Hiya girls

Back from wedding now, and we have had a mammoth spending weekend too. We're not used to staying in hotels and were somewhat shockt at the bill at the end! Hair do's for dd and me also cost over 100 quid, and then there was, oh I'll stop griping, we had a great time, and it's only money after all.

Feel knackered now, we're just got back after a 5 hour drive, and dh and kids have gone out to a house warming party. i couldn't face it, so now have the house to myself. a nice relaxing bath beckons, and some peaceful me time. I must put on a wash first tho....

Chuffed, good luck on your travels, I'm sure you'll all have a fab time. Look after yourself, and it'll be great to hear from you when you get back online, from NZ presumably?

Podsley, welcome and congratulations, when are you due?

Georgie, is it this coming weekend that you'll be married? Have a great time, and enjoy all the attention and pressies! My only regret is that we didn't have a video done. It seemed too intrusive at the time, but I'd love to look back over it now. The day goes by in a whirl, and it's hard to remember everything. Are you having a vid done?

Sweetkitty, just remind me, where are you travelling to? i've forgotten and can't be bothered to trawl back over old threads.

See y'all later.

podsley · 28/08/2005 22:38

Lyra41 - Hello, I am due Jan 25th which is just a week before my partners 30th birthday, he keeps mentioning it saying he will be celebrating and going out etc......I said I don't think so, if baby comes before he'll be at home helping look after him/her. If it is afterwards I don't think I can let him get drunk in case it comes half way through the night! Oh well thats responsibility for you!

Am just starting to show now so am struggling to find clothes to fit. Maternity clothes too big and normal clothes too small. I've decided to not bother for a while and wear elasticated waists from BHS Mmmmmmm lovely!

Rachey1969 · 29/08/2005 09:19

Bon Voyage Chuffed, take care!

Welcome Podsley, if you're only in elasticated waists, do I take it this is your first baby!?

podsley · 29/08/2005 10:14

Yes it is, still learning! I suppose I haven't stretched enough to show yet, no doubt the second and third are more evident earlier on? You can't really tell I'm pregnant unles you know me!

The only problem is that I think people just think I'm fat and eaten too many pies

sweetkitty · 29/08/2005 15:18

hiya sorry but I'm due number 2 and I'm still in my normal jeans, was bigger last time, remember binning the normal "work suits" for the lovely maternity workwear at about 18 weeks last time. Today I'm wearing the t-shirt I gave birth to DD in!

Lyra - glad you had a nice time at the wedding,I'm not travelling anywhere I wish I was, we are hopefully moving house in September after a saga that has lasted a year!

lyra41 · 30/08/2005 11:04

Mornin all

What are u up to today?

I've had a bit of a sorting and cleaning fit, so off to the charity shop soon. Nesting seems to be happening rather early this time. Then I'm going to an aquanatal class, I could do with a bit of exercise and me time. Does anyone else do aquanatal?

Rachey, have all your swelling symptoms gone away now that the hot weather's abated? I hope so. And how is your friend M doing now?

Spangles, how is the house coming on? What are your new sofas like? I wish my dh was decorating all of the downstairs of our house (like yours is), decorating tends to happen about once every 10 years or so in our house, we're not exactly house beautiful! I did get the through lounge sorted laast year however, and I really enjoy being in here. Varnished wood floors, 2 dark red rugs, dark red curtains in bay and pation doors and cream walls and wooden dressers. Very relaxing and fairly easy to keep reasonably tidy. Do you go for bold colours in your house or plain muted walls?

Well, I need to go and make my sandwich for after AQN so I'll say goodbye.

