OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Hollyoaks · 05/05/2010 14:23

Yeah, congratulations SK and Jacob and Five and Florence. Well done to both of you and hope Five is ok.

Got my blood results and all my liver function ones came back fine . Midwife was more informative and said it sounds like severe bruising to my liver or an inflamed gall bladder, she didn't think it was muscular due to its one-sided location. Felt reassured by her much more than gp. Lo is still 2/5ths engaged (can it get any more engaged before coming out?), BP is still low and I'm bang on dates size-wise. I'm also only in moderate bearable pain today too at the minute.

Carikube - poor dd, at least you remembered yours

Alex - good luck with your induction tomorrow.

30ish - I took make-up in last time but never used it, I was knackered and no amount of foundation would have made me look any better. Ignore the tactless comments or hope that your dh can keep your mil at bay. I'll be packing it again this time in the vague hope I will be feeling better after this one.

Itshappened - glad you got to sit your exam, hope your appointments go well and lo'd dad turns up.

memorylapse · 05/05/2010 14:29

forgot to add congrats to Five

30ish · 05/05/2010 15:07

Congratulations Five and SK - wonderful news and beautiful names! I hope everything goes well with the scan!

Wondering whether some of the other May ladies have already had their babies but haven't had time to post yet - life gets so hectic with a new baby!

I normally just lurk on this thread but it seems so quiet on here at the moment that I feel the need to post!

Den26 · 05/05/2010 15:37

CONGRATULATIONS Five and SK!! Both names are lovely.

Five - hope you are ok
SK - glad to hear all ok with you and Jacob

Hollyoaks - glad your appointment was a positive one, sorry you're in pain

KatnKankles · 05/05/2010 15:42

Yey to Sk and five Been waiting for SK's announcement, so plkeased for you xxx

Congrats on your babies.. gorgeous names too.

I'm still lurking about, I check this thread most nights but never seem to have anything interesting to add.

39 weeks today, had loads of irrecular contractions at the weekend but they stopped. Got a feeling this one is going to go overdue like my 2 girls (both 6 days).

Really hope I'm wrong! SPD is driving me mad at night and this baby is so low I can feel her pressing on my bum (tmi)... mw on Friday so we'll see what she has to say.

Hugs to everyone waiting xxx

rachelfruitloop · 05/05/2010 15:43

Hooray! Congratulations to SK and Five!!! SK, so glad it went well!! Five, hope you are feeling better soon!

brightredballoon · 05/05/2010 16:00

Congratulations SWEETKITTY so glad you are home so soon, well done

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 05/05/2010 16:12

Congratulations SK and Five! Beautiful names

Hollyoaks - glad your MW was able to reassure you but sorry you're still suffering

I went in for a consultant appointment this morning to check my BP and discuss delivery next week only to discover that LO has gone from being head-down (for the last 10 weeks) to being oblique . Along with everything else they strongly advised a C-Section as soon as possible so I'm booked in for Friday morning. Had all my pre-op stuff done there and then so LO will be here on Friday. Very excited but a little confused - wasn't expecting that at all!

largeginandtonic · 05/05/2010 16:14

Huge congratulations Sweetkitty How utterely fabulous, a gorgeous little boy and speedy delivery. Lovely name Jacob (I have one of those!)

Apols for hijack ladies.

peakyispreggers · 05/05/2010 16:22

SK how wonderful, a beautiful boy with a fab name, and so quickly too! Congratulations.
Five Sorry to hear you are having a rough time of it, hope things improve quickly and you can enjoy the lovely florence.
Heffa Friday is the day! not long now...how exciting for you, if unexpected.
Fingers crossed for all the overdue ladies xx

rachelfruitloop · 05/05/2010 16:38

Heffa isn't that funny, after all the going back and forth trying to decide whether or not to have a CS!!! Good luck for Friday, that is very exciting!!! I see the midwife tomorrow, and had the thought, what if something has changed and they want to book me in for a CS?! I think because I debated for so long as well, if I ended up having a CS I'd be fine with it (once the shock wore off!) How are you feeling about it?

memorylapse · 05/05/2010 16:43

TCH..that must have been a shock that the little monkey has moved...looks like the decision has been made for you...just think..you will have your LO in your arms by friday evening

pamelat · 05/05/2010 17:01

Congratulations SK and Five

Both lovely names.

