viksam · 30/05/2010 22:27

Hello Ladies,
I have been reading on my phone but weirdly it doesnt say names on there, its quite funny actually because I can mostly tell whos talking, without names, just shows how well we know each other. For what ever reason i cant post on my phone though which is annoying.
chulita Cant believe ur FIL brought a plane, thats mad.
gracie Cant believe ur measurements, u must be knackered!
I havent had any BH yet so got that delight to look forward to!
Anyhow, off to bed now, had a nice trip to the seaside today but feeling tired now.
Hope everyone has a lovely bank holiday.
xx

DesperateHousewife21 · 31/05/2010 10:22

Morning everyone,

This thread has been very slow moving you must all be out enjoying the bank holiday.

DP's dad has very kindly offered to buy us a cot mattress from John Lewis, I know its an expensive shop generally but I dont know which one to go for or how much to go up to. Dont want to be cheeky and ask for one that costs £100. A middle of the range one will do me Ill just have to spend some time browsing.

Ive got a mw app on Wed, I dont think LO has settled into the right position yet though, I get what feels like an elbow poking my left side but then on the right side it feels big and round like his head! Hes been in that position for weeks and weeks now I do hope he gets in the right position eventually.

My friend who had her baby on Sat has posted a pic of him on facebook, his head looks scarily large and he was only 7lb! He is very very sweet though Not sure hes got a name yet.

Gracie123 · 31/05/2010 14:53

There has been some confusion over dates, which is another reason they want do do the section as late as possible. Unfortunately, it is just a huge baby. We had a detailed scan done which showed that height and skeletal measurements are all huge, but organs are not very developed yet.

MiL said DH was 10lb and siblings were 11lb so I guess it's genetic. :-(

I was only 5lb...

memphis83 · 31/05/2010 14:53

been rubbish weather here so i havent done much but my mum took me to next so i could get some shoes for this wedding, they are lovely but i have a feeling they will be replaced by flats by reception, everything is so high in the shops at the mo!!
dh i just went for a basic sprung mattress as they breath better than foam and it wont sag in middle, although the outer unzips to be washed i got recommended to get i mattress protector sheet, i can see logic as at least if you have a sick baby or exploded nappy you can wash protector and still use the mattress hope this is a bit of help?! as long as babys head is downwards i dont think its a problem if its not engaged
my mum was talking about labour earlier and she scared me by saying if your likely to tear they used to cut you at height of contraction without a local!! i hope this isnt the case now as i really want to try without an epidural eeek!

stac14 · 31/05/2010 15:09

hey ladies, mw app went well i am measuring 38wks and i'm only 33+2. They are concerned as ds was a big baby so i got another scan. It was so lovely, her face was so clear she looks like me and ds they also said she is at the moment 6-7lbs with still 6wks to go lol. Anyway the want to do the glucose tolerance next monday. Oh and scans defo on 14th july yay lol

Hows everyone today? X

aw thats lovely you got to see her again stac!
gracie ouch.........thats all i have to say! you poor thing though id say your very uncomfortable.
well i think i've dropped! not sure but just feel alot heavier around bottom of bump.and feeling movements lower down as well as high up. will be 36 weeks on friday so think it should be about right to drop now??? just got a message from one of the girls on facebook and im in stitches laughing! 'make sure you keep that box good and trimmed you never know when you'l be up on the table in the labour ward givin it socks'!!! hope it doesnt happen in the next 2-3 weeks til i get my house sorted! went and picked all the new carpets today and they're being put down 2moro! cant wait! lovely squishy cream ones for all the bedrooms and a lovely grey and black stripe for the stairs and landing. then just need to get outside sorted and stuff cleared out of babies room. and get my car all sorted........so thats a lot left to do but im enjoying seeing it all being done!

DesperateHousewife21 · 31/05/2010 16:40

memphis thanks for the info on mattresses, Ive found one on the JL website which is a spring one so going to ask for that. Getting a mattress protector does sound like a good idea doesnt it!
I dont think LO is engaged at all, I meant if he is even head down, his head is def towards that direction, just dont think its completely facing the right way with legs going straight up the middle IYSWIM.

stac thats nice you got another scan, she sounds like shes going to be a big baby though! I dont think my LO will be bigger than avg, Im going to guess at 7lb with 8lb being the biggest at time of birth.

kk cant believe your going to be 36 weeks on Fri, Ive only just turned 33 weeks! Im getting really impatient I really want to meet him now but at the same time still have loads of organising to do so am glad Ive still got 7ish weeks to wait.

stac14 · 31/05/2010 16:48

yeah dh and kk it was great to see her again and she is defo goin to be a big baby.

