Welcome to the thread, before the thread, before the final thread where I give birth.

And in case you're needing it here is the Post-natal thread

congrats to scooter belgianmummy & Bella Arcadie thanks for that - Ive been worried as baby seems to have turned almost back to back and I was wondering if I would have a painful labour seeing it doesn't seem to want to turn back.

also annamamma I was just thinking I wouldn't bother with asking again for sweep on Fri though Ill be 39+4 then because I was starting to wonder if it made any difference - it may have been that I was already in labour last time and he was going to come anyway the next day. Who knows for sure..
Bit tired today lots of BHs last night stong enough to stop me from sleeping well nut not really strong enough to be called contractions - I have to breathe through them but there is no pain just discomfort.

kay1980 · 23/03/2010 18:01

Hello ladies haven't posted on here in AGES but just thought I would congratulate all those lucky ladies who have had their babies I am VERY jealous I am 40+5 today went to have a sweep but she couldn't do it because my cervix is still quite long so she couldn't reach. This baby just does not want to come out at all! Having another one on Friday and if nothing happens by then I'm booked in for induction on Monday night hopefully she will make an appearance before then

MummyElk · 23/03/2010 19:13

Evening all
Am so sorry for abandoning you, I know you haven't really noticed my absence but I have lurked occasionally and noticed the cumulative babies/grumpiness levels and felt bad for the latter and happy for the former.... but just too knackered/overwhelmed to post anything substantive.

CONGRATULATIONS to the various new mummies here, with some lovely birth stories by the sounds of it!! Will linger over on PN thread later and savour them!

BIG LOVE to all overduers/nearly duers - caitni's point about her last two weeks being the most psychologically tough is definitely right. please don't be hard on yourselves. You are doing such an important, special thing and those babies will be even more perfectly baked.
Friday was one of the hardest, grumpiest times of my life, literally was about to throw the towel in (as if that was possible) and spent too many hours crying on DH saying it just wasn't possible and I couldn't do it. Like annamama i was holding my baby soon after....

Will post birth story yada yada etc etc over on PN.
Really sorry but don't have the mental capacity of the Great pacific to individually namecheck, and even if I could, DD2 is squeaking. And yet to convince DD1 that it's bedtime...

More anon.
YOU ARE ALL DOING A BRILL JOB

MummyElk you're keeping me going.... .

Off to pray about having baby rather than moan about not having baby. Hey - it worked for Elk

Congrats to the 3 new baby owners Don't Try, Scooter and Belgian!

Shroomer - don't worry too much about back to back. This one was apparently back to back but must have turned the right way before or during labour. My first one probably turned back to back during labour as I was made to lie on my back most of the time and stupid enough not to argue about it. Don't worry about scrubbing floors, but when you do go into labour try to stay in good positions then. I was leaning forward in every contraction, it was the most comfortable position so I did it naturally. I ended up giving birth on my back though but it didn't matter.

Henrietta - yeah who knows about sweeps, but I think they probably help speed up things if you're close anyway.

Arcadie · 23/03/2010 22:23

In my defence, it was filthy.

waves hello to the mummies in waiting !
I have a very clingy baby and I don't really have the patience for one handed typing but I have been lurking.
Huge congrats to the new mummies and thinking of you all still waiting.

Henrietta · 24/03/2010 02:02

whisper they're coming every 5-8mins ....

Henrietta · 24/03/2010 08:02

Am really after being strong enough to have to wear my tens to breathe through my cx kept me awake till 5am where they tailed off so I 1 hours sleep before kids woke up. Now back to being BHs, and I am tired, cross and miserable and not being a good mother to my others . So no nothing else is happening here
sorry about me post had to cry to someone

pureeandpearls · 24/03/2010 08:20

< sneaks wanders in looking for Arcadie's latest updated baby arrivals list so she can pass it off as her own forward it on those on the Other Side, thus saving poor Arcadie some hard work >

Henrietta, that sucks. Hoping they kick in again soon xx

Arcadie- I feel your pain. Whilst you are on a roll, where's the list?? x

Arcadie · 24/03/2010 08:40

Henrietta That royally royally sucks. If they were coming that fast and furious they'll be back soon and you'll have your LO very shortly.

P&P Will do. Soon.

Rindercella · 24/03/2010 08:47

DontTry, Scooter and Belgian, many congratulations on your happy arrivals. Really fantastic news for you all

Henrietta, that is so tough for you. Let's hope it's your body doing its final warm up before the real event and you don't have too much longer to go.

