Gracie123 · 28/05/2010 10:00

I started having really painful BH last night. I think it was dehydration set it off, so sat with feet up and about 5 glasses of water!

I don't like to call the MW unit, because with 1st pregnancy, every time I rang with an innocent question they would make me come in for monitoring and it would be really inconvenient to get DS out of bed to drive over for 2 hours and then come home for nothing.

I know it's BH because they are fairly irregular and ease off when I sit down with my feet up. Doesn't half scare DH though when I grab bump and start saying 'Ow!'

Looks like I'll just have to take it a bit easier for the next few weeks.

Just noticed, north west means you are near me. Have you picked a hospital yet?

We'll be moving before we actually have baby (hopefully) but if not I could be having it up here with you. I'm going to go to Barrow.

DesperateHousewife21 · 28/05/2010 11:11

Welcome tashtastic judging by your nickname you have the same real life name as me! Welcome to our thread your due a day after me!

Gracie123 · 28/05/2010 11:18

Or she just loves moustaches...

kapars · 28/05/2010 11:18

Morning ladies, welcome tash and 2Issey.
Thanks for the congrats on the girl! very exciting, It's impossible to keep to yourself.
I'm very happy as I'm off to a spa for two nights with my lovely dh from tonight which is just what we need as he has been working so hard i've not seen him much.

dh think it is only pelvic floor exercises that can help. It is difficult to remember to do them. I've got a lot better now cos our yoga teacher keeps nagging so I try to do them if I'm on the tube or watching telly.
Was intending to start perineal massage next week but didn't know it was only 7% less risk of tearing! Yoga teacher raves on about that also.

Hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend. x

DesperateHousewife21 · 28/05/2010 11:46

Its going to get confusing, Ill think people are talking to me when they say tash lol.

kapars yeah Ive been sitting here watching the tv doing them! Will try to remember to do them daily now.

My friend is being induced on Sunday, she'll be 2 weeks overdue by then, havent heard anything today as yet. She really doesnt want to be induced though, but if she is she'll give birth at the same hospital Im going to so she can tell me how she found it!

Chulita · 28/05/2010 12:29

Yay! got to see the ducks and DH has the afternoon off

Welcome tash and 2Issey.

DH was really sweet last night, LO was booting away quite merrily just as I was trying to get to sleep and he rested his head on my bump and was telling it to calm down and get some rest. Just cute cos he never gets 'involved' with bumplet so that made a nice change!

stac if it's any consolation we're not having any sex either. Can't wait to get back to it, just too painful at the mo...hard work on the men though - I'm impressed at how patient DH is!

stac14 · 28/05/2010 13:36

welcome tash and 2issey how have you been so far?

My delivery came its a mamas n papas travel cot and a sheepskin liner that can be used in pram, car chair or just to lay on the floor its lovely and soft. I can imagine lo laying on it x

chulita think i feel more guilty for him cos to be honest i'm not fussed lol. Hope you have a lovely afternoon with dp.

kapars i was told rose oil was great after giving birth even if its a section as it soothes bruising, helps with scarring and pain. Its best put in your bath.

Well i suppose i better get on with the housework x

OP posts:
kkfairybrains · 28/05/2010 16:01

stac thats a lovely pressie! gets all the more exciting when you start getting lovely gifts! hows the pain today is the belt helping?
dh i always get braxton hicks after we do the deed too! although up until 2 night ago it was 3 or 4 weeks since we done it cos he couldn't with his knee and i was killed with thrush before that. but 2 nights in a row now! think he must be starting to think we better do it as much as possible cos he wont be getting anything in a few weeks!
35 weeks today! eeek! 5 weeks left .!!! the hall is finished being painted and i love it! the colours are so yummy! have to finish painting what will be the dining/ironing/baby stuff room and our littlw bathroom and then carpets and we're pretty much sorted! the painter is going to do the outside of the house next week then and baby's room after its born.was just saying today although im really anxious to have everything done and ready im nearly glad to have something to keep my head occupied so the wait doesn't seem as long!
whats everyones plans for the weekend? im getting my highlights done in the morn! only 7 or 8 weeks since i got them done but my hair grows so quick so its a show! then i have to spend the weekend doing other peoples hair!

DesperateHousewife21 · 28/05/2010 16:32

stac the delivery def sounds worth staying in for. My sister said sheepskin is really good to line the buggy/car seat with as it keeps baby cool in summer and warm in winter.

kk yeah my tummy usually goes hard afterwards but I got up to go to the loo and my bump really hurt on both sides, it eased off during the night though so not worried. I think it was maybe cos we were at it for alot longer and was alot more vigorous

I didnt go out in the end, I fell asleep on the sofa after lunch til 3pm! Then watched some tv while eating popcorn now its just the wait til DP gets home.
Feeling pretty groggy though, I should have gone out but if I dont have an exact place to go I end up going out for a grand total of half an hour and feeling like a bit of a lemon just wandering around I feel like people look at me.

