newmomma · 22/04/2010 09:25

brightredballoon I'm a complete dunce and don't know what a PM is? Is it a message..?

Re: Arnica questions - it is 200c strength you need - I took it after DS1 and healed well and quickly from bruising/grazes etc. I have a nearly new pack (lost last one, bought new, found old one) to anyone that wants it - just let me have your address and I'll post it happily. First come first served!!

pamelat - Sorry honey I must have missed your post about your baby being breech still. Had seen lots of people mention your scan but still not managed to see it?

I would have had the ECV personally but I guess all you can do is take the advice of the consultant re: it being safe with the cord in the way.

I'm off for a long walk today as it can help baby to engage - trying to 'seize the day' while she is the right way up.

Let us know if you do have the ECV how it goes? And good luck with it if you go ahead.

I'm off to look at sweetkitty's new fb pics!!

newmomma · 22/04/2010 09:29

...? sweetkitty Do I have to be your friend to see those photos or have you added them to the group? I'm such a technophobe!

hormonalmum · 22/04/2010 10:36

Morning all. Newmomma - sounds like we could form our own club being technophobes and all!

Madcattaz - welcome to mn and the thread. Be warned, it can be difficult to keep up.

Hollyoaks - I do not know if I mentioned this before, but I would definately leave your dd's potty training until it is warmer and she has got used to the new arrival. I made such a mess of dd's training, I vowed not to try and rush ds. Ds is just about ready but the timing is not, so I am going to wait a little longer.

I have a free day today as dd at school and ds with his lovely childminder. I was going to treat myself and go to the cinema but there is nothing on that I want to see at the times I can go. I think I will just treat myself to lunch out instead.

I have a list of jobs still to do and that includes washing the floor and putting up some new curtains so I best get on with that.
Still aching a lot and didnt sleep well so may schedule a nap in too!

Enjoy the sun

Hobnobfanatic · 22/04/2010 10:44

ML I'm very that you are already too big for your pre-pregnancy jeans! I don't think I'll get in mine again for years!

Welcome, Madcat - glad you found us.

Heffa, glad the consultant has helped you make a decision. I'm terrible when faced with important choices - I'd have found it hard to decide too!

Well, I've woken up this morning and my bump is definitely different. I think it's smaller. It's certainly a different shape. Baby had already engaged before, so it can't be that she's shifted down, can it? Someone in the village shop commented on how low the bump is today, so I don't think it's my imagination... Any ideas?

sweetkitty · 22/04/2010 11:13

newmomma - yes I think I have my settings on the highest privacy so you have to add me as a friend to see them, my initials are SLR.

Do you think I could just take 6 or 7 of the 30c arnicas? I am sure last time I almost bought a special labour and afterwards homeopathy kit that had loads of different treatments for stress, weepiness, bruising, breastfeeding etc.

I am really feeling the need to have something really bad and fatty for lunch. Anyone else feeling hungry all the time but the thing is the minute I eat I feel full up, think I must snack more

rachelfruitloop · 22/04/2010 12:20

Hello Ladies!

First off, welcome Madcatsazz!

Warning: this is a VERY long post, pages and pages I have just looked through!

Glad to hear that many of you are reuntied with family members that were stranded far away!

I've seen off DH and DS to Legoland this morning, and I just had my 36 week appointment at the surgery down the road. It went well, my iron levels have gone up a bit! Now the day is MINE! Am going to try to finish making curtains for DS's room and the nursery! I will NOT watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse today!

ML what a brilliant birth story! Thank you very much for telling it, gives me hope! Olivia is such a gorgeous newborn, I'm loving the pics! Glad your feeding is going well - I SO know what you mean about the engorgement, I had to hand express into a muslin on several occasions on the train after having DS because I was so full I was in agony! (It was after that I got a second manual breast pump for out and about!)

Littleowls it's brilliant that Joel is feeding well! I hope you're feeling good, too!

I have a mouse update for you all! After a few nights of being kept awake by the mouse scratching around in my closet and stealing bait of the traps but not setting them off, we put some poison trays down and haven't heard the mouse since. Last night, I was downstairs watching telly and I saw "downstairs" mouse roaming around. I watched it crawl into the trap and click, the hatch closed! Hooray! We caught it! DH just took the trap out with him to release the mouse far from home. So, I think we're making progress! Tomlin I contemplated not telling DH about the biscuits I found under my bedside table, but I was so relieved that there was a reason why the mouse was up there and not just that we had such a bad infestation that they were everywhere, so I had to fess up. Besides, I'm terrible at keeping secrets!

