OkieCokie · 27/04/2010 16:27

Oh Mas I have visions of you been on a lovely little island in the Maldives.

maswera · 27/04/2010 17:11

Okie - am in Malawi - not quite the Maldives but it has its moments... Rots - healthcare here is generally pretty awful (less so for the privileged ). Went to a private doc, but referred to the general hospital for the scan as that's where the equipment is. Tis v shabby and painfully understaffed, but on the few occasions I have used it, it's been surprisingly good. But being in the capital it's a million miles away from what's available elsewhere...

Anyway, thanks for the positive vibes - and an extra big facelick to VAG for having had the same thing

skihorse · 27/04/2010 17:23

mas Congratulations! And clever VAG with her reassuring news! I have to agree with rots thought, you need wee more than ever, but you should've changed it to shortwee or 3timesanightwee or neededaweebutwhenithappenedbarelysqueezedoutadrop. I thought your husband was a doc for some reason, surely he can dildocam you up?

curly Congrats on the new tooth fer free!

reggie Kerrrist - godparents? I haz not thought of that. You're sorted with yer gay, rich ones! ... although I note you say you want Minimono to be "safely left"...

PollyPoo · 27/04/2010 18:52

Mas well done on the scan, all sounds good.

Ski we're not going for private scan, I will just have to slum it with the great unwashed at the local hospital in Taunton.

I haz had meltdown today - got out all my old maternity clothes to see if I had a bra that would fit (no) and was horrified at the size of them all... Plus I decided I don't like any of the old clothes except my topshop jeans and will have to buy lots more. Except TG has already been going on about how second time round will be cheaper.

skihorse · 27/04/2010 19:00

Cheap? pah! Someone here asked last week how much we'd spent on maternity clothes - I said 250 euros. How fucking deluded was I? It's at least 500 and I still have nothing to wear!

polly Can't TG borrow some kit from work?

CUNextTuesday · 27/04/2010 19:23

New maternity clothes?? (see previous post ref ride-on lawnmower)

CurlyCasper · 27/04/2010 19:43

definitely running out of clothes suitable for work, but refusing to buy any more. Casuals yes - smarts, no way!

3/4 length jeans from ebay should be with me in time for weekend - so I won't have to be naked in Scotland

Perhaps we could have a PESH swishing party/FB page. New mums could swap maternity wear for normal stuff...

OP posts:
CUNextTuesday · 27/04/2010 19:54

I have got 7 items of work maternity wear - 1 pair of trousers (well, two but the hem has come down on one of them, rendering them useless to me ), 2 spaghetti strap tops, 2 long-sleeved t-shirts and 2 blouses.

Every day at work is a variation of these items (and the green top I don't even wear cos it's yuk). And I have 1 pair of jeans.

CurlyCasper · 27/04/2010 20:01

i have been living in a couple of non preggo dresses I picked up for cheaps in December. (cheap so don't mind stretching them). They are getting very baubly and I can't wait to bin them ASAP.

cunty you must get to ditch the work stuff soon, no? Also, just get more and more casual where you can get away with it - no one is going to fuck with the hormonal preggo, never mind demanding you buy new clothes. If we have a VIP in I dress smart. But some days I show up in my fat lady combats and a t-shirt and it has yet to be questioned

Next step, barely decent summer dresses as I struggle to cope with the heat! Thankfully the ones I had already are mainly empire line, so they should do until belly is big enough for the front to be lifted so high my fanjo is exposed

OP posts:
CUNextTuesday · 27/04/2010 20:34

Got another month yet but maybe combats is the future.... I'm bored of looking like a fat tramp

PollyPoo · 27/04/2010 20:48

Cunty I find staples and/or sellotape is v good for repairing hems. Honest. Sellotape does tend to rustle a bit though, giving game away, but sellotape followed by staples is good.

Ski TG has already borrowed lots of stuff from work, but sadly not of the medical variety - tends to be PCs, laptops, hard drives etc. No dildocams in the PCT, well not in the IT dept anyway...

PollyPoo · 27/04/2010 21:42

Are you all asleep?

CurlyCasper · 27/04/2010 21:48

not quite yet. a few more mins of trash telly before bed

PollyPoo · 27/04/2010 21:52

Hello Casp! I think I am off to watch Castle. It is so bad it's good, iykwim. Sweet dreams!

Ponymum · 27/04/2010 21:56

I'm here. Just finished a load of batch cooking. (Get me! Nesting!) I feel sure eight frozen portions of spaghetti and meatballs will come in very handy when weeping with tiredness and trying to breatfeed a newborn 24 hours a day.

PollyPoo · 27/04/2010 22:01

Pony I tried to do all that when duffed with Boo, but TG kept eating it before she arrived. FFS. Mmmm meatballs...

Ponymum · 27/04/2010 22:13

poo Yes, MrP has been tasked with taking them out to the freezer in the garage before he goes to bed. That way I am hoping he'll be too lazy to raid the stash forget they are there until such time as I declare it OK to eat them.

Ponymum · 27/04/2010 22:30

PMSL at this link that MrP just sent me. I think the PESHes will aprreciate it (especially cossie).

CUNextTuesday · 28/04/2010 08:10

Liking that link

CurlyCasper · 28/04/2010 08:21

Brilliant link!

(but annoyed that I was distracted by the poor use of the English language. Once a pedant...)

Full day in work today. No surveyor (Monday). No dentist (Tuesday). No AN appointment (tomorrow) and no shooting off early to drive oop North (Friday). How on Earth will I survive until 5pm?

OP posts:
skihorse · 28/04/2010 08:49

It's occurred to me and clearly Polly has picked up on this too - there's not nearly enough blue cheese & pate around here.

Ponymum · 28/04/2010 08:50

caspy I'll be kind and say I think it's a case of English as a second language.

The answer to how to survive today is of course to temporarily change your MN username and then spend the day writing outrageous, inflamatory comments on AIBU threads! Oh, and also creating an elaborate spreadsheet of all the baby things you need to buy / organise.

Cosmosis · 28/04/2010 08:54

Last night I had a big bawling session because my baybee is going to grown up and get a job and leave me. Waaaaaaah.

CurlyCasper · 28/04/2010 09:02

I like your thinking pony! But I should probably do a bit of analysis and some non MN writing first...

Jeez cos that's thinking way too far ahead! Now please stop. And breathe. And eat some of that lovely pate ski brought in.

ski Surely you want to look like you have your paws out for maternity? . I have been known to accentuate my bump when I know it's going to be a tough day at work

I fear my food parcels will suffer the same fate as poo's. Husband seems to be hungry all the time and will snaffle anything. I think I also need a bigger freezer, and some inspiration. Haven't got beyond bolognaise/meatballs/mac&cheese when it comes to frozen food ideas.

Mind you, SFF does most of the cooking anyway, so I can't see why that would change. I worked from home after the dentist yesterday and he cooked me a big meal, served at 5pm, before he started work at 6. Meant I only had to find a snack later in the evening. I loves him I do.

iggypiggy · 28/04/2010 09:29

re: clothes - I am now limited to only wearing dresses or leggings and long tops .

the trousers and jeans are too uncomforable to wear as they have a non stretchy band of material that seems to dig into the bump when I sit down... didn't fink you were meant to outgrow the maternity wear...

However - I have been told by various people that they like the pregnancy look for me - and that I should continue to wear the leggings/ top combo after baybee cos it suits me... which is pleasing..

re: food - I haz bloke for that.

in other news... my belly button is half in - half out = rank...
