Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
lizzie9442 · 15/05/2010 07:31

morning everyone, sorry not posted recently but internet not been working.

congratulations to the new arrivals!

I had my little baby daughter on saturday 8th may at 9.01pm. Have named her Louise and she weighed 10 pounds! Told you she was going to be big. I started contractions saturday lunch time. They were very irregular and not that strong. Anyway about 5pm went to the hospital. They examied me and said nothing was happening and I would probably need to go home. I went for a walk around the hospital and when i went back about half 6 contractions were coming really strong and quick. I just had gas and air and was pushing her out before I knew it. i had quite alot of bleeding as the cervix had to be pushed the last bit as it wouldn't open so the midwife had to do it. Her head came out and then her shoulders got a bit stuck had to really push otherwise would of needed intervention. It still only took me 6 minutes to push her out. Because it was so quick she was quite bruised on the face. But what a relief when she was born! It was a real shock at first even though I knew i was pregnant still didn't quite believe it. I was all cleaned up and then I was back at home by 2am in the morning. Baby is doing well but she constantly wants to feed. i am breast feeding. Finding it hard as she only gos short times between feeds. I need her to go about 3 - 4 hours really as its hard to do anything especially with other kids. My dh has two weeks off work though so he has been helping loads. He has one week left till he goes back which i'm dreading as been really nice having him around. A quick question for anyone suffering with spd, I still have it really badly and if anything it seems to be getting worse, Is this normal and how long till it should get better? sorry for the long post xxxx

AnAngelWithin · 15/05/2010 08:44

congrats to lizzy and kateyjane

Feeling very sorry for myself today. I think the baby has dropped. I can barely walk. Single figures now...9 days til due date. The DCs are getting very excited. I am struggling in a way to share the enthusiasm, just at the point now I wish it would come out cos I'm fed up!! DH has gone to work, he left just after 7 Not sure what time he will be home. Bet I will get bombarded by the inlaws who muct think there is no way in the world I could ever cope

Congratulations Lizzie and KateyJane

Just a quick update, according to fb Pigley is in labour

pamelat · 15/05/2010 09:28

Congrats to Lizzie and KatieJane and good luck pigley!!!

Only popped on quickly as its DD's swimming lesson and I had promised I would go and watch. DH takes her. Been trying to fit in lots of "last times" before baby arrives. Although to be fair to her she seems quite excited about him arriving

Am a bit worried how big this baby will be as the 37 week scan showed 6lb 10, which was over 3 weeks ago! DD was 7lbs so I reckon he will top that.

Will pop back later for personals.

Oh mentioned to DH about DTD and he not impressed!!

SquirtsMum · 15/05/2010 10:11

Lizzy and kateyjane - congratulations

xxxx

KaffaCakes · 15/05/2010 10:31

Congrats to Lizzie and kateyjane! And if you pop in pigley good luck!

After all my 'twinges' yesterday it turns out I am in labour! Woke up at 2am with contractions every 4-5 minutes so called the labour ward and they're full! So we were sent to the nearest MLU (about ten miles away). Have been assessed and still in very early stages but very positive- effacing etc. All good news two days before due date. Just waiting for longer contractions- they're only lasting 30 seconds or so at the moment. So far the pain is not so bad at all, back ache is combatted with hot water bottle and bath so far.

Will keep you all posted!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 15/05/2010 10:41

Hello all, bet I'll forget everything i wanted to say now. Congrats to lizzie and kateyjane, and best of luck Pigley, hope it's all going smoothly!

ML, we got back in the saddle three weeks after having ds, basically as soon as the bleeding stopped and the stitches had settled. I was actually up for it just a couple of days afterward but obviously we couldn't do anything about it! I blame temporary insanity, as I hadn't been able to move/walk properly for the last 30 weeks with crippling spd, so as soon as I could...

I should add for any first timers though, that I couldn't feel a damn thing (didn't regain full sensation down there for about 6 months) ML it's just my opinion but I would probably wait til the bleeding was over though as it's not the same cause as period bleeding is it, and you need to make sure you're fully healed, especially after your eventful pregnancy!

Lizzie, my SPD was awful first time round and after the birth a lot of the immediate symptoms went, but it clung on, the first week of recovering after the birth I was very achy around the hips and it was hard to sleep for the aching. To be honest mine didn't ever fully go, as in a long walk, or shuffling on my knees two years on would bring it on again. It was worse while I was bf though, I think you don't fully get rid of the relaxin hormone til you've stopped bf. Sorry you're suffering! It's only been a week though, you may feel better once the exertions of the birth have calmed down. Make sure you're taking it as easy as you can. By the way, 10lb! wow

I don't really know much about my mum's labours as she passed away a few years back so I can't ask. I remember her saying that with one of her births they didn't believe she was as far on as she was, so they told her to stop being silly, gave her some sleeping pills and left the ward. She said that as the doors were still swinging shut, the baby was born, and she rang the bell and fell asleep.

