Oh, god I have so much work to do! Popped on for a quick diversion...

Sweetkitty - a 4d scan sounds great, it's a good thing they don't do one anywhere near here or I would be tempted and I have a loft conversion to pay for! Speaking of which, I haven't exactly had the ok yet... but they have started! and hope to finish in 3 weeks (heres hoping..) dp parents have given us some cash and I have cleaned out my savings until I get the remortgage - I need to replenish my running away money - it makes me feel secure!

Iris - your pram sounds fab, my Jane is on top of the wardrobe to prevent me playing with it! I went on ebay to look for some more clothes and ended up with some lovely 2nd hand toys (nice Boots humpty/jack in box/octupus for £1-2 each). Also one of those new fangled (!) grobags for a fiver.

Loomer - I did wonder..! (about the job) I really felt for Roberta, she tried so hard. I would love to find out what happened (birth wise) to her (they do the gory details on BBC do they?) anyone know if there is a website or anything?

Hey, love soup? Didn't you know there were two football matches on last night! I just about managed to watch Eastenders at 10pm and half of 'hes having a baby'.

GeorgieM · 28/09/2005 17:46

Hooray, it's not just me that's suddenly started eating for England then! Cooked a fantastic (if i do say so myself...ahem) beef cobble last night. Type of good ole fashioned food that sticks to your ribs.DH in hog heaven. Me - fat, content and stranded on the couch watching Love Soup.... bliss.

Birth partner wil rpob be DH. It's his first time bless him. Although he was an absolute rock when i was in pre-term labour after stitch, so think he'll be super good with actual labour. Might have Mum on standby in case it all goes tits up though!

Had some good news today. Had scan of my stitch and cervix and it showed that cervix still long and closed and stitch holding everything together really well. It was around about this time last pg that things started to go a bit wobbly, so am mighty relieved that all looks good. Also had a lovely look at Beany and she's just gorgeous. Looks like DD - rosebud mouth, little button nose (DH glad she hasn't got his huge hooter!) and the most darling profile. Had a little weep afterwards. She's 2lbs 2oz now.

DH and I off to big Mamas and Paps store in Staines at the w/e to go look at prams, cots etc.

Rachey - Roberta ended up going into hospital in the end for safety reasons, but managed to push Rosa Poppi John out by herself without drugs.

Don't talk to me about sexy dreams..... would be nice if I could do something, anything! It's all well and good having a great snog, but I'm not 13 any more and it's just damn frustrating when it can't lead anywhere!!!!!

And can I just say... Peter Sellers?!?!?!?!

Should have digital pics of wedding in next couple of days. So will post for you all to giggle at.

G xx

lyra41 · 28/09/2005 18:30

That Love Soup didn't really do it for me, ended up falling asleep on the sofa, then going up to bed about 9:45. I'm just no good in the evenings any more.

Food fest for me today too. It was cake day at work, so lots of flapjack, lemon cupcakes and cheese puff pastry swirls abounded in the staffroom - yum - rounded off with fish and chips for tea.

I'm hoping to pick up my pram car seat combo in the next few weeks, got it through mumsnet for sale, I'll have to drive to Derby for it, but it's not that far, and it seems very new (for second hand) and a good price (£90). I haven't particularly got anywhere to put it having said that, can't wait till the babe's room is done, probably not for a couple of months, they haven't even given us a date for starting the loft....

Rainy and windy old evening here, feel tempted to light a fire, but not enough to go outside to get the wood and coal.

Still feel hungry! Might have to go for a cup of tea and a choccy biccy now.

iris66 · 29/09/2005 08:44

Lyra - just had a brainwave - well, a remembering wave anyway! lol
There are some self help things you can do to help your back (along with seeing a physio)There are acupuncture points behind your knees (dead centre)and also in the centre of your buttocks (imagine a line between hip and base of spine - it's the middle of that). Both are difficult to reach on your own but you could get DH/DP to massage them (one at a time as they may be tender) with the pad of his thumb (no digging!!) whilst you relax on your side/front. The knees work really well on lower back pain and the bum ones are particularly good for sciatic pain.
Think I must leave my work brain behind sometimes !!!!! Sooo sorry I didn't think to post this before ... hormones.....

RubyMummy · 29/09/2005 14:41

Hi! Just popping in on all the due threads to say how very jealous I am of you girls -my tiny baby born in June seems like a big girl already! I miss my bump and want to do it again! (Forgotten endless uncomfortable days at 41 weeks+ already...!)