Jaysfirst · 30/08/2005 11:48

hiya peeps

havent been on here for aaaaaaaaaaages. Quick recap-
I'm Jay, first baby due on Dec 31 ( great planning huh!!) got married three weeks ago Had a really hectic time of it lately. Am studying as part of my job, but really not had any motivation to do anything for about two months now. 23 weeks on friday, and last week had my second scan reveal that my first born will be a girl. Am glad i found out, i was going to wait but i was so convinced it was a boy i had to know. Must admit ( and i feel guilty about this ) i was shocked when it was a girl and felt a bit disapointed, but needless to say it was only till it had sunk in, now am really looking forward to meeting her for the first time!
Have felt really pregnant the last cpl of weeks, still have a few stretchy non mat clothes that i am wearing but have had to buy trousers, jeans and some mat tops.I love it, i want to show off my bump all the time.
Luckily i havent had morning sickness or anything too bad. Do suffer with a bad back but i did before, being pregnant just makes it worse. Slipped in the shower about four weeks ago and strained the ligaments in the tummy and pubis area god its painful, but its slowly getting better! am feeling quite a few movments now, really strange, not like the butterfly movements that everyone talks about, more like a ' thudding' on the inside of my tummy. It has to be her moving though, i have never had this feeling before! So exciting to feel it!
I suddenly thought the other day that i havent sorted out any antenatel classes or anything. Anyone know of classes in the Esher /Hersham ( Surrey) area? I also want to do some pilates for pregnant mums, i will have a look round but if theres anyone that does it or knows about it, let me know!!
Righty ho, i will TRY and do some revision for an exam i have in two weeks, have put it off quite long enough!

GeorgieM · 30/08/2005 11:54

Hi there

Aha, someone else has bee nesting! I managed to make a large dent on the credit card this weekend by buying sofa bed, armchair, wallpaper, fabric (for curtains and roman blinds that I@m going to make), armoire. Just looked at the house and decided that it needed a face life before Beany arived. DP didn't know what hit him. But to bw fair he left me alone to get on with it and made v encouraging noises about colour's etc!

Didn't go as far as buying new car though!

Would love to go to aquanatal class or the gym but have been warned off all excercise (and sex!) because of my stitch. Of course now I can't do it, I want to do it all the more.

Bye Chuffed. Have a lovely, lovely time. Get back in contact and tell us all about your new home.

And hi Podsley. Nice to have you on board.

3 days to go until the wedding.....will try not to bore you all with last minute panics and nerves! Might start chanting some type of mantra!!

Right, am off to pick up DD from pre-school and then a trip to the swings seems to be in order.

Laters ladies xx

sweetkitty · 30/08/2005 12:02

wow georgie 3 days to go!! best of luck with all the preparations.

welcome back jaysfirst - girls are great btw.

Well we have to go see the solicitor on Thursday about all the legal stuff to do with the house, we went window shopping for furniture at the weekend, can't wait to get decorating/nesting. Friday is scan day!!! Am so excited to see little peanut again (although not so little now) and find out the sex.

Going to my mums today as all my aunts (5) are going to be there so they will be wanting to see DD I really cannot be bothered with all the "whats happening with the house" and "baby" questions. I'm a black sheep in our family as I have a) been to university b) moved away from out home town c) had a baby and not been married d) breastfed that baby for 12 months e)want more than the regulation 2 children so they look on me as some kind of oddity!

lyra41 · 30/08/2005 18:21

Hi jaysfirst - great to hear from you. Congratulations that you're carrying a girl - I adore mine. She's 10 now, and I have to say she's more like hard work than my son (in terms of more emotionally complicated), but really funny and good company too. And I've loved all the buying cute girlie clothes part too. She prefers to choose her own now, so I'll have to make do with buying cute small garments for number 3.

Georgie

Only 3 days to go, wow! Stay calm girl, chant that mantra! We just got back from a wedding, and I have to say it was great, so joyful and lovley to get together with family that we don't see often. Hope yours fulfils all your dreams and plans.

Sweetkitty

Hope your trip to your ma's goes well and the rash of aunts isn't too overwhelming.

Aqua was great today, just 8 of us there, so pretty sociable too.

See y'all later, got to put the pasta on.

loomer · 31/08/2005 14:06

Hi all

A quick post in my lunchour at work:

Sweetkitty - I don't understand how you can be seen as a black sheep for having done the things that you list... sounds like the life of a completely sane and normal person to me!