Booboo I am so hyper alert to mice now, definitely mouse police! I keep thinking I see them when they're not there! I'm frustrated because since last week I have done all the deep cleaning and tidying that I can, but I can't do the hoovering anymore, and DH hasn't bothered even though I keep saying it needs to be done! I threatened to do it myself today, so hopefully that will motivate him to do it. Yesterday I saw that mouse going along eating the tiniest crumbs off the floor! I need to borrow your DH Squirtsmum!

Racquelwelsh good to hear from you again! My hospital is a 30 min drive away so I'm a bit nervous as well. Especially as DH and I don't drive and will have several friends on call to do the driving, but there's all the coordinating, etc. Glad you're leave has started as well!

Thanks to all for participating in the bump measuring! It makes me very happy to hear that there are others of you in the same size range as me! I have put my 35 week photo from last week up on my MN profile and also on the FB page. My BF in RL is 20 weeks now with her second and doesn't really look pregnant at all, another with the very strong stomach muscles like MDM - I'm amazed that your waist is still smaller than your DH's!

Pamelat the mixup with your MW visit on Saturday would have really upset me, too! That sort of thing is so frustrating!

SK I can relate to not having family around to help, it really is a struggle sometimes, and I just have the one DS so far! I hope that the timing of the birth of this LO works out well for you. I know it's nerve-wracking hoping that "things work out", and I tend to worry even when things are out of my hands.

Carikube I hope your DH's suspected hernia is doing better, that would be very bad timing when you need the most physical help at the end of the pregnancy!

Angel I hope your embarrassing lump has calmed down again and isn't causing you too much pain! I hope you're resting now that the bathroom painting is nearly finished!

Pigley well done for staining the decking! I am amazed at the energy you had to do it!

Sazzles your photos on FB are very cute! I think Harvey is a great name. I love that Jimmy Stewart Film "Harvey", though! I have quite a crush on Jimmy Stewart, my DS is named James Stewart!

Hobnob I'd probably go forth and use the name that you'd decided on, even if your friend who lives a bit of a distance away has a baby with that name, but spelled differently. As far as choosing names goes, DH and I made up our minds quite a while before we had kids about what the names would be, so I'm glad it's settled. However, since I got first choice with DS1, DH got preference with DS2. We have been telling everyone the name since we found out it's a boy, and nobody has said anything negative, luckily. But we're the types that wouldn't care what other people thought anyway, it's been decided for so long! I think I mentioned before that DH chose the name after one of his favourite football players - but after my Jimmy Stewart tribute it's only fair!

MyFirst thanks! I am able to keep up with the replies only by having 2 MN windows open, typing on one, and scrolling back to the last time I replied on the other and going through! I like the name Oscar quite a lot, too! SK I also really like the name Elliot!

Pigley my DH is definitely not as interested in this LO as he was with my pregnancy with DS. Last night he happened to glance over as a huge foot drifted across my belly (complete with clicking sound) and he said "Whoa! That was a big kick!" and I said "Yeah, that's what I mean, all the movements are big like that now!" I guess it's pretty common for men to not be as interested in subsequent pregnancies, the novelty has worn off! I'm sure the DH's will be very excited once it all kicks off and they're born!

James your anxiety dreams about the birth, etc sound very familiar to me, I have the same exact worries. I like to know what's going to happen and when, that's part of the reason an ELCS was appealing to me at first, but I've definitely decided to go the more unpredictable VB route now. I just keep telling myself, by June it will all be over with and we can get on with our new life! Glad to hear that lots of others are feeling anxious, too! Nice to know we're not alone! Pigley your dream about being double-pregnant is very scary!!

Pamelat I hope your exam went well yesterday!

Alle I hope you're doing ok now, it must have been scary to be having the early contractions and then not feel the baby move after!

Alexw happy first day of your maternity leave!

MDM not long until your leave now, too! That's great you get to leave early tomorrow for your scan! LOL about your DH now thinking one of your name suggestions was his idea! Hope you're feeling better - I've found every time I've had a cold while pregnant it has taken me about 3 weeks to get over it! You'll have plenty of time to rest next week, definitely try to take advantage!!

