Welcome to the thread, before the thread, before the final thread where I give birth.

And in case you're needing it here is the Post-natal thread

Sorry x-posted arcadie!

Nice work Manda ... although that's one competition I really don't want to enter. Would like to be very much in the hospital by that stage!!

Rindercella · 22/03/2010 19:44

Many congratulations Iwonka - fabulous news, fabulous name

belgianmummy all the luck in the World tomorrow. Hope it goes well and you're doing absolutely the right thing by looking at all the positives. The end game must be a healthy baby and a healthy Mum, however we all get there.

No advancement here. I was so positive that this baby was going to make an appearance before her due date! The really good news is that my MIL is now here, so that's a huge weight off our minds - I can go iabour and not worry about how quickly someone can get here to look after DD. My brilliant SIL (who drove MIL up) brought a load of food from her restaurant with her too, so that's one less thing I need to think about.

I am getting some quite strong contractions, but nothing consistent. I spent the morning cleaning the house (it's never been so clean), including geetting on my hands & knees doing the skirting boards. The other day the mw thought the baby may be lying OP, so anything to get her to turn!

Pixie, you must win the posting on MN/labour thing hands down. I am forever in admiration of you!

Ladies, we don't have long to go now, surely?

Arcadie tis very quiet from you today?

Rindercella · 22/03/2010 19:49

Bollocks, Arcadie so sorry about our x-posts. Sorry to hear you're down. Really, really not long to go now though...the end is in sight, I promise

C'mon babies.....esp Arcadie. We need our head girl team back!!

BellasYummyMummy · 22/03/2010 21:37

hello all! posted this on the childbirth thread and forgot to post here so have copied and pasted!
delighted to say my second daughter, eloise scarlett, literally flew into the world 17th march at 525am! I woke at 3am with very painful contractions, DH woke up 10 mins later by which point i had had 4! didnt think we'd make it to the hospital, i literally was on my hands and knees crawling through the main entrance!
examined, 8cm by 430! wanted pain relief but even i knew there was no time, contractions every 1-2 mins. I had her after 7mins of pushing. Never experienced anything like it in my life. All gas and air, not the epidural birth i had wanted! but it was the most amazing thing to be up ad walking around after, and i feel so amazing. Only a very small first degree tear and she was 9lbs 4oz!!!!! I was able to go home 8 hours later.
(DD1 was a 22 hour labour, ended up with epidural, ventouse and episiotomy so very very different!).
Im soo happy

Henrietta · 22/03/2010 21:38

Loubud & Scootergrrl have you had your babies??

DrSkidaddle · 22/03/2010 21:41

congrats iwonka but sorry to hear labour was such a marathon. I love the name Sofia - I wanted to call DD that but DH wouldn't let me!

Big sympathies to all those still waiting - fingers crossed those babies come soon and you never know arcadie, no. 3 might come early/on time - my SIL went to 40+14 with her first and second but 3rd was 10 days early...

good luck for tomorrow belgianmummy

Arcadie · 22/03/2010 22:39

Scooter has, LouBudd hasn't yet AFAIK.....

Caitni · 22/03/2010 23:57

Hi ladies

Just a quick post from me to say hello . Big congrats to all the new mums since I last posted - yay for all the babies . Really hope all the remaining babies don't keep their mamas waiting too much longer. The two weeks overdue I went were the psychologically hardest of the entire pregnancy...

Sorry for being so absent, but I've spent practically no time on t'internet since DS made his appearance last Tuesday. His birth was just about as far from the home water birth I'd planned as possible - the induction went pretty horribly and I ended with a crash section. I'll post the details on the post-natal thread at some point, as it still makes me a little emotional. But the staff at the hospital were amazing, both during the induction, the section and on the post-natal ward (I even had the doctors and midwives involved in the section popping in to see me the next day at the end of their shifts).

But my beautiful boy makes it all worthwhile. He's feeding brilliantly, he's gorgeous (and looks very like my DH as a baby ), he's providing endless hours of fun. Becoming a family of 3 has been the best adventure of my life and the recovery from the section seems to be going OK.

Right, off to see if I can catch up a bit on the post-natal thread!

PacificDogwood · 23/03/2010 09:56

Good morning, ladies!

I have not been on MN for over 24 hours and feel in full-blown withdrawal !! This looking-after-a-newborn-lark is not half timeconsuming and tiring...

Huge congratulations to all new mummues: Iwonka ( at the length of your labour), Bella ( at the speed of your labour) and Caitni ( at crash CS - hope it was not too scary) !
And, presumably, Dalrymps, but will wait for her 'proper' announcement.

V best of luck to BelgianMummy for today's CS - hope everything goes well and you end up with perfect baby and perfect tummy - which is more that I can say I have...

Hello to everybody I have not namechecked.

