Alicetheinvisible · 25/03/2010 14:48

A friend of mine gave me a little summer sleepsuit and matching hat today which her boys had worn. So small compared to the size of DD now, but so scarily big when you realise that something that size will be inside me

I remember feeling like that with DD actually. I was sorting out all the tiny babygrows and vests (was about 34wks) and my friend was over and we were going "awww, so tiny, bless" etc, then i put it against my bump and felt suddenly sick with fear that i was carrying something that size and worse, that it actually had to get out!

Alicetheinvisible · 25/03/2010 14:50

Congrats Moose Your two boys will get on so well i'm sure

CherryPie3 · 25/03/2010 15:13

Huge congratulations Moose - football practice, grass stained shirts and cuddles reserved only for mummy await (unless your lo is anything like my ds who avoids any muddy substance and constantly washes his hands? Clean freak!!)

List updated for you

Nikalah So sweet of your lo to commence kicking on mothers day - you're right, very considerate!! From your post I gather you know it's a little girl? Would you like me to update the list for you?

Congrats on your little boy Elusive!

CazEM · 25/03/2010 16:41

Afternoon all, congrats to Nikalah and Elusive on your team announcements! Isn't it exciting?!! Hope everyone having scans tomorrow has lovely days!

More sickness in my class today - it seems never ending, we need this 2 weeks off to break the cycle of it being passed from one to the next I think! I'm so fed up of cleaning up puke etc.

Got a purrey sleepy cat on my lap again, she is really clingy again at the moment, I'm sure its baby related!

Nearly the weekend girls! Horray, has anyone any plans? We're going baby girl shopping!

carolondon · 25/03/2010 16:54

Afternoon all. Congrats elusive. (i also love the name Lara but unfortunately my DH doesn't) I will be finding out pink or blue next week (fingers crossed) can't wait for tuesday. Any one else got scan next tuesday?

CherryPie3 · 25/03/2010 17:00

Congratulations elusive on your news, i think two boys is great, i always think there's a special bond between same sex siblings

Girlsyearapart, love your parental control with DH, something i will have to bear in mind and Monday will be here soon enough for your scan

soontobefatnat, have a great time on your travels, sounds lovely ( i only have Glastonbury as a holiday lined up this year and maybe the odd weekend away) i am totally NOT of you !

I have been a bit geeky technological this time round and have bought the pregnancy app for the iPhone, anyone else care to admit that?!!

  • anyway some useless useful information for the 20 week mark includes;

The babys skin becomes covered in vernix for protection.

The baby produces meconium - the result of digestion

Your uterus is even with your belly button

(this one made me laugh) you may have put on 10 - 13 lbs......hmmmmmm

anyway enough stuff, time for tea !

LCRLCR · 25/03/2010 17:29

Glastonbury jaysfourth? Me too! Can't wiat! We got a camper van for the first time. I htink baby is goign to enjoy Stevie Wonder!

Jaysfourth · 25/03/2010 17:38

LCRLCR - we are hiring a motorhome this time.... last time i went i was five months pregnant with DD, we camped (tent) and we woke up next to a 5 foot wide stream...due to heavy rains anyway, as we are taking all three kids this time ( 4, 3 and 2) i insisted if we went we had to have a motorhome! I am looking forward to it, but it will be a TOTALLY different experience to those i have had before!!!
( i am not even that clued up as to who is on ) but am excited at the whole kids experience though

CazEM · 25/03/2010 17:49

LCR and Jaysforth! I think you're both crazy going to glastonbury! Haha! Hope you both have a lovely time though!

Chulita · 25/03/2010 18:43

aendr of your robot to do the hoovering, send it my way when it's finished puhleeeze!
blueberries I've only been crocheting for the grand total of about 5 weeks but I got a book from amazon that explains how to do it so easily, and the blanket pattern is really simple. Sounds clever but it's just tying wool in knots with a stick.
cherries I shall dig the recipe out forthwith and type it up. You'll have to let your family eat them though if you're sworn to apples and oranges. No offence meant but I can't see that lasting very long
DD's better today, thanks for asking - at long last. Trouble is she had me up for 90 mins at midnight-ish just wanting to be cuddled. I was so tired that I got into bed and just cried so that kept me up for another half hour today she's been bouncing off the walls and I'm going to go to bed in an hour I reckon!
Congrats on all the scannees!

bluecheesefiend · 25/03/2010 19:09

Hello! Can I join please? My blooming tummy bump is due on August 12th. (team surprise)

I have been wondering if there's a thread for August 2010 babies but every time I remember to look, I get side tracked by "am I being unreasonable"...! God that stuff is gripping!

(I make a mean coffee and walnut cake if anyone's interested??)

