Well I was sick half-way through my lunch, but still managed to finish it lol!!
Maybe they're all listening to the budget?! Or maybe not... I'm more-than-slightly-irritated that if the stamp duty holiday had been increased last year we'd be 2k better off! Oh well!
Also have a ridiculous amount of work to do :-(
But my John Lewis order of baby blankets just arrived including a cute one with mint green spots for swaddling. Cute as!
How are you my dear?

CherryPie3 · 24/03/2010 13:00

Awww, that blanket sounds lovely I haven't bought any blankets yet

I must be completely oblivious to everything thats going on elsewhere in the uk cos I didn;t even know the budget was being released today !!!

Sorry you were sick, thats pants - glad you finished your lunch tho. What a trouper you are!!!

As for work - been in a meeting since 11, lunch at 12:15 - time to start doing something now methinks. Meeting was pants - very patronizing . I hate it when they try to tell you that you're doing your job wrong when they haven't got a clue anyway!!!

Anyway....must chill.....bad temper must not be good for baby

I took DD out for the morning to see some ducks and now I'm off to bed. She's no better this morning so looks like it's going to be another long day. DH is on duty overnight tomoz night too so I'm going to have DD all day tomoz, all night and all day Friday without a break Argh!
Nap time though!
Happy lunchtime everyone!

CherryPie3 · 24/03/2010 13:04

Sweet Dreams Chulita - you definitely need to get some rest, otherwise you're gonna be the one thats ill.

Sending get well vibes to your dd

pamplem0usse · 24/03/2010 13:21

What can I say Cherry - I'm greedy?!

Patronising meetings are the worst!

Chulita have a nice rest!!
xxx

CherryPie3 · 24/03/2010 13:31

Nah, not greedy. Just pregnant

Increased appetite is a symptom, non?

OP posts:
Chulita · 24/03/2010 14:21

Well, the downside to napping when your daughter naps is that you're totally reliant on her actually sleeping - never mind eh?
My appetite's really gone the last week or so, I used to have 2 brekkies, 2 lunches and be ravenous at bedtime but that stage seems to have gone.
I might go and make some chocolate chip cookies, I really fancy them
I'm crocheting this LO a blanket, only trouble is I really don't like the colours I got (got them online) so I might have to use this as practice and find a proper wool shop to get wool I actually like.

CherryPie3 · 24/03/2010 14:30

Chulita Sorry about your nap hun!! And I'm sure your appetite will come back, maybe it's down cos you're so exhausted?

What colours are you crotheting with? I got my Auntie to crochet me a shawl, the wool is white and sparkly - soooo lovely!!

CherryPie3 · 24/03/2010 14:32

Oh goodness - anyone seen this?

Possibly doesn't apply to the majority of us but how scary is that????

Hello August ladies!

Just popping in to deliver some yummy Angel cake to the cake table in way of appology for not posting in an age. I am still a regular reader though!

Chulita - wish my appetie would back down a bit, I'm really enjoying my food at the moment, especially the sweet stuff.

Congrats to all of those ladies that have had their 20 week scan. I have to wait another two week until mine. Can't wait to find out the sex, I look at it as a nice little 'half way through pregnancy treat'!

Hope everyone is keeping well! x

loobyt · 24/03/2010 14:34

Just read the link Cherry, how awful.

LCRLCR · 24/03/2010 14:45

hello all - here's a little curio for you. A good uni friend of mine (who lives in Ireland which is where I am from but I live in the UK) is due a little girl in June. From chatting to her, she plans to call her baby the same girl name that we have chosen should we have a girl (Team Yellow - not going to find out). I still want to use the same name - is that bad form?

xx

CherryPie3 · 24/03/2010 14:50

LCR Of course not!! Call your baby whatever name you love, chances are there will still be more than just those 2 babies with the name anyway. I'm sure your friend will be flattered!

loobyt Thats a really good way of looking at the 20wk scan - as a pregnancy treat. I remember when I was pregnant with dd, my dh's cousin was also pregnant at the same time and she didn't even get a 20wk scan!!

I thought they were standard but she said they opted out because they didn't care if there were any deformities. That sounds really bad in type but she meant it well - basically that nothing would stop her keeping/loving her baby.

