Filly most definitely a compliment! Woohoo for mat leave! The sun's come out just in time for you.

Perkster - no numb tongues here, I'm afraid, so I can't help on that one. Poor you having to work so late in your pregnancy. Hope you can get your feet up at the weekend and sleep/rest/relax for a couple of days before your last week at work.

MrsC09 · 21/05/2010 11:40

Hi All,
Sorry I've been away too long to catch up on all the old posts (I did make an attempt but gave up after only getting through 3 pages in an hour and have about 50 to go!). Congratulations to those of you who's babies have arrived!

I've only got 2.5 weeks to go till due date but not sure bubs is going to hang in there that long. Am enjoying my first week of maternity leave...could definitely get used to not having to go to work every day! Am in full nesting mode & trying to figure out how to make a seat cover for the rocking chair in the nursery. Have dug out the sewing machine that has been left unused in its box for 3 years. My previous sewing experience is limited to very basic cushion covers & curtains so result could be interesting. Anyway off to John Lewis for haberdashery bits & to enjoy the sun.

Hopefully I should have more time now to keep up with posts!

NizzyNoodles · 21/05/2010 12:02

Congrats Gizmo on the safe arrival of your little girl!

Megs good news about taking Jimmy home very soon

I'm feeling much more with it today so an afternoon in the garden for us!

herewegrow · 21/05/2010 12:48

Congratulations Gizmo sorry to hear you had such rubbish care.

Megs so glad to hear you are getting to take Jimmy home this weekend

Enjoy the sun everyone and have lovely weekends.

Suzy1975 · 21/05/2010 13:00

Hello everyone, my second post here. Sounds like things are hotting up for everyone - it's lovely to hear about all the new arrivals, congratulations!

Perkster - my tongue isn't numb but it started to bleed last night, which I thought was odd!! I was going to Google it to find out more. There's a sore patch that has literally appeared overnight

I'm also finding it difficult to do much in the way of housework. Hoovering is killing my back so I've decided not to do anymore

greensnail · 21/05/2010 13:13

Congratulations gizmo on the birth of your little girl. Hope you are both doing well. Am also shocked at the "care" you received. Agree with filly that a face-to-face meeting with head of midwifery is probably the best way to get the response and action you would want, if and when you feel up to doing this.

meggy - fab to hear you and Jimmy are doing so well and will soon be at home.

perkster - i have a numb spot on my tongue too. I think this is something I get when I'm a bit run down generally, not just when pregnant. Sometimes it just goes away and other times it develops into a mouth ulcer.

LaTrucha · 21/05/2010 14:06

Congratulations Gizmo. I'm sorry your labour wasn't treated well. Definitely complain but in the meantime, enjoy baby Gizmo. Did she have to go to SCBU

Briliant news Meggymegs. Sounds like you're taking to this like a duck to water. Hope you get to go home tomorrow.

Perkster - was it you who was worrying about aksing silly questions? Well don't. That's what we're here for. I know nothing about numb tongues though!

Forgot to ask all the questions I wanted to ask at MW check up today. Maybe you guys can help with one of them....

Do you know how important it is to avoid chicken pox at 34 weeks. There are some cases at DD's nursery and I'm wondering if it is worth keeping her off.

AlwaysHopeful · 21/05/2010 14:20

LaT - have you had chicken pox yourself before? I think it's more important to avoid it if you haven't had it yourself. Also, if your DD has had it already, I think there would be less risk... Would be worth a phone call to the midwife, I think.

sobloodystupid · 21/05/2010 14:24

Congratulations Gizmo and I hope Meggymegs you get to bring home your lo tomorrow. Incidentally,to add to the poor experiences, I was induced with ds and was in agony, I was told I wasn't in labour, luckily dh "pushed" this and when I was finally examined I was 7cm! Anyway, enough, had appt with GP today -all going well thankfully, I hope it's the same story with the rest of you, here's a toast to June babies.

