And in case you're needing it here is the Post-natal thread

congratulations to mummyelk loubud anything happening.

Can someone tell this baby to behave - didn't move much yesterday nor last night so I finally went in at 3am to have checked out because it wasn't complaining when I turned over in bed and usually thats when its most active(tried all usual stuff sweet/sour/hot/cold drinks and putting hand on belly to simulate monitor)- guess what - the minute the real monitor was put on it at hosp- it kicked round and is fine grrr [wags finger at naughty bump emoticon]BH's still coming every 10 mins wish they'd either step up into real labour or go and get lost-very annoying

Walnut8 · 20/03/2010 11:30

Congratulations annamamma, mumoftwopointfive, and mummyelk! Some great births by the sounds of things and beautiful names.

Hope things are going well Loubudd after positive signs yesterday.

Henrietta's bump: BEHAVE! It's so worrying when they don't move isn't it? Especially when you've tried the usual things.

Swings I'm still waiting too. You have a while to go though before induction right? Sending you some positive vibes.

And a BIG hello to everyone still left here, especially those who are not having contractions or any other signs Sigh.

I'm wondering if all of you labour pros can help me ... this is my first baby, and I'm becoming increasingly confused about the right time to go to hospital. They told us in antenatal classes to head to hospital when contractions reach three for every ten minutes, 30-45 seconds long. We live what could possibly be a 45 minute taxi ride to hospital in peak hour, so planned to leave as soon as contractions reached this sort of frequency. Then yesterday the midwife told me that, should I happen to go into labour naturally (I have induction booked next weekend), then I should really wait until I've been having contractions every two minutes for at least 2 hours! What do you all think? This sounds like leaving it really late to me and is worrying DH - but her reasoning was that as this is my first, it's unlikely I'll progress very quickly and she doesn't want to have to send me all the way home.

In other news .. not much is happening here, except that I had a crap night, with waves of nausea all through the early hours.

Walnut - when I started having contractions 2 mins apart the baby was almost on its way! I'd say when they're regular, strong and around 5 mins apart you wanna head to hospital. If you do get sent home it's not the end of the world although of course very annoying, but I would rather do that then leave it too late again, was very scary thinking I was having a baby in the car!

Walnut8 · 20/03/2010 12:24

I know Tigress has had her baby and fairly sure that FourLittleDucks was on an overdue thread and has had hers as well... I wonder what happened to Don'ttry??

Hopefully Dalrymps can join the other side too by now.

Walnut8 · 20/03/2010 12:26

Thanks annamamma - I don't want to leave it too late!! Especially as I'd like to try for a water birth.

Sariska · 20/03/2010 12:44

I know of another baby!!! Does anyone else know who I'm talking about? V. Good birth from what I can gather, too!

Walnut - For my first I waited until contractions had been coming every 2 mins for an hour or two but I only lived 15 mins away from hospital. Baby was born 11 hours after we arrived. Should have been quicker (probably 6 or 7 hours) but everything stopped at transition and required synto to get it going again.

This time round I got to hospital after contractions had been full on every 2 mins for about 2 hours - and, although I wasn't quite as quick as anna , I was still damn lucky baby was not born at a set of red lights. I suspect this kind of speed is less common with first babies but not unheard of (rebeccacad's birth was pretty quick) so, given how far you live from the hospital I'd be tempted to go in earlier. Apart from anything else, travelling in a car in strong labour with almost constant contractions is about as far from comfortable as it's possible to get. I wouldn't like to experience 45 mins of it.

BelgianMummy · 20/03/2010 13:04

Congratulations annamamma, mumoftwopointfive, and mummyelk and the mystery mum (I know who it is too Sariska)

I can't believe how short the list of us waiting Marchers is!

I am now 40+4 and time is running out for my VBAC. I am booked in for an ELCS on Tuesday. I have tried reflexology, acupuncture, lots of ball bouncing, a little husband bouncing and curries (another one will be ordered tonight). I am woken up by very crampy period pains lots of mornings, but then they just go away as soon as I get out of bed ... I think it might just be baby moving. No show yet nor any other signs ... I've been able to stay very positive about it so far, but today I am just depressed. Sorry for the rant...

Thanks Pixie! Well done with your twins by the way.

Arcadie · 20/03/2010 14:14

Sariska Yes I know who you mean. She has a day to post before I out her

Belgianmummy and swings I stand firmly with you on the feeling rubbish today. DH away for the weekend. Kids seriously grumpy and I just want to know when the baby will get here.

I know I'm not due for another 6 days. I know this. And when people whine to me in RL about wanting the baby out before they're even due it makes me because they've clearly never had the 2 weeks wait ticking down to "Medicalised Birth"TM..... But I'd so love to be early...... Tomorrow would be great. Then I'd have a 1st, 11th and 21st of each month birthday which just seems quite neat and tidy!

