OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MoggMum · 18/05/2010 15:03

first1, newmomma & james I've been getting those pains for a couple of weeks too. Like you first1 any pain down below is being welcomed now (40+2 today)!!

Heffa work have apologised for the mistake and are trying to sort it out but I could have done without the hassle. If I hadn't checked it they would never have even noticed!

newmomma · 18/05/2010 16:00

I'm not welcoming any pains as I seem to have been having them for weeks and it doesn't seem to bring anything any closer.

Sitting feeling very sorry for myself this arvo...

Have sh1tloads of ironing to do and just can't be bothered with ANYTHING. Am so knackered HOW THE HELL AM I GOING TO PUSH THIS BABY OUT???

Not that it matters - she's obviously never coming out.

Carikube · 18/05/2010 16:19

newmomma I know how you feel - DD was awake in the night from about 1am and was screaming the place down and I am absolutely knackered today.

Had a funny turn in Sainsbury's this morning - was really hoping it was contractions starting but as it was a one-off that hasn't been repeated which is a shame. DH has just got home and helpfully told me that I look really massive today...

Getting fed up of all the period-type pains that have been going on for weeks now with no result. Am now 40+4 and wondering when this one will ever put in an appearance!

Congratulations to wibblela!

newmomma · 18/05/2010 16:27

Have resorted to sitting and watching old episodes of "One Born Every Minute" and sobbing in the hope that the emotion does SOMETHING.

Did I miss Wibblela's news?? Congrats!

first1 · 18/05/2010 16:41

Well I think (i.e. really hopes) something, albeit very subtley, might be happening. From about 2pm had the funny sat-on-a-cactus feeling down there, on and off periody cramps, on and off low backache and erm a good emptying a few times . Quietly excited but no doubt be back here in a week complaining I'm still pregnant

Congrats wibblela

newmomma · 18/05/2010 16:46

WaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhHHH!

Live birth thread?!?

So exciting first1 - although thoroughly as we're meant to be due date buddies and feel like we should be doing this together... Like side-by-side hospital beds/birthing pools for example...

Keep us updated!

MoggMum · 18/05/2010 16:57

newmomma & carikube pls try not to get too as it's perfectly normal for babies to arrive at 41-42 weeks. It's only the UK that seems to put so much emphasis on the 40 week EDD. Just spoke to a friend who's baby arrived 12 days 'late' and she had absolutely no labour symptons until the day. It made me feel a bit better but I expect I'll still be tearing my hair out by next week if nothing's happened !!

first1 sounds like things might be happening for you - keep us updated!

Any news from schipo or sassles??

Congrats to wibblela

first1 · 18/05/2010 17:00

newmomma I've drunk sh1t loads of fresh orange juice, a whole carton in a few hours. This was the advice of my mum's friend. The toilet trips have no doubt been down to that, but hey if it's gonna trigger something!...

newmomma · 18/05/2010 17:10

I know I should just be patient but DS came at 38+4 so this is all new to me... I literally didn't have time to think about 'it' before as had only started maternity leave the day before I went into labour.

Off to drink the three cartons of oragne juice we have sitting in the fridge, which is supposed to be helping me absorb my iron tablets...

God knows what caused my 'toilet trips' last night but I have nothing to show for it today.

Sassles · 18/05/2010 17:16

Hi all.

Still here. Put a photo of bump from yesterday on facebook group if anyone's interested. 41 & 3 today. Think I'm officially the most overdue person on the thread now. See these first babies!

Still nothing happening at all. Nothing, zip, not a jot. Kinda worrying me now that induction will take FOREVER seeing as I have had no twinges at all.

Booked in for 1.30pm tomorrow for induction. Really wanted to go naturally in comfort of my own home, but never mind. May happen tonight, but I have also heard that pigs fly!

Is 1.30pm a weird time to book in for induction? I thought it was an overnight thing. I thing the timing may suck royally as DH will have to go home, just as things may kick off. At least hosp is only 20 mins away. Maybe things will happen quickly and we'll be in labour room before he needs to leave .

Moggmum how annoying about your work. I get paid on Friday and do not hold out much hope that HR will have got it right either. I will be scrutinising that payslip!

first1 hope that this is the start of things for you. Fingers crossed

wibblea Congrats. Looking forward to hearing birth story. squirt also, sounds like the induction took. Congrats!

MoggMum · 18/05/2010 17:35

Sassles will be sending you some positive labour vibes so things kick off for you naturally. If that doesn't work then best of luck for your induction tomorrow

AliMouse · 18/05/2010 18:08

Well I feel humbled - I'm whinging and whining and I've officially still got a week until my due date. Much sympathy to all you overdue ladies.

The weather got really hot here for about 2 hours and my legs blew up like I had elephantitis. It's rare I pray we have rubbish weather but I just hope it stays cool until we all give birth!