MrsDmamee · 21/05/2010 15:04

congrats gizmo and welcom baby girl gizmo.

what a terrible way those midwives treated you and your DH, definitely make a complaint and also enjoy all those lovely newborn snuggles and i hope she doesnt have to be in scbu too long if she is there.

meggy sounds as though baby jimmy is really doing well and you too as a brand new mummy

Im trying not to get too fed up at the moment but i do sympatise with everyone else who is feeling so fed up..achy and sore all day long.

But apart from all that we had an impromtu bbq yesterday evening and it was just lovely relaxing in the garden with a yummy salad and homemade burgers, that i managed to do all by myself
DH did the cooking bit.

Sunworshipper · 21/05/2010 15:22

Congratulations on the birth of your baby girl Gizmo. What wonderful news and hope you are all doing well. I'm sorry you didn't have the care you deserved. Why won't they listen to Mums?

Meggy so glad you and Jimmy are going from strength to strength and you will have him home soon! Sounds like you have had excellent support.

Perkster you can only do what you can at work. You've got a lot on your plate being the breadwinner so you can't be worrying about your boss and if she is a good friend like you say, she will understand that you and the baby have to come first.

Right, just about to tackle the garden to enable my DH to put down a tonne of gravel tonight.

GibberingGinger · 21/05/2010 15:41

Congratulations Gizmo, a great weight for a 36 week baby. Glad you are both fine despite your horrible experience.

MM, c-section is planned for 37+4 for a variety of reasons, the main one being that baby 1 is breech, and the other main one is that there was so much damage left over from DD1 that another vaginal birth is unfavourable.

Rubyreins, it was indeed the "wee one" comment that made me think you were up here in Scotland.

Bump has seriously dropped now, which is causing me all sorts of problems with trousers falling down! Other than that things seem to be progressing fine. Very swollen in this heat though!

Hope everyone is well. Sympathy to all those due late in June, must be very frustrating hearing of all the impending babies knowing that there is a long way to go yet for some.

MrsAlwaysRight · 21/05/2010 15:51

Congratulations Gizmo on the arrival of your daughter. to hear of your treatment by staff.

Meggy fab news that Jimmy will be home with you this weekend

Fed up with this hot weather already. My feet are really swollen. Poor DD has been put in front of the TV so I can lounge on the sofa! Due to cool down on Tuesday though according to BBC website.

RnB · 21/05/2010 16:16

CONGRATULATIONS GIZMO!!!! So glad your beautiful daughter is here safely. Am shocked by your treatment in the hospital though

Just over a week to go for me now, am getting truly fed up now. Am praying for something to happen over the weekend!

mampam · 21/05/2010 16:56

Hi RnB how are you? Apart from being fed up that is!! I keep hoping that I might go into spontaneous labour before my ELCS on Tuesday but I was overdue with both DC so no hope of that happening. Hope you have more luck and you don't have to wait too long .

MrsAR My feet are also swollen. I can feel the skin all tight on them. Looking down on myself my feet and ankles look like they belong to an elephant Not a pretty sight.

LittleRobbo · 21/05/2010 18:26

Congratulations Gizmo oh.my.god at terrible care you recieved, however,i'm sure you will not let it overshadow your babymoon with your gorgeous daughter

So pleased you are going home with baby Jimmy tomorrow Meggy fabulous news

I have elephant feet too mampam and mrsar, strangely right after putting them in DS's paddling pool,oh well, something to add to my list of ailments

Managed to have a little bit of slap & tickle with him indoors last night, and,i actually quite enjoyed it! ok,i admit my motive was to possibly get the baby on the move, obviously didnt happen but might have another go over the weekend might.

Bbq for tea tonight yay! Have a great sunny weekend all,i'll keep logging on to see if there are any more arrivals

RubyReins · 21/05/2010 20:32

Ah! An obvious giveaway.

Hope you're all managing in the mugginess. I'm swelling up a bit now.

