memorylapse · 04/05/2010 09:49

alle..yay..keeping fingers crossed for you

Five..hope everything is going ok for you

Its my due date today...Id even written it on the calendar..(ages ago when I was about 6 months pregnant)..seems very strange to think that Olivia should still have been in my tummy...she slept much better last night..fed at 11, then slept till 3..fed at 3 ish..fussed a bit..needed a nappy change..finally got her down at 4.30..then slept till 7 when DH woke her and fed her..she is still asleep now, although is munching in her sleep...DH does the 11 o clock feed and I go to bed about 10, then I do the middle of the night one and he does the morning one..he is getting the better end of the deal..but he does have to go to work...we will swap tonight as he is off work tomorrow

MoggMum · 04/05/2010 10:02

ML Sounds like you've got the feeding routine sussed already Are you expressing for DH feeds or using formula?

Good luck to all those experiencing signs of impending labour - very excited to hear of the next new arrival

memorylapse · 04/05/2010 10:30

moggmum..Ive been expressing...so I feel like a cow at the moment!

still think DH is getting the better end of the deal

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 04/05/2010 10:37

Alexw - good luck! Hope it all gets going soon.

Hollyoaks - that you're feeling so stressed, I don't blame you under those conditions. I hope the GP is able to reassure you, please don't let them fob you off if you're concerned.

Pigley - congratulations to your sis, must be a bit of a shock. DD uses my bump as a slide as well, although for herself

MoggMum · 04/05/2010 10:54

ML I am actually quite impressed that your DH is getting so involved in the feeding already (even though he gets the easier ones!). Will have to show my DH your thread in the hope that he does the same

mustbemadno3 · 04/05/2010 11:12

oh my god just wrote along list of personals and lost it....i hate this laptop!

start again

cant remember whos going to g.p (sorry) but good luck and I hope they dont fob you off you have every right to be worried after loosing you nephew. Fingers crossed its o.k

sassles i would imagine they would want to do a sweep? But the decision would be yours. Dignity in pregnancy and labour...whats that!! No im joking, they will cover you up and the prodding etc is never as bad as you imagine. I panic over a smear test and when there over I think what was I panicking about!

pigley congrats to your sis, hopefully she will bond better with baby number 2 as shes had one before?

Good luck to everyone whos seems to be showing signs of labour, sounds like there will be some babies shortly.

Also thankyou to all those supportive comments re my mum, it is hard and an emotional time. I have seen a couple of psychics who have told me this baby is a gift from the spirit world and a gift from my mum. I like to believe that anyway.

I am still having slimy discharge and this morning it had blood in it. If its still happening tommorow I will ring hospital because if I ring today and they start prodding then I know it will kick things off and I need to hold off until tommorow morning!
Having said that I will prob be 2 weeks late!

sweetkitty · 04/05/2010 11:16

Had a text from five to say she felt like a plane in a holding area and still hadn't had her waters broken as they delivery suite was too busy, she sounded really fed up and said it was pointless her going in yesterday. Hope she gets treated better today. Does not make me feel hopeful about tonight!

Been out this morning bought some more Spatone, vitamins, apricots, a lovely blue teddy, loads of magazines and chocolate for the hospital, this feels SO weird planning it all out. Have just washed kitchen floor and am dusting.

newmomma · 04/05/2010 11:17

Ragggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Just got back from 38 weeks appointment to be told the doctor thinks the baby is breech AGAIN!

And that now it would be too late for an ECV - even though I requested weekly scans after we went in for the last ECV, two week ago, to be told there was very little chance of baby turning the wrong way round again. Frickin' midwife.

So now have a scan on Thursday and then if no ECV, a caesarean. Boo. Back to stress city.

Sorry for selfish post.

first1 · 04/05/2010 11:46

Blimey, I was so hopeful that I'd keep up this time round, but since I rejoined you chatty ladies there's been about a bizillion posts! I'm afraid I don't have time to write loads of personals but just looking at the most recent..

newmomma - sorry LO has turned back again, try not to get too stressed out (obviously very dificult not to I know) until your scan. Hopefully baby just decided to have a laugh for a minute and will turn back again!

sweetkitty - I'm assuming you're having an induction tonight? Or have I got that totally wrong!? If not good luck!