Hope all the sat-on-a-cactus pain and OJ drinking pays off! My 3year old DS wants me to play hide and seek now - like there is ANYWHERE in the house remotely large enough to conceal me!!

wibblela · 18/05/2010 18:20

Hi all I'm finally home Have had a nice big cup of tea and am feeling better

I haven't caught up yet on what's been happening, but I will and will post another message later with personals and full birth story.

Long and short of it, was induced on Thursday evening with 24 hour pessary - it worked a bit, after an ARM they still put me on the hormone drip at 4am! At 23.15 they decided that baby was in distress & I wasn't dilated enough and rushed me in for a C Section. DD was born at 12.22 on 16 May 2010. She is absolutely gorgeous Mind you I am biased

Will post more soon - there are already pics on FB of DD and I will put some on the FB group page.

schipo · 18/05/2010 18:59

Congratulations Wibbela, looking forward to more news. Glad that you're home already.

Sassles - ouch - sorry didn't realise. Hope you get some progress soon. Do you have a date for an induction? How long will they leave you go on for? Hope you're not in too much discomfort, you certainly look quite comfortable with your bump on fb anyway

Moggmum that's a good point I think. I was told last week that in france gestation is assumed to be 42 weeks. Also most of the birth stories I've heard from my NCT group don't involve any warning signs, no shows or waters breaking until mid labour.

I had an induction booked today for 41+5 next week just in case. I didn't get a sweep today because it seems I had one yesterday, there was certainly lots of painful poking, and that, it seems, probably triggered the show I got a few hours later. I know there are no guarantees that a show leads to a quick labour so trying to carry on as normal.

Hobnob - thanks for the reassurance re quick births for non A+ types - I'm another O+. I also hope your money is in the right place. Getting twinges but nothing that seems like anything to right home about - still waiting for the back ache first1 is getting...

Good luck to everyone else in waiting room x

pamelat · 18/05/2010 19:10

Hello all, sorry not caught up yet. Will read through later tonight whilst feeding!

Pleased to announce the safe arrival f Alexander born 1214pm yesterday (17 May) 7lbs 8oz.

Am totally in love with him already

Waters broke on Sat and went in to be induced yesterday (Monday) as despite contractions was not really getting anywhere.

At examination at 10am I was not dilated at all, despite second baby.

Was given something to "aggravate" my cervix, not even the induction and told to wait in a lounge.

Started to get contractions within an hour, 2 lots 10 mins apart, painful but was not overly worried. Next thing severe contractions every 2 minutes. No time for pain relief, gave birth 40 minutes later with gas and air thrown in at the end. I had "planned" an epidural so a bit shocked really.

Feeling a little traumatised as was so quick and they were worried about babies heart rate but it was all happening too quickly. Personally a little bit upset that they vocalised all of this whilst I was in such a panic but .... Anyway important thing is that he is fine and is here and we love him to bits!!

MoggMum · 18/05/2010 19:15

Congratulations pamelat

cupcakefairy · 18/05/2010 19:39

Hooray congratulations pamela wonderful news. Sorry it was a bit distressing but as you say, the end result is what counts!
Congrats also to wibblela! Does dd have a name? (perfectly fine if you don't want to post it on here I'm just a nosy cow )

sassles good luck for the induction. Won't dh be able to stay during the night if you're in the delivery room? I thought it was only on the wards they couldn't stay...hope he doesn't miss anything anyway!

james don't feel like a prat, it's worth getting checked and putting your mind at rest and how of her to say that about the epidural. Hope you can still get one.

schipo, first1, mogg...come on babies!! I'm also chugging the orange juice down like it's going out of fashion to help absorb iron! Luckily it's been on offer in Morrisons & Tesco recently

Sassles · 18/05/2010 19:43

Congratulations pamelat and wibblela! schipo alimouse I'm just grumbling now, but really can't complain as I have only started to feel pretty uncomfy today. Had a glorious pregnancy whole way through and bump is really not too bad as per FB group picture. Absolutely feel free to grumble even if not at due date. Everyone has diff pregnancy. I've just had it too easy and baby far too comfy. More fed up now as just ready to get on with things as opposed to any major discomfort.

Getting everything organised tonight in hospital bag etc and packing books and DS for the long haul. That's a nintendo DS though, not a normal mumsmnet meaning of DS although plan to have one of those over next few days

At least the induction thing means we have time to make sure we have everything.

Sassles · 18/05/2010 19:45

x post Thanks cupcake* Yes he should be able to stay if in delivery room, but hoping we get there before he has to leave. S x

cupcakefairy · 18/05/2010 19:51

List update
There are so many we haven't heard from in ages!! There must be more babies!

first1 · 18/05/2010 20:05

Just a little update..it's all gone bloody quiet!! Just choked down some haagen dazs to make myself feel better. I want the pains back!!!

rachelfruitloop · 18/05/2010 20:22

CONGRATULATIONS Pamelat and Wibblela!!! First1 I am about to join you on the ice cream eating!

