sympathy - I've been where you've been with DS1 who lost 25% of his bodyweight in the first week. It's utterly appropriate to get upset & even very small children can understand that mummys get cross and sad sometimes and it doesn't mean you don't love them anymore. And oh, grrr, to the gruelling business of weights and measures - I remember it so well.

Has anyone discussed a nasal gastric tube with you? It looks bad, but if he's sleepy it might be the most appropriate way of topping him up without resorting to bottles: you'll probably only need to get 2 or 3 days of top ups into him to get his engines started again and overcome the sleepiness. Problem is, I guess he'd need to be readmitted to have it put in and monitored to start with.

I hope all of you pregnant ladies have access to garden sprinklers this weekend - if it's any consolation, I'm finding trying to keep 3 children cool and sun screened a lot more hassle than 2.

Finally visited the Registry Office today and have registered our daughter as Hester Rose. Inspiration finally taken from a combination of the Duke of Badminton's list of foxhound names and Lady Hester Stanhope, an 18th C diplomat and adventurer of impressive bloodymindedness. Time will tell if that isn't a rather heavy burden

Saucepanman · 04/06/2010 22:25

LaTrcha thanks I will do that as soon as I can

CSWS fab news!

Gabriel feeding much better today- yay! So instead I have started bleeding again, having completely stopped, with renewed vigour so am waiting to see how that pans out and hope I don't have to go back in

Joy! Nothing is ever simple is it with me?! [thinks it was a wise decision to get sterilised]

Oh I love the name Hester gizmo - excellent choice!

Am willing the rest of the breech babies to turn too. Was v surprised that I didn't feel it when it happened, as I felt it every time with ds a few weeks earlier than this. Can only assume that it chose to turn overnight some time so that I slept through it .

Saucepanman · 05/06/2010 00:22

gizmo missed your post, thanks for your kind supportive words. Gastro-nasal tubes scare the life out of me tbh, that and those awful blood tests, venus something. Gabriel has been awake and feeding/pooing constantly 5.30pm to midnight-ish, so hope that's a good sign. I appear to have stopped haemorraging for now

Love the names Hester Rose btw

NotGrownUpEnough · 05/06/2010 08:48

I love the name gizmo!!

Looks like it's just me and you now earlyonemorning in the breech club. When are you due, i'm being blind and can't see you on the list.

sunworshipper - i'm going back to work on monday, the more time i have off before the less time i'll have off after so have decided to crack on.

I went shopping with MIL yesterday and got some fantastic full length floaty dresses from TK Maxx, just can't take leggings any more which is what i've been living in. They should hopefully make this heat a bit more bearable. They're not maternity but will definitely do.

roundabout1 · 05/06/2010 16:12

Gizmo - love the name, really pretty

csws - Pleased your baby has turned, bet you are so relieved, fingers crossed for the other naughty babies.

I'm too hot, and as a result and am very grumpy and actually feel a bit sorry for dp today. He was in the doghouse earlier this week for moaning about how inconvenient it is not knowing when this baby will arrive (was due on 2nd) being so uncomfortable, being unable to sleep for more than 45 mins strangely enough I wasn't overly sympathetic to him as you can imagine. But he has redeemed himself a bit now & has had to put up with me griping all day. No signs of impending labour here, not even any bh's. Tmi alert - lots of discharge though, pretty gross really but is normal iykwim. Am feeling a bit sick after drinking so much raspberry leaf tea so my hearts not even in that at the moment.

MonkeyMargot · 05/06/2010 17:09

gorgeous name gizmo!!

GibberingGinger · 05/06/2010 17:29

Very very quick message. apologies for absence as this if the first time I've been near a computer in 10 days

Waters broke on early on wed 26th May, James and Douglas born by c-section at 15.44 and 15.45 weighing in at 5lb 13 and 5lb 15oz. Initially got onto the postnatal ward after they were born but they weren't doing to well so they got transferred to scbu on Thursday. Unfortunately we have been stuck there since. Even I am still in hospital - but have got an afternoon off to come home and spend some time with dd1.

Nothing much wrong with the boys, but neither of them are good feeders. After initially breastfeeding we had to abandon that as the boys blood sugars were all over the place and they couldn't maintain their temps. A bit of tube feeding sorted that and the rest of the time in scbu has been spent trying to establish bottle feeding. Both are tongue tied. Douglas it doesn't really affect, and he is just about getting there with a bottle. James is severely tongue tied, but they can't cut it as its too full of blood vessels and fibrous and would require a general anaesthetic which they won't do in a pre term baby. So its just a case of persevering with the bottles and topping him up down his feeding tube until he gets strong enough/good enough technique to feed himself. Who would have thought even bottle feeding would be so problematic! Anyway, will get home this week at some point, even if it is tube feeding at home (as far as possible from the breast feeding I had hoped to do!). Will update more then.

Has turned into a huge message! Haven't read everyones news, but congratulations to those who have delivered.

Gibbering ginger - Congratulations on the birth of your boys. Am sorry to hear about the feeding problems & that you are not getting to breastfeed as you had hoped. Most importantly though they are well & I hope you manage to bring them home soon xx