Hollyoaks about the potty training, I would say if she wants to wear the pants and it doesn't wind you up too much when she has an accident then let her. See what happens, she might pleasantly surprise you! Just be sure to have LOADS of changes of clothes for her at the ready when others are watching her. My DS is having frequent accidents again in the last couple of evenings (he's been overtired and that's when it tends to happen now), we've been toilet training for about 6 months and I thought we had it cracked. ItsHappened I know exactly what you mean about the toilet incidents with DS from not tucking (or holding it out whilst standing)!

Schipo that's great that your homebirth has been approved!

Sazzles I have the Mothercare 4 position carrier and it's quite good. I only used it for a little while with my DS though, as he was so big and I hadn't built up my monstrous toddler-carrying muscles yet! I'll be using it again with this one, though! How annoying the MW lost your notes, good thing there haven't been any problems! Hope you're able to postpone your interview at work, it figures the timing would happen like that, eh?!

ML I hope your kids get to fly to Disney soon! It's good they're taking it so well!!

Newmomma so glad to hear that baby has turned!

Heffa LOL about your parents asking if your call was the big red button, as if you'd just slip it in to conversation! I'm so glad to hear that your doctor recommended a VB for you, it makes a difference to be given advice one way or the other. I think I'd still be on the fence about it if the consultant hadn't recommended a VB as well.

SK I love your Bumps and Babies photos on FB! So sweet!!! Yes, I am hungry all the time, and then get heartburn as soon as I lean over!

Over all I'm feeling pretty good, but I am having a sciatic nerve pinch now which makes walking (waddling) longer than 5 minutes very painful and I'm waking up with sore hips again. Also, been having abdominal pains, but don't think it's BH, I think it's from being a bit constipated from the iron tablets and then eating dried apricots so it's making me a bit gassy. Sorry for TMI! But wondering if anyone else is finding that you feel so full of baby down there that you can't quite find the right muscles to bear down on?!

I hope that you're all well and getting lots of rest!

memorylapse · 22/04/2010 12:34

post natal tiredness has kicked in...I feel like a drugged up zombie!

sat in the bath last night soaking my boobs with flannels and massaging the backlog down..Olivia fed for over an hour this morning and although there are still areas of hardness I think the back log might be clearing slowly...

myfirstbump · 22/04/2010 12:52

Fruity, it's so simple now you've said so!

I'm so glad the new arrivals are settling in well. ML, it's scary reassuring to know what's coming! Thanks for the warnings

We had our first antenatal class last night. Was a bit disappointing for me, as I have all you lovely ladies to learn from, so I already knew a lot of what they were saying. However, DH (who I knew wasn't listening to me...) found it really insightful and helpful, so I guess it's all relative really. Get a tour of the wards next week though which I'm looking forward to.

Have a MW apt tomorrow, so hopefully all is still well. It's technically my 34wk one, even though I'm almost 36 . I did mention that when they gave me this date, but the MW has apparently been away and had a massive backlog last week and couldn't fit me in until now. Hopefully it will still be ok to have all my blood tests - fingers crossed!

Wish I could join those of you enjoying the sun today as well!

cupcakefairy · 22/04/2010 13:28

Afternoon all. I am still in my PJs after spending the morning reading in bed then watching Sex & the City DVDs love this maternity leave lark! Now if only I didn't actually have to have a baby...

Thanks for the arnica tips; I had only seen the cream in Boots, makes sense now that you mention pills! Will get to a Holland & Barrett.

Rachel great news about the mice

Right, sorry to be a bit me me me but I am slightly freaked out. After the 'great scan' the other day I have looked at what they wrote in my notes..I was 36 weeks on Tues and all measurements are just a couple of days either side of that except for femur length which was at 34+5 (65.9mm) I have looked back at my 20 week scan when it measured 35mm. I stupidly googled and have really scared myself about Downs (we never had the blood tests etc so don't know my odds)
Can anyone reassure me here? What were your measurements at 20 weeks and anyone who's had later growth scans?

pamelat · 22/04/2010 14:02

rachel impressive post!!

newmomma have posted scan pics to facebook group so you should be able to seem them on there? will try to do it on mumsnet too.

I have back ache after a morning stroll around a country park with a friend and her little one. DH had accidently taken the pram to work but I figured DD would walk, oh was I wrong?! "Mummy up up up" was all I got. Its a short walk, 15 mins max but took us nearly 2 hours with a half hour park stop en route. My back is killing now.