Completely lost all appetite now which is a bit concerning - DH is pretty much forcing food down my throat. All I want to eat is fruit but that's a banned substance owing to the GD. Still, only 5 weeks to go!

Congratulations to the ladies who have already had their arrivals! Looking forward to hearing more good news.

justbeme · 21/05/2010 21:32

Congratulations Gizmo!!
When you get home amd have a home visit from your Midwife - say you want to put in an official complaint. They didn't do an official one with me last time and it wasn't worth all the effort in the end.

Hope Jimmy has a good homecoming Meggy!

Swollen feet here too and DP being a pain in the bum!!! Don't think men realise what we're all going through at the moment.

RnB · 21/05/2010 21:42

Hey Mampam! OMG you're having an ELCS on tuesday. Blimey good luck! Sorry am totally out of touch with what's going on - is that because of the SPD? How are you feeling with all that?

I'm ok, the SPD seems to be a bit better than it was, but have had other problems with my upper back and with sciatica now (probably all connected). Just can't wait to have the baby and for all the pain to go!

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/05/2010 22:02

MrsC09 - lovely to have you back! I was worried about what had happened to you!

Thanks for sparing a thought for those of us due at the end of the month Ginger . My other 2 were due right at the beginning, so it makes a change for me to see things from the other end!

LaT - as long as you've had CP yourself already then it's no problem at all to come into contact with it.

Spent the day at the Baby Show today. Managed to resist impulse buying loads of crap, and did manage to get a selection of nappies from lollipop to try - £100 worth for £49, all of which I should be able to reclaim from my local council nappy scheme .

poguemahone · 21/05/2010 22:22

Ooh it's hotting up here (in more ways than one) isn't it! Congratulations Gizmo! And good luck Mampam you're not far off now!

I'm officially due on 27th May but my first scan gave me 1st June, so either way I'm on the home stretch.

The weirdest bit about being pregnant is the fact that I can't eat junk food. I just want a filthy big cheeseburger but I can't keep one down. (I have heroically tried 3 times now.) I'm sure it's all in my head, and I must subconsciously think I'm somehow poisoning my baby. On the plus side it's this sort of hysteria that makes me think I'm a good candidate for hypnobirthing, if only I could stay awake to listen to the whole CD.

NotGrownUpEnough · 22/05/2010 09:21

congratulations gizmo and good luck to mampan with your cs!!!

Has anyone started on rasberry leaf tea capsules? I bought some yesterday and was going to give them a whirl, was wondering what you non-first timers think of them.

Perkster - i know how you feel about always asking questions, i feel exactly the same. Scares me to think of what i would have done of hadn;t found mumsnet

mampam · 22/05/2010 09:33

RnB I'm on the countdown....3 more nights of pure pelvic agony (it's always worse at night when I lay down) and then things should start to get better. Like you I am getting back ache and sciatica but only twinges every so often, not as bad as yours seems. I've given up on my crutches now, they give me back ache so not worth it and I don't really go anywhere to use them anyway.
Having an ELCS because DS was enormous when he was born (just under 11lbs) and I had a 3rd degree tear. I've been told that if I give birth naturally and tear again I will more than likely be incontinent from my back end.
Good luck RnB, if you give birth naturally SPD may seem immediately more painful (it did for me when I had DS) but this only lasted a few days for me and things got back to normal quite quickly after that.
The end is in sight. Hooray!!!!

CSWS glad you resisted the impulse to buy a load of crap

mampam · 22/05/2010 09:36

NGUE I used Raspberry Leaf Capsules with DD much better than drinking the stuff....it's vile. I was a week late with DD, didn't use any Raspberry Leaf with DS and had to be induced after 2 weeks overdue!!!

NotGrownUpEnough · 22/05/2010 09:39

thanks mampan - i'm not a fan of fruit teas so i've gone for the capsules too. Are you nervous about the cs? It's the thing i'm most afraid of x