Podsley - welcome and good luck with the scan - if all is well for you and babs it is just the most fantastic experience. I keep wishing I could re-live mine over and over. Just hope you don't have to pay rip-off prices for pics. My O&G have a box for donations with a 'suggested' amount of £5, which I don't begrudge as we got about eight pics from it. But DH was rather incensed... "what do we pay our taxes for... bl**dy NHS..." and so on!

Georgie - big luck for the big day - I'm going to a close friend's wedding this Friday, am very excited, I love weddings (better if it's friends and not family I find, as you can do without all the small talk and just have fun!). The weather forecast is good for most of the country - whereabouts are you?

Hunkermunker - what was the ad on the homepage??? We must know!!

Mak - good to hear from you, you don't appear to have crashed the thread yet! Loved your story about the Kama Sutra... bless her little innocent mind, she was probably loving all the pretty coloured pictures!

Hope everyone had a good weekend, and got out in the beautiful sunshine (those who saw it). It's so dull being back in the office now - and too damned HOT. Jeepers I would love a bit of air conditioning!

GeorgieM · 01/09/2005 09:05

Hi y'all. Just a quick one to say ahhhhhhh, beginning to get v nervous and excited. Am sure I'll spend most of today running around in a flap!

If any of you remember, it's tomorrow at 1pm in a lovely place called Cannizaro House on Wimbledon Common, so raise a glass of something if you fancy toasting the new Mr and Mrs P!

Thanks for all your good wishes. Makes me feel all rosey and glow-y!

I'll post pictures next week if anyone wants to laugh at the 'shotgun bride'!! And will bore you all silly with details. Really hope my Granny doesn't get plastered and start dancing!!!

G xx

PS - Jaysfirst - you're only down the A3 from me (am in Wimbledon), so maybe we can meet after the bubs are born for some mutal support!).

lyra41 · 01/09/2005 09:30

Hi Georgie

All the best for tomorrow, will be thinking of you. I'm sure you'll have a fab day. It will be great to see some photos and to hear all about it. Are you going away on holiday afterwards? If so where?

Are you spending the day with a friend today? Hope you get some time to do some girlie pampering, doing each others' faces and nails etc. I really enjoyed that part of my sil's wedding last weekend.

Lots of love and hugs xxxxx

sweetkitty · 01/09/2005 09:37

Best of luck for tomorrow Georgie very exciting! Can't wait to see the pictures!

21 weeks today going to sign the documents for our new house today can't believe we may actually be moving! Scan day tomorrow am v v excited about it too. My friend whos due 2 days after me had hers on Tuesday and it's a boy (she already has a 3yo DD) so she's delighted. I don't have an incling one way or another this time, some times I think boy and others I think no it's a little girl.

hunkermunker · 01/09/2005 09:40

Sorry! Keep forgetting to read this thread

The ad was the Milupa breastfeeding supportline... There are numerous threads on it, so won't go into more detail for fear of things kicking off again!

Hope all are well. Will catch up with the thread later. Did just spy Georgie's post - hope you have a wonderful day! Remember to look around every now and then for some mental snapshots - it'll go SO fast!

I'm OK - baby very active and kicky and had hiccups for the first time the other day!

Still waiting to hear from community midwife re homebirth - will chase in a couple of weeks if I've still not heard.

Rachey1969 · 01/09/2005 11:32

HI all, am back in work and finding it a little strange after a month off! It's hard enough managing time working from home and I was up at 6am this morning to finish a sexual health report, really trying to lie low till I finish at Christmas.

Georgie - all the best for tomorrow, can't wait to see the pictures, have a fantastic day. Poor you, no sex! I'm sure you can use your imagination and improvise...

Sweetkitty - don't worry, I have done all those things too unlike anyone who lives round here! Good luck with the house move and the scan.

Lyra - the swelling went thank god, but I'm waiting for a blow-up splint for my ankle, dp has put my name down for my electric wheelchair already M is coping well, she is so much stronger than I am, she gets down sometimes at what might have been and really wants to try again but she needs to wait for the autopsy.