Heffa good luck for Friday. Are you pleased that the decision has been made for you or frustrated?

Am back from my 39 week appointment. Baby has stayed head down after the ECV but his head is not engaged at all. They said not to worry as its a second baby but am still a bit

They also say he has grown a lot in a week from 30% to 50% percentile ??!!! Surely they are just measuring differently not that he is perhaps stretched out a bit more?

My blood pressure is too high again. Bottom number varies between 87 and 90. I am slightly cross as they make me feel its somehow my fault (have always had low blood pressure). Midwife said was I making sure that I rest etc etc, but I really am doing!! I will have DD tomorrow and Friday, they should try taking it then

Anyway, brilliant news on our new arrivals. Hope everyone is ok.

schipo · 05/05/2010 17:28

Heffa - friday - that's two days away!

Good luck! Hope you're not too upset by the plan. Personally I think the photos of Forces' Molly on fb would be enough to make me happy about having a csection.

Any more babies today?

MoggMum · 05/05/2010 17:45

Congrats SK & Five - hope you're both recovering well and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks to those who advised re Sterlisers - I bought the TT Electric Steam one from Asda for £20 (reduced from £35) so really pleased.

Just waiting for the next new arrival announcement now

Hollyoaks · 05/05/2010 17:48

Heffa -exciting times Hope your not too disappointed by cs.

Carikube · 05/05/2010 18:39

Carikube · 05/05/2010 18:40

Ooh, just realised from doing the update that five was due the same day as me...makes it all feel that much closer now!

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 05/05/2010 20:01

It was definitely a bit of a shock after all the discussions I've had with doctors about mode of delivery and my blood pressure, previous tear etc, it's a bit weird to find that the baby has made the decision for me. I'm feeling quite positive about it though and looking forward to cuddling up with LO on Friday. Feeling a bit wobbly about having to leave DD to go into hospital though but I think that's just hormones.

Thanks for updating the list Carikube, our arrivals are mounting up

Gils · 05/05/2010 20:31

Congrats SK and Five, sorry you have experienced so many difficulties five

Twentieth, So nice to know you will be cuddling up to your lo on Friday!! I feel the same with DD. Think DH is same keep panicking about how DD will cope. Her toilet training and bedtime have already started to suffer, think its approaching arrival

Hollyoaks - sorry your still in pain but glad its not as bad as first thought

Had a few pains today. Keep getting shooting pains through back and have to stop walking etc. DH back to work tomorrow so unless I get a surprise arrival tonight hope I hold on to till due date. So hopeful of early arrival but was 11 days late with DD

Congrats all, looking forward to more announcements

kateyjane · 05/05/2010 20:36

SK and Five - Massive congratulations on your new arrivals! Absolutely gorgeous names. Sorry to hear you're having a bad time five, hope the CT scan goes well. SK hope all Jacob's big sisters are very proud

Hollyoaks - Glad you had the day off, hope you are feeling a bit better for a rest.

carikube/Schipo - I've bought 12 of the bumgenious pocket nappies and 6 flip wraps with stay dry inserts and then some of the disposable ones as well for days out/holidays etc. Carikube - don't think it will be long before I become obsessed I also bought 2 sets of the cheeky monkey reusable wipes - they are fantastic, don't know why I haven't been using them for the last 8 years!

LuckyC - Had forgotten what newborn poo is like! I also found Fairy liquid to be quite effective.

30ish - at your MIL's comments, I think I would have replied with a few choice words! Like pamelat I will just be taking lip gloss

Alex - Good luck for tomorrow - wishing you speedy vibes

Angel - Know what you mean about the comments - very glad that the end is in sight

Itshappened - Glad the exam went well. Hope you enjoy your haircut and wax

Heffa - Hope Friday goes really well - only 2 days till you get your first cuddle!

Littleonemum - Just realised I never congratulated you on the arrival of Lux. What a fab name, hope everything is going well

Well I've still got backache - but I think it may have been because of spring cleaning the house over the weekend!
For those of you potty training at the moment, I think you're doing brilliantly! My DS had been dry during the day for 6 months and suddenly it's all gone a bit wrong! He's also started waking up during the night wanting a cuddle, after sleeping through from 3 months. Think it must be his way of showing anxiety about the new arrival, at least he is getting lots of 1:1 time in the mornings, something that he has never really had. Do feel for him as he is used to being the 'baby' of the family. His big sisters love him to bits.