Quick bulletin and selfish post about moi. Last week GP thought my pelvis was too small as baby wasn't and has never made an effort to engage. Saw consultant Friday who gave me a long list of pros and cons about ELCS for fear of me having CPD. Am going back to GP tomorrow and hopefully baby has dropped a bit, otherwise need to make a decision for the obstetricians by Friday about whether I want to trial labour first or book in for ELCS to begin with. Dammit small pelvis

Hobnobfanatic · 04/05/2010 11:51

What's CPD?

first1 · 04/05/2010 11:56

cephalo-pelic disproportion (! stupid name). Basically pelvis too small/narrow and it causes obstruction which stops baby's head descending. Apparently it can't be properly diagnosed until you're in the depths of labour, but I've been given a choice to trial labour first (which does run risks) and see or go for ELCS.

first1 · 04/05/2010 11:56

*pelvic

schipo · 04/05/2010 12:11

OMG - it's getting all very exciting - and nerve racking!
newmomma - sorry to hear about the turning! maybe she'll turn back again?
first1 - ouch re CPD!
pigley - pleased you got an explanation about your sister's distance re your pregnancy. It's a good reminder to us all to remember that when people seem off or rude about pregnancies it's often got more to do with their own circumstances than ours. I keep getting slightly annoyed that friends who haven't had any children keep warning me about how much work I'm letting myself in for - like I hadn't realised
hollyoaks - good luck with GP
SK/Five/mustbemad/carikube/pigley/alex/alle/itshappenedagain
not sure which one of you is going to go first (and sorry if I've missed anyone) but good luck to whoever it is x

Hobnobfanatic · 04/05/2010 12:52

I don't envy your decision, First - I'm so indecisive about things! But it's good that it's been noted now, rather than after 24 hours of labour. Any idea on what you'll choose?

Newmomma - how annoying for the baby to defy the odds and turn! Must be a very special LO! Hope LO turns again in time...

Alex - any news? Sounds imminent to me!

Hollyoaks - thank heavens you spotted it in time and it's treatable. Hope all is well - do give us an update.

PAmelat - get well soon. I find that people are often ill in the last stretch - week or so. Then the body recovers and sprogs. I had it with my first, lots of friends have had similar, and I\m just shifting a cold and sore throat now...

Hope all the latent birthers are doing well. After three nights of three-hour contrations each (painful BHs, five mins apart), I was fully expecting to sprog last night. Barely slept, had a couple of painful contractions and nothing else! NOt a sausage! Can't believe it! Wish I could have enjoyed it and slept, but it was as if my body was waiting for the contractions to start...

Am soooo fed up now. Much as I'm terrified of the birth, at least this pain and waiting will be over...

Good luck, all!

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 04/05/2010 13:03

Newmomma - sorry your LO has turned again That's really frustrating and for you that they didn't take you seriously. Hope baby turns back and you don't have a stressful decision to make.

First1 - CPD sounds ouch, don't envy you having to make the decision. I'm sure you can get some excellent advice on here.

Schipo - you're right about people's own circumstances influencing their reactions. Most people who have behaved weirdly to me in either pregnancy have turned out to have a reason. My childless friends do the same thing re warning me how much work it will be

Hobnob - the contractions must have been very annoying, it gets really annoying.

I keep having various things on and off, I think I've been losing some of the mucus plug now but nothing really happening. I'm seeing my consultant tomorrow re delivery so hopefully can finally get an answer about what they're going to do - my MW warned me that they may just keep me in and induce but I suspect they won't want to induce until next week. Depends on my BP though I guess. It's all very tiresome, just want to get it all over so I can stop taking so many hypertensives.

AnAngelWithin · 04/05/2010 13:07

hi all. Hope you are ok.

Went to midwife this morning. Everything ok. Trace of sugar in wee but nothing to worry about I don't think. Babys heart rate was faster than normal, usually between 128 and 132, but today was 144! Maybe it was on a sugar rush lol. Said 'see you next week to the midwife' and she said 'probably not' Does she know something I don't?!? I don't mind though, even though still 20 days til my due date, I wouldn't mind if the baby came now!!!

Haven't felt too good the past few days. Had upset tummy last night and this morning. Slept for england last night as well which was odd.

newmomma hopefully baby will turn on its own?

alex good luck!

five hope you are doing ok too.

SK good luck with induction. Must be nice to actually plan everything around it all in a way!!

OP posts:
pamelat · 04/05/2010 13:29

newmomma sorry your LO has turned again. I had the ECV last week, not nice but hoping he has stayed head down. I find out tomorrow. I didnt realise that there was a stage when it was too late? I had mine done at 38 weeks exactly - no one mentioned anything about it being too late.

pamelat · 04/05/2010 13:30

I feel a little bit odd, almost sad (?!), as today was the day I would have had my c-section if the ECV had not worked.

Althought with how coldy I feel, its for the best

sweetkitty · 04/05/2010 14:50

hi all

Yes I am going in tonight for induction, bit scared really usually it's taken out my hands and the baby just comes whether I like it or not but to walk in knowing you are coming out with a baby just feels weird. And all the planning seems strange as well. I know it is for the best though SIL will be here soon and DP is here so we are all organised.

Feeling a lot of pressure and BHs today as usual but then again I am 39+6 weeks pregnant with no4.

pamelat - that does sound strange thinking you could be having a c section today

Angel - are you usually early? Not that I think it matters really, don't know if these things follow a pattern.