Jaysfirst - welcome back and don't worry about having a girl, I had 2 boys first (and am expecting another) and I love to spend a day with her painting nails etc, she keeps me sane with her 7yr old hormones in a house full of men and their football! She really is a mini-me right down to her mood swings.

Hunkermunker - will investigate immediately, I expect their kind of breastfeeding support was to suggest you bottle feed...

I have joined a research study looking at probiotic supplements and atopy. As a researcher and as I have asthma and a couple of allergies myself I have been so lucky that none of my 3 have been affected so far. I will get probiotic powder to put on my nipples (!) and in baby's food (although I may get the placebo of course). The research team want my placenta! also some blood, and samples of breastmilk, baby's poo etc. They will allergy test and track us for five years.

By the way has anyone got their Mat B1 form? The midwife says they won't give them out now until 26 weeks while work want it 15 weeks before baby is due... It used to be 20 weeks I'm sure.

Take care all!

lyra41 · 01/09/2005 14:07

Rachey

Do they need any more volunteers for that allergy study? I'm asthmatic and allergic to cats, dogs and dust, and would like to protect ds 3 from allergies if I can. My other 2 seem to have escaped allergies apart from hayfever. Let me know if so.

What is the blow up splint for?

I haven't got my Mat B1 form either. I'd forgotten all about it tbh, thanks for reminding me. I'll ask at my next ante-natal check.

lyra41 · 02/09/2005 05:57

Anyone into online grocery shopping?

This code VOU2157324 gives £15 off orders over £75 from Ocado (Waitrose). Website www.Ocado.com

Rachey1969 · 02/09/2005 09:06

Lyra, I think you would have to live near Swansea to participate as they need so many samples. It's run by the school of medicine here. Maybe worth asking locally though, it is definitely the in thing at the moment, a lot of formulas are having probiotics added - I hope it doesn't affect breastfeeding rates.

The blow up splint is for my 'tarsal tunnel syndrome' a bit like carpal tunnel syndrome except in my ankle, I must have injured it years ago and as a result I have a trapped nerve - hurts enough to wake me up sometimes.

Yes! I have just discovered online shopping, I love my cuddly fairtrade co-op, but their stock is limited and parking/packing is a right pain. We don't have waitrose round here, but I use it with Tesco and its a great way to stock up on groceries/dry stuff. I have a code too: XX-PLFT (from a magazine) to get £5 off when you spend £50 until 30/10/05, which covers delivery (www.tesco.com). Too be honest, I think it covers all the superfluous magazines, make up and sandwiches that I chuck in the trolley! Plus the petrol to get there, I think it will be great to avoid taking a baby round when you're shopping for six + dog like I do.

Mumfun · 02/09/2005 21:46

Hi

To answer a few things: I havent got my MatB1 either - will ask next midwife visit - chemist was very sympathetic recently and just signed prescription that I didnt have to pay.: Love online shopping - thanks for voucher info. Hope Georgie wedding was fab - at least we had the best weather in WImbledon.: Have also been shopping majorly - new car last weekend -havent had one for 4 years so looking forward to better mobility in late part of pregnancy.

Had scan yesterday (20 weeks) Was lovely, relaxed, saw loads and all was well - very lively baby.Did not ask sex but we did get a quick groin shot with obvious umbilical cord but maybe nothing else - interesting - has now made me think might be girl but glad still to have the mystery.

Absolutely shattered this week - cant beleive how tired I am - thought I would have more energy by now but todddler obviously makes a bigger difference than I thought.

Hope all other scans well. My next hospital appointment is with consultant to see how to get me throught the birth less damaged than last time - interesting - midwife suggested maybe a caesar but Id prefer not if poss. Have to see what they say.

sweetkitty · 02/09/2005 21:50

hi

I had my scan today all's well did ask sex but they couldn't tell woman didn't look that hard I think. Shes was really narky as well. Still think we are having a girl.

lyra41 · 04/09/2005 20:25

Hi all,

you must be having very busy weekends, no one around.