Will shamelessly add that I have just listed loads of Ruby's lovely but outgrown clothes on the For Sale thread if anyone still needs anything!

Good luck all and loads of magic sprinkles for easy births

lyra41 · 30/09/2005 10:34

Rachey

Have you started taking your probiotics / placebo yet? I just ordered some in the hope that my asthma and excema will improve, and it will help the bump's immune system too. And did you get the mumomega in the end? They're still on the 3 for 2 offer at Boots, but still expensisve.

Rainy old day again here. I've got lots of lovely plants that need to go in the garden, but can't seem to get round to it. Bending over is so hard now isn't it, I always seem to have to groan in a very unattractive way when i need to get anything off the floor.

Got a "belly belt" yesterday, very handy for extending normal trousers and skirts into mat wear. Had to send off for it from php catalogue.

Just wanted to have a little moan :

Dh's birthday tomorrow, we went shopping today to choose him some art materials (his latest hobby), but also got him a Jamie Cullem album as a surprise. Some waster stole it out of my Tesco carrier from my car in the school car park yesterday. Grr!!! That'll teach me to leave the car open I suppose. I often do (did) as I drive a scruffy old micra, and imagined that thieves wouldn't be interested.

We're off for a meal tonight en famille with another family, to have a joint celebration for dh and me, and then to see Romeo and Juliet at the Royal Exchange tomorrow, a bit of a birthday festival for me!

Off to the shops now to replace dh's cd.

sweetkitty · 30/09/2005 13:57

Hi just checking in thats rotten about your DP's CD

Woke up last night with horrendous cramp in my leg, my calf muscle was in a ball it was so painful, must be the baby as have never had anything like it before. Pelvis and hips still hurting can't spend too much time sitting now as it hurts to get back up. Will have to concede defeat and get the maternity jeans out soon I think .

We have our 4D scan tomorrow very excited as we have had so many downs recently be nice to do something special, can't wait to find out what we are having as well.

I can't imagine DD being a tiny baby now although I have to admit even though she is harder work she is much better company now (14mo) than a newborn. She's such a little independent person now and it's great to see their personalities develop. Starting to worry though about having to cope with the both of them when DP is at work (don't have any family help unfortunately) but suppose I will just have to cope.

lyra41 · 30/09/2005 14:36

Sweetkitty

I get that cramp thing in my calf too in the night sometimes. Woke up screaming the place down the other night! Dh told me to pull my toes up and that helped, but my calf hurt for a couple of days afterwards.

Lucky you with your 4D scan tomorrow, do tell us all about it. Also lucky you just getting your mat jeans out - you svelte like woman you!! I'm even growing out of some of my new mat tops, either that or they've shrunk in the dryer. Seem to have gone shorter. My friend Karen's going to make me another mat dress, in fact I need to go and choose some material soon. Will go on my way to school in a bit.

I have found the CD!!! It wasn't stolen after all, I'd put it in my handbag for safekeeping and forgotten all about it. Really sufferring from pg brain atm. Keep forgetting everything.

horseshoe · 30/09/2005 14:47

I get calf cramp too...normally starts if I stretch my leg out in the middle of the night....then the next 5 minutes consist of me hopping round the bedroom trying to ease that searing pain......the calf hurts for all the next day after that!!!

Rachey1969 · 30/09/2005 15:16

Horseshoe - I've got the restless legs too, to add to the insomnia/difficult sleeping, it's all part of getting you used to not sleeping I reckon!

Sweekitty - can't wait to hear all about the 4d scan!

Lyra - bought the mumomega but not from BOots so will have to stock up - think I will take one a day and eat some fish as well. I dont think I will get any probiotics myself - they will give me powder to put on my nipples/in baby's food/drinks. Some free yoghurt drinks would hav been nice! Hey don't worry about a cd, I very very nearly posted a cheque for £2000 along with some letters yesterday!

I hope you have all joined the Boots parenting club - you get £5 of mediterranean cream, some soltan and a voucher for £16 worth of No.7. Plus loads of baby goodies later. I bought some No.7 'protect and perfect' beauty serum, I normally use cheap moisturiser but this stuff is lush and makes your face feel really peachy!

sweetkitty · 30/09/2005 15:19

at the CD story lyra

Rachey1969 · 30/09/2005 17:53

I think we all get pregnancy madness! When I was pregnant last time (very heavily so) I went to Tesco on a busy day and waited for ages, stewing quietly, for a mother n child space. Just as I was about to nab one, a bl**dy taxi cut me up and stole it. I was incandescent with rage, jumped out of my car (ok waddled) and banged on his window ranting obscenities . After about 5 mins of listening silently, he motioned to his back seat... where a little newborn lay in his carrytot... my, was I ! In fact, so much so that I waited in my car for another 10 minutes to give him a head start round the store! And do you know the really funny thing? Apart from the one in my tum, I didn't actually have a child with me...!

