littlelapin, so sorry for your trouble. Thank you for having the courage to talk about it with us, I wish you all the luck in the world

RaceyLacey · 12/04/2010 21:06

LL - sorry to hear it is bad news, wishing you the best of luck for ttc in the future.

WLL - I'm feeling similar to you are. I'm alot more scared and nervous this time round than before. With past pregnancies I've only done a test at about 5.5 weeks, so would only normally be finding out about now, but I've known for over 2 weeks this time. I don't think I was worried last 2 times about mc or ectopic but this time I really am. But equally I'm enjoying it a lot more already this time as I have a dp who loves me and wanting to take care of me plus we want this baby equally. All things I've never experienced before.

womanlytales · 12/04/2010 21:14

Am terribly sorry littlelapin -- I wish you the very best in the next cycle.

LittleSnoo · 12/04/2010 23:24

Definitely feeling fragile - keep rushing to the loo to check for spotting, and because my bladder appears to have shrunk. Being away from home doesn't help. Yesterday I had no real symptoms and was panicking that something had gone wrong. I have endometriosis so am especially worried about an ectopic pregnancy. Today I'm back to queasy, sore breasts etc. Also I've had a nasty taste in the back of my mouth all day and from this afternoon have been drooling like a blood hound.

crazykat · 13/04/2010 08:38

Morning ladies, how is everyone today?

TheBronzeHorseman · 13/04/2010 08:51

littlelapin, so very sorry

wholelottalove, I'm with you on the fragile thing. I feel all sort of shaky inside, like I usually do the day before I get AF. However, I am also trying to make the most of feeling mostly well at this stage, before the nausea kicks in.

heading4home, do you live in Switzerland permanently? And if you don't mind me asking, what was wrong with the Portugal birth experience? I am curious as I am in Russia, which is where I had DS. I had fantastic ante-natal care but the birth itself was a bit of a nightmare and also not something I would really recommend.

Littlesnoo, congratulations, hope you have a safe journey back tomorrow. I also have the drooling thing, nice, isn't it . I'm also really sweaty all the time. So glamorous, this pregnancy business, eh.

TheChangeSpiral · 13/04/2010 13:49

Hello everyone

This is a very tentative joining. I had my BFP a week ago today but yesterday had some bleeding - eeek! I went to the doctor this morning and he told me I've had a threatened miscarriage. I'm trying to stay positive though as there has been no bleeding since and feel sicker than ever today - how strange to appreciate nausea so much. Just going to rest and wait ...

moomaa · 13/04/2010 14:18

Hello everyone

I have been having a bit of feeling sick, mainly in the night, I think when blood sugar is low. Am also over eating which I need to knock on the head.

Not sure if feeling sick is because we have sold our house and offered on another this week, so all quite exciting here.

littlesnoo - yes I have carmps and twinges too, but I had them with DD and DS so know it is normal, I can imagine the baby burrowing into me or something!

ebrookm · 13/04/2010 19:24

It is nice to hear the other antenatal information and differences. Thank you for posting!

I am truly exhausted these days, but not much nausea except in the middle of the night - which is a bit bizarre?

Yesterday I had a strange cramp in my left ovary and today in my right. Very odd!

I hope you're all feeling o.k. today - I am really expecting to feel ms full on and not looking forward to it ... am also feeling a bit on edge and a lack of patience. I hope that passes!

Have a great evening, Mama's.

likethemapples · 13/04/2010 19:35

hello everyone, hope you are all well?

At my appointment with my GP I got a congratulations, a printout of nutritional advice, weighed and BP taken, and then asked which hospital I wanted (choice of 3). I wasn't prepared for that (or for the weigh-in, but I guess I'll have to get used to that!). I don't really feel qualified to make the decision at this stage, but I phoned back and left a message when I had combed the web for advice.

MS has definitely set in now, but only nausea. I'm torn between feeling pleased that something is happening and wondering how I'm going to hide it in the office for 6 weeks! I think I will have to actually take a lunch break so I can wonder about outside breathing deeply!

Wholelottalove · 13/04/2010 20:12

Hi all and welcome to TheChangeSpiral hope it all settles down for you.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is feeling slightly fragile, I guess it is par for the course at this stage.

I'm feeling ok, tired but manageable although had a real mid-afternoon slump today. Slight quesiness but no real m/s yet - still quite early on though.

likethemapples sorry your ms is kicking in. I'm wondering how to keep it quiet at work too - tbh last time a lot of the women in the office had guessed because I was in the loo so much and looked like death!

trytobebrave · 13/04/2010 20:15

Hi Everyone, I had to get up 3 times to wee in the night, boo! I remember from last time that this started about now and went on until I gave birth. So annoying!

I've been feeling really down about the hospital that I have to go to. It's really poorly rated, and I'm quite scared to go there now. What sucks is that the government likes to give all the info and tell me it's so that I have a 'choice' when really it's just rubbing my nose in the fact that I have to give birth in unpleasant and possibly dangerous conditions whereas the woman who lives 5 minutes down the road gets to go to a clean and safe hospital which I am barred from. How is that a choice? Aaargh, rant over for now I guess.

Hope you are all feeling ok this evening.

Wholelottalove · 13/04/2010 20:25

trytobebrave I know what you mean. The hosptial I gave birth in was ok but a huge, busy and impersonal unit where I was treated a bit rudely in early labour (although in delivery they were lovely) and didn't get much help with breastfeeding etc. A friend gave birth in a lovely midwife-led unit which I would love, but not in the catchment - although I'm going to ask.