Exam went well, I think, thank you

When do I get to do the relaxing bit?! Preferred maternity leave the first time round.

AnnaLouise1991 · 22/04/2010 14:09

hey, im new to this. im a first time mum to be due 22nd may . how is everyone and there bumps?? Is there anyone on here from Salisbury area, im currently living in Larkhill and dont really know anyone?? Anna and pink bump 35+5 xx

LuckyC · 22/04/2010 14:27

ML congrats on baby!!!! Forces how are you getting on?

I am exhausted and living from feed to feed at the mo. Matilda struggling a bit to pick up back to her birthweight. I have had bad luck ewith that bloody tooth which is severely infected again - back on teh Antibiotics and hopefully it will clear the infection enough for them to take it out at last.

So lots of highs and lows - find the unpredictability and the night feeds hard; a fair few tears from both baby and I. But she's gorgeous, and adorable, and I must go and feed her now. Will write birth story soon before forget for anyone interested.

I am sorry not to be able to even skimread the news and hope you are all well. Miss my time on the thread and miss being pregnanct actually!

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 22/04/2010 15:06

Welcome Madcatsazz and AnnaLouise

Lunchtime on last full day at work, hooray! I haven't posted since Tuesday and there's so much to respond to! This is going to be a long one, but probably not by Rachel's standards!

...

Cupcake - your post has really made me look forward to maternity leave starting!

Rachel - excellent news about the mice, sounds like you've pretty much seen the back of the little critters now!

James - loved your story about your faux pas at toddler group! Wading in a bit belatedly on the TENS discussion, but I am also planning to hire one, despite the mixed reviews. We got to try them (on our arm) in an NCT class and reactions varied from those who couldn't feel anything much to those who nearly jumped out of their skin with surprise when it was switched on, so I guess the reason for the mixed reviews is that some people are just less sensitive to them. I found it a really strong sensation, so think it's worth a try, even if just for the distraction factor. Must remember to order it actually!

ML sounds like flights are getting back to normal slowly, so fingers crossed that your DCs will get their trip to Disneyworld. Hope everything's going well with Olivia. Amazing news about your pre-preg jeans being too big already what a fab excuse to go shopping!

Newmomma - brilliant news that LO has now turned, hope she stays that way!

Pamelat - love the scan pics, and Cupcake, glad your growth scan was OK. It doesn't sound like the femur length was that far off in terms of weeks. I've got my growth scan tomorrow, so will let you know what the femur length is afterwards. I'm really looking forward to seeing the LO again. I hope they let us have a picture too. Until I saw yours Pamelat, it hadn't occurred to me that we might get a photo this time! Hope they don't inadvertently let slip what sex it is as I'm really excited about DH being the one to tell me after the birth.

Littleowls - great to hear the Joel has taken so well to the breast feeding, that must be such a relief. I hope he's putting on weight and you get to bring him home soon.

Squirts - sounds like you're very lucky with your DH. The frequency of your appointments sounds pretty normal to me. Where I am we have appointments at 26 weeks(GP), 30 weeks (midwife), 34 weeks (GP), 36 weeks (midwife), 38 weeks (GP) and 40 weeks (midwife) then 41 and 42 if needed.

Racquel - I have 3 hospitals all within 5 miles of my house, but with London traffic, they could easily be 30 minutes away! We did a trial run of the journey to our hospital on a saturday morning a few weeks ago and it took us 23 minutes. Evenings and nighttime should be quicker but rush-hour could be anything up to about 45 minutes probably. Our home-from-home birth centre (i.e. the MLU) and the hospital birth centre are actually all on the same floor in the same building, so it's easy to transfer from one to the other if needed.

Pigley - glad the gasmen have managed to avoid ruining your drive so far!

Sassles - what a pain about the promotion interview dates. I do think though, when wearing my devious and cynical hat, that it would be good to get the interviews done while you're pregnant - it must make it much harder for them to turn you down, as in the backs of their minds they will worry that they will be accused of discrimination!!

Hormonal - hope you enjoyed your free day of leisure!

Hobnob I can relate to the changing bump shape. I got home from work last night and DH said 'your bump is lower'. It seems to fit under my desk at work again today, after getting in the way for the last couple of weeks.