OP posts:
loobyt · 24/03/2010 15:02

Cherry - No digging necessary, I know what you mean about your dh's cousin, that's lovely, but I'm FAR to nosey and impatient to miss out on a scan. I was lucky enough to have one at 39 weeks last time too. As i was having a home birth and we lived quite a way from the hospital they wanted to make sure ds was in the right position, ended up being blue lighted to hospital anyway but nice to get the extra peek at ds before the birth!

LCR - I agree with Cherry, it's hard enough to choose a name for your little one so stick with it, great minds and all that!

I'm really struggling with names at the moment, girls aren't too much of a problem but if we have another ds I'm stuck!

bouncingblueberries · 24/03/2010 15:28

Only 48 hours to my scan

But like looby if it's another ds we're going to really struggle for a name. I am a bit worried some of the family will be disappointed if it's not a girl (all other children are boys) - not that they would ever say anything BUT I know both grandmothers are desperate for a little girl to buy dresses for (although if it is a girl, she'll have to be a tomboy to enjoy all our favourite family pusuits!). I'd love a little girl, but I'd love to have 2 boys too! Hmm, maybe should re-think our family size...

(sorry - rambling pregnancy hormones!)

Aussieng · 24/03/2010 15:30

Hello ladies - I've been over on the employment isshoos board complaining requesting advice about my pension situation. Some positive advice (along with how could you be so stupid as to not notice comments . Fair point, I can't deny.

I was also watching the budget - it is a job requirement but it's been a lot of years since there was anything exciting enough in a budget to discuss with our clients!

Anyhooo - Happy birthday Babyducky Chulita I really hope that your DD is feeling better soon. Poor LO.

LCR I'd also go with the name you like. What if in 5 years time you are not even in touch with this friend anymore?

"Cherry* I saw that sling story this morning - horrible, can you imagine how awful that would be.

Am now inundated with HR forms to complete re mat leave. Shine has worn off

Aussieng · 24/03/2010 15:32

"7%4

Thought I might as well go the whole range

weehector · 24/03/2010 15:36

Hola, ladies.

LCR Absolutely no bad form there. I can understand your squeamishness but its natural that the same type of people naturally gravitate towards the same type of names. It's not as if ytou even live in the same country!

I seem to have missed a lot of food chat in 24 hrs - here's my contribution, a plateful of chocolate brownies that I made for a tea party yesterday. I'm starting to out twee myself with vintage tea sets and getting my MIL to knit me a tea cosy. I have to channel the energy somewhere - its not helping that DH is calling me Cocktailzilla as he can see that somewhere deep inside me is a gin and tonic frenzy waiting to get out.

I've been really productive today and taken the bull by the horns to sort out my employment status - I've registered as self employed between Jan and now and as of today, I'm officially a jobseeker (I didn't get that job I went for last week)so that's probably me now until after the baby. I'm now really bitter that a maternity wear company would choose to terminate my probation 3 days after I told them I was pregnant but I'm relieved that the people I spoke to at the DWP & Inland Revenue were really helpful & understanding. I'm sure the honeymoon period will wear off when a spotty 19 year old at my local jobcentre asks me what I've done to try and find work on Friday and I'm still scared that I'll get knocked back for Maternity Allowance. It seems so unfair that I have to worry that the government won't support me at the basic rate despite having a continous employment record, working like a maniac AND paying higher rate income tax for 15 years, then it all going a bit wrong since last July. Immaculate timing, if not an immaculate conception, on my part as usual. Ranting aside, I do feel so sorry for those with work problems - the usual stuff exacerbated by feeling like a mad cow as well as those that are directly or indirectly being discriminated against because they have a bump. Even though I'm broke and worried about money, pregnancy seems hard enough when I have the luxury of doing nothing more than swanning about baking cakes & looking at baby clothes. (Feel free to hit me, I know I have it easy even if it's not through choice).

Much more importantly, I'm getting a late 20 week scan tomorrow and the anxiety is building in equal measure to the excitment at possibly finding out whether we're blue or pink. Trying to interpret the form so far on here - there's 1 x pink, 1 x blue already for the 7 Aug but like Aussie, I'm convinced it's a boy but the old wives' tales are saying its a girl. Only 23hrs and 50 mins to go.

Aussieng · 24/03/2010 15:40

Oh good luck blueberries and Weehector for the scans.