Very excited about seeing more announcements over the next few days. Good luck everybody

cupcakefairy · 05/05/2010 20:40

Yay! Congrats to SK and Five, lovely to have more babies
Five hope you recover swiftly

LuckyC as someone already said, sunlight is amazing for bleaching out stains so here's hoping for more of that lovely sunshine!! (Or less poo )

heff amazing that lo will be here Friday but yes you must feel quite overwhelmed by the turnaround!

Met up with my diminishing NCT group today, those of us still pregnant! Just so want to meet my little one now! But still nothing. Definitely too comfy in there! I think I need to find a willing newborn to hold and stimulate all that oxytocin!!

alle has gone quiet...

sweetkitty · 05/05/2010 21:16

Evening all a bit refreshed after a good bath, sitting on a cushion, for anyone who is interested here is my birth story:

So after spending months deciding between another homebirth or an induction we went with induction at term due to the SPD and the previous fast labours (I was terrified of going into labour on my own with the DDs there and no DP). So induction day arrived and I was really scared, after having 2 straightforward births the premeditated nature of this one was freaking me out. We arrived at the hospital at 8pm last night, then there was a lot of hanging about whilst they took my blood pressure, put the baby on the CTG which was hard as I had to lie still on my back for a while. I was told that if my cervix was favourable they would send me home to return in the morning to break my waters if not I would have prostin gel and remain in a ward overnight. Cervix was about 1cm although the trace revealed I was having regular tightenings. Had the gel which was painful, DP went home and tried to get some sleep. At about 2am was awakened by some painful BHs, it was only when I was biting the pillow so not to wake anyone that I thought this might be it. Being a 4th timer they took me seriously and I was moved to the delivery suite. Contractions were very regular and painful but was fine on the G&A. DP came back in. At about 4 I asked the MW to examine me and possible break my waters, she said she would only do it if I were fully dilated, I was begging her to do it as I knew that if they went I would get the urge to push after that. I was 7cms and she agreed to break my waters, the contraction after that was way more painful. I felt him move down and the inevitable ring of fire, it was at this point I think I screamed that I was going to die 7 mins after waters going my beautiful boy was born. He was put on my chest and covered up as requested, cord was cut after about 10 mins and I delivered the placenta naturally after about 50 mins. Had a second degree tear that required some stitches but got very high on gas and air. DP and I kept looking between his legs in disbelief but he really is a boy.

The hospital birth was OK, was seen by 6 different MWs and they messed up my afterpain painkillers a bit, felt like they left me to it a bit and everything seemed to take forever and a lot of unnecesary hanging about. Was nowhere near as good as a HB but it was not a bad experience.

Never ever again though

sweetkitty · 05/05/2010 21:30

Thanks everyone for the messages, I cannot believe he is actually here, he is gorgeous and we are all smitten, DD3 keeps going over to him and saying "aww baby and nite nites" the other two are just besotted with him too.

Although I am v sore I think from the stirrups and actually giving birth not to mention the undercarriage, it feels lovely to be rid of the huge hard bump and I can feel the SPD going as well.

It was funny to see all those BHs on the CTG trace (never had one before) you have got to think that they are doing something ladies.

Gils - hope the twinges are the start of something for you

pamelat - glad LO has stayed head down, wouldn't worry DD2 didn't engage at all until she was 2 mins from being born, still had a 2 1/2 hour labour.

Heffa - good news about the CSection, at least it will all be over with and you will have your baby safe and sound

hollyoaks - glad your tests came back fine too

ML - yes about 3 hours which is good for an induction, only needed one gel so I must have been primed and ready to go although my cervix wasn't doing anything. Funny thing is we were joking that I have babies at 4 in the morning, that's 4.22am, 4am, 4.25am and 4.52am

Right ladies I will be logging in to see if there are any more May babies, am off to cuddle up in bed and BF Jacob, he wasn't that interested in feeding earlier today so we were waking him up with nappy changes every 2 hours but he latched on quite well tonight.

brightredballoon · 05/05/2010 21:36

Heffa good luck for Friday. I am still on a high after having an elective csection, I found it such a calm experience (if a bit surreal!) and I am sure that is what has made my recovery 100 times better than my previous csection.

congratulations five, love the name Florence

Rachel glad you googled! I accidentally missed some ** out (button sticks).

Hope everyone else is ok, sorry my posts are so brief
