LuckyC · 03/05/2010 17:57

mustbemad that's what i had the day i had tilda !!!!

booboomonster · 03/05/2010 18:05

itshappened hope it's not waters! sounds like good advice re the sanitary pad. what bad timing - good luck!

sweetkitty/mustbemad hope the symptoms lead to something soon! I am getting a bit fed up just of being pregnant so I am jealous - I'm 3 weeks from due date. But I'm sure it's annoying not knowing what's happening. mustbemad sorry you aren't able to chat to your mum, that must be really hard. Maybe all your dreams are a way of having her with you - in spirit.

I am getting abit fed up of being pregnant and potty training - I think it's improving, but very slowly. And I just don't have the energy. Felt like a total failure after yelling at DD - I was chiding her for not eating her lunch and she was being obstinate and got cross and then weed on the chair. I just find sleeping is rubbish at the moment but I might try the spare room tonight just to feel a bit less bad about disturbing DH (I don't quite know why I feel bad...). Anyway, hope everyone is ok and those who want things to happen get their wishes!

TomlinTowers · 03/05/2010 18:36

Hi again

Just a quick post - mustbemad and itshappenedagain - last time my waters broke and I didn't go into labour. When I rang delivery, MW told me that I had to come into delivery suite 24 hours after waters broke as baby no longer protected from infection etc as sac ruptured and I had to be induced - might be worth just checking your hospital's policy?

I'm sure all will be well - really hope you get to do you exam itshappened and see your DS off on the coach mustbemad!!

rachelfruitloop · 03/05/2010 18:52

SK Glad to hear your DD is feeling better. The bug must have left your house and come over to mine, DS has been vomiting everywhere this evening, he's in bed now !

pamelat · 03/05/2010 19:19

Crikey, everyone is in the wars

I was too early with my "I am not too bad" post. I am full of cold. In itself its ok ish but I really dont think I could give birth feeling this ill. I am shivery and achey and my glands are swollen. Please someone tell me that my body would not let me go in to labour when unwell???

Am 39 weeks tomorrow.

Five florence is my favourite name of all time. Its DD's middle name but always regret not using it as her first.

memorylapse · 03/05/2010 19:28

sorry to hear about those with ill DC's..the dreaded sickness bugs are a nightmare..hour household was hit a few weeks ago...even DH got it..no fun when you are pregnant

mustbemad..lie down on the bed for an hour, then stand up..if you feel a gush..then its your waters..on the loo paper, the paper would be very wet with a slimy look..where as discharge will just be on a small part of the paper and will be thicker

itshappenedagain · 03/05/2010 19:34

hello again everyone.
thanxs for the support.

tomlin its 96 hours in our hospital...befroe they start induction...although my consultant has put on that i shouldnt be induced due to asthma

ML glad to hear that you have more antibiotics and that your feeling better.

anyway im off for a bath and to get the final bits or revision round up done!
fingers crossed 16.5 hours and counting.

Sassles · 03/05/2010 19:42

Hi All,

Sorry to hear so many of us not having great time at the moment through bad night's sleep, family illness etc.

I have a wee quick question.

After a bit of a mix up with my preg notes I am seeing the consultant again on Friday. I will be 39 & 6 days. Really don;t know why I'm going as last time I saw consultant at 36 weeks he said I wouldn't need to see him again unless went overdue. Midwife last Friday said n"next time I see you will be at home with baby".

So, do you think the consultant will be looking to do a membrane sweep? Has anyone else had one and should I say yes or wait till the next appointment if I don't go into labour naturally.

I'm probably being really, really silly, but would have no prob with midwife doing this, but consultant appointment is quite formal and I would feel a bit embarassed with him doing this. I know that when in labour my bits will be on show for everyone, but that's a bit different from a consultant appointment and I'm sure I won't care at that point. I know I will be totally embarrassed even though I know he is a professional etc.

I am not feeling too awful in pregnancy yet or that fed up. Next appoint would prob be week on Friday when I will be 40 & 6 if not gone into labour naturally.

Any advice?

pigleychez · 03/05/2010 20:43

moggmum- We too had the Tommee tippe bottles and used an Advent steriliser that a friend gave us.
This time we have bought a new TT seriliser with a new set of bottles.

ML- How lovely that your grnadparents are visiting. Shame that she couldnt see little Olivia but sounds like she is well loved non the less
Hope the Mastitis is improving.

Hobnob- Know what you mean about them coming with a delivery date thats set. Its soo annoying the not knowing.

Tomlin- Glad todays appointment went well.

BRB- Glad things are going well with LO and the others are enjoying there new baby sister.

SK- Glad the sickness bug seems to be leaving now. Poor DD's

Mustbemad- Sorry to hear your sad about your mum. Bound to be an emotional time.

Rachel- Oh No... DS has the bug now too!

Happenedagain- Fingers and legs crossed till after the exam!

Sassles- Maybe you dont need to go then if he said he doesnt need to see you till your overdue. Maybe ring your MW to check, see what she says.

Had a lazy day today... Weathers not been great but did manage to get out and pot a few flowers in the garden.

