Welcome to the thread, before the thread, before the final thread where I give birth.

And in case you're needing it here is the Post-natal thread

ditto here. and my cervix hurts. good/bad sign?

good contractionometer stats though rkd! it's a start?!!

LouBudd · 17/03/2010 16:37

Sorry I meant my signs post for walnut. Brain definitely not working.

scootergirl think the sharp pain is from babies head bouncing on the cervix which happens more in ladies who have had babies before because we don't have tight muscles to hold baby in the engaged position.

I had another sweep today which wasn't quite as painful. She said I am now between 1 and 2 cm. Means nothing though. She said the best advice I can give you is have a realaxing evening with a glass of wine. She said that once your body relaxes, you quite often go into labour.
Feel achey and uncomfortable but am sure nothing will happen like the last time. Also have a posterior cervix, but had that with dd right up until I was about 6 cm dilated.

pixie you must be so uncomfortable. I wonder what size your beautiful little babies are going to be. Do you know what you are having?

Lovely.
That is a very odd dream.
When people say ooh you're pregnant, what are you having, I always say I have just eaten too many pies.

annamama · 17/03/2010 17:18

Hahaha, what a weird dream Pixie, you're going nuts! That would be... hmm... 16 legs? Could be a good question to ask small child to practice times table.

I was just on the phone to my mum, she called to see if anything was happening yet. I felt really annoyed so I told her I was in an extremely bad mood and maybe that was a sign. Then I had this big crampy pain as I was talking to her, maybe my body was trying to save me from having to say "no nothing yet".

LouBudd - sounds good about the relaxing evening with glass of wine, might try that!

annamama · 17/03/2010 17:20

From Google:

Practice is a noun, practise is a verb. Ice is a slippery thing, whereas ise is not a thing - so remember that practice is a thing and practise is a doing word.

Forgive me, I'm a foreigner, but I hate spelling things wrong!

congrats to ilgb on arrival of alexis

annamamma I'm very impressed with your practise / practice mnemonic. I'm not a bad speller myself but I've always been a bit hazy about that one. Funnily enough I often think people who have English as a second language use it in a much more precise way than those of us for whom (see that whom - accurate eh!) it is a mother tongue.

Keeping everything crossed for you pixie - hope you get some proper contractions starting up and soon.

So what are Aries people supposed to be like then? There's a bit of a lack of them in my life. Mind you, don't know many Pisces either. I'm a Libra (DD was supposed to be too but arrived late and is a Scorpio - eek, like my mother - probably why they get on so well) and DH is a Gemini, so whatever we get I'm not sure it's supposed to be a terribly harmonious match. I'm sure we'll all cope though!

No action here still. I'd love to have a sweep but don't get one until next Monday, if i'm still waiting by then. DH and I are going out for a meal this evening though, so that could well bring on some breaking waters. Fingers crossed - although if we could avoid it happening in the middle of a restaurant that would be good.

I loved OBEM last night. It made me cry. Again. Thought the Dads were great which makes a really nice change.

PacificDogwood · 17/03/2010 18:06

Just checking in to see whether the Pixlettes are here yet !

Good luck with all of you who had sweeps and signs and sensations...

I have 3 pisces and 1 aries - but I had to go and look it up . I am really not that into star signs (can you tell?) although I am a very stubborn taurus...

Arcadie · 17/03/2010 18:09

Swings Agree about the Dads on OBEm. Nice to see that they aren't all tools.

Annamama I remember practice and practise by thinking that it's the same spelling as advice (n) and advise (v) which helpfully also sound different.

and MummyElk you're keeping me going. Bless you.

just chatting with DH.

He wants me to let you know that he can't wait until we've all had our babies because he's fed up with the whinging. (And because we have a pact that I will spend less time on here when I have a newborn)

Yes Pixie, the weirdest thing about giving birth to four horses would be.. the number of legs

Identical twin girls! Awww...

swings it was nice to see Dads on OBEM who weren't hugely annoying and unhelpful. They were both very sweet.

pixie 4 HORSES! never mind the legs, what about the size...still made me laugh now THAT would make a picture
DH wondering what the noise was about!
congrats to ILGB and cheering on those who've had sweeps - are you term? my MW said she wont give me one till Im term even though the consultant agreed to it in my notes.dont think my cervic is particularly favorable yet though, still see what she says tomorrow. and cant be bothered to check spellings and typos sorry, normally do but...
arcadie my DH also thinks Im addicted and have promised to be on not every night for hours less

BH's feeling a bit strange today but prob just uncomfy bump because I've just eaten..

donttrythisathome · 17/03/2010 19:58

Good luck Pixie! So exciting having twins.

Congrats ILGB.

I feel like the queen of sweeps now, having had 3. Including 2 very "rummagey" ones . Haven't fecking worked though! Day 16 now (imagine Big Brother Geordie voice...)

Loubudd loving the idea of the wine and a relax. Feel like I should be marching up and down the stairs and bouncing on me ball. But in fairness they haven't worked and neither have the two doses of castor oil, so it might be time to just throw in the towel and hit the bottle!!

Off to watch OBEM on catch up...

donttrythisathome · 17/03/2010 20:01

Sorry Henrietta - just saw your question. Yes, I was definitely term when I had my sweeps. The first one at plus 10 days, the second at plus 13 and the third at plus 15! Also I believe there's only a point to them if your cervix is soft and a little bit dilated.

Arcadie · 17/03/2010 20:18

Don'ttry Get the wine in. I'm very tempted myself. Can you pour me a chilled Grenache or a full bodied Rioja please?

Not sure which is worse... waiting for day 14 of cycle to test for pg or waiting for day 14 overdue when they'll get it out suggest a more proactive approach to starting my labour.

I'd start a thread but would be instantly gunned down in flames by the TTC brigade who have every right to not listen to my bored, not even overdue whinging.

OP posts:
Arcadie · 17/03/2010 20:21

Oh missed Pixie that so sounds like labour. Come on Pixlings Don'ttry I swear if it were possible to give yourself a S&S I'd be up to 10 by now.... And the 3 I had with DD didn't get me into labour but sure helped speed things up in the latent phase. 5cm without even a painful BH!

donttrythisathome · 17/03/2010 20:32

Arcadie I'm on the rotgut whiskey now . Heard it goes v well with castor oil. Hope the sweeps work the same for me!

Ok DH waiting for me to watch OBEM now so I'm off.

ilovegreenbeans · 17/03/2010 20:39

I'm back I'm back! Thanks for the messages.

We got home last night- baby Alexis born Saturday 13th. Had meconium issues and baby had iv abs for a few days but all ok now.

Get this though (not trying to rival you Smac): I pushed her out all by myself, only 2 small tears and she's 10lb 14!

Arcadie · 17/03/2010 21:10

See now I'm just cross. Today was my original due date ( check back - it's true) and now not one, but TWO of my friends have had their babies today.

I'm NOT PLAYING ANYMORE.

And goes to make some craft stuff for toddlers tomorrow.

Evening all, Sorry I have been absent for some two weeks. Young /ben is an angel except that he was readmitted to the hospital for 3 days with jaundice and refuses to gain weight !!! Make the most of your time child free cos when he/she arrives there will be very little time for mumsnetting !!!

Off to express some more to try to feed young chap up.

Good luck to you all!!!
xx