Arcadie, don't be about scrubbing the floors! I promise you, my house has never been so clean. My reasoning is that it can't be a bad thing to do for the baby's position and it must be a good thing for labour preparation. Mind you, every time I clean a room or do a supermarket shop, I think that this is the last time I will have to do this before the birth, only to find myself in exactly the same position thinking exactly the same thing a few days later!

Well, today is my official due date. I was so sure this baby was going to be a week or so early and now I am just hoping she's not going to be a week or two late.

Having my MIL here is an absolute Godsend. DD adores her and wants Granny to do everything, leaving me feeling slightly redundant (which is a good thing). I can slope off for an afternoon nap without feeling guilty.

I am feeling pretty good in myself, thankfully all niggly bugs, etc., haven't made a reappearance so I feel better physically than I have done in ages. People keep commenting on how well I look too. In fact some complete nutter nice young man was hugely surprised when he noticed my bump the other day and told me how slim I was! One way to make an older deluded lady very happy! Speaking of which, this baby had better arrive soon - it's my 40th at the beginning of May and I want to have plenty of time between birth of baby and my birthday in order that I can celebrate in comparative style!

Good luck to all us stragglers over the next week or two. It's tough being the last ones on the list.

PacificDogwood · 24/03/2010 09:18

Morning, ladies!

Congrats to all the new mummies I missed - Donttry and Bella, I think, and anybody I missed. See you on the Dark Other Side when you are ready.

Sympathies to Henrietta, that just rubbish for you; I like the idea of thinking of it as a 'warm up' . Hopefully you'll see real action soon.

Happy due date to Rinders! Arcadie*, when your house is all sparkling, would you come over here and get started on my floors, please ?

Have a good day all of you, whether it involves new babies or not.

BusyMissIzzy · 24/03/2010 09:38

Wow, I turn my back for a day and we have four more babies! Congrats to BellasYM, Scootergrrl, DontTry and BelgianMummy (apologies if I've missed anyone).

Henrietta, hope it all picks back up soon. I'm sure it can't be long now.

Hugs to anone else feeling blue... it's not fun, but MummyElk is absolutely right, the babies need it and they'll be healthy and lovely and perfectly baked when they do decide to make an appearance. And try not to be hard on yourselves, late pregnancy is really difficult. I'm actually finding baby easier than bump was toawrds the end, BF problems and all! (Mind you, I say that after a good night of 4-hourly feeds rather than 1.5-hourly; fingers crossed she keeps that up)

annamama · 24/03/2010 09:40

Oh Henrietta I'm sure they will start again very soon! Good luck...

Shroomer · 24/03/2010 09:55

Sweep hasn't worked. It's been almost 24 hours since I had it. Thank you Annamama for the reassuring words about a back to back baby - makes me feel better about it.

Walnut8 · 24/03/2010 12:17

Wow where did all these babies come from?! Congratulations belgianmummy, scootergrrrl and Donttry. You all sound so happy and besotted

Thanks for the words of encouragement Mummyelk and all of those who come back from the Other Side to check up on us. Good to know we aren't forgotten.

Henrietta! how annoying and frustrating. You must be close though! Good luck!!

Do you have another booked Shroomer? The one I had a few days ago didn't do a lot either. Had a show but that was about it.

Got up early for a 2nd sweep this morning and now very tired, teary and beyond fed up. This time much more painful, apparently 2cm dilated which I guess is better than nothing. Had bad period pains for a while but have dropped off now. SIGH

Rindercella · 24/03/2010 12:24

Oh Walnut, just want to send positive vibes your way. You must be getting so fed up now, I do feel for you. Positive vibes to you too Shroomer. xxx

Walnut8 · 24/03/2010 14:23

Thanks so much Rinders - just had a nap and feel a bit better ... I'm sure half of this waiting anxiety and grumpiness is due to sleep deprivation.

LouBudd · 24/03/2010 14:39

Hey ladies, it's all happening here. Trying to regulate my contractions that have been anywhere between 4 and 8 mins since 7 this morning. Had forgotten how much they can hurt. Will hopefully have a baby by tonight but will keep you posted. Lots of ball bouncing and walking seems to be doing the trick. x

Walnut8 · 24/03/2010 14:44

Go LouBudd! Good luck!

Must get up energy to go for a walk...