My only other option is home birth - have you thought about it? I'm considering it this time.

trytobebrave · 13/04/2010 20:50

Wholelottalove, I'm thinking about a home birth too. I wonder how it would work with a toddler there though? We don't have any family nearby so I think he'd have to be in the house when I gave birth and I wonder how practical that would be! Do you have any ideas about what you would do with your little one? Also, ds had trouble breathing and had to be in NICU for a week after he was born and I'm scared that that might happen again in which case I'd rather be in hospital with help at hand. It's so difficult and scary isn't it?

Wholelottalove · 13/04/2010 21:00

Trytobebrave - well, I know someone from a BF group who had home birth with second and daughter was there in the room for the birth - although a bit older, about 4.

I guess I assumed we'd ask my sister/Mum to have DD at their house as we'd have to do that anyway if we went up to the hospital. I was pretty, ahem, vocal with DD so wouldn't want her to witness me swearing and shouting.

I can imagine it must be scary if your DS had trouble breathing. I'm going to do some research into safety etc when I'm a bit further along - you could always look into it or start planning one then see how you feel. It's such early days yet. There must be plenty of experienced ladies on MN who have had HB and can advise as well.

It's a nice thought to be tucked up in my own bed with tea and toast and a newborn next to me and DH by my side, rather than in hospital.

LittleSnoo · 13/04/2010 22:07

Thanks all for reassuring me. I've had the stomach pains for more than a week now without any bleeding and with your experiences I'm accepting that they're normal. This drooling thing is the worst - I managed to sneak away for an afternoon nap and actually woke up because there was so much drool sloshing about I nearly choked . It was gross!

Firsttimer2010 · 13/04/2010 22:18

Now had preegnancy confirmed by GP and got to ring to book mid wife appt tomorrow. Uneasy time yesterday had 2 small bleeds (no pain) GP sent me straight to early pregnancy unit - said looked like a normal 5 week stable pregnancy and advised seemed to be implantation bleeding. This has put my mind at ease a little, back in 2 weeks to check progress.

Been advised to rest for a week to let things settle down. Been really bored though as I don't feel ill So glad I told my line manager about pregnancy last week now, she has been really supportive.

Really sore boobs today and seem to be growing by the day - must invest in a new bra. Also had a really sharp sense of smell for the past week.

OnlyWantsOne · 14/04/2010 10:40

HI all just checking in, DP and DD home all week on holiday (and doing my head in).

Im getting fat Ive put on 1/2 a stone since finding out was pg, not good... lol

Im some where about 6+5 I think...

I have had some slight cramping and odd twinges, do you think its worth calling my GP?

OP posts:
heading4home · 14/04/2010 10:42

Hi all! So sad to hear LittleLapin's news.

I was feeling really bleugh all day yesterday. How bad I feel seems to be directly related to how well I slept the night before. Went to bed at 9 yesterday and my daughter came and curled up with me and we both had a wonderful night's sleep so I feel decent today.

TheBronzeHorseman hi! yes we are in Switzerland for the foreseeable future (I don't like to say "permanently"!!) My previous birth was in Faro hospital where it is very 1950s in a lot of ways. I was induced with absolutely no pain relief and the birth itself was on my back, feet in stirrups. Most of the midwives were really nasty to me and one got really angry with me when my waters broke and made a mess Then they gave me approximately a million stitches with no anaesthetic. I knew what to expect, because I had spoken to other women about it, but it was not exactly what I would have planned. When I explained to my ob the concept of a birth plan he actually laughed out loud and told me husband that in Faro hospital they treat the women like cattle. After the birth, my husband was sent straight home and I wasn't given anything to eat or drink.

Sorry, rant over! I still shake when I remember it. HOWEVER, everyone tells me that in Switzerland it is fabulous, they treat you well and you can have an active birth or water birth if you want. No chance of a homebirth though.

What are things like in Russia?

notso · 14/04/2010 21:50

Hello OWO can I join you?
JSing worked a treat, had BFP this weekend, I am cautiously excited.

OnlyWantsOne · 15/04/2010 11:03

Notso YAY hello!!!! JSing is cool

Wow, well come... Im now 7 weeks (and feeling pukey) how are you? When was your last AF?

OP posts:
notso · 15/04/2010 12:14

First day of last AF was 17 March so I'm only just 4 weeks but already being/feeling sick I'm knackered, off chocolate and my boobs are agony, far worse than with dd and they didn't hurt at all with ds.

Am seeing M/W on 27th.

I feel really nervous about telling people in rl though but think I'm going to have to tell work due to some of the stuff I have to do and the fact I keep rushing off to the loo to be sick!

When are you going to tell people

ebrookm · 15/04/2010 12:21

Welcome Notso! Very exciting.

I have felt ill all week and today woke up feeling well rested and pretty good. I'm surprised. Knowing that will pass... but keeping fingers crossed it won't.

I have a question for all in the UK: Is it my responsibility to make an appointment to see a midwife or will my GP do that?

Thanks all for your answers, DH and I are off to France today to tell his parents... !

Have a great rest of your week.

PJen · 15/04/2010 13:46

Hi girls (any boyz?),
I have been travelling a lot for work and have been flying practically every day this week and therefore feeling so crap! I have nausea all day but don't throw up! It is a constant annoying nausea. For me week 5 was tender breasts and wk 6 was nausea. Not really looking forward to wk 7 and what will be next... we wanted to get pregnant but now I am wondering what I have got myself into... ha ha... I have noticed that if I eat something the nausea goes temporarily away so as result I am constantly eating and putting on weight with rapid rates!! I have to travel again next week and hate the idea of getting into a flight. Maybe the ash around UK will stay and my flight plans get cancelled...

ebrookm, I am not originally from UK but live in London and it was painful to learn how everything works here. You need to go to your GP and then they will give you a list of 2-3 hospitals from which you can choose. Then they will send the referral letter and the hospital will get in contact with you directly.