stac14 · 28/05/2010 17:22

kk the pains not to bad today, its the boob thing thats annoying but i'm sure the antibiotics will help. Lucky you getting your hair done, mine has grew loads and defo needs done as soon as. The decorating sounds lovely, just need to get bil to get ours done. I'm starting to get anxious bout it.

dh i love the sheepskin thing and its a lovely gift but i wouldnt have thought of getting it myself. I had a long snooze today then took the dog out and did some housework. I now have the lovely facemask from tesco on. Dp is late in tonight too, pain in the butt lol x

Anifersgirl · 28/05/2010 17:56

Kapars i got that 7% statistic from Wikipedia, so don't take it as gospel. I was reading up on it today and it seem the general consensus is that it's more effective for first time mums, but the benefits are largely anecdotal and your chance of tearing has much more to do with lots of other factors. I did actually attempt to do it this morning, just to see what it felt like and OW! Left me twinging and stinging and uncomfortable for AGES. F*ck that!

My friend had her 20 week scan today - she's also having a girl so that's glorious.

Husband is off on a stag all weekend (they left at 6am this morning) so I'm planning on finishing the gardening - getting all the veg in and things potted up, then sorting out the garage - we've got these shelves from Ikea that need to be built and then everything needs to be organised.

Then the plan is to clear out the spare room/nursery, take down all the shelves and blinds in there. Give the walls a wash down, paint all the skirting and ceiling and then do the testers, so that when DH gets back on Sunday night he can make a choice of colours then I can whip out first thing Monday morning and buy the paint and get on with the nursery.

That's the plan anyway...

kkfairybrains · 28/05/2010 17:59

stac yeah i def agree with the getting anxious especially when nobody is making a move to get something done. i've been wanting all these jobs done since we moved into the house a year ago and only now since i've grabbed the bull by the horns myself is anything being done.sounds like you and dh are going through what i went through for a couple of weeks with the tiredness and the daytime naps. i couldn't function properly at all and had to nap but this week i've been feeling great again thank god! long may it last!

memphis83 · 28/05/2010 18:12

afternoon ladies, anifers if it hurt massaging it what the hell will it feel like when a 9 pound baby charges its body through it??? now im worried!!!
im 34 weeks today but measuring my bump im measuring 37 weeks!!!! eeek
dh has lost his wallet on payday! so thats magnificent! had a busy day went to a suppliers with my mum just for the drive and i forgot about all the steps to get in there (about 50) it took ages i struggle with our steps to bed! we went pizza hut for lunch and i bought a lovely frame with 5 mounts in it and the word baby at the bottom looks quite expensive but only cost £3!!
dh made me laugh at vigorous sex!! i actually turned down dh for 1st time ever last night he was very shocked but totally understands! i think LO has dropped as his bottom is now on my bellybutton but hes more active than ever and seems to be stretching all the time which hurts!

stac14 · 28/05/2010 18:23

memphis how do you measure it or does your mw do it? Oh and for getting baby out take the drugs lol soz bout dps wallet, can you not transfer cash from his account to yours?

kk was thinking it was the infection working round my body, but probs is pregnancy tiredness hope i get nesting soon lol

anifers fab news bout your friend :-D you have a really busy weekend ahead. Wish i was able to do it in my own house

stac you will feel a bit run down and rubbish if you have an infection your body is fighting it and giving baby goodness too so there is nothing left to perk you up!! hopefully antibiotics will kick in soon. the way the midwife measures it is the size of you uterus so from your pubic bone over top of bump then feel at the top you should feel top of uterus (mine feels like a football) you measure in cm (lying down)and it should grow a cm a week so i should ne 3 cm smaller!! (my sister is a nurse and her friend is a mw so she measured me today and showed me how its done) when i was in hospital i was measuring in inches around my waist and i lost 2 inches in the week and they told me off as it isnt accurate to measure like that!!
as for dh's wallet we will draw money out in morning, money no needed as ive got my account was just a bit miffed as he promised to take me shopping for some nice pj's his treat and its just typical when he offers a spending spree on me, no wallet!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 28/05/2010 21:06

memphis lol Im surprised I can even manage vigorous sex anymore tbh!

mlic having a nap in the afternoon keeps me going at night LOL

Ive run out of clothes! my maternity jeans dont fit me anymore. I have my white linen trousers but only suitable when its hot. I dont feel like there is much point buying anymore maternity clothes with only a few weeks left to go.

I wish Primark did maternity clothes, Im going there tomorrow with my mum and sister. Would be a big bonus if they did, its so cheap and I dont want to spend another fortune on maternity clothes.

memphis83 · 28/05/2010 21:17

dh my maternity jeans were £16 from new look and they have expandable sides rather than over bum band, and still have loads of growing room, i bet you would get about half back if you sold them on e bay after??peacocks also have quite cheap maternity jeans 2

DesperateHousewife21 · 28/05/2010 21:22

memphis yeah they are the jeans that I bought which now dont fit me! I find that over the bump trousers/jeans fit me better than under the bump ones as I feel like they are cutting me in half when I sit down.
Will have a look in peacocks tomorrow as there is one in the town Im going to
