It's ok colinsmommy, still here! Glad the birthday celebrations went well!

Eulalia, good to hear Paul is doing well and belated 40th birthday wishes to you !!!

Still got on-going probs with M&P's - see my other thread for details M&P's fiasco On top of which we were woken by our neighbour late last night to say that he'd chased off a bunch of drunk lads who he'd caught taking the ariel off our car and his - he'd come out house to find them on top of his dad's car trying to pull off the wiper blades. Dh contacted police and there appears to be no damage to the car - ariel went back on fine. Just not what we needed, didn't sleep well as a result! Stupidly kept going over the what ifs as we've installed the car seat ready and if they'd been breaking in goodness knows how long it would take to sort out a new one given all the hassle with M&P's so far. Anyway live in quiet area and is probably a one off, so guess I really shouldn't worry. Just wandering what other spanners will appear in the works before this baby arrives!

josey · 19/08/2005 14:50

oh twiga hope you have managed to get things organised now and the driver has finally turned up with your stuff.

colinsmommy im still here as well just dont really have anything to say so havent posted though have been checking in.

1 week tomorrow what a count down, its funny seeing the look on peoples faces when they ask how long now and you say oh next saturday!!they kind of back away quickly just incase you might drop at there feet

I have kind of had a turning point the last couple of days and instead of being really fed up and wanting it over with am totally terrified and dont want to go into labour at all have decided i will just stay this way - not sure why i have got so scared all of a sudden im convinced i will not manage/cope with labour or the change to life after, anyone else felt this way this late on?

M&P's situation still a mess. All furniture fine apart from cot, which dispite reassurances is really damaged - covered in dents and scuff marks (dh has photographed all the damage) and both catches for drop side are left hand catches and both damaged, one to the point where only a slight knock could cause the side to drop by itself - in our opinion dangerous . So we're now waiting for a call back by 4pm to see what can be done. Delivery driver very sympathetic and agreed with dh that cot unacceptable also indicated that he was very suprised that there supposedly wasn't a new one available even though discontinued and that we'd only been ofered an ex-display model.

KMS · 19/08/2005 16:51

Congratulations to Dazie and Misschief.

Good luck to all those still waiting.

Glad most of your stuff turned up ok twiga, make sure they sort the cot out!!

Hope to get enough time to write out anouncment soon!!

colinsmommy · 20/08/2005 00:32

Glad to know that some of you are still around.

What a horrible time you've been having Twiga. It makes me glad we have everything already this time around.

Josey, I'm feeling the exact same way about labor. I went to the dr. today, and told her about it, and she said it was a very normal thing that almost every mother started worring about at this time. She said she knew I'd do fine, but that still doesn't really help.

I'm 3 cm dilated now, and the head isn't as low as it was last week. I was hoping to be further along, but have just the slightest hint of a cold, so am worn out, and maybe don't want it to come quite yet.

josey · 20/08/2005 10:48

Colinsmommy im glad to hear im not the only one, this might sound like a daft question but are you checked internally at every appointment? i dont know if i would like to know if anything was happening or not especially just now.

OP posts:
colinsmommy · 20/08/2005 16:22

Not a daft question, I've learned several differences between having a baby there and here. Yes, I get checked internally the last 4 weeks of appointments. I can refuse if I want, but I'm just too nosey, I guess. It doesn't really matter that much with me, because I can hold onto the baby for so long, the dr. can't predict when it will be "soon" for me to go into labor.

Em32 · 20/08/2005 22:01

I'm still here too, was checked at hospital today as LO gone very quiet (of course she got the hiccups and proved she was very much still alive) so just me being neurotic!

Eulalia · 21/08/2005 10:50

Yes I was nervous about the birth not so much the first time as I didn't know what to expect, and was fairly nervous this 3rd time round. For some reason I was extremely confident and upbeat about my 2nd and it turned out to be a really easy labour. Probably just coincidence.

Feeling quite tired now - probably just the past few weeks catching up on me. Went to another BBQ yesterday - weather was fantastic. had to go to bed early though.

Twiga - what an awful situation with M&Ps and with your car too. Hope that's all the bad things out of hte way before you meet baby.

Seems like forever since I was last on this thread and its only just over 3 weeks.

Dazie · 21/08/2005 19:24

Hi all, just popping in to see who is still around.

For some reason I was really frightened this time around, I didnt want to go through labour when I was, I kept asking for a c section! Its completely natural to feel that way!

Twiga - I cannot believe that m&ps has treated you this way and just before the baby is born, they must have known the cot was not suitable! Whats the latest??

Good luck to all still waiting!!