Well I had an annoying night, TMI alert. I read that putting an evening primrose oil capsule next to your cervix before bed can help it soften, so I tried it. Not recommended!! It melted and leaked out so I kept waking up to a horrible wet bum every hour or so! Won't be doing that again. The daft things we do, eh?

Hope you're all having a good weekend and keeping busy!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 15/05/2010 10:44

Best of luck kaffacakes, glad it's not too bad so far. Try to keep mobile, remember to eat, drink and wee lots! You'll be fine.

Hobnobfanatic · 15/05/2010 11:08

Congrats Katey and Lizzie - it's soooo exciting to read everyone's stories and to welcome new babies! Hope you're both feeling okay and enjoying the special early days.

Lizzie - my SPD is much better, apart from the pubic bone. That still kills me and I struggle to stand initially after being sat or lying down. Breastfeeding is meant to prolong a return to normal, cos of the hormones. This prob explains why, with my first DD, whom I BF until she was 2.5yo, it went on for years afterwards!

Like you, my DD is feeding all the time - little and often. She falls asleep and won't stir to fiinish a full feeed, Then, half an hour later, she's up for more... I need her tum to grow!

Lizzie - well done on a 10lber! You've taken the crown from me- until now I had the biggest baby on the thread! Almost 9lb was tough to carry and push out; 10lb - wow! You have full bragging rights for years and years to come!

sweetkitty · 15/05/2010 11:14

Oh it's all happening here

best of luck to pigley and kaffacakes heres to speedy labours and holding babies soon

lizzie - congratulations on the birth of Louise sounds very speedy and 10lbs too. The breastfeeding sounds about normal for a newborn sorry, Jacob can go 4 hours at night but 2-3 hours is about normal. My SPD is still kicking about as well. One of my friends has a 4 mo and she is still suffering.

kateyjane - congratulations and welcome to Thomas as well I bet you are glad to be home

James - yuck on the evening primrose but I can understand your frustration

angel - sorry you are feeling down hope you manage to have a semi-nice day, the last week or so is hell without even going overdue

ML - I think I get so battered as mine seem to shoot out too fast. DP said one minute there was nothing next minute a head followed by a body, DD2 is the only one I haven't tore with.

I am taking Jacob to dancing today as a few of my friends have been asking to see him, apart from that waiting for MW visit, she came yesterday but we were at toddlers, she usually comes about 4ish as well, bet she comes today when we are out, I hate waiting in for people all day though.

sweetkitty · 15/05/2010 11:15

hobnob - x posts Jacob does that as well, I am cruel though I will change him to ake him back up then feed him again to top him up.

AnAngelWithin · 15/05/2010 11:16

good luck kaffa x

rachelfruitloop · 15/05/2010 11:25

Congratulations to Lizzie and Katey, well done both of you!!!!!! Can't wait for updates from Pigley and Kaffa, good luck girls!!!

My mum has told me that my grandpa (who has been in intensive care in hospital with pneumonia for 3 weeks) has taken a turn for the worse and will have the breathing support taken away and most likely won't pull through. I am feeling very upset about this as I was always very close with him and was hoping he'd be around to meet his second grandson. Feeling a bit tense and emotional in general, not sure if it's just my grandpa or maybe a sign of things to come ...

Still enjoying my MIL but now there are little niggles coming up between her and DH. He'll be off work for 7 weeks starting tomorrow, so I'm hoping it gets better and not worse! I am getting set to have an outburst, methinks!

Sorry for the selfish post. Have that feeling of hiding inside myself, and hoping that means that labour is imminent.

rachelfruitloop · 15/05/2010 11:52

Sorry, meant to say I was hoping my grandpa would be around to meet his second great-grandson.

April80 · 15/05/2010 12:09

quick post..according to fb..Pigley had her baby at 9.30 am

sweetkitty · 15/05/2010 13:01

Huge congratulations to itshappenedagain and pigleychez

I know pigley was really anxious about going overdue and having another hard labour but looks like she had a fast one and a baby girl too

Gils · 15/05/2010 13:14

Hi congrats to all the new arrivals.

Ended up heading into hospital last night. Back pain got very bad and started having contractions about 5 mins apart. typically on way through in car it all calmed down.

Examined and waters are bulging and I am 4cm dilated. Kept me in cause they thought it might all kick of again and had very quick labour with DD but nothing happened overnight so was discharged at 10. Cervix still needs some thining but hoping baby will be here soon.

Had terrible nigts sleep (or lack of) last night so came home all showered and hoping for nap at in laws today in case it kicks of again later.

Had few niggles today and more bckpain so fingers crossed

memorylapse · 15/05/2010 13:32

now grabbing the chance to post properly whilst Olivia is still asleep..

HV came and weighed her on weds and she is now 7lb 12 so is a pound heavier..HV says thats a nice weight gain in 4 weeks as she did lose a lot of weight in the first week.