I was trying to persuade DH to post on here on his Blackberry right after he had cut DS4's chord but he was too busy holding him and gazing at him - wuss! - so it is his fault if I cannot compete with you fast posters !

Have a good day with happy babies or good labours starting/ending (delete as appropriate)

Walnut8 · 23/03/2010 11:34

Well done Caitni and congrats again. I've just read your birth story on the PN thread! It sounds quite amazing and made me a bit teary. I didn't realise a Bishops score could actually go down?! It sounds like all three of you are doing really well now which is great to hear.

Congratulations Bellas - were you overdue in the end? Was just reading an overdue thread and looks like you were 11 days overdue? That gives me hope ... 10 days overdue today.

Thanks for the reminder that baby will eventually come, Pacific. Patience and serenity definitely in short supply around my place at the moment.

Walnut8 · 23/03/2010 11:36

Sorry not sure my post made a lot of sense, was interrupted half-way through. Should really really preview before I post ...

swingsofglory · 23/03/2010 11:41

Thanks Pacific - nice to hear from you especially the timely reminder what hard work a newborn can be. Must hold on to that thought while still waiting... and as you're offering, I'll take all the patience and serenity you've got!

Congrats to bella and good to hear from you caitni - hope you continue to recover well from your section.

Arcadie sorry you're feeling blue. I totally relate to where you are at the moment. It is very hard to hear of others passing the finishing post while your own personal posts keep moving backwards.

I have decided to throw money caution to the winds and have embarked on a programme of pedicures, accupuncture and cream teas to try and make myself feel better. It can't hurt (anything other than my bank balance!).

annamama · 23/03/2010 12:07

Congrats Caitni and Bellas! Quite different births but it's the end results that matters... Caitni, it sounds pretty awful what you went through and it's a shame you didn't get the birth you wanted, but maybe next time...?

Re cervixes and sweeps, my cervix was quite thick and posterior and sweep didn't hurt. MW said labour is not imminent. 32 hours later I was holding my baby.

Arcadie - I know it sucks waiting! Maybe your low mood is a sign of labour starting soon!

Rinders - any update?

Swings - feeling nothing after sweep then?

Ok Manda you win the posting closest before delivey competition, well done!

I don't know if I crapped myself, think I might have felt someone wiping my bum quickly so I probably did.

DH said the birth looked "graceful" by the way, bless him.

This baby feeds non stop too, but I still prefer out to in... Being heavily pg is boooring! Good luck all, wanna see you soon on PN thread. x

Shroomer · 23/03/2010 12:41

Another person feeling blue here. May not post for a few days. Midwife finally managed a sweep this morning, but told me that baby now has its back to my back. I know Annamama didn't exactly have a great birth with her first in that position, so I'm rather down about that.

The MW booked my induction for 42+1 because the hospital is full up on 42 weeks. But the hospital think they may get me on at 42 (if someone gives birth beforehand). So even my induction date is horribly vague, and I can't focus on that.

Scootergrrrl · 23/03/2010 13:10

Hello all - am back home with baby Daniel Anthony, born Sunday at 10.46am weighing 3.78kg (8lb 5 I think in old money!).
I'll put a proper birth story on later but it was all very quick and straightforward (apart from the second degree tear and the shouting during transition that I'd changed my mind and I didn't want the baby any more) and he's a not-so-little darling. More later.
Hope everyone else isdoing ok.

Arcadie · 23/03/2010 13:17

Ach Shroomer that's really crap. Not even to have a fixed induction date SUCKS. I hereby take off my "Queen Of Grumpiness" crown and pass it rightfully onto you.
Yadda yadda clean floor and spend time on all fours etc etc (yawn to that advice). But a cheery reminder that my DS turned from back to back to OA during labour so it won't necessarily be a major problem.

Swings Like your plan

Pacific Thanks for sticking with us. We love you.

Caitni and Bellas COngrats and more congrats. Although I'll take Bellas labour if that's ok....

Belgianmummy Hope today's going well.

scootergrrl, congratulations and at your transition antics. Lovely name for what I am sure is a perfect little darling .

Arcadie and Shroomer, I think swings approach to passing time in the waiting room is just perfect . I hereby order you to go out and have mani-pedis/facials/massages/cream teas/etc right until you are all in established labour !

BelgianMummy · 23/03/2010 16:57

Yasper was born at 3:20pm and weihs 4.2 kg and is 55 cm. We are over the moon. Still in recovery so short post.

Hi everyone.

Just back from hospital with Bay Amaryllis! She was born last Thursday. She is absolutely gorgeous and me and DH are besotted.

Sorry for the delay in posting - but literally home a couple hours.

Haven't had a chance to read any posts. Will catch up.

Full birth story to follow on postnatal. Did have a homebirth of sorts but medical emergency of aspirated meconium led to bluelight to hospital where all hell broke loose!

All perfect though now.