Been soooo tired today, Have hardly been able to keep my eyes open all day. I just feel so exhausted.
My back has been killing all day too although thankfully a bath has helped abit.

Question TMI... When I went to the Loo earlier I noticed a little discharge ( nothing unusual) but also noticed a little pink tinge when I wiped. Normal??

to hear that everyone has aches and pains. Not long now ladies Even though everyday seems like a lifetime!

alle01 · 03/05/2010 20:44

Hi all,

Still waiting with the same pains, today is 4 days overdue and counting.... can't be bother doing personals sorry , have appoinment with mw on wed to do membrane sweep, hopefully don't get there. Hope everyone feels better tomorrow.

morethemerrier · 03/05/2010 21:46

Just popping in, Pigleychez sounds like a bit of a 'show' to me!

And backache too, sounds like something may be happening!

x

memorylapse · 03/05/2010 22:29

alle..sending you some positive labour vibes..hopefully you wont need the sweep

Pigleychez...sounds like a bit of mucous plug.

fiveisanawfullybignumber · 04/05/2010 00:21

quick update on crappy hospital keypad. delivery suite full so on hold for waters being broken. contractions every 4 mins but bearable. dh sent home for rest:-(
take care all:-)

SquirtsMum · 04/05/2010 01:46

ooooooo good luck five

Up after 3hrs sleep Had been having pains and a very mucus-y discharge for most of the day, not bloody but deffo not normal for me (sorry TMI) and now can't sleep for pee-ing and serious acid reflux, not sure if its the reflux but feel quite sick aswell atm. And now that I'm up and out of bed Squirt has decided to rearrange my inside which is just painful!!
Really want to wake up DP and get a back rub but he's gotta be in work in 4hrs so thats not gonna happen.

Due today but think it'll be a miracle if Squirt turns up.

xxxx

itshappenedagain · 04/05/2010 06:19

morning all!

five hopefully deleiver suite will calm down soon and you will be our next new mummy.

squirtsmum you may be one of the luck 5%...hope it happens for you too.

a miracle has happened we have got to exam morning and although im still leaking water and have a a few pains...baby is still firmly in place and in under 6 hours all will be over weather i pass or fail is a differnt thing but ive given it my best shot!
havent slept for most of the night and am now eating breakfast before i go through notes again, pack bag, get ready and its time to go. however think my bra fitting may have to wait for another day as il probably be shattered after the exam but we will see!

good luck to all those hoping for labour to happen today. fingers crossed!!!

sweetkitty · 04/05/2010 06:50

Morning everyone having my usual pregnancy insomnia.

Noting to report here BHs as strong as ever, feel like he could pop out at any minute but probably won't. Very reflective today as this will probably be my last day being pregnant ever, as much as I hate it due to the SPD there is a small tinge of sadness. Got a lot to do today, clean and tody (well instruct DP), sort out things for the girls tomorrow, SIL coming up and generally just get prepared. Am going to try and get the girls to bounce me on the trampoline later as that's what got DD3 out I am sure, so hopefully when I go in later things will be already happening.

We are having a sweepstake on weight it anyone wants to join in: so far we have 8lbs 3ozs (me), 8lbs 6ozs (DP), 8lbs 5ozs (friend) all very close.

five - love the holding pattern airline thing anyway hope your plane has landed so to speak now and you are cuddling your new girl, will be stuck to phone today.

ithappenedagain - best of luck today, hope you pass exam then go have your baby.

Squirtsmum - oh it does sound as if you are mocing in the right direction though, maybe today is the day? If not take it easy.

alle - going overdue is a pain, you have my sympathies

pigley - sounds like a show to me as well, wouldn't it be funny if this one was early?

sassles - I really don't know, as round here you only see a consultant if you are high risk or there are any concerns, this pregnancy was the first time I had seen one and that was at my request. At 39+6 they may do a sweep but remember you can refuse it completely, there is a train of thought that says they are a bit useless if you are not overdue. Your a first timer so chances are your cervix will be closed and they won't have anything to sweep IYSWIM? I do understand about you being embarrassed, I'm on my 4th and still don't like being examined, it's alright when you are in the throes of labour but another when one minute you are chatting to someone the next they are sticking their fingers up your fanjo, sorry I am blunt. They are very good at trying to make you feel a ease though like covering you up etc

pamelat - oh no hope you recover soon, there is a thought that your body will only allow you to go into labour when it feels strong enough, I was very ill at the end with DD2 and I think my body waited until I was getting over it before allowing me to give birth, I remember coughing and snuffling between gas and air sucks though.

rachel - oh no saw that on FB sorry for spreading the lurgy, last night was good no one woke up so fingers crossed they are all over it. Strange I was the only one not to get it usually I catch everything.

Tomlin - the hospital I had DD1 in it's 48 hours before induction after waters, I didn't need it though, we got sent home and came back within half an hour.

booboo - I really don't know how you have the energy to potty train, I can hardly even change a nappy right now.

mustbemad - sorry you are feeling down about your Mum I think it is a very emotional time and that's why you are dreaming of her. She will be with you in thought and through the baby. My lovely MIL died last July and we all feel so sad she never got to see this grandchild, her 6th and 1st boy

Right ladies May 4th be with us all and hopefully we will have some new arrivals today x

alle01 · 04/05/2010 07:24

morning all,
having stronger pains through the night, not yet gone away, it could be today, but i've said that before...
good luck to everyone with labours and exams,... feeling quite crappy today, hopefully this will be it

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 04/05/2010 07:49

Five - good luck! Thinking of you.