Dont know if this helps dh i got a spring thermorest mattress from babies r us it was £70 but was in mother and baby mag as a good buy.

gracie i totally know how you feel, i have been told no chance of being sectioned early even tho measure 5 wks ahead. Also with spd and pain they say lo's lungs aren't developed enough even to do it a day before 39 wks. Hope the help you better x

DesperateHousewife21 · 31/05/2010 17:17

stac Ive got a scan in 2 weeks and I really cant wait to see how much hes grown!
This mattress Ive found in John Lewis is £60 and as DP's dad has offered to buy it I thought that was quite reasonable, didnt want to ask for too much but at the same time still want a fairly decent one!

memphis83 · 31/05/2010 18:15

stac thats lovely you got another scan, a big baby for you then, at least shes coming out the sunroof and your not having to push her out, surely there still may be a chance they would bring it a bit sooner if they think she is big and they want to do a glucose test??
im being kicked to high heaven at the mo my belly is moving loads and ive got a lot of pressure in my back side as he moves (sorry if tmi) wonder if this means he is engaged, i suppose i find out for sure tommorrow at mw.
dh is now putting roof on our shed it looks lovely like a summer house, but ive just heard a crash and he fell off onto the now broken fence, i know i shouldnt laugh but i did!!!

stac14 · 31/05/2010 20:07

i wish memphis but they want her in till the end unless i go myself. Glucose test is next week but don't think it will change things. Lol at coming out the sunroof. You poor wee luv. Will you find out whether your getting induced or what tomorrow? I would have to laugh at dh too, cruel bitch i know lol x

memphis your poor dh - I guess now he has to add mending the fence to the list of jobs. As for episiotomy - you can request if you would rather tear than be cut - tearing tends to be more superficial and heals quicker, they tend to only cut if baby is really having problems getting out. I had a small internal tear, and an intact perinium with dd (which slighly baffled the mw's) those final pushes were painful, but I didn't feel the tear really - had dd not decided to come out doing a superman impression I wouldn't have torn at all.

Exciting the baby has started to engage kk new carpets sound lovely too.

Well I am really paying for exciting day out yesterday - I'm totally shattered - burst into tears and couldn't eat dinner, total hormonal moment now I'm a bit hungry - really fancy chocolate ice cream - which will of course give killer indigestion, add to my ever increasing bum and thighs and generally do me no good at all - dh has gone swimming, think I'll demand he gets some on his way home. Fancy ben and jerry's choc fudge brownie.

I can't wait until this baby arrives.

viksam · 31/05/2010 20:29

KK its ace seeing everything come together isnt it. The LO's room is painted now, a lovely blue to go with the seaside theme, NOT because we think its a boy just because I wanted a colour and it needed to fit the theme. The carpet will be fitted on friday and the cot is being delivered then too. Im bummed out because I have to work saturday AND sunday and all im going to want to do is sort things in the room, Im going to have to be patient AGAIN! I just feel like i have spent eternity being patient and waiting for things to happen. The last job is on the 21st which is the carpet and sofa cleaned but so much to do inbetween times.
We went to the Sherbourn country show today, we entered the dog in the fun dog show for the waggiest tail but he wasnt very waggy and, much to my DH's embarrasment, he did a poo in the ring!!! was funny, could only happen to us!! It was so hot and sunny my face is tomato like and i feel a bit poo so lots of water and early night for me.
stac goodness, it does sound like ur in for a wopper, better bigger than tiny i recon, sucks that they wont do anything earlier for u though.
DH I went for a sprung mattress too, a mattress protector would be a good idea I'll have to get one too. Gina Ford says to use a draw sheet, i wasnt sure what she meant but mom says its just another sheet on the mattress over where the baby sleeps, just for extra protection.
Whats everyone been up to today.

viksam · 31/05/2010 20:37

Wonder Icecream is an ace idea, im going to have to get some now. I know what you mean about ever increasing bum and thighs, i recon i have put more weight on over the last few weeks than i have all the way through. I dont think the clotted cream will help though!!

Wonderstuff · 01/06/2010 09:30

morning all. Got a proper day off today - dd at nursery. So much I want to get done, going to have to write a list and prioritise because ain't all going to happen. Sleeping needs to be somewhere near the top, the little devil darling had me up twice last night - first time in months she hasn't slept through.

The ice cream was lovely and the indigestion not too bad Just scoffed an egg and bacon roll from the bakery OJ and a decent cup of coffee. Gonna browse some baby names then have a bath, then I'll get on with the washing and the shopping and mopping the floor and writing thank-you letters and sorting out tax credits..

DesperateHousewife21 · 01/06/2010 10:04

Hello everyone,
Got a whole load of housework to do this morning, still in my pjs at the mo watching last nights eastenders, didnt realise its an hour long!