I'm feeling very proud (and tired!) as I managed to have a late night and enjoy myself last night for the first time in ages. We went to a party at a friend's, and it got to about 11 and I was having a good time, but was starting to get very tired, so I went upstairs for a lie-down, fell asleep for about an hour and a half, then woke up (cos the dancing had got so loud) and came down and managed to wake up enough to party on down (even dancing!) till about 2:30! I did, of course need a good nap this afternoon, but I'm hoping I might be out of the very tired stage for a while.

It's been lovely and sunny here in Manchester today, and yesterday. Got tons of washing done, but now it all needs putting away, which I hate, and always leave till the last minute.

Babe is getting ever more active, but still can't see kicks on the surface of my bump yet, and no one's patient enough to leave their hand on my tummy to wait for movement. This baby's quite private and burrowed deep I think!

Anyone still waiting for their anomoly scan?

My friend K had her baby 2 weeks ago - Kyle, 9lb 9oz (!), and last night he slept 11 - 6! There's hope for us yet ladies. Part of me hopes for a big babe, as my first was big and a great sleeper, but I also think of the size of the head and the labour, and that puts me off a big un. Rachey, what did your others weigh? Also I've read a bit about the probiotics and allergy on another thread, and I think I'll give them a try, maybe with the flaxseed oil too. Hope it clears up my excema too.

Hoping to hear from y'all soon.

Rachey1969 · 05/09/2005 13:48

Hi there, I've been away meeting Devon branch of dp's family. Kids back from Spain with dad and ds1 has awful ear infection which we have to take to get vacuumed at the ENT casulty this afternoon! He starts comp tomorrow so I hope he's fit. All new pencil cases round here! Any little ones starting school?

Goodnews about scans, feels like downhill to Christmas now, doesn't it?

Hope Georgie's wedding went well, is she on honeymoon?

Lyra - ds1 was 9lb 5, ds2 was 8lb 12 and dd was 9lb 2. What were yours? Dp is 6'5''! but apparently only 8lb 2 at birth, his mother is tiny! so I really don't know what to expect.

sweetkitty · 05/09/2005 14:35

wow rachey you have big babies

DD was 6lbs 3ozs but I was 37+5 when she was born, am hoping for another earlybird but not too early (ie New Year)

Still a bit annoyed by the scan the sonographer wasn't that nice and I'm sure she could tell and wasn't telling! Am pretty certain it's a girl am delighted though as there will only be 18 months between them so hopefully DD and her? will be really close. Think it's better for DD too, DD is a model baby you couldn't ask for a better one so this one is going to be a little terror I'm sure.

GeorgieM · 05/09/2005 20:51

Hi girls, it's the new Mrs P! Thanks for all your kind wishes.

Am just about coming back down to earth after Friday. Had such am amazing day. Couldn't have asked for anything more. The weather was perfect. DD was an absolute angel all day. Friends and family were superb company (only 19 of us), all in-laws got on like house on fire.

My (Irish) uncle got completely smashed and tried to get everyone going with a rousing courus of 'Oh Danny Boy'!. Granny feel asleep at the dinner table and my little 7 month old second cousin spewed all over his mummy's posh frock!!!

We went away this weekend to Cowley Manor in Gloucestershire. Just the two of us. We slept, ate, read and lounged around. Even managed to have a joke about how we must be the only just married couple that has a sex ban on their honeymoon!!!! Guess I should be happy that I won't be coming back with a raging case of honeymoon cystitis!

DH has booked us into a fab hotel in Dubai for our honeymoon. We fly next Tues. Am really looking forward to it.

Will post some pics when I get them thru from my dad and mum-in-law.

Beany contunues to kick me in the crutch at every given opportunity. Little minx! She/he's also doing some pretty spectacular karate kicks in there as well. Got anomoly scan on 8th Sept.

Rachey and Lyra - got any good games for a 4 year old's birthday party? DD's party on Saturday and wondering whether it's best to stic to tried and tested stuff like pass the parcel and pin the tail on the dnkey, or whether times have moved on and they prefer something more sophisticated!

Anyway, enough from me. Glad to hear that everyone is thriving. Promise to stop boring you with wedding stuff now!