Azure · 21/08/2005 20:41

Hello everyone. Benjamin Thomas (probably!) was born on Thursday morning by planned c-section, weighing in at 6 lbs 15 oz. Everything went well and I only spent two nights in hospital, back home late afternoon yesterday. Baby feeding well if frequently and my biggest challenge is trying to stop an overenthusiastic DS1 from jumping on him. Best of luck to everyone still to go - I'll write a birth announcement and on the post-natal thread tomorrow.

josey · 22/08/2005 09:23

congratualtions Azure - glad everything went well for you and welcome Benjamin Thomas(probably)

Still plodding on here, i really need to have this over with, i spent all day yesterday in tears i have no idea why apart from being hormonal, i even cryed watching some of x factor thats how insane im getting. And what ever way the baby is lying hurts then i proceeded to be sick just after i got in a nice position in bed - hope today is a better day

It's really lovely to hear about all these babies arriving. I've been lurking, reading the August thread for a few months and am due on Bank Holiday Monday. At the moment, if feels as though it's never going to happen so reading about other August people actually having their babies is doing me the world of good on a very rainy Monday morning. Good luck to the rest of you still waiting like me...

kate100 · 22/08/2005 10:47

Congratulations Azure, glad that it all went well and you got the birth you wanted. Like the name

Having a torrid time at the moment. DS1 has broken his leg and has ben in hospital, which has essentially sent feeding up the shoot. It never rains.......

leahbump · 22/08/2005 14:01

Just off to post a birth announcement!!

But am sending labour vibes to you all........

It's so worth the waiting!! even 2nd time around!!

Bump landed on 17.8.05!

Azure · 22/08/2005 14:38

Many congratulations Leahbump - off to read the announcement!

colinsmommy · 22/08/2005 18:56

Congratulations, leahbump!!!

Good to see you still here, Em32, too.

Felt awful this weekend, but set DH to rearranging the furniture between our living room and computer room. Now we have even more to take to the dump. I hope I have this baby soon, or else I might just throw away everything in the house.

josey · 23/08/2005 09:25

how many are there of us on theis thread still to have our babies??? any idea. I think we have more boys than girls

Colinsmommy im still holding on and dont have much hope of going early however, my Mum lives on an Island and when ever there is something happening she is unable to get off due to weather and guess what there is a storm brewing for tomorrow so what is likely to happen i will go tonight DS was born albeat in December but she didnt make it down for 3 weeks after his birth I would hate for her to miss things again.

OP posts:
Em32 · 23/08/2005 09:31

Still here, thought I might be early but now beginning to lose hope! I'm pretty sure I've been gradually dilating for a least a week as have had those period type pains on and off for a while. I'm finding it very hard to walk anywhere for much longer than 10 minutes now....
Congratulations to everyone who has recently given birth.

Twiga · 23/08/2005 10:02

Sorry, all I seem to do is moan on here hteses days - M&P situation still on going, we had to choose a totally diff cot in the end (won't match but sould tone in ok) - was supposed to be with us yesterday or today but when dh eventually got them on the phone yesterday were told will have to wait until thursday. All very frustrating!

Congratulations Leahbump! Hope this means you are a lot less sore and more mobile.

Big congratualtions to Azure too!!! Glad things went the way you wanted.

Still hanging on in here, looks like this baby hasn't heard that it's common in our families to be early! Getting lots of niggles and head well down but no signs of an appearance. MW is estimating that baby will be around 7lb and doesn't think I'll go too far over if at all?! Have been offered a membrane sweep is nothing has happened by the 2nd Sept which is my next mw appt - not sure if I fancy it but don't fancy hanging on too much longer either. Consultant has me down for induction at 40+10 (10th Sept) Really want to avoid this if at all possible - dh has been giving bump wee pep talks about how to get out before this happens ! Not really sure why but find the whole idea of induction a bit scarey.

josey · 23/08/2005 17:29

Twiga what shame you are still having problems with M & P and at this late stage.

Im having lots of niggles today as well its kind of like elastic bands pinging in my lower stomach and back, its about the best way i can discrib it, and one minute im full of beans and the next im ready for falling asleep on the spot.

At least you have been given a date to go to hospital if you are overdue or have been offered a sweep, they seem to have just kind of left me too it now - i have an appointment at the clinic tomorrow so will see what my midwife has to say.

OP posts:
colinsmommy · 23/08/2005 20:52

Hmm, well if you hang out till your induction date Twiga, then I will be before you at least. I don't get to go much over because of Colin's size, they don't want me to have a huge baby.

Em, I feel the same as you. More than 10 minutes, and I'm done with walking. DH has gone to the grocery store for me, and I feel so lazy.

They don't do sweeps here in the US, I'm not sure if I'm happy about that or not, tbh.

Glad you're still here, too, Josey. Hope your mom makes it.

Twiga · 23/08/2005 21:04

Colinsmommy, please don't wish me ten days over so tired just now and getting very impatient - the 10th feels like a life time away. Maybe we could pick a date and see if we can't go at the same time - I'm thinking sometime fri/sat would be nice - that way my nursery should be finished and I'll have nothing left to wait for. Sure I'll be here a bit longer to keep you company and I'm banking on you going before me, just not that much before!

Josey and Em32 good to see you guys are still around too!

beachyhead · 23/08/2005 21:41

Just checking in to wish the remainers good luck - Georgina Eve checked in this time last week on Tuesday by planned cs and weighed 7 lbs 2 1/2 ozs. I got home on Friday and although feeling a bit beaten up v. happy.........

I'll post a birth announcement

Twiga · 23/08/2005 22:33

Congratulations Beachyhead - lovely names !