Chulita · 25/03/2010 19:38

Welcome bluecheesefiend! Cake is most especially welcome

Right, total thread hijack alert for cherrypie Double-chocolate chunk biscuits

350g plain chocolate, chopped
225g of butter
140g light brown sugar
70g caster sugar
1tsp bicarbonate of soda
2tsp vanilla essence
1/2tsp salt
1 egg
300g plain flour
225g walnuts, coarsely chopped (obv don't have to use these)

-Melt 175g chocolate in a saucepan til smooth, allow to cool.
-Preheat oven to 180C/Gas4. Using electric mixer beat butter, both sugars, bicarb, vanilla and salt til crumbly. Add melted choc and egg, beat til blended, stir in flour, walnuts and remaining choccy.
-Drop in large tablespoons on an ungreased baking sheet (keep them well spaced). Bake 20-30 mins til edges are set but centres are still soft. Transfer to wire rack and cool.
Recipe makes 18 but I'll do them half-size next time (and I overcooked them cos they were still gooey, only just noticed that they're supposed to be that what comes from not reading the whole recipe!
I also just shoved it all in the food processor and stirred in the lumps at the end cos I'm lazy that way

End of hijack, as you were.

Nikalah · 25/03/2010 19:51

Thanks Cherrypie for updating me - really excited!

Chulita what's the title of the crochet book you got from Amazon?

I'm really missing my Nan at the moment - she died earlier this year and was an amazing crocheter. I'd love to make a blanket for little one, and frankly have more than enough time on my hands to teach myself!

My appetite seems to have tripled in the last few days - I think I'll be putting on those 10-13lbs this week!!!

Chulita · 25/03/2010 19:58

It's this one nikalah. Seriously, I'm not creative/crafty at all but it makes it look so easy, within 30 mins I had the beginnings of something! And there are loads of free crochet patterns online.

Chulita · 25/03/2010 20:00

Right, I shouldn't still be up, night night everyone!

cakeywakey · 25/03/2010 20:03

Mmmmmmmm - cookies! YUm

Have just tried to put the sugar bowl in the fridge after making a cup of tea. Think I need an early night. Pregnancy brain? Me?

bouncingblueberries · 25/03/2010 20:04

elusive totally know what you mean about mixed feelings. I know this will be my last baby too and worry that if it's a boy, I'll also be wistfully dreaming of the daughter that I'll never have. It's a weird one isn't it? BUT, saying that, I can totally see the advantages of 2 boys 3 men vying for my attention and worshiping the ground I walk on - sounds good to me

Have a search for the 2 boys threads that were posted recently - they have some lovely stories.

chulita you make it sound so easy - let me know which book it is so I can copy you

bouncingblueberries · 25/03/2010 20:04

Argh! Cross posts - typing too slow!

Thanks chulita sweet dreams.

cazzybabs · 25/03/2010 20:16

This is my last baby too and I feel very very about it....Dh is adamant about it! I think 4 is plenty ...but you know in 8-10 years time dd1 with be 18....and I would just have time ... may have to meet someone else first ...

however just to remind me why I really can't have any more the roof leaked last night into our bedroom - a bit like Chinese water torture without it touching me - grghhhhhh to leaking roofs and the boiler has started making a funny noise....so the new bathroom fund may be further diminished

weehector · 25/03/2010 21:24

Well, Baby Hector has a big nose and a big willie so I guess that makes us team BLUE.

And he's just perfect. In fact, Elusive , my experience mirrors your second para earlier exactly - wriggly, a perfect view of the spine, 'freaky' face.

I'm over the moon, as it feel like a bit like one out/one in for my side of the family since my uncle (my dad really) died but poor Mr Weehector was quietly hoping for a girl.

So hurrah, we've been super cautious and not planned a thing so its all systems go on the names/planning/buying/dreaming front in Hectorland as of tomorrow.

Elusive I loved Lara as a name too..

Good luck tomorrow, Alice & Blueberries and anyone else lucky to have a scan tomorrow!

I've just realised, I referred to the baby as 'he' there...

CazEM · 25/03/2010 21:35

Congrats on your little boy weehector

Its a great feeling isn't it?! I'm so with you on the love rush every time I refer to baby as she or her. And I love using her name with DH!

Haven't moved off the sofa since 6pm, laziest evening in a long time! But it would be a shame to disturb the cat who has slept on my lap for 2 hours! That's the excuse I've been using to get DH to get me drinks, snacks etc! Haha!

Just finishing a very ymuuy bowl half a tub of toffee ice-cream. We will have to install a freezer here so I can share my current fav treat!

Sorry to hear about your roof cazzy - I hope its not too much of an expensive job.

Right think I may move off the sofa and up to bed and watch a bit more TV up there!

CazEM · 25/03/2010 21:36

Oh welcome to bluecheese too!

ElusiveMoose · 25/03/2010 22:11

Hi there bluecheesefiend. I thought you'd like to know that I just tucked into pasta with creamy blue cheese and spinach sauce for dinner . I'm guessing from your name that pregnancy must be really killing you!!

Hector, yay, welcome to Team Blue. Boys are great. Cuddly as anything, and totally adore their mummies .

Blueberries, thanks for that thread - I had a look and it totally made my evening . Good luck for tomorrow, whichever way it goes.

Glad I'm not the only who likes/d Lara as a girl's name .

Knackered. Didn't sleep well last night, so off to crash into bed right now.