Rachel - am feeling loads better today thanks! Blocked nose has nearly cleared and I no longer feel like I'm walking round with my head in a big bubble stuffed with cotton wool!

Good to hear from you Lucky C, and looking forward to hearing the birth story. Matilda is a gorgeous name, by the way and one of our back-ups if ours is a girl and we change our mind at the last minute!

Better get back to work, hadn't realised how long I had been on here. Oops.

rachelfruitloop · 22/04/2010 15:39

Cupcake try not to worry. (I know it's easier said than done!) I did the same thing after my growth scan 2 weeks ago, femur length behind by a couple of weeks. I really scared myself Googling esp. as I am in the high risk category for Down's this time, but then I had a look at the measurements from my scans with DS and he had a short femur length too, and is perfectly healthy. He ended up being quite long at birth as well (59 cms) so who knows why the femur measurement was so short. Chances are very good that your baby is fine, in fact from what I read, your measurements would have to be drastically behind (more than a few weeks) for it to alarm the professionals, so if no one mentioned anything to you it's probably nothing to worry about. We really must stay away from Google!

LolaAnn · 22/04/2010 15:54

Eeep I haven't been on for ages! Been so busy decorating/painting/building furniture for our flat haha!! Is there a list of all the new arrivals and weights etc - we totally need one for lazy people like me..

Anyway congrats everyone on the new babies, so exciting, I'm 36w exactly today and get my home birth kit next wednesday! Baby still not engaged but getting mad pains in my cervix today!!

LolaAnn · 22/04/2010 16:16

Just requested to be added to the FB group - Laura Lola K

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 22/04/2010 19:41

Annalouise - welcome to the group

Rachel - congratulations on getting rid of the mice! You must feel very relieved.

Pamelat - glad your exam went well, hope your backache clears up

Hobnob - yeah, I've been constantly changing my mind with the decision so could have kissed the (actually quite yummy) consultant when he helped.

SK - My uterus went back down very quickly last time as well which I put down to the raspberry leaf. I must get hold of some more I think.

Sassles · 22/04/2010 19:49

Rachel Thanks for your comments on my lovely bump. Glad the mothercare carrier is ok. I can't imagine them being so different in design etc.

Midwife has found my notes. Yay. She has booked appointment with consultant for me on 7th May, due 8th. Also am changing GP's ti the village one (which I need to do anyway) and that means I can get appointment for next Friday, so not too long between seeing them from last appoint.

Work update not great. Had pretty horrid day all round and it was my second last day. Basically interview wise they have said that I have to interview in the interview window period or it is unfair to the other candidates. They are interviewing week of the 10th may. Me due 8th. He will try and bring my interview forward to the 6th, but HR may not let me interview so close to due date as they would be concerned stress of the interview (it is four hours of intensive interview and case studies) would affect my baby. However, I can not imagine that I will be in any fit state to interview for at least a few weeks after the birth even if it all goes swimmingly well. If I miss the interview period as I am giving birth/just given birth, Tough. I miss my opportunity that I have been waiting on for 2 yrs.

I'm trying really hard to not be all whiney and moany about how unfair it all seems though and will try and cross my legs till the 6th.

I could just interview no matter what state I am in, but if I do really badly as a result it could have a negative affect on me going for things in the future.

Those of you with children. What seriously is a timescale you could effectively go through an interview after giving birth. Am I seriously kidding myself here?

I'm going to raise it further as seems really unfair. If I was ill, surely they would give me another interview date, they wouldn't just say, tough, you missed it, so why not if I am giving birth? I know they can't postpone it for ages, but they could at least give me a reasonable three weeks?

Bad day topped off by everyone being given a bottle of champagne for working on a deal, including 2 girls who did not do very much, except me. I got nothing, nada zip, despite actually structuring the whole thing and making it work two days BEFORE the deadline I was given. I am raging!! Even if they turn round tomorrow and say, or sorry we forgot you here we go. They still forgot about me. I feel totally unappreciated. This came from the head boss and I know the two people above me think I am indespensible, but they are clearly not communicating that up the line and must be taking credit for stuff I have done for the boss to have no idea of my involvment.

Sorry for ranting on and on, just couldn't stop once I started. Was trying really hard not to cry at work too and pleased to say I managed it.