Hobnob - you sound like you are getting close as well I think we are going to be up for a baby rush about 6 or more in the next few days.

first1 - difficult choice I can see why you would want a trial of labour and a ELCS, wait and see what the GP says tomorrow, you have until Friday to make a choice

I hope five is doing well no word on FB or phone yet.

brightredballoon · 04/05/2010 15:24

SWEETKITTY oh my goodness, I lost track of days, wanted to wish you a very speedy and pain free induction. Hope the hospital is not as busy as it was when I was there last week but to be honest that might work in your favour if it is as they will let you get on with it like how you have with the other three rather than be fussed over and made to be on the monitor etc. Cant wait to hear your news, I imagine you will be holding your wee boy by this time tomorrow?

pamelat how bizarre to have all that emotion flung in at the end of your pregnancy about the elcs/ecv, then the date of cs then the ecv working and now waiting for labour to begin. You must not know if you are coming or going!

newmomma sorry that your little one is breech again

Alex good luck, hope things happen soon for you

Aww girls, I am sitting here next to my lovely new bundle (my other two are at the childminders today) and she keeps making the most cute noises and stretches then does a wee fart and wriggles back to sleep. I cant wait for us all to have delivered and to be on the post natal thread.

Sassles · 04/05/2010 15:36

Hi All,

Going to try and remember everyone.

Five Hope things are going well for you in hospital and we may have a wee Star Wars baby today!

Squirtsmum Sounds like things are starting for you! Exciting!

itshappened Thinking of you in your exam at the mo. Best of luck and think how awesome you will be feeling reading this when it is all over!

sweetkitty Best of luck for the induction! Soon you'll have that wee baby boy bouncing in your lap!

heffa I got house all tidy over the weekend too. Feel much better with it done!

alex how exciting waters breaking! I was in hairdressers today and was a bit worried it may happen. Think they would have been horrified. Not long for you now!

pigleychez I hope your sister feels better about her pregnancy. It must have been a shock. I was off contraception, although not actually planning days etc when we conceived and I was still shocked when I got the positive test result. Thought I was going to faint. Can't imagine what it must be like if totally unplanned. Loving the Teddy tummy slide!!

mustbemad I totally believe in this cosmic psychic stuff. I have had too many things happen in my life of that sort of nature to not believe in it. I woke bolt upright at 3am one morning and knew my aunt had died. That was the exact time she passed away. I am convinced she gave me a fly by on her way up. I am sure your mum is happy sympathy labour pains up above and is keeping a close watch on you.

newmomma I really feel for you. That must be really annoying especially after going through getting baby turned. I was upset after finding head had unengaged and baby back to back at last appoitnment, so can;t imagine what you must be feeling. Maybe baby knows something we don't and needs to come out that way?

first1 My friend gave birth a few weeks ago and her pelvis was too small also. They didn't realise for ages, or rather they did and realised she would need C-section, but as the theatre was busy, they kept her pushing for a further 5 hours. Baby had big bump on her noggin when they got her out, but both are completely fine, happy and healthy. Def better that they know this now and you can have a go, but they are fully prepared for whichever way baby needs to come out.

I had my hair all cut and coloured today, so feeling lovely. Due on Sat, but absolutely no signs of activity at all. I'm feeling pretty laid back about things and quite happy to stay pregnant for a bit longer. Do you think that is having any affect on baby staying put?

i'll see how the consultant appointment goes on Friday and see if he mentions sweep. I'll not make any decisions and see how I feel on the day. SK I think you have a good point about cervix being closed if first, so think they may not even offer. Someone said they think it may be midwife at hosp who would do this anyway and think you may be right. I'll see how it goes.

SquirtsMum · 04/05/2010 15:52

Just a quick post before I lie down on the sofa - decided to take a walk down to the local shopping centre to get some banking and shopping done (best part of a 3 mile walk).... a few BH's and aches but nothing proper to show for it , was in more pain last night sitting on my bum lol

Off to the sofa and some Jaffa cakes, hoping the sugar may spur Squirt on abit!!

Hope those that feel rubbish don't feel like it for too long, to those being induced hope your holding your LO's soon, to those with pains/shows/contractions fingers crossed its the start

xxxx

pamelat · 04/05/2010 16:15

Good luck SK

Not heard from MDM for a few days and she is usually a regular?

Also wonder how Sophie is getting on, presumably will have had her twins?

I am getting excited on behalf of all of you with imminent bundles.

I have gone in to utter denial about being 8 days (!!) from my due date. I did drive to the shop today for lemsip which is about 200m away so very impressed squirtsmum!

Den26 · 04/05/2010 16:19

SK good luck with your induction!

Congrats BRB!!

Back from wedding with bump still intact!

Will return to catch up - loads missed in a week!

first1 · 04/05/2010 16:56

I'm afraid this will be a really speedy post as need to collect DH from station, but I've just had a panic about making my decision re the CPD. They need to know by Friday (I'll be 38+4 then). If I decide on the ELCS and they usually do them at 38-39weeks (I think, its my first so not very clued up), what if all the theatres are booked up??! Only gives them 3 days and over a weekend til I'm 39weeks. Further worry now set in.