Consultant actually phoned yesterday which I was very surprised about..it seems that the cyst on my placenta was a sub chorionic cyst..it may or may not be related to the haematoma I had..but it can be harmful if it loactes where the cord inserts into the placenta but mine didnt..however it causes growth restriction so consultant suspects that the cyst was the cause of my wobbly blood sugars and Olivia weighing less than expected..she was honest enough to say that if it had burst..Olivia would not have made it ..but pointed out that I was in hospital being well monitored it wouldnt have happened..didnt really reassure me and I had a weepy day yesterday..however she is here and safe..and I now know that my gut instinct was right all along..I was not happy that all was well and I was right..

Kaffa..good luck, looking forward to hearing your baby news

Hollyoaks..enjoy your ML..put your feet up as much as you can..

Lizzie..huge congrats and wow what a big girl!

April80..many congratulations to you too

James..Im the same in that after my horrific pegnancy..I feel great and am happy to get going again1..but I need to accept that my body isnt quite ready..even if the mind is willing..and certainly dont want a horrible infection too..... evening primrose..sounds a bit messy!

Hobnob..Olivia is a snacky feeder too..its quite tiring really but Im cruel and pop her onto to her changing mat and change her nappy..she soon wakes up

SK..Olivia shot out too..Ive actually discovered that she was not actually delivered but just flew out and landed on the bed!..however being only 6lb odd..she probably didnt touch the sides.as I dont think Ive ever recovered from having DS2!

Rachel..so sorry to hear about your grandpa..please dont lose faith though..stranger things have happened and sometimes people pull through when least expected..I know its very unmumsnetty but I think you deserve a hug..or at the very least a manly kind of pat on the back..take some time out for you today I have a feeling your baby is not far away

pamelat · 15/05/2010 14:53

Congrats to pigley and april, 2 more beautiful little girls, many congrats. Pigley, how quick?!!

Good luck Kaffa

Kaffa, am a bit worried that I may also be in very early labour, after same "signs" as you yesterday, today the mild contractions continue and the pressing down and sharpness goes on but nothing is hurting. Anyone would think I hadnt done this before but with DD it was agonising from start to finish, am assuming I dont need to go anywhere/call anyone until it hurts?!

Good luck to Gils too.

Rachel, am very sorry about your grandpa. What rubbish timing. I have been to "visit" my grandma and grandads ashes this afternoon and had a little cry. I lost my grandma, who was very close to, and my grandad, also close, a few months back. I am so sad that they will not get to meet DS. I went to have a little chat and to tell them that.

wish they were still here.

rachel/pamelat - sorry to hear about your Granpa and pamelat your loss. I think a new baby is such an emotional time and makes you think of people you have lost. My Gran died the month before I found out I was pregnant with DD1 which was hard then last year MIL suddenly dying quite young a month before I got pregnant again. It's like there is a huge gap in our family now and we have hardly any family, it's a shame the DC have no doting Granma's around (and a shame for DP and I as we never get a break or a helping hand)

ML - that is scary about the placenta but you have Olivia now and boy she has had a fight to get here. Love the not touching the sides thing, Jacob certainly did touch the sides and then some!

pamelat/Gils - oh hope it is the start of things for you both this thread is SO exciting, I am driving DP mad going "pigley had her baby today" he's like "who?"

Have had a rubbish Saturday I was going to take Jacob to meet some friends whilst the big two went dancing so and getting the girls all ready and they have always lost some bit of dancing gear so it's stressful then of course the MW calls so DP had to take DD2. It wasn't the useless one but the crabby one who then woke Jacob up to weigh him (he's back to his birth weight of 8lbs 5ozs) apparently they don't weigh babies now as there is so much confusion over weight loss so the MWs don't do it but she said since he hadn't been weighed since birth and was now 10 days old she would She then said about me changing his nappy as it was "wringing wet" well he was sound asleep, do you wake a sleeping baby now to check his nappy and change it? Oh it was just so tick in the box not really interested type of thing. Am glad that's me signed off now will probably get a useless health visitor now.

Right moan over sending speedy labour vibes to all of you on the brink!

Rachel - so sorry to hear about your grandpa

Blimey Memorylapse - what a close call! Little Olivia really is a miracle baby - she's clearly made of stern stuff to have survived all the odds.

Well, my little bundle has been weighed today, day 5, and far from losing any weight has piled it on. She's gone from 8lb 14.5 to 9lb 4oz!

My poor boobs are still engorged and I'm going through cabbage leaves like there's no tomorrow..

Gils - good luck! It shows how different labours can be. I can't believe you're 4cm and able to type. At 4cm I was climbing the walls and was half an hour from the pushing stage. I can't imagine what it's like to have a long, leisurely, relaxed labour - mine have all been intense and agony from start to finish - but over very, very quickly. We'll all have to compare notes at the end on our different times for the stages etc.

Oh, and postnatal ladies - have those who had heartburn had hairy babies? As I thought, I have another baldy!
