Thanks for the link. The online selection is v lame but I will have a look in one of the shops this week.

Swordfishtrombones · 22/03/2010 13:36

Well the sun is shining (just about) and spring seems to be in the air. The clocks are changing on sunday so the evenings will be even lighter. Since we moved house DH and I haven't go round to getting curtains and it's been over 2 years! The thought of early sunshine streaming through has prompted us to actually order some which are coming on friday, in the nick of time! Hooray.

On saturday DH felt the baby kick a few times . It was such a lovely moment. I think we've both got our heads around having number 3 now. Bit late now anyway....

DH feeling the baby kick already, swordfishtrombones? How ace! DP tried listening with a cardboard tube last night (a bit but the midwife said it would be possible to hear the heartbeat this way quite soon) but no joy yet.

Bessie123 - I had that problem when preg with ds... bras being so ugly and high over the cups it limited what tops I could wear. I too was an H.
I ended up with some shock waves sports bras as although they aren't pretty they were lower cut than the lacey john lewes ones.
Luckily with dd and touch wood, with this one they are not quite so huge!
Have you tried mothercare? I know some bras there go up to at least a G and you may find you can get away with that.
Having said that I went to mothercare yesterday and there was not one bra in my size...even though its a big store.

I too am not blooming! Tried to cut back on my anti nausia medication over the weekend and ended up very sick ... the problem is that the side effect of the meds is tiredness to the extreme, but obviously I still need them.

Oosa - I stopped taking the pregnacare as I decided it made me sicker.

Luckily I found some in blooming marvellous, although brought the largest... being an F.

Stickhasgrownup · 22/03/2010 13:46

Swordfish - I've only just started feeling the baby this weekend... so I think my dh has a while to go yet! Mind you at my dating scan then said my uterous was inverted so I guess that may be why... not that I know what that means!
I'm begining to wonder where on earth we will put number 3! Will need to do some major sorting out to find space!

Swordfishtrombones · 22/03/2010 13:51

I know it sounds ridiculously early, but I felt DD1 at 16 and a half weeks (DD2 much later) and DH felt her kick at around the same time. I have to press quite firmly and low down, but it's definitely there. Actually, pressing down means I can feel the kicking much better.

I had a m/w appt last week and all we could hear was baby thrashing and kicking - could hardly make out the heartbeat with the racket going on. It actually kicked the monitor thing so the midwife felt it too!

Comixminx - a cardboard tube? Really? I shall have to get DH trying that. (if we can find one that hasn't been made into some sort of art project!)

Jaysfourth · 22/03/2010 14:39

Hi all, hope your weather is better than mine here, really miserable, wet and windy it was so nice yesterday too!

We went for our gender scan yesterday and found out we are having a girl, i was really happy, DH was disappointed, he doesn't think he can love a second daughter as much as our first, but i am sure he will be fine once its sunk in properly! A friend of mine came round this morning and has dropped off all her baby girl clothes, from 0 - 12 months, so i am just about set up!!

On a different note, i was supposed to find out the results of my triple test last Friday (for those who dont know, i went for a 12 week scan on the 12th March, to be told i was 16+3 so couldnt have the NT scan, so just had bloods) anyway, they didnt know what they were doing and i got completely mixed answers to questions i was asking. No one knew why i was ringing up and was told that if i hadnt heard from them then not to worry.... well i was/did/am....i was TOLD to ring so i want an answer goddamit!! Anyway, just called again, to no avail. Same kind of response. I then asked for someone to chase them up and had to explain ( for the umpeenth time) the reasoning behind it all... so am currently waiting on a phone call. I am guessing no news is good news, but its still an anxious time right now

shall now catch up on the thread....

We had our scan and the bump is finally showing (a very little bump) at 15 wks. I'm adding myself to this distinguished list.

Nice one Bonners

Just had the phone call, 1/770 (0.12%) - which seems high on the face of things, but no further tests are offered since its over the 1/250 cut off point. I am fine with it but it has started DH worrying

thought i would update and add the sex to the list.

Ooooo, congratulations on the girl Jaysfourth! We want a wee girl but have decided to wait until it pops out to find out.

What are other people doing when it comes to finding out the gender and what are your reasons?

DP and I want to wait to find out so it's something to look forward to and acts as a bit of extra incentive during labour. Since it's our first we'll be happy with whatever comes as long as it is healthy of course.

Just seen the Samantha Cameron thread. Definitely not me.

LucyLG - I hope today went well for you.

Jaysfourth - Congratulations on finding out you're going to have a girl.

Bonners - I think I'll try to find out the baby's gender at the scan, partly because I feel a bit mean referring to the baby as "it" and partly because I'm so hopeless at deciding on names that it will reduce my stress levels if I don't have to pick a name for each sex. With my two youngest children the hospital policy was not to tell parents, so we didn't find out until they were born. The policy has changed since then though.

I'm still a long way from blooming but will finally add myself to the list:

Hi All,

First post, first baby & a complete mix of excited and terrified

Not read all posts in great detail but sounds like I'm in good company.

EDD 2nd September.

Right now, I'm excited, nervous, ratty, tired, feeling guilty for not gushing over every baby brought into the office, happy initial tests all came back positive and delighted the trips to the loo have reduced from 4 to 1 per night

No noticeable bump - boobs have excelled themselves though!

Looking forward to experienceing this with you all

LucyLG · 22/03/2010 17:23

Scan fine, apparently pains due to ligaments, but there was a difference of opinion amongst the staff - one said it was far too severe and sudden to be ligament, the other was definite it was that causing it. Pains eased off a bit now, am forcing self to be off work for a couple of days to see if it goes away.