I'm hoping the place will fall apart from tomorrow when I leave!!

madcatsazz · 22/04/2010 20:13

Hi everyone, thank you to all for welcome messages, I think it's going to be hard to keep up!! Just been reading through some of the posts ad it's funny to see how many people are thinking along the same lines as me with pg. I've noticed a few breech stories - this LO was breech up until 36 weeks and then turned. However, went to midwife on Tuesday (38wks) who sent me to hospital next day for scan as thought babe had turned back again - pleased to confirm that baby is still head down which is a blessing - although after so long considering breech options, I'm now free to worry about labour again

Reading about others getting TENS machines ready made me think about getting mine out. I bought it in Jan in the sales, threw it on a shelf and thought nothing more about it. Opened the pack today to find all the bells and whistles (pads, boost button etc) but no TENS machine!! I looked in usual places for receipt, couldn't find one so went back to the chemist without one for a refund. Was politely declined and told to ring head office. I was gearing up for a big fight on the phone and whilst on hold I thought - must have a little check in wallet to make sure no receipt - even though I think I empty wallet regularly - only to find a faded and massively creased receipt for the TENS! Yey for me. Went back to chemist, received full refund and promptly bought a new one. Didn't try it last time so am hoping it will be useful this time round. Anything is better than my last delivery!

cupcake - the maternity leave is totally the best bit - i managed to wangle stacks of unused annual leave before mat leave starts on due date and am loving it. I tend to sleep far better in the day when DP and DD are out of the house so I'm using it to catch up on zzzz's before babe comes along.

sassles - sorry to hear work have been so rubbish - with my first pg, i was working full time and work were awful, making me feel guilty about not being able to do some of the things that others had to do, leaving me out of staff meeting because i woudn't be there anyway etc. I was genuinely worried about going back. However, after nearly a year off with DD1, my whole perspective changed and I actually moved to part time and changed jobs within the organisation and have never looked back. It's shit that they are treating you badly but keep in mind that your life is changin and when it comes to the future you just don't know how you'll feel.

Sorry for long post!

Evening all, again thanks for more advice on the potty training. Very of those on maternity leave already, still got three weeks left and its killing me. I have to have a bath as soon as I get in or my back is in agony all night.

Sassles - how annoying that your work is making you feel like that. Sorry, I don't have any useful advice, are you in a union who could help you? In terms of how you will feel after the birth, I'm sure some people are fine but it took me at least two weeks to get over the birth and get some colour back in my cheeks.

Madcat - lucky you found the receipt. I've never even contemplated using a tens machine, though they're only really useful in early labour aren't they?

AnnaLouise - welcome and congratulations.

Luckyc - nice to hear from you even though you seem so tired. I remember the mix of emotions that come after the baby which have you laughing and then crying, but its such a special time. Hope you get your tooth sorted soon.

Rachel - good news on the mice.

Cupcake - don't google!!!!!

Sorry if I've missed anything important. Hope we all sleep well.

Hi All and welcome to the new posters - never too late to join, but we are a chatty lot!

Sassles - I think that is totally unfair. Unfortunately, from what I remember, you aren't allowed legally to compare you being pg with eg a man being sick, because it's an unfair comparison (ie only women can get pg, whereas anyone can get sick). However, I think if you have expressed an interest in a position, and they know about it far enough in advance, they have a duty to make reasonable adjustments for you - why can't they move the interview period for everyone to make it fair for you? And not giving you champagne is really awful, bordering on discrimination. If they didn't give you alcohol because of your pg, then they should at least have given you a reward of similar value/worth.

Hopefully they will realise how much you mean to them when you are not there, but it shouldn't take you having to leave to make them realise that.

Cupcake - your mat leave sounds amazing, enjoy! I think if there was anything to worry about with the femur measurement, they would have told you about it, so try not to worry too much (easier said than done, I know).

Rachel - your mammoth post was amazing! Glad the mice have gone!

SK - LOL at your DDs talking about their presents from their new brother! We are having the beginning of difficulties with DS1 - we have had a lovely little seahorse nightlight present for LO, but DS1 keeps taking it out of her crib and taking it to bed with him. So far, we have said that LO is letting him "borrow" the toy until she arrives, but I can foresee problems ahead! Anyone got any tips about how to handle this??

Right, am going into town for the absolute last time before the birth on Saturday so need to make a list of all the stuff that's been recommended for post birth recovery - so far, I have arnica (tablets! Thanks for clearing that up), raspberry leaf capsules, lavender oil and tea tree oil for the bath - anything else that I have forgotten??