My cousin's wife (who I don't know all that well) has just offered (thorugh her MIL being my aunt, via her sister - my mother) a job lot of baby boy clothes and a mama & papas pram with matching car seat. And she does not want a penny for them. I even asked if she was aware that she could ebay them for quite a bit but no they are mine for the taking. Obviously I will buy thank you gift but woo hoo!!

ElusiveMoose · 24/03/2010 15:49

Hector we can be scan buddies - I've got mine tomorrow as well (10.20am, so I just squeeze in before you ). I have no gut feeling whatsoever about what flavour I'm having, so it will be a surprise either way. Over the last couple of days I keep thinking maybe I should stay Team Yellow, but I know there's no way I'll hold out .

That's awful about the sling deaths. I must admit, when DS was tiny I used to poke him about every five minutes when he was in the sling, to check he was still breathing. I do think that's maybe one advantage of the Babybjorn type slings - the baby is very close to your face, so it's easy to check frequently that they're ok.

Sorry for everyone having work issues - I feel lucky not to have to worry about all that this time round (though to be honest I didn't last time round either, because my company was fab - it probably helped that I was unofficial HR director cos none of the other directors wanted to do the personnel stuff ). Anyway, hope you get it all sorted.

I didn't realise it was budget day either. I actually feel a bit embarrassed - I was quite the current affairs hound before DS was born, but these days if I ever get round to opening the paper it's only to read the lighthearted section. We still get it delivered every day, but mostly the 'serious' bit just sits there all day making me feel guilty .

loobyt · 24/03/2010 15:54

Lucky you Aussie

Good luck with the scans blueberries and Weehector!

CazEM · 24/03/2010 17:10

Evening all! Cream cakes on the table for all!

Started off being one of those days in class but ended nicely! 9.30am I had one child screaming the school down, another making the hole for their feeding tube bleed, another sticking their hands down their throat and making themselves sick! Needless to say I didn't really teach an awful lot before break this morning! I'm glad they all cheered up and behaved better later on! Must've been the bouncy castle treat that bought them all round! Haha!

Came home to a lovely purrey welcome. Fiz obviously missed me today!

Haven't really kept up with the budget today tbh, I'm sure DH will moan about all the necessary bits later on though! and yes Chulita he is a sweety! We were having a remianisant chat last night about when we met and everything since, and we both agreed that getting married last summer changed nothing but absolutely everyhing. Its really hard to describe why, because I can't pinpoint a specific reason but getting married and now pregnant with our little girl has made us really close! Loving it all right now! (Ok I'll stop being mushy now! Haha!)

Sorry to hear about your DD btw, did you manage to get a nap in? You sound shattered..

LCR I agree with everyone else - stick with your name!!

oooo hoping to try and hear baby's heartbeat tonight, my friend gave me her listening thingymabob last night, (Summer Heart-to-Heart prenatal listening machine), I've only seen it on a screen so far, no midwife has had a go yet and I know I might not even be able to find it myself quite yet but going to give it a go! I assume MW will definately have a listen at my 25 week appointment? Anyway hope DH remembers to buy a battery on way home from work. Will let you know later how it goes!

Right going to get on and start cooking tea, chicken in sauce with rice and brocoli tonight. Apologies for super long post!

Chulita · 24/03/2010 17:16

Right, I have just made the most obscene cookies - the trouble with homemade stuff is that you see what goes into them...two bars of chocolate, a whole pack of butter, a good mound of sugar - absolutely divine tasting though! And of course, I'm sharing!
Good luck with the scans blueberries and weehector! cherry, I was attempting a bright rainbow type pattern but none of the colours seem to go together, they're the wrong shade.
aussie that's such a kind offer, trouble is what to get as a thank you pressie!
That sling death thing is horrible We use a baby bjorn for the early days and then an Ergo for DD. I think we're hoping to have them both in carriers if DH is around cos pushchairs are a pain!

weehector · 24/03/2010 17:45

Chulita Are you the Cookiemonster? You do realise I'll have to make a batch now too...

LizzieA · 24/03/2010 18:37

Good luck with the scans ladies.

I've just been to get my eyebrows threaded on the way home from work, it hurt today and never has before, God knows how I'll cope with labour when I was almost in tears at the brow bar in the middle of Debenhams!
