Welcome to the thread, before the thread, before the final thread where I give birth.

And in case you're needing it here is the Post-natal thread

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

hecklephone congratulations!!! Looks like your folks were right to "cross the water" after all! Love love love the name Robin. Sweet yet a little bit ballsy all at the same time.

I'm on daily monitoring now to avoid induction for the moment. Had a scan to check the amniotic fluid today and all is well

But if nothing happens I'm booked in for induction Friday night and will keep the appointment I think (will be 40 plus 18 I think then. The midwife recommended castor oil!! I have just taken some

Positive labout vibes to all and good luck with the leg Arcadie.

Re: acronyms. TTC is Trying to Conceive - I started a mid thirties TTC thread last year. Don't know what BESH/PESH is though - the thread evolved way beyond my reach!

swingsofglory · 16/03/2010 16:34

Keep positive don't try - good friend of mine had her first at 40 +16 so maybe tomorrow's the day

congrats to hecklephone Arcadie hope your leg's OK

Dalyrmps I know what you mean - I'd like to have this one without being induced too in an ideal world... we shall just have to wait and see if it's possible.

Saw the M/W today who said baby is so low down she can only feel the shoulders now and she advised getting jiggy with DH as I only needed one dose of prostaglandin before and it was basically the same stuff(although I remember on an earlier thread somebody said it was 30 times stroner in the gel!). Don't think DH could manage 30 times. It may be slightly tricky to persuade him to do it once even now that my mother is staying in the next room...

swingsofglory · 16/03/2010 16:38

That'll be 30 times stronger - not stroner.

Walnut8 · 16/03/2010 17:30

Big congratulations heckle!

Dalrymps I hope the sweep went well this afternoon.

Annamamma I was also telling baby that it would have been a nice day to be born! When does Pisces run out again? Don't know many Aries but they sound a little intense

Arcadie hope all is well with the leg!!

Rindercella good to hear that you are feeling a bit better this week. I'm so over nesting!!

Shroomer she rummaged around?!?!? That sounds awful! Hope it wasn't too uncomfortable!

Pixie thanks for the reminder about twofalls birth. had a quick re-read and feel a bit more positive .

donttry good to hear that all is well, even if labour has started just yet. Sending you good vibes!

swings what does it feel like to have a baby down that low?! I also read that thread about the gel being 30 times stronger than the actual thing .. doesn't seem to ring true to me as we were told in ante-natal class that the real thing is stronger than the gel ...

Arcadie · 16/03/2010 18:02

Heckle Well done! It's nice to remember that babies do come out eventually!

Pacific Blimey those chat ladies get a bit full on don't they!? Glad I have my AN & PN thread as the AIBU and chat threads scare the living daylights out of me.

all thanks so much for your good wishes - it's so nice to think that whilst I've been putting my feet up being tested this afternoon that you guys have been furiously posting good vibes for me.

So - 8am phoned GPs to say can a MW phone me as my leg hurts in a DVT kinda way
8:45 MW phoned and said to get me an emergency GP appt.
11am Saw GP who did a check of my sore veiny sad legs and a D-dimer test (checks for a particular protein that is given off by blood clots) D-dimer was positive. (But as you'll all know pregnancy can give a false positive D-dimer ) Sent me henceforth to...
1pm York District Hospital's brand spanky new ante-natal Triage ward. The loveliest MWs on God's green earth gave me the works. Wee,temp, BP, bloods (every test..!!), baby heartbeat CTG, blood gases etc etc. Felt very pampered. Even got some sexy surgical stockings. And a portered wheelchair ride to the ultrasound dept where they checked my leg out and said NO CLOT!!!! Hurray hurray.

So I'm back home ignoring bonding with my children. Knackered (had a migraine too) but happy.

Oh and baby 2/5ths engaged. But staying put for a while.

Hurray for Heckle and lack-of-dvt things for Arcadie and OBEM night (??!! never watch now as can't think about birth without crying....)and strong getamoooooooooveon vibes for all those stubborn babies who like to take their time.

Come on babies- it's hard work keeping up with two threads....

Arcadie · 16/03/2010 20:09

For those who gave a monkey's - according to that thread that Pacific linked to,

BESH = Barren something ( emotional?) Selfish Hags
PESH = Pregnant something Selfish Hags.

It's a TTC vs Antenatal distinction. Nice terms I thought.

OP posts:
BusyMissIzzy · 16/03/2010 20:26

Thanks Arcadie (and good news about your leg). Selfish Hags eh? I suppose it's all good natured...

PacificDogwood · 16/03/2010 20:40

E for 'evil', if you still care... I bowed out of that thread before it got too insane heated although lurked a bit longer. Well, IMVHO, horses for courses, nobody has to like every thread title but I just cannot get too het up about it

Good news re leg, Arcadie! Is it just a fetching bit of superficial phlebitis then? You just keep those tootsies up and let DH look after you .

Apologies to BusyMissIzzy, sorry I got your name wrong last night - or was it on the P/N thread ; anyway, sorry! Hope feeding went well today.

Any more babies 'popped out' (DS2's preferred expression in regards to childbirth..) today??

Arcadie · 16/03/2010 21:15

Pacific no it is not "superficial" phlebitis. It is raging-hardcore-gnaw-your-own-leg-off phlebitis.
Dh doing a bang up job of looking after me. He's so lovely.

I would have posted on that thread but also couldn't be arsed.

OP posts:
PacificDogwood · 16/03/2010 21:21

Oh, sorry Arcadie, I am sure it is agony and you are being Very Brave and Stoical in the Face of Adversity .