Sorry for everyone feeling ill/with ill DCs Just what we all need at this point!

Alle01 - hope something happens today for you

Sassles - if they did want to do a sweep they would probably get the midwife to do it separately rather than the consultant doing it in the appointment IYSWIM? That's what happens round here. You can refuse them though and if you don't want one then don't feel bullied into it. The MWs who have done them for me (I had one in last pg too) have always been very good at putting me at ease.

Have been going a bit nuts all weekend sorting out the house. Feel loads better for doing it but was a bit manic. Glad to have it done so I don't have to worry about it once LO is here.

alexw · 04/05/2010 08:28

Morning all. Quick post. Waters broke at 1am. No contractions yet though Hoping they'll kick in soon. Good luck to others hoping today's the day.

pamelat · 04/05/2010 08:28

alle, five & happenedagain - good luck

have woken feeling worse, full of cold, glands swollen, hands swollen and funny patches all over my tongue.

Would be worried but DH feels pretty much the same. Am seeing midwife tomorrow anyhow at 39 weeks

Hollyoaks · 04/05/2010 08:36

Morning all

Itshappened - good luck with your exam today.

Five/alle/pigley/itshappened - all those with signs of labour good luck it all kicks off soon.

SK/Pamelat - all those who are ill/have ill dc/dh's hope you get better soon before baby arrives.

Sorry for the complete lack of personals but feeling quite stressed this morning. I've been having really pains in my back and at the top of my bump for weeks now. Had them with dd but they are definitely worse this time, thought it was because I'm still working. Anyway, last night they reached a peak and I said to dh it feels like my liver is being stabbed with a red hot poker, the pain is only in my right side maybe its not muscular. So, did the worst thing and Googled the symptoms and it all comes back to gall stones, which are apparently quite common in pg as the bile duct relaxes with the pg hormones. This in itself wouldn't be a problem as it's easily treated but it's what caused my dsis' liver infection which eventually infected her placenta and caused her to lose my nephew. I'm at the gp this morning and I know I'm no where near as sick as she was just can't believe I didn't recognise the signs earlier . I'm a bit worried the gp will fob me off too.

Sorry for the long me rant, just haven't slept well and feeling quite stressed.

Hollyoaks · 04/05/2010 08:38

Alex - cross post, good luck too

Pamelat -

pigleychez · 04/05/2010 09:14

Five- Hopefully you already have your georgous baby or its well on its way

Squirtsmum- Happy due day

Happenedagain- Good luck for today... Hold onto that baby till after

SK- Last pregnant day In some ways the induction is handy as you know where and when dont you. Im finding the unknown abit unerving this time.
Went to bed alittle bit unsure of to what the night might bring but of course.. nothing.

Alle- Hope todays the day

Alex- Ohhh how excititng. Keep us posted

Pamlet- Hope you feel better soon.

Hollyoaks- Hope the GP appointment goes well

You may remember me saying my sister was abit off with me/ uninterested when i saw her on Sunday. Well she text me last night apologising and telling me that was had just found out the day before that she was pregnant again! Seeing my big bump was abit odd to her as this pregnancy wasnt planned again. This from the girl who said she would never ever ever have any more kids! - And everyone believed her! Her DD wasnt planned and although shes a good mum you can kinda tell that.- Without sounding mean.
Her DD is 2 at the end of the month. Really shocked by that text and it took me a while to get off to sleep.
She isnt sure how far along she is yet as she says she was on the pill . Guessing a month or two so looks like another baby around xmas time i guess. My SIL/BIL are due in sept too so family get togethers are going to be rather busy! 5 kids--- 3 babies and 2 two yr olds!

Well DD found a new use for my bump this morning whilst playing in bed with me. My tummy apparently makes a great Teddy slide!

Best get ready... Got toddlers this morning and then swimming lesson this afternoon that got moved from yesterday being Bank Holiday. Ill be shattered by the end of the day!
x

Carikube · 04/05/2010 09:17

Hollyoaks hope that the GP listens to your concerns and that everything is ok.

Good luck to all those who may be in labour and hope that you feel better soon Pamelat

I had serious pains over the weekend and told DH that I thought things might be kicking off but it's all calmed down again now so at this rate I'll go for another three weeks . MIL arrives on Thurs so just hope that it happens soon after that.... Looking forward to hearing more birth announcements soon though

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 04/05/2010 09:20

Good luck to everyone who is in labour, having twinges, in hospital or sitting an exam today! All very exciting, best of luck.

Nothing happening here, thankfully since I'm still being a big wimp.

Re sweeps: don't have them if you don't want them, it's entirely your choice! I hate being fiddled with so I won't be having one unless I go very overdue and there's talk of induction.

Forgot everything I wanted to say now oh well, hope you're all ok anyway, wouldn't be surprised if we had at least one new birth announcement by midnight! x