Sassles Good luck with your induction! With my DS I was booked for an induction and my waters broke in hospital whilst I was waiting to be seen by the MW, so maybe yours will happen at the very last second, too! Love the FB pic!

No signs here either. Just the usual braxton Hicks and discharge ... I go in for a sweep on Thurs so we'll see what happens!

Bit scatterbrained this evening, but will keep checking for more birth announcements!

sweetkitty · 18/05/2010 20:47

Evening ladies wow it is hard to keep up with this thread

pamelat - congrats on the birth of Alexander another very fast birth too

wibbela - congrats on the birth of your little girl I think I now the name but don't want to put it on MN in case you don't want it there but it's very pretty

rachel - labour vibes coming your way

sassles - best of luck for tomorrow as you say at least you can have everything planned, hope you go like most on this thread - fast. With me I had to go in at 8pm the night before to be "assessed" if my cervix was favourable they would send me home again and bring me back in the morning to break waters (the point???) if not it was a dose of the gel and reassess in morning, as you know the gel kicked me off, fingers crossed for you too

first1 - hope the pains come back, the stabbing pains sound normal IME too

hobnob etc - I am O+ and my longest labour was 4h 20m from "I think I have just peed myself" to baby out

squirtsmum - oh just remembered congratulations what a weight I think you are winning now

hollyoaks - oh I didn't even try ANY kickstarting methods this time, this was for number 2 aka 12 days late baby

kateyjane quite a birth story there poor Thomas and you, your family are gorgeous BTW, we WILL get these babies into sleeping more at night, the thing is by no4 you know it's not forever

Well today was my first day of flying solo and by about 10am I think I needed a valium or a stiff drink. Jacob was up at 12, 3 and 5am, 5am he was up for 2 hours just staring about and fussing a bit. So I was up since 5am argh. Getting into nursery with the car seat, DD3 who is 22 mo and 4yo DD2 was erm fun, came out and some person had blocked me in (my car is huge why park close to it) so had to do a 28 point turn, nearly hit a car in the Asda car park, then my friends little girl opened the door when we were on a roundabout, toddlers was OK, then we had the health visitor today which was fine actually. She invited me to the BFing support group, if you go theres a creche for olders, they make you tea and toast and best of all you get vouchers for 2 hours free ironing or cleaning a week! Actually WALKED to school today too.

Anyway am hoping to go to bed quite soon so am sending loads of labour vibes in the hope some of you go overnight.

pigleychez · 18/05/2010 21:13

Trying to catch up! Ive been lurking but something pops up or someone wants something everytime I go to post!

Gils- Really hoping something happens for you soon.

Rachel- So sorry to hear about your grandpa

Squirtsmum- Congratulations What a big one

Cupcake- Soon It seems funny that Lucys due date is tomorrow.

Wibblea- Congratulations, glad your home

Moggmum- How annoying about the money

Pamlet- Congratulations

SK- glad the first day went ok, despite being abit stressful.

Announcement on FB from MinnieMummy... She had 'little' girl this morning at 8.31. 10lbs 11ozs!!

Everyone in the waiting room- Good luck, not too much longer i promise

Everything is fine here...So incredible sore downstairs though! Sitting down can be agony! Having regular tea tree oil baths hoping to sooth it abit. Tummy feels very strange which im guessing is it going back to normal size.
Today my milk has come in and my god my boobs are HUGE!! Really sore and full. Any tips to soothe them anyone?
BF has taken a bit of a nose dive too... I have pretty flat nipples which hindered things last time but seemed to be ok this time round but now my boobs are so full theres nothing there for her to latch onto. Ive been expressing and shes been having it that way but really struggling. Hoping that when they calm down she will be able to latch on easier again. Again.. any tips??

DH put up DD's playhouse today and it looks fantastic! She absolutely loves it! and thankfully the weather looks good for the rest of the week so she can be out playing with it

Looking forward to more announcements!!

Carikube · 18/05/2010 21:27

Congratulations pamelat! Pigley I have a similar problem and with DD I was always told to try hand-expressing a bit before starting a feed just to get the engorgement down so that the nipples were more prominent. There's also a thing made by Lansinoh called Latch Assist which may help - I haven't tried it though so I can't tell you if it works. I ended up giving up bf DD at 6 weeks as I was having so many problems and I'm really hoping that this time things work better...

Moggmum I know I shouldn't get worked up about going overdue (as they kept reminding us at antenatal, due date should really be anywhere between 37 and 42 weeks). It's just that DD was a bit early so we have had MIL and then my parents staying with us for nearly 2 weeks now so they can look after DD when I go in to labour and all I can think about is that they were also supposed to be helping out postnatally and I'll miss out on most of this help. Also my parents leave on Mon and MIL comes back and I really want my parents to see LO before they go (and also MIL is useless at looking after me).

Just heard another friend had her baby recently - forceps delivery and the LOs collar bone got broken during delivery so they had to stay in for a week...I'm so glad the forceps with DD didn't cause any problems....