GeorgieM · 01/10/2005 14:49

Am loving everyone's pg stories!!!

Am suffering with pg amnesia. DH thinks it hilarious that I use hand gestures and 'thing-a-me-bob' words when I can't remember the proper word to use.

Just got back from Mamas and Papas store in Staines (big up the Staines massive!!!!) and have put deposit down on pram and car seat. We've plumped for the Ultima pram/pushchair combo and car seat as I like the idea of a 'old fashioned' looking pram with big wheels and a deent springy chassis. Feel a little superstious about it, but hey....

DH walking round with dreamy expression on his face cooing over tiny baby clothes and toys and cots and changing tables etc etc. Just makes me love him even more because he's so excited by everything. He's going to make such a fantactic Dad.

Am also getting really bad restless leg thing in the evenings. It twitches really badly and then get muscle spasm and it kicks out. Weird huh?! An sciatic nerve in my right buttock keeps getting trapped when I bend down. Bloody painful.

SweetK - tell us how the 4D scan went.

Lyra - Love Soup slightly disappointing for me too. Hope DH's birthday good.

OK better get on with some housework......

GeorgieM · 01/10/2005 15:07

OK, anyone got the faintest idea how I post wedding pics on this site? Know it's in member profiles.... but can't work out how! Help.....

lyra41 · 01/10/2005 16:22

Sorry Georgie, no idea, hopefully someone else can help.

Just had a bit of a shock! Went to get some new bra's from m and s and was measured at a 40F!! Also got told off for wearing underwired as it might "restrict growth." I said, well wouldn't that be quite a good idea, in the light of the size they are now?

I also spent some bday money on a couple of cute little cardigans (for me!! not the babe). They are the kind that tie between the boobs and are quite short with 3/4 length sleeves. Very useful and show off the bump to good effect I think.

Also went to my first pg yoga class, and that was lovely. Very peaceful and restful. And good to learn how to breathe through contractions. They do a class for couples too, I liked the sound of the part where they teach the partner how to massage the woman in labour.

Dh seems to be having a good bday I think. He had bfast in bed, a lie in, restful time with the paper, and now he's gone to watch the second half of the Utd game in the pub.

As for me, I need to put a wash on, put the clean wshing away, have a little rest then take dd over to my mum's for a sleepova whilst we go out tonight. DS aged 13 is staying home alone for the first time, he's pretty sensible so I think all will be OK. Still feel a bit tentative about it though, although at 14 he'll be old enough to babysit for others for money, so surely it will be ok.

GeorginaP · 01/10/2005 16:30

40F! Cripes alive girl. That's a fair pair of knockers you're carrying around!

DS is staying home alone for the first time. Lock the liquor cabinet and hide the porn!!!! Only joshing. Am sure he's a sensible lad. Do remember I was 15 when I decided to have little impromptu party whilst mum and dad out for supper (one of rare occassions they went out). Got rumbled when they saw mates hiding in bushes at end of road with bottle of Woodpecker cider.....and when they came back to find someone being sick in cloakroom, size 10 HiTec baseball boot prints over carpet and me shouting down the stairs that if anyone else wanted to have a snog they could use the spare room...... whoops!

Got grounded for a month. Dad had to be restrained by Mum from throttling me!!!

Happy days!

lyra41 · 01/10/2005 16:50

Hey Georgie

Like the new nickname girl!

GeorginaP · 01/10/2005 17:00

Why thank you. Thought it made me sound grown up...

DH just come in, read over my shoulder and left rooming shaking his head and mumbling about women being able to gossip on-line, end of world as we know it, blah blah blah!!!

sweetkitty · 01/10/2005 18:26

We are having..........A GIRL

Poor DP house full of women think it will be lovely for DD having a sister so close in age (18 months eek!)

The 4D scan was fantastic totally worth the money, sonographer said babe was great showing off for the camera, she was snuggled up against her placenta! Even we could see the girlie bits so no doubts. She also said everything looked fine and babe was growing well, placenta up and out the way too. Now we just have to think of a name for this baby, feel kind of sad as DD has already got our fav girls name. We think new babe also has her Dads nose (like DD) too.

lyra41 · 02/10/2005 09:15

Sweetkitty

Have fun watching your dvd, I'm envious! I wonder what your dd will make of it, if anything at her tender age?