My friend is coming to pick me up at half 12 to go out for lunch at the carvery which im really looking forward to

What is everyone else upto today?

memphis83 · 01/06/2010 10:06

wonder thats good to know about tearing, i think i would prefer to tear than be cut it just seems a bit wrong!! as for fence, it was old and had been covered with an ugly metal panel luckily dh moved that out that morning or he could have been really hurt!
stac no wont find out if they will induce me til mext week, mw doesnt have the power to push a decision like that apparently!
viksam lol at waggy dog comp and him doing a poo in ring that is what my dog would do, he always poo's when there is a audience!!

i tried on my new dress and shoes for wedding together, from the side i look huge due to cut of the dress, had a mini meltdown and said i wasnt going as all the other women are size 8's, dh said i looked lovely but i am pregnant so im not going to be thin, but its really knocked me, got another 2 weeks of growth to go b4 the day 2

Wonderstuff · 01/06/2010 10:30

memphis I think your dh is right! Celebrate your size, you are dressing for two

Can't think of a name - loads of girls names I like but so few boys. My number one is Asher - but dh hates it. Also in the running are Dylan, Griff and Danny. Worried Dylan is a bit naff - Griffith was my maiden name and is dd's middle name - so worried about re-using, is also a second cousins name - I've never met him but might be confusing for some relatives? Finally Danny was my paternal grandfathers name - he was a fantasic person, very gentle, would chat to anyone, on the order of service at his funeral it said 'if he could, he would' which really summed him up - worried that it's a bit much to live up to really - also have a child I'm currently teaching called Dan who is a total nightmare, is my nephews middle name and I have a first cousin Daniel.. Have told dh we are not making a decision until babs gets here, but need a few lined up really. Want something strong, a bit unusal (once taught a class with 4 Connors - I love the name Jack but worried there will be another half dozen in the same class at school). Should get on with some housework really.

DesperateHousewife21 · 01/06/2010 11:42

wonder excuuuuuse me!! Dylan is NOT a naff name, thats what we're calling our LO!!

kapars · 01/06/2010 11:58

Morning ladies!
I agree Dylan is a lovely name. That was one of my choices if we were having a boy.
viksam had to laugh at your dog! and memphis at your dh and the fence.
Had a fab weekend at a spa with my dh and had lovely mother-to-be package with facial, bac massage, leg massage and tummy pack!
This has helped my horrible back pain loads.
Also feel like we are getting sorted with everything - have all we need for lo I think more or less after a final (maybe) trip to mothercare yesterday.
Being rescanned on thurs to see where my placenta is so excited to see lo again.
stac what position was your baby in during the scan? I'm wondering if we'll see our baby's face as she is head down and in correct position at the moment but I don't know what the scanner sees thru iyswim?
Working from home again for the rest of the week.

kkfairybrains · 01/06/2010 12:17

aw kapars im going on spa weekend this weekend too and thats made me all excited!
wonder i love all your names! agree that dylan isnt naff!!!!!!!!its actually on my list too.gonna wait and see when its pops out though and see which name suits it!
we're def not goin for sonny now! it'l prob stil be my nickname for him if its a boy but we'r talking about other names now but stil nothing that both of us love!
lol at your dh memphis!!!! i would have laughed too! glad he's ok though!
i've started to get funny pains across the bottom of my bump.its not braxton hicks cos i was getting loads of them but they'v tailed off now but its like a real dull heavy pain or something. and then feel like the pressure around my bum is unreal. dont have hospital app til next week so cant ask til then but im presuming its just 'normal' like everything else is!

Wonderstuff · 01/06/2010 13:05

Many apologies - not naf at all (cowers looking a bit scared) I think it has just been on our list for soo long now - was on the boys shortlist for last 2 pregnancies - just beginning to question it, dunno, sorry

Feeling a bit peculiar today, lots of indigestion and generally a bit icky and wobbly - so much for all the housework I was going to do - so far I've put the sheets in the wash - maybe a little sleep is in order..

kapars · 01/06/2010 13:11

kk I wouldn't presume anything is normal at this stage. I'd call the midwife and then she will be better placed to tell you if it's normal and nothing to worry about. I think it's always best to check if you're unsure.
Enjoy your spa! I want to go again...

memphis83 · 01/06/2010 14:00

weather is awful here, got to walk to mw in an hour i think im going to end up wet!! but its supposed to be 25 degrees from tomorrow til end of week!
just cleaned bathroom, it looks lovely its been so long since i have managed to do itm, cant expect dh to do it as he uses the other loo and shower in other room so its all my mess!!
our dog is acting really strange which has got dh thinking baby is mere days away, he hasnt piddled in house since i got him at 3 months old, i stripped bed and left sheets on floor next to wash basket, just realised he has piddled over them and then took all my dirty washing out of basket and covered wet patch with them (he used to do this if he was sick, like hes covering his guilt so i cant see it) picking his way round dh's dirty clothes, all very odd, he wont get off sofa and only time he did he walked past me sniffing my bump (never done this b4) then stood in middle of baby room, sorry about long post but im totally confused by this as he hasnt acted strange b4, my mums dog on other hand backed into corner crying when i pulled my top up to show mum my bump? any ideas?