I'm wondering if watching all of you beautiful Mummys posting about your babes when I'm not even due is not helping my positive frame of mind and am thinking I should bow out before I start getting grumpy on here.....

OP posts:
Shroomer · 20/03/2010 14:43

BelgianMummy - 'husband bouncing' . You're sentence could be misconstrued, i.e. are you ordering another husband tonight? Are his prostoglandins not good enough for you? I call my DP 'GlandMan' right now.

Scootergrrrl · 20/03/2010 15:09

Can I join in with the overdue grumblings? Four days late and here in Germany, you have to go to the hospital (20 minutes drive away) every two days and get hooked up to a CTG monitor and a contraction monitor for 40 minutes, only for them to go "oh yes, all fine, keep waiting". I'm glad the baby is happy but I'm getting a bit hacked off. It would be bad enough if it was just late but all this backwards-and-forwardising is driving me mad. Rahhhhhhhhh.................

BelgianMummy · 20/03/2010 16:08

shroomer - hm.. i hadn't conciously considered that yet. But maybe subconciously... Think i should suggest it to DH?
I don't think i have ever craved pain quite as much... We are all nuts i reckon.

Henrietta · 20/03/2010 16:15

BelgianMummy at your husband bouncing - not sure Ive heard it called that before made me and Im feeling fat & grumpy today. (also have pictures of DH curled up in a ball with you playing basketball with him) The only other thing you could try is pineapple but not sure if thats effective either, going for a long walk may be more beneficial. or run up stairs 10 times.
walnut my contractions for my first labour came every 5 mins - for 2 days until I was actually giving birth when they were more like the 2 mins apart. I had to spend all of that in hosp but with next 2 waited till I couldn't talk through a contraction before going in - that gave me a few hours to play with but everyones different. If you do suddenly decide you've left it too late ring for an ambulance-at least they have some equipment with them and experience.
I suppose we could all join the Apr thread - that way at least we'd be ahead of the game...

Henrietta · 20/03/2010 16:18

oh and still with my BHs arghhhhhh Im not due for 9 days so either be contractions or GO away! looks sternly at bump.

annamama · 20/03/2010 16:39

My birth story is "on the other side"... hope you can all join us there soon!

Walnut8 · 20/03/2010 18:26

Anna that sounds like an amazing birth. Congrats again.

Thank you Henrietta and Sariska for your info on first labours. From what I can tell, it sounds like it really is better in most cases to stay home for as long as possible and that it is likely to take hours to progress from the 3 in every ten minute stage ... I am a little worried about catching a taxi at a late stage though. I can't imagine sitting through 20 odd contractions in the back of a taxi in peak hour. Unfortunately if I get an ambulance, it will take me to the nearest hospital which is not the one I have booked in to (and from all accounts is not very nice).

So who is this new mummy?!!

Belgianmummy rant away! I'm definitely feeling more than a bit frustrated at this stage and it feels good to rant I think . The morning cramps are at least something right? And PMSL at GlandMan Shroomer ...yes, it's confirmed, we are all nuts. Arcadie I think you are completely justified in feeling like that! I have had a peak at the April thread and noticed there are a number on there who are actually due in late March - no wonder we are so top-heavy here...

Walnut8 · 20/03/2010 18:35

peek even.

Rindercella · 20/03/2010 19:22

Wow, so many more happy arrivals...congratulations to you all annamamma, mumoftwopointfive, and mummyelk. I look forward to catching up with all your birth stories when I hop over to the other side (like I'm going to be doing any hopping postpartum!!).

I thought yesterday was going to be B-Day, I really did. I had an odd sticky moment (sorry tmi) first thing and pains on and off all day, which got really quite strong towards the evening. I called my brother to make sure he was on standby to get his ass up the m-way as soon as he got my call.....and then everything died down again! Grrrr.

Now I would just like her to hold on til MIL gets here on Monday - will make life for everyone far easier.

Arcadie, I know exactly what you mean about feeling left out seeing as so many Marchers have now graduated! It was a very top-heacy group though with so many due late Feb/early March, it's no wonder us late March ladies feel like the straddlers! I am desperately trying to resist popping over to the PN thread as the stories just make me cry (with happiness of course).

designerbaby · 21/03/2010 05:43

Hey ladies, just a quick one to let you know that baby Amelie Hope was born, in water at 7.03 Saturday morning weighing in at a whopping 4.1kgs... She's gorgeous, has just given her Mum an almost uninterrupted night's sleep and we're both doing well.

I feel like a superhero. SO different from last time, I can't begin to tell you ... Well, I will, of course, on the postnatal thread later...

love to you all, hope you all have great experiences and it starts happening soon for those getting frustrated...

annamama · 21/03/2010 11:35