Actually scan was better than fine, it was fab. 12 week one baby was all scrunched up and she could have been a dog or fish or anything! This time much clearer, could see teeth forming and face profile clearly, think it's got DH's nose!! Baby has a little thrash about as well, was lovely to see her move about.

Bonners I am desperate to know the sex, if they can tell me I'll be right there! I'm so impatient after 4 years of trying to get this far that I can't wait one more day longer for any bit of this adventure than I have to! Even the scary stuff like this weekend in a weird, perverse kind of way!

Stickhasgrownup I had a retroverted uterus also called a tilted uterus. It just means that rather than tucking nicely over your bladder its at an angle. Once the baby's grows a bit it tilts the right way. Sometimes it'll stay right, others it'll go back after the birth.

coppertop I'm with you with the name thing! Girls names are easy but I can't but have no idea with boys names! I can't be doing with stressing for 20 weeks over a name we're not even going to use!!!

I feel so far behind the bunch! no bump worth talking about, mind you it would be overshadowed by the mountains Im passing off as breasts these days. Really want bump and movement! Still getting sick Grrr! Also have sore throat at the mo so am a regular ray of sunshine!
Welcome newbies - just skimming over thread -glad to hear all is well.
Jaysfourth - congrats on little girlie! DH will be spoilt later on with two daughters around him!
Banana and Coppertop - for love or money DH and i cant agree on girls names and could pick a hundred boys names - you will have to give me some ideas as i am at a loss.
Anyway - crawling into bed in hopes that will only be up twice tonight!
night all.

bananastew · 23/03/2010 08:27

MammyG you're post made me chuckle. not particularly for its content but for the fact nowhere else would I be referred to as Banana & not mind!!!!

bellabelly · 23/03/2010 08:28

Ok, fess up then, which one of you is Samantha Cameron?

MammyG, like you I am feeling waaay behind - I even had a dream at the weekend that I could feel the twins kicking and was v excited about it - it's obviously on my mind at the mo! Am still only 13 weks so it'll be a while yet I think...

We had an offer accepted on a house on Friday so HOPEFULLY will have moved and settled in before the new babies arrive! V excited - couldn't face the thought of moving with toddler twins and 2 newborns .

My morning sickness seems to be back today, ugh, thought I'd seen the last of that!

Hope everyone is doing ok!

foxyjbro99 · 23/03/2010 09:29

Jaysforth - congratulations! I've got 2 girls, I got the impression dh wanted dd2 to be a boy, but now they are getting older (5&3) it's so great having 2 girls - we wouldn't have it any other way. It must be nice to have one of each, but from what i've noticed same sex siblings seem to play together so much better.

I'm still feeling tired and I've still got that horrible taste in my mouth. With my other 2 pregnancies I've been full of energy by this stage - I'm wondering if this one is gonna be a boy, cos everything seems so different this time around.

I don't think I'm gonna find out the sex, I know it's really tempting, but I kind of like a little surprise at the end of all that hard work. Although it would be very nice to be 100% prepared; name, clothes, room decorated etc.

Jaysfourth · 23/03/2010 09:36

MammyG - What were you doing up at past 1130 at night!! :O much respect, i have normally been asleep for an hour and half, sometimes even two!
DH is now coming round to the idea of a girl, i mean its not like he doesnt already have two sons, so he cant moan for long!
Our 'agreement' this time was for him to chose the boys name, and me the girls....i wasnt totally happy with that arrarangement at the time, but am now i too find girls names easier than boys, but saying that, sometimes if there are too many i cant make up my mind, so it works both ways!! Both my boys are named after cars, and DH had the thrid car name lined up....ha, no more cars here!!

Mammy and Bella, you wont feel so far 'behind' soon enough, and then in a few months it will be ' grr this baby kept me awake all night with its kicking and turning!' i always think the second trimester goes the quickest for some reason....congrats on the house too bella

Shall have to have a look at the SamCam thread - i am not her....!

Lucy, glad to hear the scan showed nothing out of sorts, hope you are feeling better now

welcome wheresthemanual, funny name, it does feel a bit like that, but once it happens, you will be surprised at how much stuff just happens and you wont think twice about it

Right off to playgroup with the monsters, have a good day all.

I am SamCam and so's my wife.

Hi ladies - hope everyone's ok, flying visit to ask if anyone has experience of gestational diabetes? I am desperately thirsty all the time and feel like I am on a sugar roller-coaster (though this is not abnormal for me and my snack habit ). No worries if no one does, I have a mw appt a week tomorrow, maybe I ought to raise it there.

Hee hee Voila
Not diabetic but I too have been really really thirsty since getting pg. I have never drank so much water in my life, there's no wonder I am on the loo constantly.

Arrrggh, really itchy bump today, I guess someone is stretching me ..

Swordfishtrombones · 23/03/2010 13:58

Hi everyone

Congratulations Jaysfourth on another girl . Wonderful news. I bet DD will be really pleased to have a little sister.

I'm so tempted to find out (have a scan on 15th) but I will remain strong and wait for the surprise. The main reason I can find for knowing the sex is that it means I know if I can get rid of lots of girls' things or not, and DH doesn't think my tidying schedule is a very good reason! Fair enough. I expect it's a girl anyway, mainly because I have two already and can't imagine having a boy. All through both pregnancies I have been told that it will be a boy. Even from complete random strangers on the train or walking down the road. Weird.

Voila - I agree with Monstermuncher about drinking lots of water. I am really thirsty most of the time too. Especially at night. Which is irritating as it means having to get up to pee which I hate doing. As for the sugar rollercoaster it's probably due to you being tired and more aware of the sugar highs and lows. I know all the recommendations are for slow-release energy snacks but sometimes only a chocolate bar will do!

Good luck about the move Bellabelly - hope it goes smoothly.