I am off to bed while the going is good here. Had a day spent cluster feeding and am bored so might as well try and get some sleep...

BusyMissIzzy · 16/03/2010 22:42

Pacific, I hadn't even noticed! Of course have now gone back to re-read and am deeply, deeply hurt . Nah, no worries. Still having slight BF troubles. She keeps drifting off after feeding for about 5 mins! I can jiggle/poke/prod her into a few more sucks for 10 mins or so but it just doesn't feel like a "quality" feed, and then she's hungry again an hour later. Takes about 3 of these "snack" feeds (with burping and nappy change in between) to knock her out properly. I am aware though that some babies need feeding every hour or two all day, so should feel lucky really that 50% of the time she's sleeping for 4-5 hours.

Anyone watch OBEM? Was quite a different viewing experience now I've been through it myself!

MummyElk · 16/03/2010 23:59

quick one because it's late...
congrats heckle lovely name, and unusual, great one!
Good news arcadie about the leg, glad you milking it resting up and working the DH . seriously, my friend had phlebitis and he said it was v painful, so much sympathy.
pixie come on girl you know you can do it...(go properly overdue I mean)....

I went to theatre tonight, lovely version of Romeo and Juliet (based in an old people's home, it worked... no really, it DID). You have got to love people's reactions when they patronisingly say "And how many weeks do we have left now dear" and I quip "two days". I sat in those mightily uncomfortable upper circle seats with Great Aplomb and Proper British Dignity. I thank you.

MW tomorrow. She didn't think she'd need to see me!! hmpf.

night all

Caitni · 17/03/2010 00:13

Just a quick note on behalf of Caitni, Richard Walter C. was born 16/3 at 15:19. He weighed in at 4.1 Kg (9lb 1oz). A bit more excitement than anticipated, but thanks to excellent care from all the staff at the Whittington mother and baby are both in great form and expect to be home on Thursday so she can resume Mumsnetting herself, but now as a mum!

-Caitni's DH

P.S. A big thanks from me for all the support you all have given Caitni (and by extension me) throughout the pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and no doubt beyond.

Sariska · 17/03/2010 02:25

Wonderful news, Caitni and Hecklephone. Many congratulations to you both.

Romeo &Juliet in an old people's home? Sounds more imaginative than the "street" version, iyswim, that I saw a while ago. Anyway, sending you good labour vibes, MummyElk. Maybe things will be happening by the time you see the MW.

Yep, I agree with you, BusyMissIzzy, OBEM is definitely different viewing once you've done it yourself (or recently refreshed your memory of the whole childbirth lark). It even - and, yes, I'm sure I sound utterly mad, made me a bit sad that I have probably done it for the last time. (Although I will not miss middle of the night nappy changes.

donttrythisathome · 17/03/2010 08:13

Congratulations Caitni! How wonderful. Lovely names, lots of "gravitas"!!

pureeandpearls · 17/03/2010 08:43

Not very often we get a DH on here either Congratulations Caitni. Now who's today's labour-intensive??

Arcadie · 17/03/2010 08:55

Caitni WoooooHOOOOO!!!! I'm so pleased you got a baby finally! Just seen the photos on FB and he is lovely and snuggly. Well done.

MummyElk Thank you. It does hurt but to be honest the hosp trip was never about the hurty leg and was all about the "tell me it's not a blood clot" I'm so brave. I'm so stoical. I'm SO ready to have a baby now............ ( 9 days to go!) / (23 days to go!)

OP posts:
Arcadie · 17/03/2010 08:56

P&P Today's labour candidate is my friend Susie who was due the day after me and has very rudely queue jumped. She had a totally horrible labour with an EMCS last time so I wish her only good things this time. But I also wish it could be me soon.

OP posts:
Arcadie · 17/03/2010 08:58

Busy Yes I saw OBEM. Felt for the couple who ended up with the CS but more because he just didn't seem to know if he was allowed to be calling himself Dad. What a brave and top guy.

Both DHs most impressive yesterday and finally a nice natural normal delivery to remind us that they do happen.

I of course was in a large puddle on the floor with snot and weepance by the end.

OP posts:
Arcadie · 17/03/2010 09:01

Oh and this thread is particularly chucklesome for those of you whiling away the weeks until B-Day

OP posts:
annamama · 17/03/2010 09:32

Aww bless Caitni's DH, that post almost made me cry... Big congrats to you both!

Yes babies DO come out eventually...

Arcadie - good job it wasn't a clot, hope you are recovering.

Where is Shroomer who was due on the 15th as well as me, don't you dare have your baby before me?

Don't Try - you took castor oil? That stuff seems nasty, how did it go?

Swings - good luck with getting that final dose of prostaglandins in there!

Walnut - Last day of Pisces this year (it changes from year to year) is the 19th. So 20th is Aries, despite what you read in some magazine horoscopes. Oh where's my Pisces baby??

Pixie - hope your DD recovers soon, that sounds awful! And of course I would name my baby after you if born today as predicted but I don't think so... Oh, so you might actually see your due date, amazing. I guess it's good in a way as most twins tend to be quite small when born but yours will be all ok!

As for me I really thought something was happening yesterday as I was having cramps and something just felt different. But today I don't really feel anything, bah. Going to MW for a sweep at 12.

Shroomer · 17/03/2010 09:44

annamama I'm still here! I posted yesterday to say that my cervix wasn't favourable for a sweep. So still in waiting...

Henrietta · 17/03/2010 09:52

congrats Heckle & Caitni will look our for your birth stories
annamamma good luck with sweep