GeorginaP · 02/10/2005 12:10

Have FINALLY managed to get a couple of pics uploaded from my wedding. They aren't very good as haven't really got to grips with re-sizing them. But at least it'll give you an idea of what DH, DD and I look like!

Have got loads more if you want to email me I can send thru.

They are on member profiles under GeorginaP.

Be kind!

Eshay · 02/10/2005 16:02

Hi all,

Once again it's been ages since I last wrote. I just spent what seems like hours skimming through all of your messages. I can't believe that I am still this tired this far along in the pregnancy. Still, I have not other pg problems so I shouldn't complain.

Lyra, it was me who asked about the Bloomers but I decided against ordering any. They are quite expensive and seemed a bit too bulky.

Horseshoe, I was sorry to read about your little one and, as others have said, very impressed with how positive you are.

I had a vivid dream the other night too and woke up crying. Somehow my husband had secretly married one of my colleagues as well! I was happy I woke up to go to the loo and assumed that would be the end of the silly dream but afterwards the dream continued. This time he hadn't married my colleague but our ex-flatmate! I was so upset when I woke up as it had been going on for hours and I was exhausted. According to some website dreams about your partner comitting adultery mean you're insecure in your relationship but I just blame it on being pg.

Re cramps: I get them too sometimes but luckily not bad enough to scream. Just enough to jump up and pull the duvet off dh I just read the other day that you can prevent or minimise cramps by taking in more calcium and by doing more exercises with your legs, like turning your feet in circles when you are seated and just before going to sleep. Also, don't sit with your legs crossed (I do that all the time...)

I read several people's posts about womb baths. With DS I never had a proper one as I thought they were ridiculously expensive. What I did instead was buy a plastic bucket from a £1 shop and used that for months. Thomas loved it and never had any idea it wasn't a proper one.

I had my 20 week scan a few weeks ago and we're having a boy. So we'll have 2 boys (18 months difference). Exactly what we wanted. I try and tell Thomas he's going to have a baby brother but I think he is much too young to understand. I have bought a baby doll so I can sit with that in my lap so he can get used to the idea a bit that way. The other day he was offering the doll bites of his pear. How cute!

That's it for now. I'm going to look for Georgie's wedding pics now.

sweetkitty · 02/10/2005 16:31

congrats on your boy eshay snap (well opposite way round) 2 same sex siblings 18 months apart, they'll be such great friends (and enemies too sometimes)

Georgie - you wedding pics are lovely you really don't look pregnant!

horseshoe · 03/10/2005 15:24

Hey all....

Well well well.....what can I say.

Had my meeting today and ABS was confirmed.....they also said baby was on the small side but they were not too worried as no obvious causes...then they discovered that my cervix wall is half what it should be and have told me theres a strong chance I could go into labour any day....so have been signed off sick.
Does anyone know the maternity thingy re sick leave these days????

On top of that my nephew swung open the door to my brand new £13,000 galaxy into on coming traffic and wrote it off....Stupidly I had TPFT cover only and have lost all my maternity savings.

Nan is no better since last week and morphine keeps her out of it.

BUT AFTER ALL I'M STILL SMILING!!

Apart from when i got to hospital todaty and realised how stressed I was and burst into tears before anyone even said hi to me....

I'm glad your scan was good and worth the money sweetkitty. I really want one but dont know if it's worth booking now as I could pop any day.

Im gonna check out your wedding pics now GeorginaP...glad all went well for the big day :-)

GeorginaP · 03/10/2005 18:53

Hey there Horseshoe. Jeez, it neve rains but it pours huh..... sounds as if you could do with large glass of vino or maybe a bottle of Stolly and pack of Marlboro Lights?! As I can't give you that, am sending HUGE hugs by way of some small comfort. From one dodgy cervix to another!

Did they give you any idea of whether they can do anything with your cervix? A stitch? Just keep off your feet and try to lie down as much as possible, no heavy lifting, no sex. NO NOTHING. Wrap yorself in cotton wool my love.

I know docs over here don't hold with bed rest being any good, but it worked for me and DD. And Sohpia Loren I might add! She had dodgy cerix and took to her bed with both her pg's.

How many weeks are you know? Anything past 24 and you're into the home straight.

OK, enough with the lecture. Higs, kisses and mountain of good luck dust coming your way. Hang in there girl.

G xx

Oh - and even though I've changed my log in name, I'm still Georgie. My parents called me Georgina when I was naughty.....still brings me out in goosebumps when I hear/read the name!