Am going in for manicure/pedicure/wax (am desperate!) and hair cut/colour so I look half decent in post birth phtos - can't wait for my last bit of "me time".

Hope everyone else is well - have been watching the leaders' debate but just can't follow the points - will have to read the round-ups tomorrow I think!

Cupcake- of your ML. DH wasnt having a word of it when i suggested i should still get ML even though i dont work since DD.

Pamlet- with you on lugging a toddler about. I too get the "mummy up". Shes got better and now often goes to say it then pauses before saying " mummy big tummy". Glad the exam went well.

LolaAnn- welcome back

Sassles- What a crap day. You should have been recognised too Glad your notes were found

Made Dora cakes with DD today which was fun. Took a trip to Asda for the baby event but didnt really need anything so ended up buying DD a Peppa pig t-shirt ( earning mummy points )
Been busy packing ready for our weekend away for the wedding. We are heading off tomorrow ready for sat. Tried on my dress as its been a while since i bought it and obviously grown.... my god! I look HUGE! the bump will enter the room about 5 minutes before me! Oh well hopefully DD looking adorably cute will take the attention from me!

brightredballoon · 22/04/2010 22:34

Evening everyone

Went to see a friend and her 1 day old DD tonight .... awwwwwwwww she was so cute and Sooo tiny (even though was nearly 8lbs).

Cupcake www.helios.co.uk thats where I got my 200c arnica from. SK I used the 30C after DD and swore they worked so I wouldn't worry you don't have the 200C.
Another top tip I was given was to buy a squirty cosmetic bottle from superdrug and put a carrier oil (wheatgerm etc) and some tea tree oil in it then squirt it onto mat pads and put in the freezer in bags. After DD I had a lot of stitches and putting one of these on was just bliss! Then after my CS I put the mat pad on my scar and again found it extremely soothing, they dont freeze just get cool.

Tomlin thanks for reminding me to book a leg wax, I just have concerns that they will say my hairs are too long I have really neglected it!

Thanks for the frozen meal advice, SK yes I do plan to get some take aways and I will also make up some fresh pesto at the beginning of the week to give some taste to various things.

Getting a bit nervous now girls, I am into single figures until little one arrives, I am really excited but nervous too as flashbacks from DS's birth are coming back.

Gils · 22/04/2010 22:54

Arghhh how do I keep up with this.

Rachel you are so good with the updates, actually had forgotten most of what you commented on. Just so many posts!! Yeah about mice

Tens - not going to use this time and didn't last. Most people I have spoken to have described it as more of a distraction than pain relief. Hoping my labour will be quick again!

Pamelat, glad the exam went well

Sassles, shocking about your work. If its not bad enough that you may miss this interview to also not be recognised for the work is terrible. Fine don't give you alcohol but some sort of acknowledgement for your work isn't too much to ask.

My bump is def different although no one commented. My over the bump trousers and jeans now keep slipping down, rather embarrassing.

Had a nice couple of days. Had first mummy day on Wed. DD at nursery. Didn't do much, DH was in Oxford so was banning me from any activity. She also started playgroup today for 2 hours and I just come home and did nothing.

Got more planned for tomorrow. DH is home at night so will get some housework done, stay active, hopefully bring things along. Someone recommended the WII to me today! Have birthday party and christening this weekend so busy just glad DH will be here.

His work haven't approved him staying local as his boss is stuck in Dubai due to volcanic ash and everyone scared to make decision.

Might be a really stupid question but for those on 2/3/4/5 babies did you know when your waters were going to break, was there any warning? I just went to loo continually never had the gush. Occassionally get this feeling something about to pop! Had some BH also tonight but spoken to bump and explained Daddy not here so stay put for another day! Gong mad!

rachelfruitloop · 23/04/2010 07:58

Good morning!

Going to try to reply as I read things to try to avoid another massive post!

Sazzles that's really awkward about the interview schedule for the promotion. I've read a little about it and there is some good information about rights during maternity leave here at the end of page 8 it talks about promotion and performance assessment.

Gils when my waters broke with DS, I had no indication it was going to happen. I was at hospital actually waiting to be induced and went to the loo and heard an audible "pop". I wasn't sure that was it at first, but when I lay down on the bed it really started gushing!

Hope everyone is well and has a good day!
